I recenly discovered GCC and must say I am impressed by their large store and selection, yet if you talk to the employees here, you still get that sense of small comic book store feel. The organization and labeling of the comics is sound and makes it as easy as possible to find stuff. I'm mostly a Marvel comic guy and Robocop fanatic but I enjoy the occasional graphic novel as well. For the collectors, I've had them track down an older, out of print Amazing Spider-man so I'm glad to see they do that kind of thing. If you're a comic person at all, you definitely have to check out GCC at least once, and I'm positive you'll become a fan. read more

HUGE store with a TON of different stuff! I'm in heaven every time I go in! I just wish I had more money to spend here! The $.50 comics are awesome. They have a lot of them to look through, so plan on spending at least an hour if you're going to look through them. They also have a box of $1 comics that had a few books in it. This store carries SO MANY collectibles! Toys, shirts, accessories, cards, you name it! Even if you're not going to buy any of them, it's fun to look at all the cool stuff they have. The staff here is super friendly. I really only read Batman and Green Lantern, but they don't treat me any differently than someone who reads every comic there is. One of the guys even cut me a deal when I bought some books for a high school classroom. This is definitely NOT an elitist comic book store like others I've been to. Great place! read more

This is my favorite comic store in the Chicago area. And I have been buying from here for more than six years. The staff are great and always willing to help me get something I may have missed. I go to this shop only because it is the closest to my home. I now bring my son along to facilitate reading and he loves the shop. He loves looking at the toys and the cardboard cut outs of characters, rummaging through the 50 cent comics and so on... I on the other hand am silently hating this shop now. The anxiety that I get when entering this store due to the lack of customer service by the two that are always there reminds me of the first time I had to shower in junior highschool gym class. When I go to this store now I don't even bring my son with me anymore, the man and girl that frequently work there have acted pretty rude to my son for doing nothing. The man keeps an eagle eye on us when we would look at the toys and he would make a point to walk over to the independent section to check on us when my son was looking at the toys and comics in the glass cases in the back. My son did not handle any toy in a rough fashion nor bang on any glass case. The man was just paranoid or something. Small talk with these two workers is like pulling teeth and they noticeably do not want to talk to me about anything. Any comic that I have stated I am looking for is not cared about, The man simply writes your name down and shoves the paper in a stack of nothingness, I never heard a follow up or had luck of obtaining my request. Variant comic prices in this shop are marked up DOUBLE on the day they come out. I paid 20 bucks for a variant and found it down the street at another shop for the 9.99 cover price. Just yesterday they were selling the Duck Avenger variant for 9.99, the shop down the street had it for cover price 4.99. You can even go on the Graham Cracker site and look at this book, it says 72 PAGES FOR 4.99 in the description, but, the price is listed at 9.99. I recently have been going to a shop in Schaumburg even though I live in Aurora just to have a friendly and warm shopping experience. It truly is a bad day for comic shops when fun and amazement are tainted for children. I hope the owners do read this and think about what kind of rude complacency they are in and look to better themselves for the sake of the comic community. read more

My son & I have been coming here for at least 5 or 6 years. He's a teenager now & drives himself, but I tag along just to say "hi" & look at the latest goodies. I've begun collecting certain books too. I like this store even more now that they remodeled. It's much less claustrophobic there.Wednesday is free comic book day (3 free from the 50 cent boxes). Then if you are a collector, give them a list & they hold them behind the counter for you when new ones come out & give them to you the next time you're there. They also give "money" for good grades. It can go toward books in the boxes. (I think it should just go to anything. What's the difference?) I noticed some people talked about employees. Mike (mgr at the counter) used to kind of scare me. But now, I'm used to his sense of humor. You respect the stuff, he respects you (no drinks or roughhousing-makes sense). John is usually on the DC side working. He's a total sweetie & will help w/whatever you need. Dawn (at the front) intimidated me a little at first, but she's helpful & always willing to get you your answer. Her concentration on work & the amount she is trying to do could come off as ignoring you or rudeness. But she is very nice & everyone has bad days! Retail is hard work. They know almost everyone who comes in. They really try to help you be happy with what you have. Nobody is cheerful all the time. The Plainfield store, for instance, is full of rude employees. We will never go to that one again! But this store is good. They have different game tournaments (thank you for Thurs night Heroclix Cary, who just volunteers his time every Thurs) & a Ladies' Night once a month I think. That seems to be a hit too. If you've been put off by the store, try it one or two times more, on different days & see what you think. You'll be pleasantly surprised!! read more

Been stopping by every once in a while for the past 3 years. Great shop, nice staff, amazing selections. If you want a comic, this is probably the best graham cracker location & possibly the best shop period to come to. Mike & Dawn are the beez-neez. 5 stars, game over. read more

I love this store! The manager is a great guy as long as you show respect to the store and the people around you. Common sense stuff! The place tends to be kinda crazy with all the Magic people on Friday's so just keep that in mind. read more
