    House salad

Found Guads through Portsmouth restaurant week. Decided to try it with my fellow Yelp friend. Located in a nice spot in Portsmouth. Parking around Guads was ample. Place was okay, our menu had all the sauces on it, lol. It was a well loved menu. Tried the house salad , it was okay. My steak quesadilla was delicious, I'd try it again. Fixins like sour cream, lettuce, etc that came with it were big servings which was nice. Our two servers were lacking customer service. One of them seemed out of it. Hope he's okay. Place could use a good scrub. Basically foods okay, wasn't impressed with the rest.

Came here after a concert at the Portsmouth Pavilion. I didn't have too many expectations. The staff was friendly and was patient as we made our order. We ordered 2 shrimp tacos and 1 fish taco and an order of taquitos. I got a Passionfruit drink on the special's menu as well. The drink was heavy on the syrup and tasted flat even though it was supposed to have ginger ale in it. The chips and salsa were just OK, nothing special at all and I really didn't care to eat much of it. The shrimp tacos were aright I'd give them about a 7/10. The fish taco, however, was horrible. The fish was paper thin, mainly skin and it was ripped open. The fish tasted like a fish stick instead of the type of typical fried fish taco you would normally get at a restaurant. The taquitos were greasy but still good. Overall, I don't see myself coming back here by choice.

Food & Customer Service was ABSOLUTELY Disgusting!!! Ordered a Carnitas Platter & Guacamole Dip, the food was unseasoned; greasy and did not taste like Mexican food. I started eating the Carnitas and the rice/refried beans made me nauseous The Guacamole was brown & tasted nasty, I only ate 1 small piece of chip with some & immediately stopped. I went to the restaurant after work to return the food and the customer service was deplorable and the staff to include the manager was rude and disgusting!!! They did not want to give me a refund and made all sorts of excuses to not return my money. I will never go back to this restaurant again!!!

The food is always amazing when I go. On Monday nights they have the Cali Burrito and Jumbo Margaritas on special. The service is fast and friendly and it's always half full with customers. There's always laughter and good music in the air. It's just a nice place to go with your friends and family. I'll always come back

I just had a fantastic meal! I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted to order, and noticed that the Wednesday special is Carnitas for only $10.99! It's a huge plate and some of the best Carnitas I've had anywhere in a very long time. I also ordered a small queso which was delicious as well. The young lady provided super friendly service and the place itself is an inviting atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning to try more of their dishes while I'm in Portsmouth!

Tonight, Jan 10, 2024 arrived with a girlfriend (from out of town) to enjoy Mexican. while finishing up and relaxing at our table "catching up" a manager comes to our table asking if were finished and that he had a 5 top table who is waiting. So how rude and disrespectful to basically be thrown out of the restaurant after tipping 25% and spending a good amount of money. Selfish, greed and flat out disrespect! I will NOT return and I will let everyone know about this! There are polite ways to ask people to leave along with offering a coupon or another table with complimentary appetizer. BTW we were only there for 45 minutes. UNBELIEVABLE! Get better service at Guads at wards corner! This doesn't deserve one star but I had to put one to post

Poblano.... It's a shrimp and corn stuffed poblano pepper it is delicious!

We were going to a concert at the pavilion a few blocks away so we stumbled onto this place and it was AMAZING! We were seated immediately and the waiter was super friendly! The menu is incredible lots of traditional dishes and lots of high end dishes you won't find everywhere else. The carnitas was falling apart it was so tender! We also had strawberry and watermelon margaritas which were delicious and just the right amount of strong. I would absolutely eat here again if in the area!

Starting off right with some fresh chips and salsa

Came in here in Sunday evening with my littlest minion for a Dad and daughter date. Mexican food is on our top 3 list of favorites and Guad's did not disappoint! We've actually walked and driven by this spot several times before and never stopping in. It's alone along a strip across from the library. Outside seating when the weather is nice. Some booths along the wall, tables in the middle and a big bar top. Kind of divey feel and I like it! The food- Chips and salsa- chips were warm and fresh. Salsa came out in a big bowl for dipping. A little kick to it but I like that! Queso was delicious as well! Soft taco kids meal- came with rice and beans. Soft taco wasn't puny either! I tried some of each and delicious! Pazole- ok so I love this stuff! I probably misspelled it and definitely mispronounce it every time I order BUT this was a MEAL! Usually there's a couple little chunks of pork. This one had a TON! I'd come back just for another bowl. I'm actually drooling right now typing this. Fried ice cream- HUGE scoop with whipped cream chocolate sauce and a cherry on top. Inside a crispy slightly sweet taco shell bowl. We destroyed the entire thing and just about licked the plate! We'll be bringing the entire family back soon! Oh and on Sundays...kids eat free with an adult meal!

If you're used to Plaza Azteca or La Parilla don't go here. Prices are cheap and I found out why. Food wasn't good. 2 thumbs down for me!

First, let me thank Guads for having some healthier menu items such as bowls and lettuce-wraps for…read moretacos. I started coming to Guads for that very reason when I was on a restricted diet and the places I usually went didn't have very much in the way of low carb menu items. Second, Diego, Abner, and Jaquelin are always extremely attentive and just as nice as can be. I've watched them work with other tables and service to everyone (not just me) is top notch, friendly, and for such a small staff that makes a huge difference - it makes you feel welcome, and being the place is somewhat small (smaller than the other places in town) it makes for a much cozier "like family" atmosphere. Third, it is your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant with a lot of the same dishes and you know, you like what you like and what you get used to. I like the sauce served with tacos at La Parilla better. I like the Mexican Street Corn and Fried Plantains at Plaza Azteca (which neither other place has). I like "Los Tres" (3 types of Guacamole) at Guads. Their Mole Poblano is my favorite. Their Enchiladas Rancheras has cubed pork where I'm used to shredded - but it was extremely tasty pork cubes nonetheless. The Poblano appetizer is a Poblano people stuffed with Shrimp. The Brioche are skewers like "shish kebabs" with whichever meats you decide and is quite nice for something a little different. Their red and white sauces are "different" than the other places - I like their red sauce best, I think Plaza Azteca had the better white sauce - but they're all slightly different and I'll take any of them any day of the week. My family loves their Chile Rellenos - which are NOT battered which is kind of unusual TMK, but they are actually quite good like that and a nice variation - especially if you want to cut down on some fried stuff and carbs. So I mean, you have to go and try it, and find what you like. They do do Taco Tuesday and it gets super busy, and the Tacos are "very basic" but I mean, TBH I always feel guilty when I get my bill because it's so low and even a single taco has enough in it for a - well, the prices have gone up with what's happening in the world - so they were 1.00, then 1.50, I think they might be 2.00. But heck the other places are like "no we don't do Taco Tuesday, don't ask". But I like their meals enough that even if I'm there on a Tuesday I'll still order a meal a lot of times. My favorite is probably the Taquitos Mexicanos with is 2 Taquitos - but they're two tortillas each so longer and thicker than typical - those are set on a bed of refried beans (enough to hold them in place) and topped with sliced avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, jalepenos, pickled red onion IIRC, and crumbled cheese, with some chipotle drizzle or something IIRC - very nice presentation. The Chimichangas are like tortillas made into little pouches with the brisket inside of them - amazingly good and again, an attention to the appearance of the food rather than just a plate of rice, beans, sauce, and enchilada like so many dishes (they do those too though I you're looking for that). Just a lot of the stuff is nicely presented - got Texano dip the other day and it had two "wings" on it - a fried flower tortilla cut in half that had the edges cut with triangular points like sun rays - very nice for something you'd just expect a bowl of cheese dip. We've had nothing bad there - some things weren't as good for me, or for my family at other places (and we all like different things at the different places) but I've had nothing I'd say was downright bad. Some things are kind of "plain" or "basic" so I feel like, with the other more "typical" dishes, the "typical ones with a twist" and the "unique" dishes, there's something for everyone here.

The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing but the food was mediocre. I was most disappointed with the ceviche. If you love tajin you will like this. I couldn't taste anything but tajin. First time I have never finished ceviche. The waitress was very nice. I will opt for another Mexican restaurant.

The restaurant has lots of seating, Spanish music playing, and a nice casual atmosphere. There were only about four groups of customers when we arrived, and with four servers working, it did take a little while for someone to get our order. Once we ordered, though, the food came out very quickly and was nice and hot. And they checked on us throughout. The flavor was decent overall. The California fries were really good--they came with sliced avocado instead of guacamole, which wasn't a bad decision. I've definitely had better carne asada tacos, though. The meat was real and had a good texture, but I felt like it could have used better seasoning. My biggest disappointment was the tortillas. They tasted like store-bought tortillas rather than fresh-made, which really made a difference with the tacos. Overall, not a bad spot. The food was hot, portions were good, and there were some definite standouts like the California fries. I just wish the tacos had better-seasoned meat and fresher tortillas.

I noted all the content of the BC that was listed on the menu and it contained items that I liked. When my food was served it looked delicious and when I took my first cut of the burrito and tasted it, it was delicious. I kept going for a few more bites, and I noted that all the content of the burrito was not there. When I saw the server I let him know that some of the content was missing. The server stated that all the content was inside and he stood there for a few seconds looking at me and I was looking at him and I said OK and I took a couple more bites and there were still missing content, so I cut the "Burrito California in half open it up and call him back to the table and showed him that all the contents were not there: the chorizo sausage and pico de gallo were missing. There was no offer to make a correction, the server just took the plate and left. Came back with a ticket of 3.50 for my drink. The ambience is very fitting for a Mexican restaurant. This was not my first visit matter fact it was one of my favorite places to go when I had a taste for Mexican food and we've had a birthday dinner there for my son-in-law before and we enjoyed our meal and the service at that time.
