I've tried G&B several times via delivery and visited in-person recently. My only gripe thus far was the service during my first visit. It took several minutes for someone to greet or acknowledge us, although there were several employees up front conversing and what appeared to be one manager/lead employee. Business appeared slow on this day. Eventually, the manager/lead stopped cleaning the counter and acknowledged us. It was then that another employee offered to to take our order at the register. First impression. We tried the Cheesy Caprese and Guac' n Roll toasts. Both delicious and filling, but I personally enjoyed the Cheesy Caprese more for its flavor profile. We also ordered the Relax, Eat & Repeat parfait and split it since we had toasts. I've had this parfait a few times and it's one of my favorite ones to date. This was enough to fuel us in between store hopping. Due to the service, I give it 4 stars. Other than that, the ingredients hit on freshness and flavor.

I will definitely come again, a great local place to have breakfast or lunch. A sign on the door also said they open earlier for breakfast now I got the hulk bowl which was so good and could barely finish the 12oz size. Everything was super fresh.

Currently it's listed as on north parkway, which is incorrect. Anyway. Back as a grad student at UA, I had an açaí bowl place I was obsessed with: Frutta Bowls. It was pretty much the only thing I missed about Tuscaloosa after moving back (sorry, not sorry). Try as I might, I couldn't find a place in Huntsville that made anything close to FB. The açaí would be too icy, the topping ratio would be way off, the bowl would be too sweet or not sweet enough...the list goes on. But! City Bowls has finally remedied that with some fruit bowls that live up to my expectations. They make acai, pitaya, and green bowls here. The one time I went inside it looked like they also had a small, simple coffee menu, too. The topping selections are wide and varied and there is a great selection of pre-built bowls, or you can build your own. Three different sizes of bowls await you, from the snack-sized 8 oz to the hearty meal sized 16 oz. The inside is clean, if maybe still a little bare-feeling. They have a drive-through window, too, which I LOVE, though since every bowl is made with fresh-cut fruit, don't expect to blast in and out in less than 5 minutes. Your patience will be rewarded! They don't have exact calorie information available but they do give some broad details (e.g. less than 600, etc.), which is appreciated. My two favorite bowls so far are the powerhouse bowl and the island bowl. The powerhouse comes with acai, granola, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and peanut butter and Nutella drizzle, while the island bowl is made with pitaya, granola, kiwi, strawberries, and pineapple, with coconut flakes, honey, and bee pollen on top. They are both delicious, plenty filling, feel healthy, and with a balanced amount of sweetness, despite no added sugars! The ratio of toppings to base is close to perfect and the base has never been icy or gritty. No fifth star quite yet just because service on 2/3 visits so far has been a little bit curt. Not in a horrifically rude or mean way, just in like a "mostly teenage staff" kind of way, lol. I definitely intend to continue returning because I can never get enough fruit bowls, so if quality continues to be exceptional and/or as service gets a little friendlier I'll move up to a fifth star. The food is more than deserving of a try if fruit bowls are your thing!

As I was looking at the menu, the boys knew what they wanted so I sent them to the cash register to order. While they were at the cash register, one of the boys was touching a gift card display that was next to the cash register. The owner approached him and got really close to him and asked "are you going to buy one" and he said no sir, then the owner said "then don't touch it, put it down". We left and will NEVER return, Never. I would give a ZERO stars if possible. I'll drive to City Bowls in south Huntsville before going to this place, even if I just finished watching a trash pandas game. Horrible owner.

Playa Bowls is one such option, located near Toyota Field. I visited a couple of weeks ago for a quick lunch before going back to work and had a very nice time! The inside is tropical themed and very cute. I will say I'm ALWAYS hot and even I found it a bit chilly in there, but I guess that makes sense -- keeping all the bases (acai, pitaya, etc) cool and such. You order at the counter and employees call your name when your food is ready. Everyone I interacted with was perfectly pleasant and working hard. This particular chain offers a good many more combinations than many other fruit bowl competitors, which I think is mostly a good thing, though the menu can be a little overwhelming! In addition to bowls, they also offer smoothies and juices. Bases (in other words, the smoothie-like substance that forms the bottom part of a bowl) can be acai, mango, pitaya, oatmeal, or a green, coconut, or banana blend. Again, a little overwhelming, but fun to have so many options. I settled on the Electric Mermaid, which has a pitaya base and is topped with granola, pineapple, mango, kiwi, coconut flakes, and honey. Sadly, they were out of kiwi when I visited, but the employee was kind enough to offer to substitute another fruit or to double up on one of the fruits already in the bowl. I did double pineapple because it's my favorite. :) Overall, the bowl was yummy and well-balanced. All the fruits were perfectly ripe, not too mushy, not too cold, etc. It ran a little on the sweeter side thanks to the honey, but overall, I'd eat it again! There isn't a Playa Bowls particularly close to me, but I'd be happy to return and continue to try out some of their other combinations. If you're an acai bowl fan, I don't think you'll be disappointed here.

I knew it was all I wanted, and it would fix me. I originally drove to the Whitesburg location, but after sitting in line for 30 mins (this unfortunately isn't an exaggeration of time because my mind was clouded with hunger, it truly was from 12:59pm-1:29pm before I finally gave up and had to drive off. I was just too hungry- I'm sorry!) Drove straight to the Cecil Ashburn Dr location. I was determined to have my Tropical Smoothie fix. I was greeted promptly and politely, and placed my order. I was able to pay and receive my food very quickly by courteous staff. I ordered a green island detox and a chicken quesadilla. The food was piping hot- just the way I like it (I mean, who doesn't?) and my smoothie was delicious. After a long day of travel, this was just the thing I needed to feel better. I really appreciated the quick service. Apologies for ragging on Whitesburg a little, I'm sure they were super busy. I do understand understaff issues and surge times, I just had to make the call at the 30-min mark.

They had 2 employees inside, no customers inside, and 2 cars in the drive through. It still took them 10 minutes just to take my order. Then we sat and waited for another 10 minutes for smoothies and another 15 after that for the food, and wouldn't you guess, the food is wrong again. 45 minutes invested waiting for 2 smoothies and 2 wraps. Smoothies came out chunky and food came out wrong. The lack of professionalism, service, and punctuality absolutely blows my mind. Figured I would give it a year and try again. I did that and you best believe they keep living up to that 1 star review average! As I sit here typing this my girlfriend just pulled a whole banana out of her smoothie. Literally the bottom half of her smoothie is Solid and un-blended chunks. Literally undrinkable. This place is awful. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
