I started yoga classes with Diana 10 years ago, as a beginner to yoga. Her personalized and varied…read moreinstruction has helped me to gain core strength, flexibility, and improved balance while complementing my other health goals. Her personal attention and extensive use of props help me to be settled and thoughtful in my poses, and to safely access parts of my body that I didn't know existed! Every class is different and purposefully constructed. She provides instruction, demonstration, individual modifications and props as needed so that each student can experience and benefit from their own safe and accessible version of a pose. Her classes are engaging and challenging for my 50-something body, as well as my husband and our 23 year old daughter. I highly recommend Diana for both beginning and experienced yogis.

The first thing that really set A Good Stretch apart was the focus on the individual and doing poses safely. I've had many friends hurt themselves trying to do a yoga video at home. Diana asks that you fill out a questionnaire regarding your goals and any injuries or health problems. She then uses that to tailor a program for you. You are allowed to go at your own pace and comfort level with individualized instruction. Every class I am amazed what my body can do and how great I feel. And, it's been really great for my posture! Having this one on one attention is what sets these classes apart. I feel like I am working to better myself and not competing or trying to keep up with everyone else.

Adore adore adore! Lake Anna Wellness Studio is now my absolute favorite yoga studio…read more When my mom told me there was a good yoga studio on the lake, I was initially skeptical. I have done yoga in many locations, and currently live in Hawaii, where yoga has a fantastic presence. However, I wanted to give it a shot, so off I went. Upon entering the studio, I felt instantly calm. I was greeted by two lovely ladies, one who was the owner of the shop, Beth, and the other who turned out to be one of the instructors, June. I was coming to try the "Restorative Yoga" class. I used to practice yoga regularly, but since having my kiddo, yoga has been far in between for me. I was a little worried about how rusty I'd be, but I should not have worried--the instructor caters every movement to your yoga practice level, comfort level, and your needs. Before class we were offered a restorative drink, as well as some chocolate and fruit. It felt so luxurious--I felt pampered, honestly. (That's an added bonus for the evening restorative yoga classes, and makes me want to come every night they have it!) The class began. They'd set out all the items we would need, so it was a simple transition, just picking a spot. The instructor, June, walked us through everything, often explaining the thought process behind what we were doing. She also walked around and helped you get the correct posture or pose, gently. (The instructor even noticed I was having trouble with a certain position, and helped me find a way to strengthen my body after class!) I'm not going to go through every pose we did, or every part of the session, but I will leave you with this: It was good for mind, body, and soul. It was challenging, but fun. It was perfect for beginners, mid level folks, and yoga expert aficionados. Everyone there was at a different place in their practice, and we all enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend Lake Anna Wellness Studio, and can't wait to return! If you're considering it, you need to go! They also offer Pilates, Aerial Yoga, and All Levels Yoga classes! I am going to try them all!

LKA wellness center is so inviting, clean and well appointed with Pilates apparatus, balls, mats, rollers and even ceiling hangers for scarfs. Everyone in class is so friendly and encouraging. And whoo-boy, did I find tiny muscles all over my back and sides that have been feeling left out of my fitness routine. Lol pretty stiff and sore today but hey that just means it was a great workout

I joined NOWyoga shortly after moving to Cville. All of the instructors are amazing (I especially love Rachel and Lydia), and Sabine and Aly (the owners) have set up a relaxing and inviting space. There is a beautiful patio outside of one of the studios that you can practice on, but you can also stay inside if it's too hot or cold for you. Teachers teach from the space between, so you have options. Bolsters, blocks, towels, blankets, straps, cups for water, and mats are available at no extra charge. There are also bins to put your belongings in as well as a changing room. The bathroom is stocked with hair ties, bug spray, spray deodorant, and other items you might need. I was initially hesitant to join because NOWyoga costs slightly more than other studios in Cville, but it's well worth the price. The instructors are very personal and are willing to talk before and after class about specific postures or struggles, and I find that the classes I attend provide a challenge without feeling overwhelming. It can be stressful to start a new workout routine or join a new studio, but the staff have really helped my transition into a new routine and to a new city. I feel like I have joined a community. I am always so excited to go to class, and I always feel so refreshed after. NOWyoga is a great studio for people of all ages and levels, and I can't recommend it enough!
