I did not pay for the trip insurance and did not expect a full refund. However, since I had medical records from the doctor and I notified them before the group departed, I expected I could at least get a flight credit, one way or round trip. Parents and schools BEWARE! This company is a sham and falls short on its promise to deliver a safe and memorable school-based trips. They poorly planned a "Smoky Mountains" trip for our middle schoolers and were unprepared to meet the flight delays/cancellations that resulted when our kids were forced to connect in Dallas. Kids, parents and teachers had no support from Grand Classroom staff and the "emergency" number was operated by a husband/wife team who were unable and unwilling to help find a solution to get our kids to safety. Kids were forced to sleep on the airport floor and there was no backup plan to get them fed or provide safe or adequate accommodations during the travel delays. Do not use this company! HORRIBLE experience with not-Grand Classroom. They flew our 7th-grade children into a storm in Dallas for a layover that never should have been part of the trip. They actually took our group from South Florida west right into a storm that was predicted more than 24 hours in advance all over the internet and news, including cnn, Fox News, etc! As a result, the kids landed and were stranded for OVER 12 HOURS!! The company should have known that there were storm and tornado warnings for a full day before departure. All flights were cancelled and the kids were stranded with zero communication with parents. We were told there were no hotels available, yet we found plenty. Ultimately, the airline provided a hotel. The children never made their enriching trip. Instead, they spent the entire next day at a mall. It was only when the school stepped in that we received notifications. The company was cavalier and tried to blame it on the weather. Fact is, they should not have flown our kids into a dangerous storm that was predicted and they should have booked flights that were nonstop instead of a layover in Dallas for a Tennessee destination. Ultimately, it seemed all about money. They were scrimping and getting the cheapest deals they could find while charging us $1700 for Wednesday - Friday trip to Knoxville, Tenn. BEWARE!!! read more

The absolute worst. After paying $1700 for my 13 year old son to go from south Florida to Knoxville Tennessee, I was informed the travel plans included a layover in Dallas on the way there and a return 4 hour drive from Knoxville to Atlanta and then a flight from Atlanta to south Florida. Guess what! When u book a connecting flight on a 2 day trip for 50 people, and that flight is cancelled- u are not able to rebook it! Therefore my 13 year old son was awake for 23 hours! At that point they finally took him to an airport hotel in Dallas and cancelled the trip to Knoxville. So I paid $1700 for my 13 year old to be awake for 23 hours, and go to the Dallas mall and out to dinner before flying back to the opposite coast of Florida and being bussed back to school. That's 33 hours of traveling for a 2 day trip for a child. Grand classroom could blame it on the weather but the reality it's that it was extremely poor planning and management. When u book 50 children on a connecting flight u need a backup plan. You don't start your backup plan at 10 pm, waiting for airline vouchers while 50 kids are delirious in an airport terminal. Negligent, poor planning, and absolutely nobody from grand classroom ever communicated with the parents the entire time. I have hiked the Grand Canyon, explored the Pacific Northwest, swam in the Galapagos, and seen so many neat places with this company. There is NOTHING grand about Grand Classroom. If I could give this company negative stars, I would. I have never dealt with such an incompetent business in my life. Our school hired them to take our kids on a 3 day field trip. The first red flags were the travel flights they picked. Instead of booking a flight from FLL to KNX on a 2 hr non-stop flight, they put them on a 7 hr flight with a layover in DAL. They were to have 1 day of activities in the Smokey Mountains and then they were to get on a 4 1/2 hr bus ride to Atlanta to fly home! How does that make sense when there is a direct flight and we had to put down $1700, 6 months prior? Well, exactly what we were worried about came true. The flight on their layover in DAL was canceled and they ended up getting stuck there, never to make it to Tennessee. What's worse, this company left our kids stranded at the airport for 16 hours!!!!!!! They did NOTHING to help in getting them to a hotel. Had no contingency plan in place, and left our Principal to figure it out on her own. They didn't feed them, our kids ended up being up for 23 straight hours and there was ZERO communication from them. When I spoke to the owner, who did nothing to help, his wife giggled in the background thinking it was funny that this was happening. A DISGUSTING display of the owner of this business. Word of advice: NEVER allow your child on a trip booked by this horrid company. Very disappointed in Grand Classroom's handling of (an admittedly tough situation) COVID-19 related trip cancellations. For my personal and business travel bookings most vendors have been excellent about full or near-full refunds, and yet Grand Classroom is only able to refund 20% of the amounts paid. It just does not add up -- I wish they were as dedicated to working with their partners/vendors to secure refunds for their customers, as they were to marketing and sales. It probably would have been a good trip, I've heard positive things about their ability to build and deliver a solid itinerary. But the current cancellation stance is not a good way to treat customers. read more

I purchased the additional COVID insurance, but Grand Classroom is saying the coverage is only if you cancel 24+ hours before the trip. My son was tested after leaving for the trip. He essentially only had a travel day and then I had to fly up to get him. The fact that they will not even offer a portion of the trip back is extremely disappointing. I have been a teacher chaperone on multiple Grand Classroom trips and I am always impressed by their professionalism and attention to detail. All staff I have had contact with are helpful and knowledgable. They have showed integrity when dealing with some tough situations and they continue to maintain that integrity during this COVID-19 outbreak as they work with our school and families to give the maximum reimbursement. My daughter's spring 2020 high school trip to Universal was cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak, and Grand Classroom is refusing to provide a full refund. They're stating that this is due to a late cancellation on the school's part, but it seems those terms could and should be forgiven during a pandemic. I know of other students who were scheduled for trips through other travel companies, and they have already received a full 100% refund. I had signed up and paid to be a chaperone on this trip, so this company is now keeping $400 of my family's money, and we have nothing to show for it. I understand that companies are struggling right now, but so are families, and it should not be our responsibility to bail your company out. read more

He double checks every reservation in advance and creates alternate plans when the weather impacts the itinerary. He is very knowledgeable and a true teacher.
