I have been coming for at least a year and always see the same person for my fingernails and different people for my toenails. They had mentioned doing builder gel next time I came in on my nails so I asked about that today. The front desk girl tells me it'll be $61 for a full set and I let her know it's my natural nails and she says it'll be $49 in the end. It's usually $54 total for dip anytime I come so I decided I would try the builder gel. When I checked out, the total jumps to $72 and I'm highly confused as to why. I specifically had asked the price beforehand so I knew what it would be and not much more than normal. She apologizes and said she didn't know it was dip on my nails even though I had said it was when looking at colors. I won't be returning. read more

I go back-and-forth with this place and still continue to come by mainly because they offer a wine or beer while I'm getting my nails done. But today really made me rethink my decision. I stopped by for a french tip dip with color instead of white tips. honestly, my biggest pet peeve with all nail salons is the up charge on removing the color. They charged me three dollars for removing my gel nail polish and I also had a five dollar up charge on a "special shape"? I used my natural nails with an almond shape. I basically paid an additional $10 for color instead of white plus tip on top of whatever service I received so my service ended up close to like $80. read more

First time here. The nail tech did not use autoclaved or sterilized nail cutters, cuticle cutters, or metal pushers. These came out of a box wrapped in an old paper towel. Not from a pouch. I had to tell them to open a new pouch for me. Their files are all reused. Look up the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and you will see what nail shops are supposed to be doing. Customers are at risk of acquiring staph., hepatitis, and fungal infections from their actions. Unbelievable. After you pay high amounts for a gel manicure you would think they could afford a new nail file and to properly sterilize their instruments. Beware. I'm a doctor so I look out for these things but not everyone may be aware of the requirements and risks. Save yourself a potentially serious health hazard and go somewhere else! read more

I enjoyed my time here. Funny story - my now fiancé proposed to my while on a camping trip just 30 minutes from this salon. My nails were looking terrible so we woke up and headed into town (CS). I just walked in and was able to get serviced. I wad offered a beverage and was pleasantly surprised to see they had a margarita machine, so that was a nice change :) The guy who did my nails was straight to the point and did a good job. I liked that at the end of the service, they sent me home with a card letting me know who my nail tech was, what color I chose & let me know I could come back for any errors that needed fixing. While out of town thought would get my nails done while I had time. The manicure was spot on however the pedi was not even close to enjoyable, after the fact, painful. There are certain parts of the lower leg that actually hurts if rubbed on, such as the top of the lower leg. Makes you wonder if there's any real training. Another key point is that if the toe cuticle is bleeding, lay off the exfoliation tool. read more

I decided to try this nail salon since I haven't had great experiences so far in College Station. The reviews seemed overall positive, so I made an appointment to get SNS on my grown-out nails. At first, it was a really great experience with friendly staff. I showed the person at the front desk what I wanted and he said it would be no problem. I also made sure to ask about prices before I went through with anything because I have been charged more than what was agreed upon at the end of the service before. The nail tech was super sweet but rushed through doing my nails. I said at the beginning of the service that I wanted dip on my natural nails since they'd grown long, but when she took the old ones off she clipped my real nails down to nubs. I ended up leaving the salon with dip powder stuck to my fingers, which basically glued my nails down, and had to pick it out with a nail clipper at home. I went to check out but was completely shocked when I was up-charged for almost $10. Why? Because they took my old nails off (you know, what you have to do to nearly everyone getting a manicure, especially with dip) and I chose more than one color. No design, tips, or anything special, just different colors. I have NEVER been charged for this, and there was no indication that it would cost more. Nobody said it would, and it wasn't on the menu. When I asked about the "extra" charges, the nail tech said it was $5 for 5 nails. Huh? I was too flustered to argue and didn't realize until I left that the receipt showed that she charged me for tips and gel removal on my nails. Funny considering I didn't get tips or a gel manicure, and she didn't mention this when I asked. The only time I have been charged for nail removal is if that is the ONLY service I'm getting, the rest of the time it's always included in the manicure. And as far as extra colors go, this is my regular manicure and I have never once been charged for it. It's one thing to get designs or something like that, but plain dip? I don't think so. I'm going to be honest and say that not a lot of nail salons in this area are great, but this is the first time I've been blatantly up-charged for no reason. As someone living in a town full of college students, the majority of whom are on a tight budget, I don't think it's acceptable or fair to throw extra charges at people that weren't agreed upon. All this to say that I did not expect to walk into a salon quoting me at $39 to end up paying more than $50 for a plain and mediocre nail job. This place is decent, but I won't be back. I love the shape, but honestly the design is sloppy. I paid $20 extra for the stars and I really regret it. I did tell them as soon as I walked in that I wanted detailed designs hoping they would give me someone who was skilled/experienced but unfortunately it turned out pretty messy. After weeks of slowly cutting my wedding gel nails off with regular nail clippers at home, I finally decided to get the rest of the gel off at the nail shop. I haven't been to any nail spas in College Station/Bryan, so I just decided to come to Grand Nail Spa because it was closest to where I was running errands this morning. Upon walking inside, I was seated almost immediately without making a reservation. The establishment was clean and spacious, but that was about all the good things I can say about here. Unfortunately, Kim, who removed my gel nails, was the least skilled nail technician I ever came across. Even though I am not a licensed nail technician myself, I've gotten my nails done numerous times and also have a gel set myself to do them at home. So I had my doubts when she pulled out the biggest, bulkiest nail drill --but I wanted to trust her judgment since *she* was a professional... but alas, she was not. I have pretty high pain tolerance but getting my gel nails drilled by Kim was a pretty painful experience, even when she was not nipping my lateral and proximal nail folds. Fortunately, she didn't draw any blood, but it was overall an unpleasant and painful experience. She did use a smoother and smaller drill to smooth everything out for the second time, but she was certainly more rough with that drill, as my nail folds were constantly being drilled by it. Despite so, there still were clear bits of gel nail left on the sides of my nail plates on almost every single finger, which I decided to pick with my nails myself to avoid being hurt again. I must say that I was lucky not to get my nails painted because that was what I was also considering doing. read more

Worst manicure and pedicure I've had in a while. Didn't file my nails and had to ask her twice to smooth them out. She was rushing despite being no one in the shop, resulting in messy shellac in my nail bed and around nail. her fix was to buff my skin instead of removing it after I asked her to remove the excess three times and to slow down. Within 15 minutes my big toe smudged at which point I realized the woman doing the pedicure had just cut my toenails across and hadn't rounded the edge. Awful. I always come here and have loved every visit but I had a very complicated nail tech who got upset because I told him the nails I wanted were a lot shorter than I told him.. he then does a dramatically longer set which I know was making fun of me because it was drastically longer than I was telling him. When I tried talking to him about the medium length I wanted he completely ignored me and refused to cut them any shorter. I've heard good thing about Grand Nail Spa from a friend so my boyfriend and I went for pedicures the very next day. I've been to about 7 nail spas in the area and I've been pretty disappointed so I wasn't expecting anything different from this spa visit. As soon as we walked into the door we were greeted by the bubbly receptionist. There was a 20min wait. We were totally okay with that and it gave us sometime to admire the beautiful and CLEAN spa. They have a wide range of colors to chose from and most of the colors have a Gel(shellac)color to match. The owner (BJ) allowed us to sit in the nice massage chairs while we waited for a nail technician to get our pedicure started. We were offered water, margaritas, wine and sodas. Everyone was nice and the environment was super chill. No loud chatting across the room or technicians running around rushing to finish nails. While getting my toes done I decided to get a manicure and they were totally okay with that...even though they were about to close. The technician that did my manicure did not rush and he was super gentle. He didn't speak much but once I started chatting with him he opened up. Upon check out I was given the promotional 15% off which made my services even cheaper then what they were. I am super happy with the quality and the service I received today!
