Get a free 12 oz of coffee here with any coffee beans purchase!…read more Rising Star Roasters is my destination for a strong cup of coffee. It's by far my favorite local coffee shop chain. I frequent this location inside Van Aken Market Hall. This coffee stand is located right as you walk into the main doors of the market hall. You'll need to go to the counter, order your food and/or drinks, and wait for the order to be called (typical coffee shop experience). Wait can be a little long during peak hours but it's worth it! You can then select various seating options inside the market or outside. Various options are available inside - comfy leather-like couches, leather-like booths, individual or group tables, and high tops. Outside you'll find tables immediately outside of the Van Aken Market Hall or seasonally on the lawn. If you stop by during the right times, you'll find the district bustling with music and seasonal events. It's also always a good idea to pick up a cup of coffee then go cowork at AO or browse the local shops. The menu at this and other locations is concise and simple. You can get brewed coffee, tea, espresso, lattes, and seasonal drinks. The menu is straightforward and not confusing. My morning go-to's are usually perfectly strong iced coffees. I also always pick up something from the specials menu. All specialty drinks are very well made and consistently prepared. I have never had any drinks here that disappointed me. Small batch snacks are available at this location such as croissants and tea biscuits. I sometimes purchase a snack here or patronize other vendors at the market. All coffee beans at Rising Star are top notch. I recently learned that they have a dedicated coffee buyer who travels to coffee farms and brings coffee back to Cleveland. They're also incredibly serious about their roasting process and have a local roastery. How amazing is that especially for a local coffee shop?! You can pick up beans at their location that are named after regions of where the coffee farms are located. Each coffee bean bag has taste notes listed on the bag, choose your adventure! Coffee bean bag prices vary from $16-19. They'll roast them for you and tailor to your coffee preparation method (i.e. coffee press). If you purchase coffee beans in store, you can get free 12 oz drip coffee! You can also order them online and they'll be roasted within 48 hours of shipping. I love to explore their coffees, get something new every time. I highly recommend this location for your coffee cravings! While you're here, look out for notNeutral coffee mug - sleek, 12 oz, and must have. In the words of Rising Star, "a laser-etched Rising Star emblem adds a subtle, sophisticated touch to the side of each piece."

And being inside the Van Aken District makes this such a fun spot to yap with friends or go on a date (have done both lol).

Tucked in Coventry neighborhood, there's Phoenix Coffee. The first thing you notice walking in is the vibe -- warm exposed brick walls, quirky and ever-changing local art (currently fairytale motif), and the smell of seriously strong, seriously good coffee. The Siren Eclipse art on the wall is alone worth the visit. And the scones? Unreal. Flaky, buttery, and somehow always fresh out of the oven. Really probably the best around. There's also other breakfast snacks like muffins and such. Very limited options but very tasty. Bonus points for the greenery -- the place doubles as a mini plant shop. There's a few leafy ones you can pick up. I got large drip coffee while I was there and it perfectly strong. There's two size options, light or dark roast. The menu also features some seasonal favorites. I had recently spring matcha there that was so vibrantly green. There's also a pretty extensive tea assortment. For warmer months, consider seating outside. They have very fun and aesthetically pleasing wooden benches. Street parking is available in the area but it gets busy. Try parking garage on the street to park. It's free to use.

I ordered the bandit (latte with lapsang syrup) and a mango/guava muffin--the muffin was good, but although made well, I really didn't enjoy the bandit (the lapsang syrup was a lot smokier than I anticipated). Although I'd order something different next time, I'll happily return!

I put up a copy of the advertisement from their instagram sight and I could be wrong but NOWHERE does it say in store offer only! That's false advertising. Biggby customer service can't even admit when they are wrong and try to make it right! The drinks were average at best, a little bit above gas station coffee, one of my drinks was the wrong size. The food was average to bland. I placed my order at 8:45am, 2 of the sandwiches I ordered were with everything bagels and my order was excepted online and completed and I was sent an email that what I had ordered was properly completed.Once I got there to pick up my food I was informed they were all out of everything bagels a mere 3 hours after opening and there first week of being open. There wasn't even a huge line, there were 2 cars in line and I was close by and could see that they hadn't been busy. I asked for 2 Asiago bagels instead and they said ok, 5 minutes later I was told they only had 1 Asiago and the other would have to be a plain bagel. I wasn't even offered any kind of discount or apology for not having what i ordered. So the new store first thing in the morning is out of 2 of the 3 types of bagels they have and the food was very bland. Plus the waffle sausage egg and cheese sandwich was bland plus the price was higher than most and for what you get not completely worth it. Myself and my family will definitely not be customers ever again!!
