I am glad I didn't want a swim because even though the lake was high it was 60 degrees or so that day. The only ones in the water were the geese and ducks. The restroom and outside shower were nice. That is the side of the park w the beach parking. I accidentally parked in the conference center parking lot. I had a nice time and saw a turtle on the catwalk. It dived under water. All in all a great place to spend a bit of quiet time at the start of my day. I included a pic of the rules and even though the water level was high I saw pics on Yelp where it wasn't so you might want to keep that in mind as well.

It is a multi-use sidewalk, so you do have to watch for bikes, and hope they are watching for you. There are several things to see a long the way, most notably a skate park ( https://www.granbury.org/749/Granbury-Skate-Park ), a Frisbee golf course ( https://www.granbury.org/746/Disc-Golf-Course ), a dog park ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/granbury-bark-park-granbury ), a play area for children, and a memorial for Granbury's military and first responders ( https://www.granbury.org/931/Memorial-Lane-Jim-Burks-Firefighters-Mem ). It's not very long "hike", but does make for a nice walk. Especially if you just had a big meal on the square. The water features in Shanley Park ( https://www.granbury.org/740/Shanley-Park ) are especially nice. Bottom line: If you've got some "time", do check it out. PS. This walking and bike trail is no different because you can easily take a stroll and see the lake or turn this into a very serious exercise trail to burn up the miles both on foot or bike. I walked the majority of this and was shocked at how long these trails actually are and how nice and well-maintained they are.

From: http://www.lakegranbury.net/hunter-park/ Hunter Park is located on the west side of Lake Granbury just north of the city of Granbury, Texas.  This is one of the best parks on the lake to spend the afternoon or for some overnight camping.  The camping in this park and in all parks along Lake Granbury is considered primitive camping.  There are restrooms, but there is no water or electric on any campsites.  There are no real defined campsites only some picnic tables along the edge of the lake.  All camping is free and first come first serve. There is plenty of shade in Hunter Park.  You can easily park your tent under a tree for some shade during the day.  The park does have a nice fishing pier and a nice boat ramp.  There is an old football field in the park as well.  It does not look like it has been used in a while. Brazos River Authority Park Rules: Disorderly conduct is prohibited. No dumping of household garbage permitted. No littering.  All trash must be placed in barrels. Off-road operation of vehicles is prohibited. No dirt bikes or all-terrain vehicles allowed. All pets must be kept on a leash. No livestock permitted. No fireworks or firearms allowed. No glass containers allowed. This is a beautiful park on Lake Granbury.  It is one of the best parks you will find on the lake for day-use or for camping. That being said, I'm surprised this place was a clean as it was. Couldn't tell if swimming was allowed or not. Did not look like a very nice place to swim either. Bottom line: Some trees, so some shade.

This is our favorite boat ramp on the lake and they are taking advantage of the low water by doing some extra re-construction. The covered tables and multiple trash cans made grilling and relaxing easy. The bathrooms were ok but resembled prison style metal toilets. If you are going to camp here at night, expect a lake party. Loud music past midnight and out of control kids running around until midnight are the norm. One family pulled up around 10:30 with 3 cars, let their kids run wild, were loud and did not go home until after midnight. Daytime use is fine. If you want peace and quiet at night, go somewhere else.

About 45 minutes south of Ft Worth is the historic and still smallish town of Granbury Texas…read more Growing up in Dallas I was familiar with the name and where it's located but,I never visited. I've been to many of the surrounding towns like Cleburn and Weatherford but, just never had occasion to go through Granbury. That all changed yesterday when I was in need of a day trip. You know, the kind that refreshes. The whole idea of driving an hour or two and exploring and discovering a place you haven't been always pushes my hot button. Granbury has been a popular day trip spot due to its Dallas Ft Worth proximity for sometime. It began " Gentrifying" long before it was trendy. Partially because of the lake that's there as a result of the Brazos river. Combine that with a small Texas town and you have a winner. I rolled into town about 10:30 am on a cloudy and chilly day. Parked the car and began walking around the square. In the center of the square,as with most Texas Towns,sits the Hood County Courthouse. Texas courthouses are located in the county seat. In this case Granbury. As a result,counties grew out of this design and a lot of significant history lies in the court houses of Texas. A bonus is,85% of them are archetectually beautiful. The Hood County Courthouse is less beautiful but still unique. I didn't have time to fully explore but, will return to do so. There is a lot of limestone readily available around this area and as a result,a significant number of the historic buildings were built from it. This has resulted in most of them surviving over 100 plus years and adding to the charming aesthetic of the town square. Nothing is vacant here. All the buildings in town are preserved , restored and occupied. I love to see that. Too many of our small towns are decaying due to lack of demand and neglect. If you live within an hour or two,you can't go wrong checking out the historic Granbury Square with all its shopping,restaurants and historical attractions. Go!

The one negative I found was the majority of the road signage. Could be clearer. Put in more adequate places. Nearby is the Hilton Garden Inn where I stayed. If you're able to shell out even more money than that, I was highly intrigued with places like Hotel Lucy, Inn on Lake Granbury, Blue Heron Bed & Breakfast, and that place I really wanted to snooze in at... N on the Square. Without someone to accompany on this Thanksgiving road trip, I did not feel inclined to dig so deep into my pocketbook. The Square itself was decorated rather tastefully for Christmas when I was there 11/25-26/2023. Other points of interest that piqued my interest: + Granbury Opera House + ghost tours (there were at least two that I saw mentioned, but not sure if they were even open) + The Fillin' Station (a burger joint) + several other eateries including a taco shop, coffee bar, a wine bar, saloon, and a few shops and boutiques Public restrooms were available. Parking was free in all of the lots and side streets I drove past. Lastly, I would like to recommend the Ketzler's Schnitzel Haus and Biergarten for dinner. I have a review for that place in queue.
