Beautiful area and resort with lovely and helpful staff that have gone out of their way to be kind and welcoming... then the power went out. what a waste of a weekend trip. We drove 6 hours and took time off work to attend a wedding to be left without power for 3+ hours... who knows when it will come back on, we're going to sleep. It may sound like hyperbole but I never had this problem in any hotel in Zimbabwe, Ghana, or other developing countries with spotty grids in all my years of traveling. There are generators keeping the Friday night wedding dance floors lit but all the rooms are dark. Keeping it two stars because the food and service is great! Now I'm hoping the power doesn't come until The morning so when inevitably all the lights and systems whirl to life my sleeping toddler doesn't wake with a fury that can't be put back down. read more

This place was packed! All kinds of activities going on here this weekend. They had a clam bake and a beer and food festival this weekend. We had a great time at the Clam bake, lots of good food and great cold beer. The next day we were entertained by a fantastic singer on the patio. This place is expensive but it is a great place to visit. It is very family friendly with lots of activities for children, as well as three great pools, including an indoor pool so that children could be fully engaged in fun. Plus all the nice activities for adults, it makes it a wise choice for people who don't want to travel far, but want to enjoy a couple of days away. I loved this lodge! The place is not cheap, but it is beautifully decorated, crown moulding everywhere. Our room had a fireplace, bed was comfy. Bathroom was huge. Full kitchen area and a balcony overlooking scenic mountain, or hills. The bar had lovely truly professionally made cocktails. We had burgers there. Perfect. The brunch had every breakfast food you could think of. Juices, smoothies, omelette station, coffee was good. Outside there was axe throwing with a very patient guide, a little Santa wooden cabin. Lots of photo ops. The Biosphere was pretty, with plants and a large slide and pool. There was a large hot tub that went indoors and outdoors. There was also an outdoor heated pool. Waiters took orders poolside. I had a massage that included a salt foot bath afterwards. And a steam room. Top notch. read more

This resort provides only a few of their 10 restaurants over Thanksgiving. They did offer a buffet dinner or a three course Dinner Thanksgiving dinner paired with wine. The restaurant servers and their back up staff were very good and attentive. The hostesses were atrocious as they didn't listen to guest requests, didn't answer questions clearly and accurately. Cleanliness of the resort is less than desired. They did a great job protecting their staff with masks and face shields. They lacked keeping up with hallway hygiene, with to go left overs sitting two days and not being picked up in the hallways. The pool area was not maintained with wipe downs and used towels were in the chaises after the guests left. Limited service in the spa meant, no showering, no toiletries, no robes and the appearance that they did not pay more attention to GUEST protection, only their staff. The intentions to provide a clean safe experience seem to be in the minds of management but the execution falls short. Their marketing dept did a good job in attracting families from NY as there were many cars with the yellow license plates. Many appeared to lack the understanding of etiquette with no control of the screaming and running about of kids. Impatient Mom's not understanding we are in a pandemic and although there were available seating, families needed to wait due to the 25% max seating capacity rule by NJ and the fact that they were not working with a full staff. My husband treated me to a stay here as an early birthday present, and we had a truly wonderful time! Our room was ready hours earlier than we expected. When my husband made the reservations he mentioned it was for my birthday, and every employee we interacted with, including checking in, wished me a happy birthday It was very sweet and you can tell they make a real effort to provide top-notch service here. We had massages in the spa, which were INCREDIBLE. It's a gorgeous spa, and our technicians were just excellent. After the spa, we had lunch at the Crystal Tavern, which is one of the on-site restaurants. Very cool vibe, great food. We then changed and went down to the pool. We swam in the heated, outdoor pool while it rained on us a bit, which was cool lol Very relaxing! We also checked out the indoor pool and hot tub. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet the next morning, which we had a credit for as part of our reservation. I could eat breakfast food all day long anyway, but this buffet was pretty great. We were stuffed! Since we had a late checkout time, we were able to casually stroll around after breakfast, no rush. The grounds are just stunning. My husband is already talking about going back to golf sometime. Before we left, we were delighted to meet some farm animals that come once a week via a local farm, which is right up my alley lol Petting goats? Yes please. Was disappointed by our stay at this resort. Went here for a bachelorette and felt that it was over priced for what we were getting. Overall disappointed with the level of service we received. Expected a lot more for such a pricey hotel. Food We were disappointed by the food at various locations at the resort. They didn't have very many vegan options at many of the restaurants and often they were not great even if they had them. Throughout the resort we got terrible service at multiple restaurants. We ate at Crystal Tavern and the Springs bistro. For Springs bistro they were 30 minutes late on our reservation and almost made us late for another reservation we had. The coffee place is also super expensive over seven dollars for a vanilla latte with oat milk. That's more expensive than Starbucks. The food throughout was over priced for the quality and didn't have great vegan options. Rooms The room suites for six people are nice but over-priced. They have a kitchen but no microwave only a oven and stove and toaster. They didn't give you any oven mitts so I had to use a towel to get things out of the oven and almost burnt myself because the towel is very thin. They also only had one sheet pan and provided soap but no sponge. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice and spacious. This week had lots of good places to sit and socialize. Spa The most enjoyable portion of our trip was at the spa. Where we got massages. The spa is very nice and our massages were high-quality and relaxing. Out of everything this was by far the best. We really enjoyed the steam room after our massage. Amenities We enjoyed the biosphere pool although it did seem a little small for the size of the resort. It sometimes did get a little crowded. The pool has a fun waterslide some pretty waterfalls and a spa, sauna and steam room. They also have a pool that is outside that is heated. I just wish the temperature was a little warmer for when it was snowing outside. You could only stay in that pool for so long because it was so cold and windy outside if they had made it a few degrees warmer it would've been more comfortable. It was fun to go to the outdoor pool and then run back inside to the steam room we really enjoyed it. Activities We were hoping to do a number of activities at the resort. But unfortunately the majority got canceled due to weather on Saturday. On Sunday we weren't sure if the activities our group was doing were canceled. We went down to the front desk to ask and the woman was very rude and said she would let us know. Our activities were within the hour and we really were trying to figure out what we were going to do the fact they didn't know whether they were gonna have the activity was frustrating. The cabaret night was fun, the guitarist was really great the singer was amazing and the comedian was OK. I think it would've been better to lower the price and pay for each of your drinks or appetizers rather than having an open bar. I know our group did not get our moneys worth and I wish there was an option without an open bar. Also the seating was very uncomfortable and we were cramped into our seats as a big group. read more

Grand Cascade Lodge is our favorite place to stay when skiing at Mountain Creek. We have stayed at Minerals twice and The Appalachian once. However, you'll also be paying the most at Grand Cascade Lodge. The Biosphere pool is not as large at the pool at Minerals but it's much prettier and even has a water slide. read more

It's really unfortunate that I can't give this resort a higher review. I was super excited to visit and take in the sights as the photos are so lovely, but we had quite a rocky visit. Our trip began when we parked in the garage and all of the lights went out. There was a power outage which ended up lasting over two hours. The parking garage was PITCH BLACK, and none of the employees talked to us and updated us on the situation. It was honestly terrifying. We didn't know if the the elevator even worked, so we risked it and got to the room eventually. I understand there's many bugs because of the tons of greenery, but a spider was there to welcome us to our room and we had about 5 flies visit during our 2 days. The electricity came back after we went to the pool and waited for a bit. This was after using our phone lights to navigate the pitch black hallways. There was some decent staff experiences had, but also some poor ones. A highlight for me was the farm visit. The employee working there was super informative and kind. Unfortunately this wasn't a common occurrence. The employee at the cafe was quite rude to us and seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else. The recreation employees at the marshmallow roasting were on their phones and didn't say anything as children burned their sticks in the fire to play. I do think it's a parents' job to do that, but it was a questionable scenario. Lastly, there was some room issues. The toilet seat almost unattached when we first used it and had to fix it. The shower had no lip to stop water from going all over the floor. Lastly, the bathtub's drain stop didn't work. I had to place a cup upside down on the drain just to take a bath. Considering the room is over $600 a night, shouldn't these be working? And shouldn't there be generators for elevators and hallways? Finally, everything here includes costs. You already spend $500+ a night for a room, but drinks at the pool are over $12 each even without alcohol and gratuities are included without always being informed. And nobody tells you until you get your bill that the $30 breakfast credit doesn't work if you're a part of a convention/business trip. They also charge over 3% to use a card, but they only allow card in places! It's a shame a place with such massive potential could fall short. You're better off spending the thousands you'd spend on a 2 day weekend trip on a flight to a resort down south or elsewhere. read more

After a great couples getaway last month, we brought the kiddos for a holiday trip -- and it was a big hit again! Our kids are young (6 and 3), so we didn't sign up for a ton of activities. But they loved the wild animal show, the carriage ride to make s'mores after dinner, and just roaming around the hotel. Added bonus was the ice skating rink and fire pits in front of the property, and my daughter got to play some impromptu shuffleboard. And my wife loved her hot chocolate from the stand outside the rink: This will definitely be a regular stay for us! Stayed here for 3 nights back in October. Perfect time as they also had some music festival going on in the tent outside. Definitely a pricey stay as rooms are outrageously priced and it doesn't even include food. You do get a credit to be used but that was enough for one meal. The hotel is outdated in some spots but super clean. The people working valet were awesome and super nice. I wish I could say the same about the check in staff. They weren't friendly but whatev's. Elevators take forever! I mean minutes to travel to the floor you are just to get on - it's tough when you have luggage and such to carry to take the stairs. The rooms are comfy but not that big unless you get a suite which our family members did. We had connecting rooms so were able to use the living room/kitchen and fireplace. It's only a king sized bed (separate room) with a pull out couch in living room. We had the double queen next door. The breakfast options are either a small cafe near check in (which is always busy and took a long time to order) or a sit down buffet/a la cart spot on the other side which is expensive. The biosphere was awesome. Kids loved it and I especially liked they have a bar in the complex to have a drink and make it seem like you're on a tropical island. They have lots of activities outdoors during nice days - my daughter especially loved the pony ride (she wouldn't get off). Check their schedule as you can find something to enjoy. The golf course seems nice but I am not a golfer. I wish there were better deals for the hotel - like I mentioned it's very expensive - because if there were, we would go more often. read more

My family and I recently booked 3 rooms for an on-site wedding. Aside from the happy event, the stay at your resort was horrible. Bad check-in experience, unhelpful management, lack of noise control, unclean/unworkable room features, and a MAJOR safety issue with a fire emergency. With this said, your resort did NOT provide the commensurate room, services and safety that guests expect and my hard-earned dollars spent warranted. I also intend to follow-up with the community and local authorities, especially relative to the unsafe conditions at the resort and nearby homes. read more

The spa services were top notch, there is some epic wine to choose from and dinner at Lator deserves it's 4 diamond rating but as for everything else, I was disappointed. The suite felt a little outdated and the furniture seemed misplaced in the bedroom. For upward of 500$/ night all of the jets in the tub should have worked. The safe was broken too. Additional amenities like bottled water, aspirin and Q-tips would have gone a long way. Instead we got sent to the vending machine which was out of some of those items. Eventually they did give us water but we had to go to the desk and ask for it. There is also a 10% fee per person, per day, added on to the spa treatments for the foot soak and champagne services (even if you don't use them- which we didn't). If you have a treatment where they put oil in your hair or you have to shower after a scrub, make sure you bring a good comb because the ones they have there are extremely tiny and cheap. The entertainment seems like an after thought as does the room the cabaret is held in. The seating was uncomfortable and the performers were not as good as last year. FYI they "remind" you to tip your wait staff through the whole show but what they don't tell you is a 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Tickets are 75$/ person and the waitress barely came to our table. Yet, she made 30$ from us at an open bar. What's worse is we made our reservation a month in advance and told them it was for a birthday and they stuck us in a back corner far away from the stage. We could barely hear the comic. As for food, the Spring Bistro and the Crystal Tavern over cooked two of my three meals. Room service also told us 40 minutes for breakfast one morning and didn't show up for over an hour. By then the food was cold and we were almost late for our spa services. EVERYTHING at this place is À la cart and everyone expects a tip. As such, they really need raise their customer service standards and update the rooms. The only person there (besides spa workers and Lator staff) who I really feel deserves praise, is Susan the concierge. She is amazingly helpful and gracious. I have been there three times now but I won't likely stay there again. I feel the customer services have declined as the prices have gone up. I recommend the spa services but for the amount of money we spent we could have gone to Turks and Caicos, done all the same things and come home with a tan. read more

So let me first start off with I had my bachelorette party here back in March, and it was EXACTLYYYY what I wanted. Girls spa weekend with wine tasting, and we had good laughs the whole way. The resort was beyond beautiful, even with a bit of snow on the ground (but because of the lodge hotel i didn't entirely hate the snow for once). From pics on the website, it looks so beautiful in the Fall too. My only complaint overall was the service, which I'll get into. I helped my sister (my maid of honor) with narrowing down our options for where to go, and it took us forever to finally rule out the other option and decide on this solely because of price. It was killing us and we couldn't imagine my group of friends being on board. We finally decided to give girls the option to participate or not in the spa, which changed the price dramatically, luckily. Spa package meant an extra 130$ per girl, so about half my girls were okay with that. Check-in took FOREVER. I had my car running waiting for valet for probably 20 minutes.. shut off my car and waited some more. I thought we were waiting for a bellboy to help bring our luggage to our room but no such luck because we ended up doing it ourselves. Fine. But then waiting for a shuttle took forever too. Needless to say we were 20 mins late to our wine tasting, but they were understanding. On to the good stuff. Cava winery is a shuttle ride away- they say it's "across the street" but it's actually insane how large the premises are so it is not walking distance whatsoever. We had a wonderful 9 flights of wine along with lunch- I will review that on their page. We got back to the suite, and it was wayyyyy larger than I was expecting considering they said only 6 could fit in there! (We got two additional smaller rooms for the rest of the girls). Full size kitchen, dining room table, living room with fireplace, balcony (WITH FIREPLACE TOO!?), 2 bedrooms, and one of those huge ass bathrooms that's bigger than my childhood bedroom. It was the perfect "party room" where we didn't have to worry about noise because our suite had its own side of the hallway, and so much space for 12 girls to comfortably hang out, play games, play music, etc. We ventured down to the pool, which is absolutely beautiful and was a selling point for coming here. Indoors but you feel like you're somewhere tropical with the greenery. And the hot tub in a little cave, along with a water slide- positive we were more excited than the kids even. All weekend long we kept calling the front desk asking about the bachelorette sash that was supposed to be included in the package - I got the tiara but I would have preferred wearing the sash. The front desk kept saying "we will call you back"....and then never following through. This is what I mean about their service.. seriously?? But they did have the sign for "Nicole's bachelorette" on the doors, strawberries / champagne, and welcome hotel bags which was a nice touch. The food at the restaurants on premises were really good. We went to a steakhouse Saturday night in this hotel then took the shuttle Sunday to Kites at minerals hotel for brunch. I got risotto for dinner and short rib grilled cheese for brunch...yum! Because of the snow smores by the bonfire was canceled..I was super looking forward to this (yes I'm basically 5). But I'd definitely encourage checking out the events calendar because they have some fun stuff going on! I also didn't realize until our drive home they had snow tubing (and skiing) nearby...would have loved to somehow fit that in but maybe next time! The spa was wonderful .. Probably one of the nicest spas I've been in. Champagne, macaroons, robes/slippers. and great service here. But while we were at the spa, I wanted the girls who opted out to do the yoga class at the fitness center. We asked the night before where the class would be and the staff had no clue..we wake up the next morning for it and the instructor never shows up! This was embarrassing considering I encouraged some of them to wake up for it. Checkout was another disaster.. luckily I didn't deal with the financials since it was my bachelorette but the people at the front desk were unclear with my sister on what she owed for the final bill. It was pages long and even the person checking her out was confused about it. She went home a bit uneasy because of this but luckily it cleared up when she spoke to them again. So the activities and the resort were amazing...just yikes when it came to the service. I'm so glad I still had the best time and everyone else did too. I would definitely recommend it for bachelorette parties, but for a romantic getaway or like I told my parents..I'd look elsewhere. read more

Did the play and stay package. Room was very nice. Very clean and bedding was very comfortable. Had a view of part of the golf course. After check in. We had the wine cellar tour, was very informative, learn a few unique stories, a fun experience. Then our group had the five courses meal in the wine cellar's only dinning table. Very cozy. Instead of wine pairing, we opt to bring our own wine, corkage fee was $50 per bottle. The food was amazing! See picture menu and foods. All arrangement was made a month prior to our stay. This package is on the pricy side, but it is well worth it for this wonderful experience! Had breakfast at the Crystal Tavern. Service was exceptional. Hot coffee and egg Florentine was a great start of the day before the round of golf right on premise. Wild Turkey is one of the six of Crystal Spring Resort. The "basin & ridge" design make it an interesting and challenging round. Pace was good. Overall a great staycation! read more

We just got back from our Holiday weekend getaway at the Grand Cascades yesterday and are feeling the vacation blues. Although our initial booking started with a few hiccups and a bit of stress, once we were there, everything was amazing. We stayed in a one bedroom suite on the 5th floor which was fantastic. We had a full bathroom with a shower, jacuzzi tub, and heated floors. I need heated floors in my house! The kitchen was pretty stocked with all the basic pots, pants, and dishes which we used for breakfast in the room for the kids. The fireplace in the living was nice and actually heated our entire suite. It got so warm that we had to shut off our heat. On Saturday we had our Christmas family photo session. The photographer was a pro and so sweet. She was super fast and we actually received our photos by the time we got home yesterday. She sent us 8 photos and they look amazing, like holiday card quality! During the day we spent it at the Biosphere heated pool. It was surprisingly not as crazy and crowded as we expected. There was the usual annoying folks leaving the towels in the seat to save when they wont even be using it for hours. We actually ended up moving their towels and no one even showed up for our entire time at the pool. The pool has an outdoor heated jacuzzi area, an indoor jacuzzi, and wet sauna (easy to miss), and a dry sauna which were all aaaaammaaazzing. We enjoyed our food at the pool cafe but a lot of the sandwiches were sold out. At night we enjoyed the Christmas Corner. We waited in line starting at 5:30pm for the carriage ride but the wait was taking forever. Eventually we decided to take the 5 minute walk and took the carriage ride back which is what we should have done from the start. The Christmas Corner is so well decorated. The kids got to take a photo with Santa with no line, see a bunch of the farm animals, drink hot chocolate and roast some marshmallows. Sunday we enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the tavern with soooo much food including pancakes, french toast, waffles, omelette station, yogurt station, smoked salmon, dessert bar, eggs benedict just to name a few. I wish my stomach was bigger so I could have ate some more! We all had so much fun at Grand Cascades and are sad to be back. Can't wait for our next visit! read more

After reading all of the glaringly negative reviews, I was a bit leery about booking a "staycation" summer weekend with our 2-year old daughter. I'm so glad we overlooked those reviews and went ahead with our trip. We had the most wonderful time. I don't provide reviews very often, but felt compelled to leave one after having read so many poor reviews that were nothing like our experience. So here goes: From check-in to check-out, we were treated with kindness and professionalism from every staff member at the resort. Every. Single. One. The resort grounds are lovely and lovingly maintained. The views are breathtaking especially at sunset. The pools are also well-maintained and are supervised by lifeguards. Our suite was spacious and spotless. The housekeeping staff did a great job of refreshing our room throughout our stay. There was some wear and tear in the kitchen area and bathrooms that could easily be spruced up with a bit of touch up paint (minor complaint.) Amenities in the room were of good quality. There was also a safe in the room which we appreciated. We enjoyed the biosphere pool area and roasting s'mores with our daughter nightly (the hotel provides complimentary marshmallows and skewers.) We also enjoyed the live entertainment at night on the deck which was actually quite good. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed pony rides and the petting zoo. All of these extras were included in the hotel rate. The hotel also provided a pamphlet at check-in which outlined available activities during our stay. We ate off property one night at Aquaviva (excellent) and one night at the Tavern at the hotel (good.) Service was a bit slow at the Tavern but our waitress was good and the bartender poured our drinks perfectly. The (nearly) included breakfast each morning had something for everyone --including freshly made omelettes. Susan at the concierge desk was exceptionally helpful and really went the extra mile to recommend the perfect farm to take our daughter to for peach picking this late in the season. We would have been disappointed if not for her great advice, as the other places we wanted to go to did not have picking available. Thank you, Susan! I appreciated that the property was sprawling enough so that you did not feel overrun by other guests. Plenty of loungers at the pool, always a spot at one of the fire pits after a short wait. There are a variety of activities for all age groups. This is a great place to visit if you are looking for a fun, relaxed family getaway. It can get a bit pricey, and you might have to wait a little longer for your meal during peak hours, but if you factor in the overall experience, it's totally worth it. For those who recommended visiting Great Wolf Lodge instead, I don't see how you could, there's really no comparison. Yes, you pay a lot more at the Grand Cascades lodge, but you also get a much more elevated family experience. We had so much fun, we're already contemplating our next visit. read more

This place is beautiful. Went here for a wedding and I was definitely not let down. The entrance is beautiful and the ceremony was gorgeous. The food was awesome although the cocktail area was a bit small for the amount of people that attended the food was delicious. When you enter for the reception the ballroom is astounding. The acoustics in the area are great. And the dinner was fantastic. I got the color mignon and it was probably the first wedding I have been to in a while that was cooked correctly. The only thing that I would improve is the dessert. The area that they set it up was a bit crowded and hard to navigate around. Definitely wouldn't mind to go there again and stay over night or attend an event. And also if you guys put some heaters outside for the smokers that would be great. It is in the mountains after all. They have a small gift shop but they do not have tums. I had to pay some guy $5 for a handful of tums from he backpack stash. But stock that place up with some basic necessities!! read more

This is a great place to go if you like to golf and/or spa services. Also, seems to be pretty kid friendly. It is in the middle of a private community of home owners. The surrounding community probably rent their homes for most of the year. I experienced no issue with any home owner on property. The grounds are extremely clean and everything is easy to get to from activities to dining. The room we got was on the higher end, but still very clean and had everything you need for a comfortable stay. The food and drinks are expensive, but not too different from other resorts of this caliber. The staff is just "ok". I did run into a few exceptions here and there. But overall, a lot of the staff were foreign and did not possess the high level of customer service I would expect at the prices they charge. The majority of the interactions I had seemed like I was inconveniencing them or they were annoyed I was even asking a legitimate question. Now, digest that last statement with the understanding that I am a service connoisseur. Not that I am rich or snooty, I just expect the same level of service that I would myself provide if I was in the other persons shoes. This place really is nice and is only 25 minutes from the Hudson Valley (Minisink) area. Update! If you are thinking about booking one of their spa packages..don't! I did and was allotted a certain amount of credits for the spa. There was a remaining balance of credits that are not enough to actually get a service performed. I asked if those credits could be applied to my room as a deduction or even applied at the spa for a retail item. They advised yes it could and the front desk advised that I could just use them at the spa for retail. When I went to the spa they had no idea what I was talking about and called the front desk were they were told that I could not use the credits for anything other than a treatment. Also, there are nice terry cloth robes in the rooms you can use. A note on the robe says they can be bought at the front desk for $60. When I went down to the front desk to inquire, I kid you not, I waited for 58 minutes before someone at the front desk came out from their office to help me! It was 6am and they were probably doing paper work. But if you are going to abandon the front desk for that long you have to put a bell out or something. I could have probably yelled for help, but I was conducting an experiment on how long it would actually take. When I was eventually helped, I was told they only have spa robes which are $120! Another little tid bit of info..if you are a morning person and need coffee and not the crap coffee they have in rooms, then beware that they do not have coffee available until 7am when their coffee bar opens. Also..the coffee is horrible and grossly overpriced. I am debating if I should drop the review to 2 stars since the service level is really sub par. I will follow up after my dinner tonight. After sleeping on it, I decided to keep the review at three stars. There is no reason to stay more than two nights though. If your going for a wedding and staying overnight, you should be excited since the venue is perfect for weddings. Plus you are probably getting a discount on the room. If you golf, then you will probably love the place, since it has everything a golfer needs. It has a nice club house, store, carts, driving range, putting greens..everything a golfer wants. For everyone else, maybe look somewhere priced more moderate, since the prices associated with food and lodging are not commensurate with the experience you will have. read more

Beautiful resort and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, but some things to keep in mind before you go... - You have to drive to the Minerals Resort where many of the activities take place. You get the sense that they are directly next to each other and there's easy access, but this is not exactly the case. It's not far, but definitely an inconvenience going back and forth, especially if you consider having a couple of drinks at either location. For the price of accommodations they should have a shuttle service. - The $40 breakfast voucher only applies to a breakfast buffet that is almost $30 a person, so a family of four must spend $120 to get the benefit of the $40 voucher, which still leaves them with a bill of $80 for breakfast. - Be aware that several appealing activities only take place on certain days of the week. Even though we were there July 4th week, because it was the 1st through the 3rd (Monday - Wednesday) we missed out on several activities we were looking forward to. - When we asked to speak to management we were blown off several times. Told on Monday a manager would call us, but the time we left Wednesday there was absolutely no contact and the desk said managers are typically in meetings. When a rep did call 5 days later, she was obnoxious and defensive, saying that "it's all on the website..." How about in some of these many meetings you discuss customer relations and the importance of establishing a good relationship with your clients? - Like I said earlier, the resort is beautiful and the staff was very nice, but for the price we paid we expected more. read more

As much as I hated this place year and the treatment my family and I experienced it's close and I thought if we cook and stay in the pool and out of the way we should be fine. The first night, our hvac unit broke, so we called down to the front desk. A gentleman came in and attempted to fix it. That night I woke up dripping in sweat because the heater would not turn off. No matter what we did the heat was still pushing. It was late so we sucked it up and opened a window to get some air in the room. There were multiple cracks in the ceiling, the rugs were dirty and the pull out sofa smelled musty. The dishwasher didn't work. It just seems like so many things are consistently wrong for a suite that costs over $700 a night. The staff in the biosphere is my favorite, they are really nice and pleasant. Staff everywhere else in the resort is the equivalent to a 2-3 star resort. I think I've learned my lesson and I won't be returning next year. The manager Nicole I believe her name is, is rude and nasty which is no different from what I experienced last year. I truly hope they do better with their staff at reception. No matter what people will still visit and as long as people stay they're never going to change. Next year I'm going to the Whiteface lodge. It's much more of a drive but I think it's worth not being disrespected by people you give your patronage to. read more

6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FOUND DEAD MOLE IN ROOM. Nice resort and beautiful views, but we will never come back. Front desk service horrendous. Paid roughly $1k per night for suite. Daughter found dead mole our first morning. Staff couldn't care less, had to argue to change rooms because my kids 6 and 8 were scared to sleep in same room the following nights. Took 4 follow ups to make sure we got moved to a new room. Nobody knows what's going on nor do they care about their guests' experience. Only good thing worth calling out are the restaurants. Food and service were good (at Lodge, sister resort was a joke). Go elsewhere... so much opportunity to improve this place... read more

This is a beautiful resort in a beautiful area. We stayed in a 1 bedroom with a private patio close toThe biosphere pool. The room was very nice. It was a rainy Mother's Day weekend so there were not many activities at all, most activities were at their Minerals location, which is a 10 minute drive! And you have to pay extra $ for most activities. Everything about this place is Uber expensive food, drinks, plus the fees, tax and gratuities. We had lunch for 4 at the biosphere pool, we all got tacos, 2 chicken, 2 fish- it was more like fish sticks in a taco, they had no taste, were microwaved overcooked and the taco fell apart completely, an order of fries and 1 white claw was $80 plus tip for an awful meal. The pools were nice, hot tub doesn't have bubbles, so it's really a hot pool. We found everyone to be pleasant so that was a plus! The signage was not good trying to figure out where to go. We went to the Cabaret Show, the talent was entertaining and good, some were great! Drinks and fondue was very good. It was a good experience. Tickets are $79/pp which includes open bar and fondue, But $423 for 4 people in total with the fees and automatic gratuity. We had dinner in our room from the Tavern, it was very good and they were very nice and accommodating allowing us to preorder before our show And pickup after. The real superstar of the place is the Concierge, Susan Chipoletti, she was slammed with people and showed grace under pressure. She was extremely helpful and patient, answering questions about activities, giving suggestions, directions, and helping us plan our evening, coordinating the restaurant and Cabaret show. She's a Superstar! My advice is to book the spa treatments far in advance as they're always booked and we were not able to get a couples massage. If you have small kids or like to be active besides golf, I think Minerals is a better resort for you. Also, it's a shame they don't use the Big Sky tent for activities- especially in rainy days, it's beautiful and is empty. read more

If you've read any of my previous reviews, I don't bring up criticisms, but I was compelled to write one for Grand Cascades at Crystal Springs resort. This was our first time staying at Grand Cascades Lodge. My wife and I were excited to plan a quick overnight getaway to celebrate our anniversary. First, the good- Things started out well- Beautiful and scenic property, gorgeous view of the foliage and mountains from our hotel suite. Very peaceful. The room was clean and spacious. The biosphere pool was great and added a nice resort touch. Staff members were all friendly. Now, for the bad... 1) When we attempted to use the in-room jacuzzi, black sediment began to come out from the jets. Thinking it was a fluke, I drained and rinsed the tub, then tried again- same effect (see pics below). Ok, scratch that idea...$500/night? Hmmm... 2) The coffee maker was not cleaned out and contained old grind (see picture). 3) I take ownership for forgetting my toothbrush, but I would think for $500/night that at least a toothbrush would be available in the room. I've stayed at cheap motels that provided one. 4) The restaurants on campus were booked, so we ordered dinner, in-room. The steak I ordered was not cooked to my request and was uber dry and oversalted. To top it off, usually when you order fries, providing some ketchup and/or other condiments on the side is standard...nothing. I'd say I've had better way better food at a diner for way less than what we paid. 5) Having had a late night out, we ordered breakfast, in-room, and a 1.5 hr wait was to be expected. Ok, I could somehow live with that and maybe explore the property while we waited. I told room service that I was concerned about not making checkout and the woman said, "not a problem- front desk will have no problem extending your checkout." Just to be sure, I called, and thankfully I did because front desk was unable to extend the stay for just an hour more. Again, $500/night. I brought up these issues to management. A meager $50 credit was issued. "That's the best we can do." So, for the amount we paid...this resort was really not worth the stay. Our suite is beautiful. We couldnt seem to get anyone to answer our phone for help. We had tried the concierge and our personal assistant and we were getting no customer service. A few hours later Manager Jimmie just contacted us and set everything on a good course in a very professional way. He sent champagne to our room since it is our wedding anniversary. We decided to stay an extra day and he is really working hard to accommodate us. He is going to try to keep us in same suite or will move us to another comparable suite. The sun sets right outside our balcony. The pools and grounds are beautiful. Landscaping is very nice. I would recommend this hotel. Meghan was our server at the pool bar and she was extremely friendly and we never wanted for anything. Great job Jimmie and Meghan ! read more

Mike ,im sorry if I'm not making myself clear after my two previous emails . I was not parked at the clubhouse . I was parked at the one handicap spot in the front next to the main entrance. Where checkin is . I didn't mention in my previous reviews or email that upon my arrival bell hop didn't have any luggage carts available so I was advised to stay in the one handicap spot by CHECKIN . In my initial review, I highlighted the difficulties I faced as a handicapped individual due to the construction taking place near the main check-in area. I specifically mentioned the inconvenience of having to walk all the way around the construction site that I was unaware of . It is disheartening to see that my concerns regarding the lack of care for handicapped individuals were not acknowledged truthfully. I stated I was not parked at the Clubhouse. My car was directly next to the construction where the plastic tarp was placed . Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that my intention in reaching out to you was to provide factual information and express my disappointment, rather than to engage in any form of dishonesty or fabrication. It is disheartening to see that my concerns were twisted and misrepresented in your response, making it seem as if I were lying about the several disappointing incidents that occurred during my stay. As the manager of Grand Cascades Lodge, I had hoped for a more professional and empathetic response from you. It is essential for a manager to take responsibility for the experiences of their guests and address their concerns in a sincere and genuine manner. Unfortunately, your response seemed more focused on saving your reputation rather than acknowledging the clear facts I provided. I kindly request that you reconsider your response and address the issues I raised in a more appropriate manner. We've been here several times before, and gotta say- I do understand the negative reviews. We had a terrible time once, when the staff wouldn't -- or couldn't --figure out how to honor our Visa gift card- which was a gift from my parents and should've paid for our entire trip . We were forced to pay for this " gift" out of pocket, all due to staff that was inexperienced and unfamiliar with Visa gift cards. We vowed not to return. That was, until we received yet another gift card recently for our anniversary. This time, the gift card came from Crystal Springs directly- not Visa. We sighed and went back -- reluctantly- with low expectations. And guess what? We had a good time. The food was great, the massages were unforgettable and my wife's facial was relaxing and therapeutic.. The facilities were fine- the grounds and gardens were breathtaking, the pool seemed clean and inviting, the sauna was refreshing. Yes, there were some noisy kids- but that's to be expected in a resort. Downsides- staff had to shut down the indoor pool due to threat of thunder storms at 4pm. Not just for an hour or two-until the threat passed-- but for the remainder of the day. They were being cautious- I understand--thunderstorms not their fault--but still disappointed . Also- had a special surprise anniversary cake for my wife, but the stupid restaurant manager blew the surprise my telling my wife it was all ready and waiting. Thanks a lot. But overall, I recommend this place. Food and scenery great if you can overlook some minor management missteps. Where do I begin? Wish I could give half a star. It was a nightmare from the moment we checked into the hotel to check out. Front desk was unfriendly and rude. They were so miserable with their job that it oozed out of their pores. They didn't greet or smile once during check in. Went into the golf shop and even the guys behind the cashier were miserable. Again didn't smile once or said hi/bye. Something should be said about the overall mood/culture of this resort. It either signals poor people management or horrendous hiring of staff. Or both! Room Keys never worked and so couldn't get into the room after 1 hour of trying different key cards. Maintenance was suppose to fix it but never showed up after waiting an hour in the room. Continued to have key issues through out our stay and so had to get new cards every time we left the room. Bathroom didn't work and so they told us to use the lobby bathroom as maintenance doesn't work at night. Really??? The rooms were outdated and smelly. Up keep since we last came to the resort wasn't very good. The grounds are nice and indoor pool was good however, not enough lounge chairs and so had to use 2 chairs between 8 people. No pool side service and the pool cafe only sold already prepared salads and cold sandwiches. No hot food were available. Not even fast food like burgers, hotdogs or pizza. For the money it is NOT worth it!! Stay away folks. Tons of people complaining at check in about rooms not being ready or rooms being dirty. read more

Incredibly overpriced. Many additional "fees". Little to no value when comparing with competition. Property and amenities are very outdated with little upkeep. While the spa services were ok, another wildly overpriced experience with more hidden 'service charges'. Included breakfast is served in a partially set up ball room, similar to what the 'crew' working an event would receive. The $30 credit covers almost all of the fee ($37 for two). Golf course and a la carte restaurant (crystal tavern) were great. Overall a mediocre experience for pricing in the top tier of destination resort/spas. Will not return or recommend. If you're looking for a destination spa, try the lodge at woodloch. Similar pricing, much different/better/elevated experience. They also have a family friendly resort (woodloch pines) that is likely cheaper than crystal springs, and again a much better experience. read more

I would like to write to give a special shout out to Susan the concierge representative at Grand Cascade. We have been going there for our girls weekends for over 17 years in December. This weekend I went for a wedding It was my first time going during the summer. There were three weddings this weekend. Susan made sure that her "girls" were taken care of. Our check in went smoothly, our rooms were ready when we arrived. Susan checked in to see if we needed anything prior to and after the wedding. Over the years Susan has always been consistent. They were investigating with staffs and we were told this is not the first time happened ! But we are the first one called police! I thought the pool is only for resort guests and members! A large group of friends stayed for one night in a 2 bedroom suite with a regular queen room attached. We ate dinner at the restaurant at Minerals called Kites. Three of us had massages the next day. The rooms were nice. The deck with fireplace was great, but the rooms are not luxurious by any means. Pillows were hard, bedding was okay. Lighting fixtures were unattractive and blinding, rugs looked and felt a little dingy. The Kites restaurant is horrible. To make a reservation you have to agree to leave your credit card and pay $25 per person if you are a no show. We walked in and the place was practically empty. It was hot, and smelled like chlorine. We asked if they could turn up the air conditioner, and were told no, but that they would move our table to a cooler area. Penne with chicken was dry, chopped salad was okay ($15), burgers okay, rolls were like hockey pucks. Drinks are extremely overpriced - $10 for a High Noon. I wish I could remember more prices, but I remember their wine list was ridiculous. Lobby had frayed, old looking rugs, empty chip bags stacked up on trash receptacles near elevators. I had a standard Swedish massage for 45 minutes $160. The person doing the massage was great. The experience in the spa, again, not luxurious at all. The girl who checked us in asked us if we had been there before and when we said yes, she said well then you probably know where you need to go. Wasn't going to walk us into locker area or show us robes, etc... The steam showers smelled like mold. A few cheap razors and some tampons on the counter. Overall, this "resort" is not worth what they are charging you. It's time they put some money back into the place, hired some fresh management, and rethought some of their pricing. Zero freaking stars!! This place is a s**t whole. And let's talk about price... LORD JESUS!! Waaay over priced. Checked in and got the wrong room. Had to wait 30 min for the right one. Had ordered strawberries and champagne for my wife and I. Since the room situation was jacked up, we got melted strawberries and nasty champagne. Which by the way, I called the day before to make sure everything was set up right! You see. My wife and I haven't had a honeymoon. Me being a working military man, these were the only two days we had off all year and without our daughter. Lets just say, what a waste of time!! Strike 1. Wrong room Strike 2. There was hair all in the bed.. not ours, see the hair was long and black. Im bald and my wife is short blonde... umm so not ours. We had to spray the bed down with sanitizer spray. We asked for new sheets they didn't come. Strike 3. The microwave was broken. We were so frustrated we went to Kites for a drink! We got back the microwave was changed and the new sheets were in a damn plastic bag outside the room door wtf! You already came in the room (covid-19) so why leave the sheets outside the door?? This place is dirty. We didn't see anyone and i mean anyone cleaning or sanitizing! There literally was one hand sanitizer dispenser that worked. I almost passed out from getting chlorine high just walking to my room every night from that damn pool. Btw the chipped towels come on man! No one wants to steal those old ass towels. The check in at 4 out by 11 is a freaking joke! And i didnt read the reviews until today and I must say we all have a lot in common. Yet the idiot of a manager or rep Mrs Nicole Sisco's response to the majority of the reviews is so passive aggressive. Being a leader is taking OWNERSHIP IN YOUR FAILURE. Thats what being a leader is about. Being a UNITED STATES MARINE is something I hold deeply inside of me and to the heart! Im a leader of men and women who fight for this country! Beautiful resort and lovely atmosphere, but... don't think activities should cost an additional fee when you're already paying thousands of dollars to stay at the hotel. Tried to do the marshmallow roasting and waited in the heat for 20 minutes after the front desk directed us outside. No one was there offering the sticks and marshmallows, which was an included activity. Even more disappointed to see a family with them as we were leaving and no employee around whatsoever!
