A locals favorite place and the commuters best kept secret. They always have whatever you need, and they serve you with a smile. It's a perfect little corner store, and if you need something to eat? Cool little convenience store and deli. The middle eastern food is great! Any time we are in the area I grab a tub of hummus and some grape leaves (they have veggie and meat options) to go. Finally tried a deli sandwich for lunch last week and was not disappointed. Just what I'd expect from a spot like this. Fresh slices of meat, toasted with mayo and a little lettuce. I made a call in order on 04/04/2024 for a turkey sandwich combo with fries. The gentleman on the phone was nice and thorough with the ordering process and said I could come and get my sandwich at any time. It is much like a corner store with a kitchen in the back and had fresh foods in the refrigerator like soups and other sandwiches ( along with desserts ). My sandwich was HUGE and had a big portion of cheese , turkey, and banana peppers. I could barely finish half of the food in one sitting. The fries were crinkle cut with fry seasoning which was also good. For the sandwich and fries it came out to $10.52 which I think is a great deal, considering the portion sizes. When I went, I was the only one in the store so it was pretty quiet in there. This may be my favorite go to for a good sandwich and fries from now on. read more

If you need anything, come to Granby Bistro & Deli. It is located on Granby Street, near the corner of Granby/W. Tazewell; beside Hokkaido Sushi. Park in one of the city garages, or on the street if you get lucky. And can parallel park. It is a one stop shop - a mini grocery store - with all types of drinks in the fridge, dry goods, snacks, canned goods, toiletries, and of course, deli food - they serve different types of deli sandwiches, and specialize in Greek food. Mr Adel is so nice, and has helped me a couple times. Each time, I ordered the gyro and fries. This combo only comes out to about $9. He makes it fresh for you. I learned that this used to be a restaurant, but some years ago, it switched to a grocery store/ deli style shop. They even have a lotto machine in here - I've gotten scratchers twice and won a little something both times! Maybe the next time I'll win BIG. I hope. Anyway, support this small shop. You can tell the owners have put a lot of time and love into it over the years. Incredibly disappointed, but I can't bring myself to only give 1 star as the primary fault lies here on Yelp featuring the wildly outdated photos that still show this place having actual seating with table service. This place apparently used to be a bistro/deli several years ago, but is now more of a bodega with barely enough room to walk around the crammed display shelves. This little store is ran by a a local Mediterranean family, and they are so kind enough to share their recipes with us through their menu. They serve Mediterranean food, southern comfort food, and classic American favorite dishes as well. Their food is served fast, and with convenience, but you can tell that everything was made with a picked out, or made with a pair of hands. I wish they never got rid of their patio seating area. What a quaint little spot in a neat little section of town. Right now there is a lot of construction so parking is a challenge, but let me tell you, it's worth the drive around the block a few times to find a spot. Lovely people work here and they are quite happy to go over the menu with you and answer any questions. They have a pretty extensive menu of sandwiches and sides for lunch. There are also others dishes such as stuffed peppers and daily specials. Our first time here we got a to-go order as my daughter was in the hospital and craving "real" food. We ordered Greek Salads, Hummus Wrap, and some double decker Reuben's. Sides of chips come with the sandwiches, and you can get potato salad, pasta salad and a couple other choices as well. Everyone loved their food, even after having to take a trip through the tunnel over to the hospital. it stayed hot and fresh all the way. Our next visit was just my oldest and myself celebrating her release from the hospital after surgery. She had the daily special which was a pork loin Po-Boy with Remoulade sauce. I had the Reuben as it is an all time favorite sandwich of mine. We split the large portions so we each had 1/2 of each type. We asked for additional Remoulade sauce, not because the sandwich needed it but just because it was so darn good. I ended up dipping the ends of my Reuben in it as well. We told the server and the owner they needed to have that on other things as it was incredible. My Reuben was just like I like it. Hot, toasty bread, with piles of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was yummy. We split a Baklava and it was perfect. Most of the time Baklava is so-so sweet that you can't enjoy more than a tiny bite. This was not overly sweet with a hint of honey and nice and crispy Filo surrounding the filling of nuts and goodness. Most definitely a return spot on our next visit to this area. it's a pretty area to walk around in as well and enjoy a pretty day. 1 time visit. Food was low end... Ordered a Reuben, and my wife ordered a breakfast plate. Food took way too long, for a fairly quiet, late morning eat. Reuben came out cold, minimal meat, minimal sauerkraut, bread was kind neat, as it was thinner then most, but lacked the. Classic rye flavor, and was deep-fried, not fried in grease, which is how I like them. Kinda a "house version" but unfortunately, their version doesn't come close the taste, flavor, texture of a classic Reuben. Nice people, serving but they may have been one person short? Oh I initially ordered a Greek Salad, with an "add Anchovies for $1.75" in parentheses, but they "changed their menu" and didn't have any anchovies, lol...then switched to the Reuben. If you are Mediterranean shop, probably should either remove references and prices for Anchovies from your menu items all together, change the style-decor, or something..to send a clear message, and then deliver in that. They make a decent gyros. The fries are made to order and the service is friendly. The gyros meat is not shaved off of a spit...at least when it's ordered. It's refrigerated, then microwaved. So, you won't get that sear that a spit/roaster gives you. Nevertheless, it was good enough. read more

The first time I walked into Granby Bistro & Deli, I felt like I stepped through my screen into the restaurant from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Sure, the decor is a little dialed down, and no one was trying to spray Windex on a zit (hopefully, you've seen the movie or this reference is going to be a real miss), but the family-centered Mediterranean spirit was the same. Since my first visit, I've been back several times. My favorite thing on the menu is probably the chicken salad, but the gyro and the All-American club are close seconds. What I like about this place is that it that everything is simple - what you see is what you get. The serving sizes are moderate but fair, and the prices are phenomenal! You can get a sit-down lunch for under $10.00 easy. The only reason for four versus five stars is the service can be on the slower side. I've gone for lunch a few times and been late returning to work because it takes a little while to get the food and pay the check. With that in mind, I wouldn't recommend going on a day when you're tight for time. read more

I love the old school deli vibe. The owner came to my table one time, an elderly and sweet man, and gave me a sample of a recipe he was trying. It was a Mediteranean dish. He wanted an opinion. I stopped in here with a co-worker who told me about the place and had recently tried it out as well. Upon entering it's more like being inside an old country shop than a bistro. If you look to the left you see a brick wall adored with pictures and some crockery and on the back wall you'll see the deli / counter area. Tables and seats fill the rest of the establishment. We took a seat and the server came right over and took a drink order and provided menus. I found the menu large and varied with tons of choices... I selected some Ham & Bean Soup for a starter and a club sandwich. My co-worker choose the lunch special of the day which was meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Our food arrived not 5 to 6 minutes after we order and was excellent. The club I had was the perfect portion for lunch and I didn't hear any complaints from my co-worker either. I barely had a chance to snap a photo before his meal was destroyed. Last but certainly not least the server brought us each a slice of home made pumpkin pie. What a perfect way to cap off a lunch. I've walked by here a number of times over the last year and a half and for the life of me I don't know why I haven't stopped in here before now, and you can bet your bottom dollar I'm gonna be back soon. The food here was good, but not great. It was a group of 8 of us so the food took a while to get to us. The hummus was freshly made. The portion was big but the hummus was grainy and not very smooth. I had the falafel plate. The food was good, but the waitress forgot the pita bread pieces so I had to request for her to bring them for me and two of my other friends. She also kept forgetting to bring my friend his water. My other friend had the New York style sandwich. He said it was not made like the New York style he has had of this sandwich. I am about to make a bold statement. Granby Bistro has THE best hummus I have ever tasted. You probably don't believe me. It's OK, I once was a doubter. That was until a colleague, whom I met there for coffee and snacks, insisted that I try it after making the same bold statement which I have reiterated above. I had to taste for myself. I don't know what they put in it, but it is silkier than, well, silk. On top of the silky cloud of garbanzo deliciousness, they drizzle olive oil and it come with olives and feta and pita points and such. It almost makes me want to be a vegetarian again. But, nah... I ordered boxed lunches for a company event, 78 people, and everyone loved, LOVED their lunches. The lunches I ordered were Flying Saucer, Chicken Salad, Double Decker, Turkey Club, and Gyro's. I did a 50/50 on the sides and they were great. The sides I chose were either Pasta Salad or Potato Salad. The potato salad was definitely home made because store bought always has a type of after taste to them. The pasta salad also was homemade with various seasonings, probably could have used a touch more of the sauce but still otherwise awesome. I like to support small businesses and I'm so glad I gave them a try. I know they will get more business from this order because people kept asking me where I ordered the lunches from and when I told them, they were surprised they had never heard of them and they said they would have to order from there in the future. This place is eclectic and darling. Their menu is ever changing so it never gets boring. There portions are appropriate and I've never had anything I didn't love. The seating is also unique. Interlaced with art and pillows, local and not. They have a great selection of teas and wine (my two top faves). Free wifi. There is also outside seating. It's in Ghent, so there's a college crowd and some close by shops that include crafts and collectibles. There's also a back area that's a bit more quiet. W O W!! This place is fantastic! Upon entering, what you first notice is the decor. It's very homey and clean. The presentation is beautiful. I believe the serve outside as well but it was very windy today when we went. Our waitress greeted us right away and we (my mother and I) sat in a booth. The waitress told us the specials and my mom ordered their Reuben and I got the pork loin po-boy (the special). Sides are typically chips but you can get fries, pasta salad, or potato salad instead. Food arrived very quickly and was hot and fresh. My po-boy was to die for. The sauce was homemade and it had thick pickles and melted cheese. I got extra remoulade and put it all over everything because it was that tasty. I had the potato salad as well and it was very good. Their sandwiches are also served with a pickle. My mom's Reuben was also very good. (We like to do the 50/50 swap). I would have preferred more sauerkraut on mine but the meat was tender and juicy. She had the pasta salad which was so much more than pasta on a plate. It had fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives as well. We split a piece of baklava and the waitress was more than happy to warm it for us. That was heaven!! Flaky and not too sweet; the honey taste was perfect and I could have eaten half a dozen! This is the old school kind of place where after two or three visits the owner remembers you. The interior is not at all fancy, featuring brick walls, and miminal decor. There is a medium sized TV on the wall, usually tuned in to a news channel. They have very reasonable pricing, and Mon-Fri run good lunch specials. I love their Greek Salad. They also have a good gyros, which are frequently on special. When the weather gets cooler again, I'll be back to trying out their soups too. Never had a bad meal here. read more
