I thought I had my favorite sandwich picked out, but, then I discovered DS Cakes. Today I drove 35 miles to get their chicken cheddar sandwich three days after I tried it the first time - served on a grainy ciabatta, with fresh, roasted chicken, cheddar cheese, a delicious slaw, and a side of balsamic vinaigrette. I also grabbed a turkey reuban for a friend who said it was delicious. The Polish cheesecake and zucchini nut bread were so yummy. They have a dozen bars I would've loved to have tried. The place is cozy and homey. The service is quick and friendly. I wish they had a location closer to Cleveland Heights. read more

Had the best pierogies here and topped it off with an amazing cookie bar dessert. Love their sandwiches, soups and quiche. Great staff and a cozy atmosphere. We purchased a cake a long time ago when she first opened her business (as in 10 years +) and it was incredible. I ordered one for a birthday recently and we served it within a few hours. Within the same parking lot as their old location, their new spot is basically two units. Parties (ie bridal showers, baby showers, baptisms) or smaller events/meetings can be held in their party room. Their menu has been updated with a few new items, now displayed on large TV screens. Found this adorable place where we stopped for lunch. I had a chicken/bacon/ranch wrap and my friend had a quinoa protein salad bowl with sweet potatoes etc. Food was extremely fresh! We both loved our food as we stayed to people watch and sit at one of the cute tables. Then we bought 4 different bakery products to take home with us. ALL were very good but the cheesecake was our favorite. Our second favorite were the pecan tassie bars. We highly recommend DS Cakes & Sweet Cafe. Haven't been to this place in a couple of years. Well... Same parking lot just a bigger store. Place looks great, way more room to sit and read the paper. I ordered an Americano and bagel w/Cream Cheese. I thought the toasted bagel with Cream Cheese was a bit expensive at $5, and it was not even close to my favorite. However the Americano was fantastic. I can't complain there. There was also a birthday party that I wanted to bring some cupcakes to. SO I picked up a 6 pack with some Brownie bars. I mean these things were fantastic. Place has some delicious cupcakes, and the brownie bars (tons of flavors) are also really good. Overall this place was pretty good. Service was excellent. Dollar for sugar, very little blueberry taste, then I bought 2 chocolate chip cookies. Maybe four inch in diameter tons of , sugar in it, both equal twelve.Dollars. The bakery section was empty. However, the coffee shop was very busy. It must be good coffee lousy bakery. It's okay to make a profit, but we're talking about flour. One of the cheapest ingredients you can buy.Why rip off your customers?Give them something for their money. I love finding hidden gems, and DC Cakes is one of the best hidden gems I have found! While out on a research visit, I came across this cafe and was impressed with its great reviews and decided to give it a shot, and boy was I pleasantly surprised. The staff members were very friendly and one of the members explained how five years ago her sister started this bakery after getting so many baked goods requests. The selections the cafe had varied from healthy salads to quiche to all the baked goods you could ever want. I decided on the pumpkin bread (2 for $5) and honey buttermilk donuts ($3) - both incredibly delicious! Also, at the end of the day, their coffee is free! They offer almond milk as a creamer and have a variety of sweetness too. I highly recommend DC cakes for breakfast, lunch or a snack in between! My oh my!! This place is adorable. We stopped by here for lunch and some yummy chocolate cupcakes. They are like the hostess cupcakes but 10x better! I also had the Cafe Italian Panini: it comes with salami, pepperoni, ham, smoke provolone and banana peppers on an Italian bread. I didn't get a picture of the panini since I was starving, but im sharing a picture of their delicious homemade cupcakes. We've been here twice since moving to Burton. Both times, we weren't very impressed. Their coffee is fantastic because its fig leaf. But, their sandwiches have zero taste. If I'm spending 22 bucks on 2 sandwiches, they should taste like 22$ sandwiches. Moving onto their sweets. Their blueberry muffins are ok. To much butter and not enough blueberries. It was disappointing. Their lemon bars aren't bad, however. When you're paying that much money for sweet treats, they should be worth it. We dropped over 60$ we won't be returning a third time. read more

Two visits and here's what was absolutely delicious: veggie quiche (slice $3), cinnamon rolls ($5 for 4 and they're big!), potato salad, turkey wrap (~$5?), blueberry buckle, maple/oatmeal/pecan scone. So fresh! The place is super clean...I think they could make it a bit more cozy tho. It doesn't make me want to stay and eat...but that's just my taste. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were staying at Punderson Manor and popped in to pick up some pastries for the next morning. We were greeted with smiles and laughter, as well as beautiful cakes and pastries. Since we were exploring, the owner offered up several places for us to visit, including the local artists shop a few doors up (See "Artisans' Corner Gallery" review). We decided on coffee as we were heading out with our delicious looking treats for the next morning, and they were so kind as to comp them for us since it was so late in the day. The following morning, coffee steamed from our cups as we opened our treats and began to devour them. They were AMAZING! I had TWO they were so good! We will be back for sure!
