My friends and I initially thought she was just being sassy, which is fine - we are down to banter. Unfortunately that was not the case. She was literally yelling across the bar at us - truly yelling. She treated us and everyone else who came in like an inconvenience. One friend ordered a beer, and later ordered a second round. She didn't ask him what kind, and poured him the same thing he had prior. (There was no talking to her while she was working - she made sure of that.) When he politely told her that it was not the beer he wanted, but he wanted a different beer, she literally said "I hate you." Threw it aggressively in the trash and legit stomped over to get him the right one. I ordered a second margarita, and this time it came carbonated, unlike the first one. I have an issue with carbonation- weird, I know, but it is what it is. When I asked her if she would please remake it, she became extremely upset. Like I had caused all of her life's problems. She tried to give the cocktail to random people at the bar, and I told her she probably shouldn't do that because I've been having a little bit of a cold. I'd had one or two sips of that drink first, because initially I was feeling a little worried about asking her to remake it. Turns out I was right to be worried. After that, she just literally refused to do it. She was like "well, I'm having a heat stroke, so let me sit down first." She then came over and sat on the other side of the bar, got on her phone, and said "this is what people on the other side of the bar do." She then proceeded to sit on her phone for five minutes. Then, other customers came in, and she got up and served them. She just refused to make my drink for me. I ended up swapping my drink with my partner because she didn't carbonate his, even though we got the same thing. Also -the second round of drinks I could tell that there was less tequila in it, and it was just filled with mixer. (You can't trick a fellow bartender). She made fun of my partner's hearing aids, and was yelling at him the whole time. She made fun of my friend for being half Japanese, squinting her eyes at him and asking him why his eyes were closed when he was talking to her. She claimed she could do so because she was also Asian. She was randomly dumping on us about how she was talking to her ex-boyfriend Chad of 10 years, even though she has a boyfriend currently, but she wanted to build a harem. (if you're a boyfriend reading this, run for your life.) When we wanted to check out, I pulled my card out to pay, and she saw that it was me paying and literally rolled her eyes at me. She wouldn't take my card and charged my boyfriend's card, who had opened the tab. We ended up having to ask for a printed receipt, because we weren't certain if she overcharged us, as she didn't show us the tab before running our card. I was a fine diving server for 6 years; food industry for 12. I bartended at a fine dining restaurant for several of those years. I would never in my life act the way this person acted. Krobar, I'm happy to take this down if you can find some resolution with this employee. If I were you, I would be incredibly embarrassed to let her the floor ever again.

Any time I have a question even if Andy isn't there his employees are helpful and let me know they will ask him and get back with an answer. The store recently redid the parking and added a lighted sign outside and their hours are some of the best in Old Town Orcutt open early and closed late. I love that I can go in the store and ask questions about certain bottles and price and have a great conversation. I never feel pressured to buy higher priced higher allocated bottles. Infact the opposite Andy will give his honest opinion and recommend a different often times cheaper and easier Bottle to find. The prices so long as they are standard offerings and not the coveted allocated bottles are very fair or even excellent meeting or beating MSRP which never happens in smaller privately owned businesses. It's a refreshing experience that I can go in have a conversation and not really be expected to buy. Because of this I have been a return customer and will continue to support a local business with majority of my purchases. Let's face it unfortunately a local liquor store can rarely compete with big box stores on certain items but what makes since to get local my first stop will always be Orcutt Liquor & Deli.
