It's the same plaza as Boba Tea Lounge and there's a Millie's there too (high school memories before it closed in Walnut). Plenty of parking every single time we've gone and it's one of the few markets that still sends our house the weekly print ad, which is great! Though if you don't get it, you can always check on their website. Solid deals and it's filled to the brim in a slightly aged and slightly claustrophobic way. There's pinatas and a lot of traditional Mexican goods and dishes here. There's already pre-seasoned and sauced meats if you want to grill or cook something different at home and a good selection of produce as well. The bakery section has sliced cakes and pre-decorated cakes. There's aguas frescas, pork rinds, fresh flowers for gifts, already assembled cold cut sandwiches, fresh cut fruit, candied apples, ceviche, baked goods, and much more. There's always a couple cashiers open and even with the crowds. Everything goes thru quick. Sales are variable depending on the week so I'd definitely check out the ads first. read more

The produce here is awful. If I do shop here, I never buy from the produce section and I have to stop at another store for that. Compared to other similar markets, they are also more pricier which is another reason I do not shop here. The only reason I do come here is for their in-store made shrimp ceviche, tuna salad and some items they have on their prepared food menu like their mojarra frita, carnitas and maybe their torta de carne asada (once in a while) when I'm not up for cooking because im running behind on time. The ceviche is better than most markets around if you don't have time to make it yourself, or order in advance from a preferred vendor or restaurant. And they make good tuna salad. But my absolute favorites that are making my mouth water as I'm writing this review, are the mojarra and carnitas. The mojarra can be ordered as a plate or à la carte. I usually get it à la carte which comes with just the fish, lemons, salsa and a roasted pepper. But, they aren't always consistent in offering you the roasted peppers and salsa so don't forget to ask for it. Ordered as a plate it comes with rice beans and tortillas additionally. I also love their carnitas and it comes with salsa's and roasted peppers as well but it's around $19/pound . I also like their carne asada torta and better than other places or restaurants around too-comes with the same fixings. They also make and sell aqua fresca here-I think just 3-4 flavors. I love the chia flavor. They don't over sugar it here. This market also has a decent selection of Central American cheeses, kitchen pottery and makes their own fresh tortillas. They even have a little jewelry shop inside the store that sells abd repairs jewelry including gold. I've picked up cakes and other deserts from their bakery before when I'm in a jam, but not my go-to place because again, they are on the pricey side. When I first discovered this market about 5 years ago and tried their mojarra frita, I was amazed because it was like $8 à la carte for a large fish. Great price! Now it's about $12.50 and the fish is not nearly the same size-a lot smaller now. You can find some good food and other items here but you'll pay a higher price than at other markets and it's not because it's good quality either. I don't care for their butcher counter either-quality of meat lacks considering the steep price. Large parking lot and plenty of parking spaces. I believe they also have a Western Union/MoneyGram and do check cashing there too. read more

Love this store, definitely my go to for meats and produce. The staff is all so friendly, the store looks very clean and well maintained.

First time visitor and I became a fan. I have driven by this store hundreds of times but never bothered to stop until recently when I was advised that they sell ready-made ceviche. I purchased two pounds and it was AMAZING!! The entire store has a positive vibe and there are many ready-made items to choose from including a section which sells hot food. I was craving fresh Bolillo to make some sandwiches at home. I went very early to Baja Ranch to get some. It is located in downtown Covina. They usually open at 7 AM. The Market was very clean. It was well stocked with fresh produce. I bought fresh vegetables and fruits. You can smell the fresheness of the hot bread which was so pleasant and irresistible. I like to rotate where I buy my weekly groceries. If I shop exclusively at one market, I end up buying the same thing over and over. It can become rather boring. I keep Baja Ranch as one of my go-to places. I can buy items here that are not available at other markets. For example, their bakery and hot deli foods are very good and made on the premises daily. We like the pan dulce, meat empanadas, aqua fresca, whole rotisserie chicken, tacos, burritos or enchiladas made as you wait. Buy individual servings or a tray with rice, beans or salad. The fresh meats from the butcher can be marinated or seasoned if you wish. I spotted some unusual items that must be popular to others, but I walk pass (rather quickly) when I see the pig ears or snout in the glass case! The dairy section and produce department is very clean and well stocked. The liquor section has a small selection, but you can find a good enough supply of beer, wine or hard liquor. You can stop here for breakfast, lunch or dinner and grab a few grocery items while you're airway here, save yourself a trip to store for the essentials. The deli/bakery has some of the best food that you can eat, with complementary dining area nearby, I highly recommend this freshly made juices, especially during a hot day. People beware when buying their ranchera meat. They are charging 15.99 a pound for choice grade meat. The owner of Baja must of seen the prices of the prime meat cut shops that are popping up. If you go to these shop you are paying 15.99 a pound for prime meat that is better quality than what they are selling at Baja. The price at Baja used to be 12 dollars which was fair but now they are trying to pass their meat for prime pricing. BEWARE! read more

If it wasn't because my husband likes the ceviche from here I would NEVER COME!!!! It's sooo expensive and the food tastes spoiled. They had their bolillos sitting out on the racks not even inside the bolillo container. I bought chicken nuggets the deli ones and I got home started cooking them and they tasted like how a wet dog smells. I bought arroz con leche and it's very bland! It looks soiled too idk I'm honestly not impressed! I spent $80 on nuggets, ceviche, beef milanesa, bolillo, salsa, beans and some paletas (ice cream) for my kids. Today at approximately let's say 215 I went into the store grabbed some groceries. I then asked the checkout clerk if she knew where there was olive oil, if they had any?her answer was, I don't know. She didn't even try to help me. Yet I still gave her the benefit of a doubt that she would probably try to find out, which she didn't. So then I asked again, If there was somebody that does know and her answer was there's those two guys over there as she points at them, her answer was, go ask them instead of asking them herself with not a pleasant face. She had a tattoo in the back of her ear an older Mexican woman. I then walked up to them and then asked, which they helped me very pleasantly with no hesitation which was very nice. I am a Cuban American and decided to make a typical Cuban dinner. I am grateful Baja Ranch carries Cuban products. But, the male cashier failed to put my groceries in the Trader Joe's bag I had. The store was empty, only one customer behind me. I proceeded to put my groceries in the bag and dropped the jar of green olives. I had to go get another one, got another cashier who put the jar of olives and additional pimento jars that I had forgotten inside my Trader Joe's bag. This is why I never come here. I spent $57, so it's not cheap here especially the Cuban items. I paid for the second jar of green olives, even though it was not my fault. I didn't know I had to be trained to bag my own stuff. This is why I shop at Sprouts and Trader Joe's. If I make Cuban food again, I'm sending my husband who's the one who usually comes here when we need anything Cuban. read more

My go to for Baja is the fish ceviche. This is coming from a mariscos feen that was never fond of fish ceviche until I locked lips with this bAss. It's flavorful, refreshing and oh so god with a ice cold beer. Their guaca salsa compliments this lovely dish with some enjoyable spice. If you're in the mood for a sandwich, get the Cuban sandwich. I believe this place deserves higher than a 3 star average, so let me share my unbiased and accurate experience at baja ranch market based on the many years i've been a patron here, including when it was still called King ranch! They have a good selection of authentic Latino ingredients including central american favorites and other grocery items. This is where we go to get the fixings for making these kinds of traditional dishes rather than your typical run of the mill grocery stores which tend to not always have what's necessary. They have a great spice selection and their hot food counter is great too! My family and I are a big fan of their carnitas. Buy some of that, some of their yummy tortillas and salsa and make some guacamole if you like, and you have yourself a delicious and easy dinner. They also have pan dulce and galetas and all kinds of delicious desserts, including a big freezer section filled with paletas and ice cream of all flavors. Only reason for a star off is because the produce can be hit or miss but I find that this is often the case at lots of grocery stores. everyone that works here is sweet and friendly in my experience and that along with the quality of most items being sold and the inclusion of specialty products that are hard to find elsewhere keep me coming back.
