It's so nice to have a little farmers market right on campus. You can take a quick break from the…read moreoffice or lab and do a little shopping. It's small, but the basics are there. Veggies herbs Fruits breads and muffins roasted nuts raw honeys fudge raw vegan almond dips (good!) etc. There used to be a lady who sold a plethora of different sprouted seeds and beans and grains. I loved it. But she has disappeared. I guess not enough people knew the power of sprouts! I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more variety now and then, but I understand, it's small, and probably not a huge turnout for the vendors. But I hope it sticks around. #1 Yelp 100 2013 challenge.

The farmer's market is something new at City of Hope this year. And although it isn't very big, it…read morehas a good variety of things. I've been here once so far (which I regret not coming sooner since I work here). I hope that there will be more additions to the market, but even now, it is still very fun to visit. There are many plants and herbs for you gardeners out there. I saw like two variations of basils, some ghost pepper plant, scented rose geranium and many more! There's at least 3 plant booths. There are lots of veggies & fresh fruits, and may I add they are gigantic! Like double the size of the fruits in grocery stores. And the best part is, they let you taste most of their fruits so you can see how sweet they are before you buy them! there's also like 3 of these booths. There is an almond spread booth... and they are delicious. My favorite flavor is the tomato basil and the jalapeno cilantro. Every flavor is available for tasting. It's $5 for a box, but $12 if you buy 3. There is a salsa booth with so many different types of salsa. I didn't try any though so i cant comment of it except there's quite a huge crowd around it. So i have to imagine it's pretty good. I gotta taste test these next time. The bread booth is pretty popular too. They have all sorts of unique bread you don't usually find at a grocery store. My friend bought some kind of rosemary garlic bread for $4. They also have some other baked goods besides bread. There is a honey booth which isn't that popular, but i bought the honey stix (4 for $1) because they were fun to eat. They taste good too. They also sell regular honey in little bottles. I'm sure those would go great with tea. There is a spice booth and they have spices out for you to smell and taste. This is also not as popular, but no surprise there. Nothing seems out of the ordinary with these spices... except they can come in huge sizes. If you need like cajoun, garlic salt, garlic pepper, spicy n hot spices, you should check this booth out. The spice guy seemed to know his stuff and can recommend spices to you depending on what you want to cook (or attempt cooking) There is a dried fruits booth... actually there may be 2 but they don't have the same types of dried fruits. One had stuff like dried mango, chili mango (which I'm coming back for next time because I forgot to buy some today). The other stand had like flattened dried fruits and some other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head. That's all the booths I remember from today's visit. I will be sure to update with pics the next time I go! In general, this is a fun place to visit on Thursdays, especially if you are at City of Hope that day. But even if you're not, you should come by and check it out anyways. It is open to the public. Be sure to bring cash. Some stand do take credit card though (prob with a minimum) so I guess you can bring both! I believe this will only be here all summer until the fall, so come check it out before it ends!

Plenty of parking every single time we've gone and it's one of the few markets that still sends our house the weekly print ad, which is great! Though if you don't get it, you can always check on their website. Solid deals and it's filled to the brim in a slightly aged and slightly claustrophobic way. There's pinatas and a lot of traditional Mexican goods and dishes here. There's already pre-seasoned and sauced meats if you want to grill or cook something different at home and a good selection of produce as well. The bakery section has sliced cakes and pre-decorated cakes. There's aguas frescas, pork rinds, fresh flowers for gifts, already assembled cold cut sandwiches, fresh cut fruit, candied apples, ceviche, baked goods, and much more. There's always a couple cashiers open and even with the crowds. Everything goes thru quick. Sales are variable depending on the week so I'd definitely check out the ads first.

The produce here is awful. If I do shop here, I never buy from the produce section and I have to…read morestop at another store for that. Compared to other similar markets, they are also more pricier which is another reason I do not shop here. The only reason I do come here is for their in-store made shrimp ceviche, tuna salad and some items they have on their prepared food menu like their mojarra frita, carnitas and maybe their torta de carne asada (once in a while) when I'm not up for cooking because im running behind on time. The ceviche is better than most markets around if you don't have time to make it yourself, or order in advance from a preferred vendor or restaurant. And they make good tuna salad. But my absolute favorites that are making my mouth water as I'm writing this review, are the mojarra and carnitas. The mojarra can be ordered as a plate or à la carte. I usually get it à la carte which comes with just the fish, lemons, salsa and a roasted pepper. But, they aren't always consistent in offering you the roasted peppers and salsa so don't forget to ask for it. Ordered as a plate it comes with rice beans and tortillas additionally. I also love their carnitas and it comes with salsa's and roasted peppers as well but it's around $19/pound . I also like their carne asada torta and better than other places or restaurants around too-comes with the same fixings. They also make and sell aqua fresca here-I think just 3-4 flavors. I love the chia flavor. They don't over sugar it here. This market also has a decent selection of Central American cheeses, kitchen pottery and makes their own fresh tortillas. They even have a little jewelry shop inside the store that sells abd repairs jewelry including gold. I've picked up cakes and other deserts from their bakery before when I'm in a jam, but not my go-to place because again, they are on the pricey side. When I first discovered this market about 5 years ago and tried their mojarra frita, I was amazed because it was like $8 à la carte for a large fish. Great price! Now it's about $12.50 and the fish is not nearly the same size-a lot smaller now. You can find some good food and other items here but you'll pay a higher price than at other markets and it's not because it's good quality either. I don't care for their butcher counter either-quality of meat lacks considering the steep price. Large parking lot and plenty of parking spaces. I believe they also have a Western Union/MoneyGram and do check cashing there too.

The owners…read moreare incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can really feel that positive energy the moment you walk in. It is the kind of spot that makes you want to come back not just for the food, but for the overall experience. I have had the chance to try a few different things on the menu so far, including their bagels (jalapeño cheese, my fav) and juices, and everything has been consistently fresh and delicious. You can tell they put a lot of care into the quality of their ingredients, and it really shows in every bite and sip. Most recently, I tried their turkey albondigas soup, and I was honestly blown away. The broth was rich and full of flavor, perfectly seasoned without being overpowering. What really surprised me was the albondigas themselves. I could not believe they were made with turkey. They were so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor that I would have guessed a different meat entirely. It is not easy to make turkey taste that good, but they absolutely nailed it. Overall, this place has quickly become one of my favorites. Great food, amazing service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It is everything you could ask for. I highly recommend giving them a try if you have not already.

They weren't rude when we interacted with them, but they also weren't particularly friendly or welcoming. We ordered two sandwiches, a grilled cheese, and a salad. It took over 30 minutes to receive our food, which felt excessive for what we ordered. All the sandwiches and the grilled cheese came on sourdough bread, but the bread tasted stale. On the positive side, the ingredients themselves seemed fresh, which I do appreciate. I ordered the Pollo Asado Southwestern Chicken Sandwich, which sounded great on the menu, but it ended up being disappointing--the chicken was dry and lacked flavor. My wife ordered the chicken salad, and the portion of chicken was surprisingly small. It was served on the side in what looked like a small salsa container, and the dressing itself was also very bland. Overall, the food just lacked seasoning. I don't mind lighter seasoning or lower sodium, but everything tasted almost flavorless. My daughters ordered slushies, and those were also underwhelming--more like lightly flavored water than what you'd expect from a slush. The one thing that stood out in a positive way was that the place was clean, and again, most of the ingredients seemed fresh. However, between the long wait time, lack of flavor, and portion issues, it wasn't the experience we were hoping for.
