11:30AM Sunday is a great time before the church crowd gets in. Friendly and was greeted right away and offered different seating options. I love that. Supe sweet Service but I can see that if they get super busy that would be less. This looks like a popular locals spot. Beautiful bar area. If you are waiting on being seated you can grab a drink. They have 2 separate rooms and some really nice outside seating. Let's get down to the food, *Hashbrown-perfection and I think they are homemade they are so good *Gyro-Flavor was perfect. I would like a couple more slices of meat but it was really delicous. *Fruit as a side-Fresh and a good variety. So colorful and Yummy *Portabella mushroom sandwich on Focaccia bread- OH MY GOODNESS!!!! The Focaccia bread is extremely good. VERY FRESH and fluffy. The flavors of the sandwich are great. Has a sweet sauce along with pesto. fresh mozzerella and baby portabella's. It was perfect. You do need to eat it quickly because the bread gets mushy . I was in the area and looked on YELP for places to eat and this popped up. I love Yelp because when I travel it is such a perfect app to use to find the best places to go. Looking forward to going back, the menu has a lot to offer.

Overall would not go back! Nothing was that great! Food- Nothing was that yummy. The highlight was my husband's oven baked sandwich and their fresh bread as well as the homemade chips Everything else we tried was just mediocre or not flavorful: Grilled cheese, not all the way cooked, soup of the day was a chicken macaroni, kids cheese pasta-not great, pancakes-have a lot Berger elsewhere. Also charged $1 for a little cup of marinara sauce and $.75 cents for a side of ranch. Service-Awful! Our waitress hardly checked on us. Another woman who worked there was extremely rude when we did ask her for some help since our waitress was not around. They do have a second room and maybe that is why we were hardly checked on, but if you know you have someone in there, check in on them.

I've brought multiple people here including my in-laws, friends and both parents when visiting. I love the menu, the patio, location and food. I especially enjoy their breakfast all day menu which is loaded with goodies as well as their chicken salad plates and fresh baked goodies. The last two times I've visited however the service has been clipped, barely civil and barely there. On this last visit - my dad and I had lunch here on a Sunday at around 2pm. He had the breakfast burger with fries and I had the chicken salad sandwich with focaccia. I ordered my daughter some cheesy scrambled eggs which were out quickly and very good and fresh. The food was good but our waitress was not attentive at all. Once she took our order we didn't see her again until we were fully done eating our meal despite the fact that our food was delivered (by someone else) and she was lingering nearby talking to a table and asking if they needed refills, napkins and to-go boxes while we sat assuming she'd eventually ask how things were. She didn't. She was quick to drop the ticket and linger to make sure we paid though. She wasn't outwardly rude but just somewhat cold and inattentive. After this and thinking about it, service was the same last time. The website says they close at 4 but by 3pm our waitress was asking if she could refill our sugar caddy and was sweeping all around us and they were doing final closing things with our table and another in the midst. My dad asked for one more tea refill and was told that they were out. I was a server - I understand wanting to be done and ready to go home but, it can wait until people leave the actual table they're at I think. Plus, being ignored the entire time we ate without a follow-up was the icing on my review update cake. It's cute - but it hasn't been 5 stars for me since the first visit.

Friendly staff, great food. Cozy restaurant. Amazing quality for the price. Everything is fresh. Bread is baked daily, tables get sourdough snack bread while waiting. Food comes out fast and is plated well.

My wife has been telling me about Ezma's for several months, and I finally got the chance to visit. I was not disappointed. Ezma's is off the beaten path in a non-descript strip mall, but it apparently has a very loyal clientele as the place filled up rapidly during lunch. Upon entering, I was impressed with the casual air of a Caribbean beach bar and accompanying booths. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Even as it got busy, we never felt rushed. My wife was impressed by the omelettes. So was I. They were light, cooked to order, with fresh ingredients. It was one of the best omelettes I've had in Virginia Beach. The accompanying fruit was an abundant serving and very fresh. We also tried the sourdough French toast, which was simple, served with fresh strawberries, and very tasty. A brief comment about a lunch item: During a previous visit, my wife did not care for the stuffed cabbage which was well cooked but too acidic. We were impressed with the breakfast selections. We will return soon to sample more of the lunch menu. Yes, they sell fat loaves of bread in the back!

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a night when they started hosting music. Unfortunately, the kitchen was backed up, so it took a longer than expected time to get our food. Since we were not starving, we didn't make a big deal about it. But under normal circumstances, I think we would have been annoyed and might have left. Anyways, while we waited, we got a small bread basket. The bread was freshly baked and quite yummy with a pat of butter. My husband order the Cheeseburger, and I ordered the gyro sandwich. Both sandwiches came on a pita 'bun' with was different for us. Maybe 3 of my homemade chips were crispy. But for the most part, they were all limp. Overall, the ambience was welcoming and the staff were friendly. Our little server barely checked on us. I had to wave her down, but like I said taking in to consideration what was going on that night, I think we will try to visit on a night with no music.

Finally decided today was the day to try this place. Everyone raves about it so I've been wanting to try it for a while. I peeped the menu before I came and settled on the fitness bowl. Well that didn't happen. The smokehouse pizza just sounded so amazing, so I got that instead. It IS amazing. The garlic crust is so good and I like that the ham was fresh sliced ham and not little cubes of ham. I got the small pizza and was only able to eat three pieces. I took the rest home. My friend got the waffles and said they were yummy. Service was great and there were a few other tables of folks eating. We came right when they opened so they didn't have a chance to get crazy busy yet. I can't wait to come back and get more of this pizza out here margherita pizza. They have breakfast pizzas too, but this smokehouse was so good I prob won't stray from it.

Back in the Spring, Ezma's was profiled on Channel 13 for their Friday Flavor segment. The backstory on how the owner immigrated from Bosnia to live the American dream was just fascinating. Since then, they landed on my Yelp Collection and finally, Sophia and I got the chance to try them out and see if the hype lived up to the billing. We managed to arrive right before they opened up where a small crowd waited for seating, especially a big group from a local church. After getting seated, we went right to ordering. Both of us ordered the blueberry cream cheese breakfast pizza with a side of sausage and coffee. It did take awhile to come out since the bigger party that had more attention that the smaller tables, but I'll tell you this, the wait was truly worth it. The pizza alone is enough for two people so you really don't need any sides at all. Each slice was covered with fresh blueberries, cream cheese and enough whipped cream to cover each. I'll admit I'm not a big fan of blueberries, but this dish here was no problem at all. It was so much that we both had to-go boxes. You'll never go wrong with a full stomach :) This was truly a delight. Great decor, friendliness from the staff and great food. What more can you ask for? Definitely will be a repeat. Till next time :)

Ezma's Bread Box Cafe is located in the Village Shoppes at Rose Hall. This is located on Virginia Beach Blvd. in the Rose Hall historical district. If heading west on Virginia Beach Blvd. to get here, you'll need to make a U-turn at the Cranston Ln/Eromne St. traffic light. I have visited this place several times now, and my most recent visit was on October 2, 2022. Although you can't easily see the place from the road, there are some flying markers along the road to let you know it is there. It is tucked in to this shopping area. Depending on the day of the week and time of day, parking can get a little tight, but there have been no issues so far with these visits. On the outside, you can see the place easily when in the parking area. The green and white colors, as well as the flowers in front of the outdoor seating area, help showcase the place. There are welcoming features and signs outside too, along with just after entering the restaurant. We were immediately greeted when we came in. They were pretty busy, but there was plenty of seating available too. The hostess that seated us asked us what we wanted to drink. For those that like to keep track, they offer Pepsi products here. A moment or two later, our drinks were brought to the table by our server Tony. I actually recognized him from Bahama Breeze. Small world. Both my mom and I were ready to order at that time too, as we had actually looked at the menu online several days before. Since we were here for breakfast on this first visit, I ordered the Meat Breakfast Pizza, but with all bacon instead of bacon and ham. My mom ordered the Create Your Own Omelet with bacon, cheddar cheese, spinach and onions, with hash browns and sourdough toast as the sides. It would be less than ten minutes for the food to come out. The food looked really good and was very hot, so we both had to wait a few moments to dig in. The pizza was nice and big. I would only have a portion of it, and then brought the rest of it home to have as breakfast one day during that upcoming week. My mom also really liked the omelet and sides too. Since this was a great experience, we came back the following week for brunch/lunch instead of just breakfast. On this second visit, we were immediately seated and we had our same server Tony as the week before. Since I did a breakfast item last week, I wanted to try a lunch item instead. I was torn between doing the Classic Meatball Oven Baked Sandwich or the Roast Beef Sandwich. Tony helped me decide and I went with the Classic Meatball. My mom went with the Bread Box Scrambler with bacon, cheddar cheese, fruit, and sourdough toast. In less than ten minutes, the food came out nice and hot again. Let me tell you, the Classic Meatball Sandwich was huge with 16 meatballs on it. It was damn good too. I brought half of it home to have for lunch another day. The homemade chips that came with it were great too. I loved the spice that was on them because they had a nice kick to them too. The scrambler that my mom had was good too and it was also a nice portion size. Our server was great during each visit. There were other servers around too that also checked on us throughout each visit. One thing that was also great is that Ezma came out to visit everyone at each table on both of my visits. You can tell she is very passionate about what she does. It was great to be able to talk with her. Overall, we have had nothing but excellent experiences here, and will continue to come back and patronize this local brunch establishment. As of the time of this review, they don't offer any discounts, so I just wanted to let everyone know that. They have a great staff and great food. If you are looking for a hidden gem of a brunch spot, look no further than coming here.

Are there any Gluten free options?🌻

I have not seen any gluten free options published, but I would contact them directly to confirm.

I heard rumors that Ezma's bread box is moving?

They did move some time ago to the shopping center next to the original one they were at. I don't see any plans to move from where they are now.

Do you show breakfast menu online?

They do publish their menu online. You can find their menu at: https://www.eatatbreadbox.com/main-menu/

I already knew this was my destination as I had been following them since they opened in VB. Upon our arrival we found the Cafe about a 1/4th of the way full so I had hopes for breakfast in a quiet setting. Even though there was a steady flow of traffic, we were able to dine in a relaxed setting without feeling rushed. I mention this because with it being a holiday weekend full of Jeepers, I fully expected them to be packed. The wait to order was too long as it left me staring at the pastry window so long I almost ordered one of everything however; I refrained from doing so but still bought 4 pastries, French toast & seasoned potatoes. Yes yes, alot of food for 1 person but I still had 2 days left in my visit and well, I have a thing for pastries. The pastries were: mango & passion fruit eclair, a pineapple muffin, lemon raspberry cake & profiteroles. I loved everything with the exception of the eclair. It wasn't anything against the eclair, it's just the mango/passionfruit mixture was just too passionate for my tastes. The muffin reminded me of my own homemade upside pineapple cake without all the brown sugar. It was light and buttery. The Lemon raspberry slice was delightful & not the least bit tart or too sweet. A mixture of both flavors without either one overpowering the other. The cake was super moist, perfect. The profiteroles were my favorite. They reminded me of that feeling I had the 1st time I tasted them while living in Italy. The choux perfectly baked and so delightfully light. The French toast was good enough without the side of syrup. The star for me of the breakfast items were the potatoes. I LOVED them. They were served HOT, seasoned just right with their insides softer that a baby bottom. I coulda just ordered 2 servings of those & bypassed the toast. All in all, well worth the wait. The folks were friendly, the Cafe clean and the seating plentiful and comfortable. I would recommend this place for both pastries & French toast & spuds.

First of all can I just say WOW!…read more We were excited at the first because we thought the Neat Bird from Chesapeake had a new location in Norfolk Colley Avenue but there chicken sandwich was even delicious here too with a different owner! We met the owner, he is a cool band guy with a mustache name Dand. The drinks he made for us were so good and so was the way he talked with his staff and the way they worked together. My parner and I had seen that they pride themselfes on Scottish eggs, which we were lucky to try and it was also very delicious! We like that they have the vibe and also a board with many events of the community on the wall to check out while you sip on a delicious expresso martini. You order at the register, and the staff brings the food out to your table. Everyone was attentive, and we had no issues with the service. We ordered the waffle plate, which came topped with fruit alongside eggs and their house sausage. We also tried the Huevos Rancheros, the Sausage Egg & Cheese sandwich, and a build-your-own omelette. For drinks, we ordered the brown sugar cold brew, dulce de leche cold brew, drip coffee, and an espresso martini. The waffle was huge, and the sides were great. My only complaint was that it could have used more fruit, as there were only a few small pieces. The Huevos Rancheros were delicious and came with a generous serving of avocado. The only thing that caught us off guard was the lack of salsa, since in traditional Huevos Rancheros the salsa is a key component. Even so, the dish was still flavorful and filling. The omelette was excellent, and the breakfast sandwich was equally delicious. I was especially impressed by the house-made jam, house-made hot sauce, and the perfectly seasoned home fries. As for the drinks, the brown sugar cold brew was excellent, but the dulce de leche version was far too sweet for my taste. From what I understood, they use two flavored syrups to make it, and I think using smaller portions of each would create a better balance. We ended up adding oat milk and some drip coffee to tone it down. The drip coffee itself was solid and came with free refills. The espresso martini really tied brunch together for me -- strong, well-made, and delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed both the food and the experience, and we'll definitely be back.
