I figured it wouldn't hurt to visit Summit Dental for their evaluation of what was happening. A co-worker recommended this group and he gave me the impression from his experience that they were honest. I've only been there once, but I can say, so far so good. Cara my dental assistant was very personable and professional, Dr. Marcincin gave me the most thorough dental check up I have ever had in my life. She found the cause of my issue and referred me to Dr. Tony Kardelis in Frisco for a possible root canal, which I already suspected was the issue. She also did some minor grinding down of a filling, which by the way she kept checking in, like my beloved dentist back home, I presume she's a no pain and careful dentist. On my way out, front desk was awesome. I think it was Lyndsey who explained in detail everything my insurance covered, Delta Dental (which was the entire bill) and what I would likely be looking at at the Frisco office and how best to manage what's left of my benefits for this year. The office is well-decorated and cozy with accent walls and aesthetically-pleasing black and white photos of people with ridiculously white teeth. They have complimentary fruit and drinks (orange juice, green tea, water, etc.), free yummy chapstick, and of course your obligatory floss and toothpaste. The exam/cleaning rooms all have nice, big windows, so you can look out the window or watch TV while you are having work done, your choice. Also, you have the option of dipping your hands in a paraffin wax bath for a nice hand treatment as you get your teeth done. Absolutely genius ... I mean, if you're sitting there for an extended period of time anyway, why not? Everyone I interacted with there was very pleasant, but, most importantly, honest. Dr. Alber has a very frank, here's-how-it-is personality, which I really appreciated. He told me I should consider having my wisdom teeth out in the near future, and when I admitted that I thought I would be doing that on my next visit to Peru, he encouraged me. "Heck, they can do it for a lot cheaper than I can -- and they have good dentists!" he said. I really appreciated that because he could have said something like "Well, the only way you can be SURE to have it done well is to go through me." I loved the no-upsale approach. My visit was very cheap; with insurance, it ended up being $22, but without it would have been $110 for cleaning, xrays, and checkup. I will definitely be going back.

In a few days, it was gone. They told me I needed a root canal and set up another appointment. I know I put it in my calendar on my phone but must not have saved it. Anyway, I missed it and they left a voicemail telling me that toothache would come back. It has been a year and all is well. The issue with this dentist is that their prices are over the top exorbitant. The two appointments lasted a combined 1.5 hours and each appointment was $190.00. Almost 400 dollars. I believe they are good but long story short I cannot afford to go here again. Do I really need a root canal?

In under two hours they cleaned up the old tooth, took images to 3D print a crown mold and cast and fired the new crown for placement. It was perfect and needed no adjustment once fitted. On top of this efficiency, they have extra niceties such as a special device to rest my jaw on while the work was performed, along with an iPad loaded with Netflix and Bose headphones to keep me distracted. Highly recommend.
