This is a mostly Vietnamese-owned mall that has 20+ jewelry stores, various businesses, gift shops, restaurants and a small-sized food court. My favorite is the large home goods store that sells all kinds of Chinese porcelain vases, teapots, potteries, furniture and everything else. If you are a pottery enthusiast, you'd love this store. I was totally in awe of the intriguing craftsmanship. Price wasn't crazy and owner was friendly. I also went to 3-4 jewelry stores to check out diamond earrings. It seemed quality was good. I was passing by and decided to drop by randomly? I went inside and took a subtle walk, it seems almost or all of the stores are Asian Owner? Specifically Vietnamese, there were a lot of outlets I have never seen before and not in English? The merchandise or goods to buy from this place seem to be old fashioned or suitable for people of older age? It used to be that I would be at the taqueria across Story Road about once every two weeks and then, I'd head straight to the mall. Occasionally, I wanted VietNamese food or coffee and just head to the mall. The last two times, there were not as many jewelry stores but the herb store is there and there is a video game arcade. There are more restaurants, and the food court is still going. These times, I headed to the porcelain shop in the rear east corner. They have good merchandise and fair prices and tend to be friendly. The whole mall seems to have friendly workers and it's easy to forget how long I'd been looking for nothing in particular. It just makes Story Road all the better. read more

I've been coming to Grand Century Mall for about eight years, and I always enjoy coming back. The mall has a lively atmosphere, with a great selection of restaurants, delicious food, and refreshing boba teas. The staff and service are always friendly, which makes the experience even better. I especially love visiting around the Asian Lunar New Year. I came this evening to celebrate the end of Tết, and it was fantastic. Grand Century Mall in San Jose reminds me of the Asian Garden Mall in Westminster. Viet food court and restaurants, jewelry stores, dried food vendors, and various shops selling uniquely Vietnamese items. What was most impressive here is the massive home goods store selling everything and anything you can think of that you need for your kitchen and home. It's a great place to walk around. It's hard to decide where to eat, get a drink or dessert though as there is such a large selection here and in the surrounding shops. Please come and create your own adventure. read more

Grand Century Shopping Mall is a cultural hub of Vietnamese restaurants, boba cafes, food court and businesses all under one roof though over the past five years it has gone downhill not the same as before the worst part newly established restaurants and cafes are popping up right across the street which has made an impact with shoppers just by the amount of increase traffic tells you why. Here parking is a real challenge worst on the weekends would avoid coming out here in the evenings there's been a rash of car break-ins and security is very light on their feet not to mention excessive towing fees so much so enough to discourage coming out here again. read more

Checking out The Grand Century Shopping Mall, Major Vietnam town. I like to stop here especially to shop for my Vietnamese goods that I can't find back on Oahu & get my Vietnamese foods & desserts in. I smiled at the message regarding the buffalo, the sign states "do not sit on the buffalo, we are not responsible for your injuries resulted from your action", & the 5 massage chairs states absolutely no sleeping, the alarm will sound if money is not inserted, lol! I sat on the massage chairs just to see if the alarm will sound, if money not inserted, which didn't. All in all, this place is huge, pretty great, enjoyed my experience here. So many choices for Vietnamese cuisine, products, and services!! There's plenty parking, don't forget "remove it or lose it", don't leave valuables in car! read more

One of the best Asian mall I have visited. Very organized and easy to access from any entrance. It felt like you were in an actual mall. There is a food court, lots of retail shops all around. There is ample parking all around the parking lot, but beware on weekends it's usually crowded especially during the holidays. Grand Century Mall is a jewel in San Jose which needs to be repolished: 1) Improve the cleanliness of the bathrooms and floors 2) Immediately inject pop-up businesses near the vacant units near the entrance because the first impression when you walk in is "empty" when in fact there are stores still open inside. 3) Invite in other Asian business owners. There can be pop-ups with more Korean, Indian, Middle-Eastern and Southeast Asian new and modern stores. The City of San Jose needs to engage with this property owner. Grand Century Mall leadership's hands off approach is costing them money and the community _wants_ to shop but there is nothing new and exciting in the mall. We came here to see the Chinese New Year parade and I have to say it's the best New Year parade we have seen and we go to them every weekend in the month of February alone! If you want a vivacious and vibrant New Year with an incredible lion dance, this is the place to go! Grand Century Shopping Mall, the Northern rival to the Asian Garden Mall in California. Both share similarities for being major Vietnamese-based malls in California, but both have their differences as well. Grand Century seems to be more modern and a little more sleek, but feels more emptier than the Asian Garden Mall. Perhaps it was a slow week, but I came in twice on two different days and there was barely anybody inside. The banh xeo stall and nuoc mia/sugarcane stall were both closed during both days I visited which was super upsetting since those two places were the ones I wanted to try the most. Maybe I should try visiting on a busy weekend, but man was this place underwhelming. The San Jose Vietnam Town plaza was a lot more nice to walk around and had better vendors in the area. I would probably have rated this place a star higher if both those places I wanted to visit were open. read more

Horrible parking always especially during Tet Festival.. while parking on the side since no stall found out that the parking structure closed even during Tet festivals because a year ago someone dumb enough to pop fire cracker in the lot and cause fire in the lot.. now everyone is to suffer until they someday fix the fire sprinklers. We were recently here for the CNY celebrations and man, this place was humming! My mother would have said, people mountain people sea, which in Cantonese means loads of people. I knew this place would be packed, especially on the 1st day of CNY & that was why i wanted to come. I told the girlfriend don't bother going to Chinatown because the Vietnamese knows how to put on a show and they did not disappoint. This shopping plaza reminds me of the mall in the OC's Little Saigon, except it is larger, cleaner and newer. So many restaurants, boba shops, sandwich shops, bakeries and everything in between can be found here. We stayed most of the day because there was also a mini carnival set up plus the lion dance and the street gambling. So much stimulation for the senses. read more

** PATRONS BEWARE ** YOUR CARS WILL BE TOWED!!! We visited this area frequently in the past and tonight we have witnessed something disgusting that worth reporting: SO MANY CARS got towed tonight. Granted: these cars parked in the "barely visible" Loading zone (you literally cannot see these marks especially at night due to poor markings and lightning - See attached photo). There is not much parking for patrons so it is obvious these slots are easy targets. Based on one shop owner that we talked to, who is against this towing practice: The security guard who drives around will guide and direct "Morris-and-Son" fleet of towing vehicles, and each vehicle got towed (which is a minimum $450 to retrieve) and the mall owner will get a $50 cut from Morris-and-Son company. We would never come here ever again until this practice is stopped + more parking spots for patrons + Marking are clear and visible. (Separate note: so many vehicles with broken windows in this mall for years, and that should be the main focus of the Mall owner(s), not this BS towing for profits! Here at the mall and it's nothing special. Went into a fruit shop and the lady(maybe the owner)all staring like we're about to rob the place. The store across from the fruit shop sells this raw meat snack(forgot the name)which should be in the refrigerator but it's not. It's on the table in the open. It's home to approximately 100 businesses here! Mostly Vietnamese Products, an impressive food court reflecting the Diverse International San Jose Population is also a popular attraction. I haven't been here since I was a kid. I remember it being packed with people and it seemed so big. It was pretty empty yesterday except for the food area. People were crowded into the stores that sold food. One of the lady employees tried to push my daughter out of the store and tell her to wait outside while I shopped. I told her no, she was a child and the lady pinched my daughter on her back. I grabbed my daughter away from her and told her she is not leaving plus she's a child and to not touch her. The lady then walked away and was shooing people to move out of the way. They were working fast pace and was trying to sell and pressure people to buy and leave in a hurry. Of course we don't have foods like this here where we live so we did end up buying a lot of foods to take home. They gave us plenty of trouble by not leaving room in grocery bags. The foods were so jammed packed that it was hard to carry the bags because they were too heavy and the bags were going to rip. Before I paid I asked for 2 extra bags and the lady said no. I told her I didn't want to buy the stuff then since I can't carry everything stuffed in 6 bags. She ended up giving me the two extra bag but I had to shuffle the foods around into the other bags. It was really irritating how rude these people are. Other stores employees at other shops just kept to themselves unless we asked about the price on the item. Employees would give me a price for items and my mom a different price for the item. If you stand there long enough browsing, they will lower the price. The benches and tables and chairs inside are not available to use. They are all blocked off. Foods are to go only. We got sugarcane drinks and it tasted pretty gross. It was more of a syrup like drink. We make sugarcane drinks at home and they are plenty sweet without adding anything and their sugarcane was not sweet. They added possibly flavored syrup or canned fruit syrup. The foods we ended buying weren't good and way overpriced too. I probably would come back here if my mom wanted to, otherwise I would find other Asian markets to purchase from. My mom said that the foods was very disappointing and everything was not good except for the fried shredded pork in the plastic containers. read more

Growing up in the SJ area. My family comes to this Plaza and the new Vietnam Town a lot. I have been to the Grand Century since I was a little girl and I think I will be going less from now on. Decided to drop by a Sunday late afternoon to pick up a sugarcane drink before heading home. The moment I walk through the doors, the security stops me because of my dog (joined the family a few years ago) and tells me that I can't come in with my dog unless she is a service animal. I know most establishments don't allow dogs because of health code reasons but most are ok with a quick order pick up. I told the security guard that I just needed 5 mins to order a sugarcane drink and leave but he wasn't very accommodating and stated that I will have to leave my dog outside. I decided to just leave because there was no way I will leave my dog outside alone. They just lost a long term customer for their business tenants inside the shopping mall. Overall, I would say this was very frustrating and disappointing. I will just take my business next door in the Vietnam Town Plaza where the businesses are more accommodating. read more

(3.5/5) Grand Century Shopping Mall is reminiscent of the Asian Garden Mall in Southern California but feels more modern. The marbled tiled floors at Grand Century gives the building a more refined look in compassion to the Asian Garden Mall, which is in need of some remodeling. We came here hoping to find some good quick eats and to browse around the shops but nothing much stood out to us. Just like the Asian Garden Mall, there were a number of shops that carried clothing and goods from Vietnam. There were also jewelry stores too. The food court here was lackluster in comparison to the one at the Asian Garden Mall. None of the food stalls stood out to us and seating was scarce. Overall, we were happy to visit the Grand Century Mall. It's much newer and more modern than what we're used to back at home. Just a few things we want to mention, the mall does not allow pets and it gets ridiculously stuffy in here. Parking however is amazing. There's so many parking spots here!! read more

There are three hallways of stores in this mall, and it's filled with jewelry, food court, prepared foods, fruit, dried jerky, apparel, and home decoration stores. It was our first time there and we bought Hawaiian lychees and cut up fresh jackfruit from the fruit store, and a sugarcane drink from the food court (they don't have plain sugarcane listed on the menu but we asked if we could have it and they said yes). Medium sugarcane drink is $6 and definitely worth it! The jackfruit and lychees were $6/lb, so ended up being $15 each. So yummy! read more

I can see the nostalgia factor of this place, especially since I can relate with the Asia Garden Mall in SoCal. It's definitely less "aged" than Phuoc Loc Tho and has more parking since there's access to another plaza and a parking structure nearby. It's more or less the same as it's SoCal counterpart, just with less vendors and just one floor. A nice food court, a myriad of jewelers, some antique stores, travel agencies, herbal remedies, etc. It's fine to take a look at, but honestly can't imagine spending more than half an hour here unless you're eating something. read more

I hate coming here on Holidays. It gets extremely over crowded and I just can't stand being around so many people who have zero respect for other people. You have to be aggressive and play their game if you want to survive in this crowd. (laughing). Don't bother holding doors for anyone, nobody will thank you, probably will even look at you and be offended that you're holding the door open for them. Speaking from a few personal experience. I don't even bother holding doors for anyone now but the Elderly when I come here. I love their food court and I especially love the Nuoc Mia drink station. Order the "Sugar cane drink with Orange slices" you'll love it! Pair it with some Banh Xeo(yellow pancake) and you have a complete delicious meal! All the other stores in here are not of my taste. So I don't go into any of them. But they did recently added a Paris Baguette Bakery! I'll probably check that out next time I come here, not for awhile. There's always a car parked outside, so they really give it away?? Hmhmhp I don't believe it. They're just trying to get people to buy jewelry, like my Mother!! Stop it Mother! Aiya! It sounds like I hate this place, most days, Yes I do. But it's alright sometimes..when I'm desperate for food, then this place becomes alright. IMHO This is a huge Vietnamese shopping mall in the Little Saigon business district on Story Road. It's packed full of merchandise gift stores, jewelry stores, fruit and veggie stores, asian snack stores, a few clothing stores, and a few scattered tax businesses, beauty salons, watch repair stores, health food stores, cosmetic stores, religious statuary, orchid stores, and probably a few others that didn't pique my interest. Oh yeah, there's a Paris Baguette here!!! If only they served kouign amann... The food court is located on the left side of the mall as you enter. There is a fairly good selection of food to choose from. You just order at the counter and then sit at the long row of tables. Everytime we've come here, it isn't horribly crowded (I don't do crowds!). Granted it was shortly before lunchtime, but even then the place is big enough to handle a lot of people milling around. However I don't plan on visiting anytime near Chinese New Years, when it will be a madhouse and very loud due to the constant din of firecrackers going off. It looks clean and somewhat shiny (due to the granite tile floors). Never had to seek out the restrooms, so I have no idea of their condition. If you've never been here, check it out and decide for yourself. You might find something you like...or at least eat some good food at any of the restaurants in and around the mall. read more

Grand Century Shopping Mall is a Mall i've visited many times years ago. there are many jewelry, cellphone stores, herb dispensaries, some traditional vietnamese eateries, boba tea shops , and other retail stores. it's both boring and an adventure to visit so many shops in one location. the main attraction (to me) is the food court where there are literally a dozen food vendors with niche specialites to choose from. it wouldn't be wise for them to be open during the pandemic. hopefully, they and the tenants within can survive the shutdown and reopen soon when it's wise to do so. read more

I rarely, if not ever, Write a review for a person just the establishment, but I just had to for this man. Review is for security guard named Eugene, SUPER rude, my mom fell (she's disabled) in the handicap spot and he walked by and said you should take better care of the old lady. I said excuse me that's very rude, and he said I shouldn't blame him for her falling? I never said that? Another security guard was standing across the street and saw the entire thing. he didn't even offer to help just walked past super smug. He also refused to let her in with her service animal insisting she needs an ID. I let him know I can sow him all her vaccination and certificate but there isn't any actually "service dog id". That those he was shown from other patrons can be easily purchased only for $34.95 or some like prices. He did not ask but I offer to tell him what service dog can perform to aid the handler which is the only thing he can legally ask but yet he refused and kicked us out. I tried to pull up the ADA law but he said millions of customers come here and have iD. I also offered to show what the dog does and the letter from the doctor, but he was adamant about forcing us to leave. Then he got on his walkie talkie and said yeah I'm kicking this lady out cause she tried to bring in her dog without an id. This was when I asked for his name and employment but he refused to tell me. If he knew he wasn't wrong, then why wouldn't he give me that information? I wasn't asking for his last name or anything private. Finally after refusing to tell me his name, when I asked he mumbled and i asked if he could repeat, he said he already told me and I even called him by it, no I didn't. Multiple time in the conversation with him he gaslights and puts words in my mouth. Manager/supervisor should really have a talk with this man. Please look at your parking lot security camera if you don't believe me. Then he went on the day he's the supervisor of grand century mall, ay yi yi. This makes me so mad because I was able to stand up for myself, barely, and I know there are elderly and people who visit this mall whos English is not the best and wouldn't be able to defend against a bully. Please hire better guards be educate them in ADA laws as this is an easy lawsuit. read more

Beside Tully Vietnamese Plaza. This is a 2nd Vietnam Town and now they expanded Vietnam Town all the way to Walmart. They has a lot of good Vietnamese restaurants and desserts. It's also a fun place to come for Lunar New Year ! I come here to burn firecrackers on Lunar New Year. It was super fun! Every time I'm in San Jose I always come here to eat and visit this place. Don't forget to try Nuoc Mia Ninh Kieu - Sugarcane drink and buy beef turkey at snack store by North/West corner. Came here during 2018 Vietnamese New Year's weekend with my gf to check out how our people ring in the new year. First thing I noticed was the crazy traffic getting into Grand Century Mall. My advice is to park across the street in the lot with the Lion Supermarket. Next thing you'll notice are the carnival rides, food stands, and smoke coming from an area sectioned off for firecrackers that are constantly being lit. It's super loud but it's such a cool display. There are tons of gambling tables with people using rocks to place bets on a traditional Vietnamese New Year's game, Bau Cua Tôm Cá. Premise of the game is to bet on any of the six animals on the game board. The dice has six sides with a different animal on each side. Whichever side the die lands on determines if you win or not. I didn't bet (since I'm a poor sport if I lose) but it was cool to see how many people were into it. I went inside the mall and had Nuoc Mia (a tasty sugar cane drink) and watched the lion dancers bless the shops inside for good luck and prosperity. I'd recommend checking this mall out at least once so you get the authentic feel for Vietnamese New Year's! read more

Food court galore is happening inside this mall. Located towards the back of the mall, you will find plenty of Vietnamese style cooking to choose from. They even have a Thai place towards the North side of the food court. They cook them fresh for you. It is not buffet. They are quick too. I come here for their shakes and Banh Xiao usually. They are excellent. Besides the food court, this mall has several traditional Vietnamese sit down restaurants. There are a couple of karaoke places to sing your heart out while you eat dinner during weekends. They also have a really cheap place you can buy flower plants and orchids. The nice lady who works there will wrap it up for you and make it look all nice and spiffy. The mall also has a couple of really good tea places with high end teas like the dragon well from China. They also have several cell phone companies, lots of jeweleries stores, a couple of bakeries and general gift item stores. They also have a travel agency here and we used their service to booked our tickets when we toured Vietnam. They were so nice!! Note however: their security here is good. They are usually visible walking around inside the mall and patrolling the parking lots with their marked security vehicle. There have also been lots of car burglaries reported in this area specifically in their parking lot. I should know, my car was broken into once in broad day light -- right smack when you pull in the center entrance. The security guys made a printout copy for me of the guy who stole my stereo to send a copy to my insurance. I highlight that their cameras are not powerful to zoom in. So if you come here at night, I recommend parking in well lit area. It will save you the headache to have to call your insurance company! read more

ayayayayayayyyyy I wish I could say I don't know where to start but I know exactly where to start and its with the restrooms... which are repulsive. And I don't think I've ever used that word in a review before but it truly made me think twice about even getting a beverage from their food court with those conditions. It was the kind of thing where it's not that it smelled like pee even from the hallway leading up to the restroom because, 'pee' is too soft a term for how foul it was. This was straight (and here's another word I've never used in a review before) piss. It smelled like a Tenderloin San Francisco street after it hasn't rained for two months. The floors were wet, the toilets that weren't out of order had mini floods on the floor, the locks on all the doors were either broken or busted out and the gaps in the doors were wayyy too wide so you pretty much had a clear view into every stall. There's about 15 signs that ask you not to flush the toilets with your foot but honestly, I cannot imagine touching that handle with my actual flesh in a restroom that was that filthy. As far as shops and vendors, I felt bad for them because many of the stores were closed during what seemed like prime mall hours. For the stores that were there and open, soooo many were selling the exact same stuff. There were two snack type markets literally next to each other selling the same bins of the same stuff and it just seemed so odd, and at a few places unsanitary. The exterior of the building was also littered with trash. Cigarette butts, old food wrappers, wrapped up diapers. It's not the mall's fault that people can be disgusting but they should have someone there to make sure the place is at least mildly presentable. For a place with 'Grand' in the title, it was the furthest thing from that. read more

The dried fruit and jerky place in here was the first place that introduced me to dried strawberries. I fell in love with them and then ended up falling in love with ALL of the dried fruits and ginger combinations. My family also buys Maggi seasoning sauce here and Gavotte cookies. There is a store in the back that sells rice cookers, house supplies, knives, bowls, etc. that I sometimes frequent when I am in need of Asian kitchenware. There are ao dai shops, music shops, and lots of jewelry spots. The com tam place here is my family's go-to broken rice plate spot. Outside this location, by the fountain, is also the site of a very festive tet, or Vietnamese Lunar New Year, festival. They have food, lion dancers, Chinese fire crackers and rides for kids every year around tet time. The food court in this mall is also very good. They have a Thai food place, Hue food, nuoc mia, boba, and much more. It was the site of my first nuoc mia, my first banh khot, and was the first Vietnamese mall in the area. Century Bakery in Grand Century Mall was the first place I ever tried Vietnamese pandan waffles, or banh kep. They are smaller, thinner and less chewy than the banh kep they have next door in Viettown so it isn't my favorite Vietnamese waffle option but that doesn't mean they aren't still extremely delicious and worth buying. I like that they're made fresh to order. They must be enjoyed immediately while still fresh and hot. Sometimes my mom would buy them and then retoast them at home if we didn't finish them fresh. Outside of banh kep, this place makes amazing Vietnamese jello cakes with elaborate flowers and jello art. Jello is a great and refreshing option for birthdays. They keep well in different temperatures, are easy to cut, and is easy to serve. The classic flavors for Vietnamese jello is pandan, or la dua, coffee or coconut. Located in E$$J is Grand Century Mall. Story and King traffic is no joke so good luck on the weekend! Parking can also get tough so being a "sitting duck" will be your solution to find parking. But ohhhh, how things have changed. My mom use and Aunt use to bring me here when I was a child to eat and walk around to buy misc things such as jewelry, plants, and buddha trinkets for the home lol. Anyways, I came here with my sister to see New Saigon extension next door. Grand Century is old and quite frankly the same. There are hardly any open stores anymore and people honestly only go here for the food. We ended up buying another trinket for our mom but that was it. There was nothing else to see or purchase. LOL my parents once told my brother and I that we were going to go on a family vacation, and they brought us here... To be fair to them, you definitely get a different cultural experience here. It's obviously an Asian, primarily Vietnamese mall, so what in here is Asian things, food, drink, jewelry, clothing, etc. I do like coming here for the food and drinks. This is the place to go for the best pandan waffles and sugar cane juice! read more

I've always loved coming to this place growing up and I still continue to do so. My favorite thing about this place is how big the food court is! I can't say this place is always clean, but the food is delicious. There are plenty parking spots and seats at the food court, but it seems to always get packed during peak hours, even after 6 on a Sunday. My favorite food spot is Chao Vit Thanh Da and the sugar cane juice place right next to it :) There are PLENTY of jewelers, but stop by Khai Toan to check out his bling! read more

This mall has seen better days. On a recent weekend visit, the parking lot was actually 2/3 empty (you had a better chance of winning PowerBall than scoring a spot here not too long ago). The reason why? Half the stores are now defunct, not that they were much to begin with. You know things are bad when one of the anchor tenants - the plant shop, which used to be packed to the rafters - is kaput. Without that, all you are left with is a gazillion jewelry shops and a couple of subpar restaurants. Perhaps the "Century" in the name of this place is the 20th, as the heyday of this center can only be referred to in the past tense. It is a sad state of affairs indeed for Vietnamese malls, as the foiled Vietnam Town next door is still nothing but dirt, and the World Mall in Fremont is simply standing inventory, with only a handful of tenants, despite completion of construction for upwards of a year now. I guess Grand Century proves that there isn't quite a market yet for this type of thing. read more
