Okay, friend and I came here around 10p (I think they closed at 11p) on a Friday night. The place was quite empty (there were a few folks in there, but it was by no means busy), and we were seated right away. Now we knew we were trying it by coming in so late and kind of close to closing time, so we were by no means making a fuss about what would or would not be available. Our waiter was very nice (albeit a bit awkward), but we were able to order quickly and in true good Mexican food restaurant fashion, the food came out quickly as well. It was all fresh and quite good (I believe I ordered street tacos and my friend ordered birria tacos). Missed opportunity for them not having sauces on the table, but also understanding that a) it was late, and b) all Mexican restaurants don't do this, especially if they are not a taqueria or another spot that focuses on tacos. The ambiance was fine, nothing special, but it felt nice in there. The seats weren't too close together, and even the booths had quite a bit of room, so that was nice. It was also all a good price, in my opinion! We came here tonight at 5pm and there were plenty of tables available. Our server seemed really in a hurry, which was off-putting, considering there weren't many people there at that time. Started with the blood orange margarita which was a 0/5 stars. It was awful. The spicy salsa they brought was also awful, the mild salsa was pretty okay. The chips were pretty good too. I ordered the Al pastor quesadilla and it had good flavor, but the lettuce salad looked old and the rice was overcooked. My friend got the spinach and chicken enchiladas and said they were decent. I don't know how someone could call this "authentic " Mexican. Only those who have never had authentic Mexican would! I would not return and do not recommend. read more

My family recently moved to Edinburgh in Chesapeake, Virginia six months ago. This location is conveniently located across from Target on Carmichael Way. Never have dined here before, our first visit was made so enjoyable by our waiter whom made several suggestions. We tried the Texas Dip as an appetizer. OMG it was so good especially when paired with their tortilla chips. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my wife ordered the shrimp chimichangas. We requested to have only rice on the side as we both aren't fans of refried beans. The flavors of the food are amazing. I have also had their Birria tacos which also are incredibly delicious. I didn't even remember reviewing this location 10 years ago, but I am glad to say our recent experience was perfect! We met some friends for a small birthday celebration on a recent Saturday evening and it was hopping with patrons waiting outdoors for seating. We were seated in a spacious booth as a party of 5 and were greeted right away. Our server was attentive during our whole visit and I would happily sit in his section again. Chips were offered right away - perfectly crisp with flavorful salsa and white sauce. We ordered drinks and they also arrived quickly. All entrees we ordered were practically devoured. I had the vegetarian burrito bowl. I am usually fearful of ordering this as it often arrives with greasy, overcooked vegetables. This bowl had a mound of perfectly tender-crisp veggies, flavorful toppings and black beans. Hubby had the Fiesta salad - tons of chicken and shrimp. One friend had the seafood burrito bowl salad and I almost kicked myself for not ordering. It had a ton of seafood and he ate almost every bite. Our little one enjoyed a cheese quesadilla, which thankfully had just enough cheese and wasn't at all greasy (another pet peeve at other places). The kids meals are a little pricier here at $7.99. Just another "authentic" Mexican joint? Not by a long shot! I don't think I have ever had such tasty Mexican food! Wasn't sure what I wanted but knew I wanted something crunchy. So I went with the Rodeo Taco Salad (in the fried bowl), and an extra hard taco, just because. I've also never raved about a humble taco before, but it was perfect. Super tasty ground beef, not too greasy, and with 3 cheeses (cheddar, Jack, and cotija??) that just made the whole thing perfect. And that taco salad...I don't know what I was expecting, but it was a flavor bomb in the best of ways! Not too overpowering with cumin; not overdone on anything. Just mmm mmm delish! And a huge portion! Can't really tell in the photo, but the shell is deep, and filled with black beans , white rice, and tons of meat and veg. Also, I thought the shell was burnt when it arrived, but I was wrong! That was yesterday, I had some more for lunch today, and I still have another full meal for tomorrow. Hubby had a usual ginormous burrito, which he loved and surprisingly finished off. The salsa w/chips for table was the perfect level of heat for me who doesn't tolerate much. Maybe I'm delirious from travel. Maybe I'm just thrilled to have food in my stomach. After driving 7+ hours this place was recommended by a family member. We were worried about showing up past 9 when they close at 10. We were seated promptly and given chips, salsa and a cream dip. We didn't care for the cream dip (maybe a cold sour queso? Maybe a sour cream thing?) but the chips and salsa were welcome. I don't care for cilantro but the salsa was fresh and even with cilantro it was great. Ordered the steak fajita nachos. Omg delicious. Cheese was layered well. Pollo relleno was very good and chock full of veggies in a cheesy sauce and a red sauce. Beans had good flavor. Food came quickly. Service was good. We live pretty close to this place and get some food to-go from here at least once month. They are always quick on getting the order out and we have never had any problems with the food. They can be a bit pricy with some items, but they are usually worth it. We tend to get items that have fajitas and both the chicken and steak have been great! We have not dined in yet, but everytime I pickup the order the place looks nice and clean. It is also not too loud usually inside. We will for sure keep coming here and hopefully start trying more of a variety, and possibly even dine in the restaurant. read more

The food was your typical Mexican food. It reminded me a lot of Las Palmas. It wasn't bad. We would go again if we were in the area. I had the enchilada suizas with rice and a salad. My husband had the chicken California burrito but the weird thing is that the burrito didn't have fries in it. I thought all California burritos were supposed to have it in them. Maybe not I'm not sure. Took one star away because of the French fries and the fact they had a couple sitting directly behind us which was too close for my taste during Covid. Tried this quaint Mexican restaurant near our house in Edinburgh. Food was really good, main draw back being they never refilled our chips and salsa and it took longer than usual to get that first serving. Service was friendly, and food came out hot and fast. My biggest drawback was the margarita wasn't blended well so there were still large ice chunks in it rendering drinking it a chore, and there was alcohol floating on top. After mixing it up the taste was good! Overall will probably come back but their are better Mexican restaurants near by such as my favorite Nacho Grande, as well as 3 amigos in hickory. read more

Their alcoholic drinks come in a variety of sizes with "monster" as big as a large soup bowl! It was huge. I had the pina colada which was very sweet and fruity... my only critique would be presentation as there was no fruit or fancy straw to liven up the otherwise fun cocktail . It almost looked like a bowl of milk without the cereal . I also ordered their carne asada fries which you don't get very much on the east coast. Plenty of guacamole, sour cream and meat. Was decent considering this is a west coast creation. Definitely would return for the large quantities of alcohol and maybe will explore their menu more next time. We have been eating here for many years we never had bad food. Today may wife ordered shrimp fajitas. The dish had very little green peppers and onions the shrimp had a hot sauce that would burn your lips. She could not eat it and the server never came back. My lunch was the fiesta salad with shrimp and chicken. Very little lettuce onions No peppers tomatoes and no other vegetables. This salad only had four shrimp and very chicken. The server finally came back 40 mins later. Never filled our drinks -salsa-chips. When we talked to the manager he could care less. He said maybe next time it will be better. We have had both lunch and dinner here more than several times over the past year and they've continued to serve the same high quality meals and beverages... They have new menus and some new items and are serving George Clooney Tequila and the infamous Mule in a copper cup. We enjoy the fajita burrito it's two burritos so bring an appetite! The grilled chicken quesadilla is huge and can be shared as well. The Texas margarita is a must but bring a DD just in case you are feeling the effects... Mexican cravings post Target shopping lead us across the street. My part of 8 - 4 adults and 4 kids got seated immediately in a spacious booth. My nieces were getting pretty hyper, but the place was pretty kid friendly about it all. The waiter kept the chips coming while we looked over the menu. My friend ordered the house guacamole and we dug into it. A few of us bit into some jalepeno peppers, but the table emptied the good serving we got. I wasn't a big fan of the chips since they felt a bit greasy to me, but when our waiter refilled our chips, I could tell they came fresh from the fryer. As for the meal, I ended up getting one of the main combinations - taco and burrito. Nothing spectacular about it, but it came out on a hot plate. I also couldn't resist to get a margarita and they gave me a nice frozen strong drink. Overall, a friendly place for a quick bite to eat. Nothing to rave about. We asked for a to go box and 10 minutes later we finally got the box. The waiter said he was so busy. Our food was ok.
