It's a all inclusive resort on alot of ocean front property accessible by walking or there constantly running golf cart trollies, lots of pools to explore including a swim up bar and the ocean with a protected bay for snorkeling. I stayed here at the Grand Bahai Principe Tulum. I enjoyed myself. I had a great time for the price point. Buffet was on point for me I will say that most of it was pretty tasty. What I didn't like was that you can only go to one restaurant for every three days you're at the resort so really we were only supposed to go to two restaurants because of our days but we were able to finesse six different reservations. I will say the restaurants are the best thing to go to they should really find a way to open those up more and I think they have more people happy about the food. The top two restaurants with the Indian restaurant and the Brazilian meat restaurant everything was delicious staff was on point everything great 10 out of 10. We took a ride to the other resort coba, that was a one out of 10. Staff was not helpful, Buffet was crowded and super noisy, more kids over there I think it's more of a kids resort on that side. Security weren't helpful and just played on their phone I wouldn't suggest Coba at all. Chalum had a lot of great activities for people to do bicycle riding snorkeling and a second etc. we went bike riding and we had a great time that to see the whole resort get some information get to see the casino and the buyers market definitely was a great experience I can't wait to check out to Tulum, again read more

Seeing the dolphins held in captivity was heart crushing. I don't consider myself an animal activist by any sorts but it was so easy to see these poor creatures were in distress as they circled the tiny pool endlessly. I will not be returning as long as these dolphins remain held captive here. For anyone else who doesn't understand, you can just google dolphins held captive to understand how these creatures die from self harm or psychological trauma or starvation when they're forced to exist in a space like this. Dolphins travel 50 to 60 miles a day .. keeping them in this tiny pool is like keeping a human trapped in a coffin when they are alive. read more

This is a great hotel to come to and relax with the family. The staff is super nice and helpful. It's clean, everything is kept up and the food is AMAZING!! One of the most delicious buffets I have ever tasted. They have such a vast variety and each night is a new theme. My 7 year old called it his favorite buffet he only wanted to eat there! They have trolleys that take u to 4 other resort lobby's that r also apart of the Bahia Principe chain. They move quick so as soon as u hear where they're going next u better be jumping on that seat. One big recommendation I would like to give is to book any speciality dinning in advance. They r also included in the all inclusive plane so might as well give them a try. We specially enjoyed Frutos de Mar (servers were Leonardo & Alejandro) and Alux (adult only). Both were superb!! Amazing service, so kind and understanding, very polite. And the food, OMG!! U have to try it for ur self. So delicately made and with so much flavor. The dishes they serve back @ the states would cost @ least $24-$30. With all the wonderful pros there r some cons. I was highly disappointed with the beach . It was dirty and lots of rocks underneath. There were some workers trying to clean it off but it wasn't enough, it's the ocean and two men can't clean it all on their own. I recommend wearing water shoes to avoid and injuries. Next, is their drinks. If u have in mind in chillin pool side with a delicious margarita in ur hand.... ur wrong. Their drinks r the worst I have ever had. And I ordered just about anything and everything I could think of. From pina colada to my number one favorite Long Island. They were all gross, I gave up and stuck with water. I mean one bartender didn't even know what a Long Island was so he made it up and served me a pineapple juice with some kind of cheap liquor. Lastly, out of all the staff in this enormous resort there, of course, had to be one that makes everyone else look bad. And that was the breakfast and lunch buffet hostess. I mean she seriously hates her job. She won't smile, won't say hello, doesn't even offer u a tequila shot from the table she is standing next to ( maybe she should be taking a couple of shots herself). Stayed at Grand Tulum The food wasn't very good. A lot of it lacked flavor or seasoning. You can make one dinner reservation which is weird because any other all inclusive I've stayed at let's you book a different restaurant every night if there's availability. What's worse is that many of the restaurants were empty at night so I don't understand the point of the restriction. Drinks were extremely watered down and all the mixed drinks were extra sweet-- unnecessarily sweet. I don't know what extra crap they're adding to the mix but nothing tasted like it was supposed to. I recommend drinking your alcohol of choice with soda/soda water and calling it a day. Service was great. Their wait staff is all super nice and sweet and I have zero complaints on that front. They work hard and always seem to do it with a smile. Front desk staff: Sigh. I understand there may be limitations to what they can do but it felt like they were never actually trying to be helpful. Things were okay until I decided to extend my stay for two days. It took forever to get my My Bahia Principe rate (I had to call the customer service number... wtf. By the way the My Bahia Principe thing is b.s. I didn't get special checkin or a special wristband or any of that crap... anyway), as a result of extending my stay I lost my complimentary airport transfer provided by the hotel so I paid $100 to get a taxi to the airport. The hotel simply had to grant me a new voucher and they wouldn't. It's not smart business. They're 90mins away from the airport. You should do everything in your power to make sure I want to come back here. I have a million other options down the road. There are soooo many hotels in QuintanaRoo. Whatever. Room: it was clean but very basic. The rooms had little touches that tried to elevate the decor but overall it felt like furniture was missing from the room. It was very barebones. Also, we asked for two beds in the room. For some reason the beds are practically joined/connected. They're pushed together and because some of the nightstand stuff is fixed to the wall, you can't pull them apart. It was not ideal but we adjusted. Pool: The filter doesn't work fast enough because there was always a bunch of crap floating in the pools. I found myself swatting stuff away from me constantly. Bugs, leaves, trash, you name it. Beach: over run with seaweed. You couldn't use it. Even the little areas that they closed off with a net and tube, that were supposed to be clear of seaweed daily, was still full of seaweed. I understand that you can't control nature but don't tell us that you're going to clear an area for us to use and not do it. Activities: I enjoyed the water volleyball and water polo but they have to stop letting kids play with adults. There were parents harassing other adult players about how they were playing with their kid. The players didn't want the kids in the game anyway but the staff wasn't telling them they couldn't play. Keep in mind there's a whole kids pool and a teen lounge. Activities just for them. I don't understand why they have to be in the adult activities too. The place felt overrun with children at times. They even had some talent show/singing thing for kids in the lobby bar! It was frustrating. Overall I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. There are way too many hotels in the area for you to choose from. It would be a waste of money. I've stayed at a lot of all-inclusives and this one is by far one of the worst. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy myself while there but I know what's out there and this just didn't hit the mark. Amazing! We have been here twice and I have been very impressed both times. Clean hotel, friendly staff, great pools and bars. The hacienda with a disco and a casino is a nice touch! Coba is very kid friendly. The real reason we were there though was for our wedding! They did an amazing job. I recommend them to everyone!! From the planning to the minister, photos and dinner and dance after all so good! Now the reason it isn't getting a 5/5 is a guest did get hand foot and mouth disease while staying here. There is no way to say for sure he got it here but he did not leave the resort except once So that was a damper on things but all in all very good read more

We came to the Grand Tulum location from the USA and meet my sister from Turkey the last week of September'22. For us; the price was so good and we booked their website, which ended up cheaper than other websites. I paid ocean view room for 7 nights all inclusive of 2 for less than $1400, so I do not think I have the right to complain but just letting you know my experience: Location: middle of Tulum(30 min drive) and Cancun airport(1-hour drive) to Cancun downtown (1 hour 30 min). In front of the beach. (We booked a rental car for a week and paid a little less than $400 with insurance, definitely recommend that bc taxi charge you from the airport almost $100 us dollars)(ps: be careful in the gas station, if you do not have a peso they exchange money for a US dollar way higher. We paid $32 for 450 pesos (($22 originally) -nothing around the hotel within walking distance. Food: -so bad, there are various types of food, but they all have the same taste which is no taste! Before I go there I read all comments that said the same thing but I thought everyone is covid or something how you can not taste anything? But trust me that is all true. I guess they do not want you to enjoy and eat more since it is all-inclusive. We booked twice restaurant reservation comes with your booking 3 times during your visit. Brazilian rest was okay, but when we booked for Mexican rest(don Juan) had a problem. When we showed up at the restaurant on our time; it was closed! I mean like closed closed! That was a bummer! -drinks were terrible just fruit juice! I swear I was craving to drink a nice margarita the whole week! Our last night Carmen prepared us drink promised 3 shots in small cup, boy!,and there was still nothing! At that moment I understood that all liquor bottles were filled with water. (Bc normally I do not have the endurance for alcohol but telling u there was nothing and I watched him while he was making my drink). +there are snack bars almost 24 hours, and still nice to have ready food while you are a group of people and do not need to plan to go somewhere and come back. +still nice to have food always The team: +omg! You cannot believe how friendly and smiling people are all around the hotel, from housekeeping to servers, everyone! If it was in Us, people would run when they see you to not help; but over there when you show up in the restaurant they are running to you if you need anything, checking on you with little English and a lot of smiles! -front desk would be a little more friendly, I guess they are bored with what they doing. I understand that they repeatedly do the same thing all day, but I flew 10 hours flight and 1-hour driving, so I could use a little more smile or help. Nothing bad, but compared to other workers; they need to be a little less snobby maybe. -hard to find someone who speaks English, still they are helpful. so prepare your Spanish, or body language:) Room: +housekeeping comes every day with fresh towels and making your bed, cleaning all rooms. +mini bar is free. It has 2 small sodas 2 cans of beers and 2 bottles of water. And they renewed every day. -towels always had stains on them. It was hard to find a white towel in the room without a stain on it. -shampoo and conditioner stuff were bad!!!! I recommend to the hotel not to give it to the customers at all! It was like dish soap all! -Ac does not work if you use lights in the room(!), When we realized it was super wear called the front desk, and the guys came he said do not use lights at the same time, or it is gonna stay weak. Beach&Pool: +They have towels. Beautiful beach cleaned by workers every day from seaweeds and other stuff. The pool has a bar in it; while u are sitting in the pool,u can order and drink your margarita(which is just juice). They have beach volleyball, water polo, entertainment in the pool area all day, sun beds are everywhere,u never gonna be out of one. There are shade areas. -you can get a towel from the pool but you have to return by 6 pm or you gotta carry your room and bring it back the next day(!). Sounds like no problem but 6 is early for Mexico sun, and the hotel is huge, kinda problem to carry it to your room under 90 degrees! - while you are getting relaxed at the beach, the tractor is coming and parking in front of you (between your sunbed and the ocean) and collecting first from the workers. So it is not a nice atmosphere they are doing while you are chilling. But I understand, when they can do it anyway! So it is just 30 min thing. So far we picked here for a budget-friendly Tulum vacation, it gave us what we expected compared to the price we paid. I recommend it if you carry your alcohol bottle, and go out to eat for dinner. Do not book here. Myself and my family stayed here during COVID and the resort was okay, nice price. We decided to return for Christmas this year. We booked months in advance to secure the best deal. We booked through Priceline and guaranteed our reservation with a credit card. Around a week before the stay we began receiving emails from the hotel with a link to pay for our stay even though we had already secured through Priceline. These emails said that our reservation would be cancelled in 24 hours if we did not pay. We tried to pay but the link wouldn't work. We spent an exhausting amount of time calling and emailing the hotel. The emails were not returned and when someone did answer at the hotel we would be put on eternal hold or hung up on. Other times we would get a voicemail that the hotel was closed. Our reservation was cancelled a few days before our scheduled stay. We already had flights booked. We had to scramble at the last minute to find another place to stay and ended up paying double what we were going to spend at Bahia Principe. Likely a scam to book our rooms for a higher price. Pool swim up bar closed and it is not due to Covid. My wife and I are in Mexico for a month and prior two resorts the swim up bar was open. When I inquired they said it was a state law which is simply untrue. No staff available for drink orders. You have to exit pool and find a bar that will be open for a drink with a line ten to a dozen people deep. The food is good but definitely not the vacation I paid for. Do not recommend! read more

This place has bug problems. They need exterminators ASAP I switched rooms only to find out it was just as bad as the first room. Possible bed bugs, dirty curtains dirty door knobs no hand soap. I stayed here back in 2018 & I had an incident where two of the workers tried to break into my room with me and my girlfriend ( because they saw us on the balcony mid day alone.) we told Them to go away and they didn't. To be honest it was really scary, especially cause during the day the hotel room area ( which is different than the main eating/ activity area,) is pretty deserted. Luckily it had a double lock and we had a couple of our friends come save us so they ran off once they heard foot steps but for solo female travelers.... I'm not sure about this one. BUT the manager of the place was very apologetic and asked me to call him immediately if this happens again which I really appreciate. He seemed to care. Maybe just some horny house keepers? Besides that the rest of the staff was nice, food was great, drinks got me drunk and beach was nice ( a lot of seaweed so more of a pool place with an ocean view LOL.) The tour companies they have on the property are excellent and safe and all speak English 100% well! read more

I have never reviews a place when I am still present, however my frustration with this place prompt my review. The service is this place is terrible. The employees seem quite disgruntled and rude. At the buffet it is impossible to get drinks including water, coffee without asking at least 4 times. I have been tipping generously hoping to get a better response but nope... 24 hour restaurant is not really 24 hour. We missed breakfast which ends at 10:30.... so went to the 24hr place they had nothing ready and rudely told us come back at 12. The drinks.... honestly I have never had watered down beer so that's a first. Everything is watered down. Rip off Rest assured you will get service from people selling tours, or trying to convince you to join some privilege club !! Worst resort in Mexico. We arrived at our resort. We were shown a picture of an upgraded room at a different resort with a king bed. We got there only to find 2 single beds. We were told nothing could be done until we pushed the issue. They miraculously found us a room the next day with a king bed. We attempted to make dinner reservations. The first night was fine. The second night our reservation was lost. We went to guest services to find out our reservations had both been made for the previous night a half hour apart. Customer service told us to go see if the restaurant would let us in. We also tried to make additional dinner reservations and our Butler service took all of 10 seconds to tell us there was nothing available between 4 separate resorts with 7 restaurants on each one. We then tried to exchange dollars for pesos at one of the sister resorts and were told we could only exchange money at our resort. We traveled all the way back to our resort only to be told their system couldn't do it unless they scanned our passports, which they already had done. The resort has done the very minimum or less to make it right. The best day we have had was an excursion off of the resort .Don't waste your money coming here. read more

What a great hotel for a great price! The staff was amazing, friendly, and always positive! The bars were always open and kept our drinks full. At the truck, Alberto was so attentive and remembered us from day 1. Julio at the pool bar was always on top of things and went above and beyond. Saie who lead bingo didn't have anyone show up so he sat poolside and let us participate in bingo while in the pool! Maria was literally everywhere all day every day. She was a great entertainer and was so positive and fun every time we came in contact. I was exhausted for her but she loved doing it for us! I wish I got everyone's names because they all treated us so well. The food was great and service was always perfect. The beach was great but we went with a tropical depression on the way so the ocean got a little too dangerous to swim. Which the pool bar easily made up for. I am impressed with the patience the staff had with the drunk guests. They never seemed irritated or impatient. I also enjoyed the shops on the resort that was a quick walk outside the front desk which they offered golf carts for. One improvement I have is just to put an ice machine near the rooms, but the front desk always sent someone with ice within 15 minutes, so it wasn't really a problem. My only complaint is privacy. The bathroom shower has a glass window that you can see through when you get close to the window which was uncomfortable. It also let a lot of light in the blackout room in the morning. Overall this is a great resort and definitely worth the price! Highly recommended and will return! read more
