OMG, where do I even start?! We stayed in the 2‑bedroom, 2‑bathroom suite at Grand Pacific Palisades Resort, and it was literally perfect for our family of six! The condo was HUGE, super clean, and had everything we could possibly need -- honestly, I think we could've hosted a small party in there! The location is insane -- walking distance to LEGOLAND, and there's even a secret pathway that leads straight to the parking entrance. Talk about convenience! No "are we there yet?!" from the kids because it was just a hop, skip, and a jump away. The resort itself is amazing -- our suite was right by the playground, so the kids were entertained while we got a tiny breather. And the best part? We could watch LEGOLAND fireworks right from our room at night. Ping pong, games, and laughter galore -- this place is basically a kid paradise... and a slight adult paradise too because the beds were comfy. And the staff? Absolutely the sweetest ever! They were so friendly and helpful, and one of the ladies even went out of her way and bought a cake for my daughter's birthday -- I mean, can you even?! That was the sweetest thing ever and really made our trip extra special. and not to mention smore packages and u can have smore night!! Price-wise, the 2‑bedroom, 2‑bathroom suite for a Friday/Saturday night is typically around $400-$500+, depending on the season -- but honestly, with everything you get, it's worth every penny for a stress-free, fun-packed family getaway. The room is huge and we needed it to be as we're traveling with our grandkids. There is a full size bed and two twin beds with a full size fridge and a kitchen area. This room would work well for either a long time stay or a family who wants to cook for their family. The only problem we had was the elevator was broken which means you have to drag your luggage up flights of stairs. It was clean and close to our destination of Carlsbad. We would stay here again. We recently stayed at Grand Pacific Palisades for a little staycation. We've stayed at the resort before and enjoyed the amenities, so we decided to return. Check-In Experience: We arrived around 3:30 PM, knowing check-in wasn't until 5:00 PM but that we could use the facilities early. We asked if the room might be ready, and while it wasn't, the front desk said they'd call when it was. At about 4:15 PM, we received a call that the room was ready, so I took my youngest from the pool and headed over. Unfortunately, when we arrived, housekeeping had just started cleaning the room. I walked back to the front desk, and although they apologized, it didn't feel very sincere. They again said they'd call when the room was truly ready--but they never did. Luckily, we had a view of the room from the pool and noticed when housekeeping was done. Facilities & Amenities: The elevator was out of service, which made things challenging with three kids, two strollers, and everything we needed for the pool, beach, and Legoland. The staff offered help from maintenance with luggage, which was thoughtful, but didn't fully solve the issue for our situation. The pool area is family-friendly, with a splash pad the kids loved--even though it's a little worn down. One concern: the pool deck is extremely slippery. We saw multiple people slip and fall hard, which really should be addressed for safety. The playground also needs some attention--there were cobwebs, broken equipment, and it wasn't very clean. However, the activities room was a bright spot. It was clean, and the activities director was friendly and enthusiastic. There were plenty of family activities offered like birdhouse painting, yoga, chips and salsa socials, ice cream sandwiches, and movies on the lawn. There are also several BBQs available around the property, and you can catch some lovely ocean views. The Room: The room was spacious and worked well for our family of five. The kids loved having their own little room with a TV, which made the stay more fun for them. The kitchen was fully functional and allowed us to prepare and store meals easily. However, the room is showing its age. The floor had packing tape in places to keep it down, the bathtub had a rough patch job, and the coffee maker wasn't great. The TV was outdated--no streaming capabilities, just a DVD player (with a small selection of DVDs available at the front desk). The couch was old and squeaky, and the beds were soft with visible indentations. Location: The location is a huge plus. Legoland is an easy 10-minute walk, which made it convenient to come and go for breaks throughout the day. There's also a Costco nearby, several restaurants within a short drive, and Karl Strauss is right across the street. You can easily take the trolley or drive to the beach as well. Management Follow-Up: At the end of our stay, we had a conversation with the management team. They were very apologetic and made things right. We weren't looking for anything in return--our goal was simply to give them an opportunity to hear our feedback and make changes. The team received our comments thoughtfully and seemed to take them to heart, which we truly appreciated. Overall: We had a good time, mainly due to the family-friendly amenities, great location, and room size. While there were a number of maintenance and communication issues, we left feeling heard and valued by the management. With a few updates and closer attention to guest experience, this resort has the potential to be even better. read more

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Grand Pacific Palisades. A family friendly resort that comes with a kids' splash pad, a mini playground, and even a small arcade, this is a great place for both adults and the little ones to enjoy themselves. I was not expecting the rooms to be as large as they were - we literally had an apartment sized suite that included two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen (inclusive of all appliances and utensils), and a full living room/dining room. It was more than enough space for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids). However, the booking description was a bit misleading as it says I booked a suite that included "1 king, 1 double and 1 twin". However, what you actually get is one bedroom with a king bed and another bedroom with two twin beds. It made for some interesting sleeping arrangements. They have a small shop downstairs behind the lobby. The options are fairly limited, although we were able to get some boxed mac n cheese for the kids' dinner one night and get some canned wine for ourselves. Parking is underground and is free, which is a nice perk. Karl Strause brewery and restaurant is also literally right next door and the hotel also has it's own private entrance where you can overlook the entire Flower Fields without having to pay any admission fee. This is also literally across the street from the Legoland park, you walk only 10 minutes to get from door to door. Would highly recommend staying at Grand Pacific Palisades! read more

I stayed here back in 2009 when Marbrisa was sold out and it was just fine. But this time my friend as a HGVC owner gifted us a 4 night stay here she couldn't use. This was the WORST stay ever. I couldn't believe it. They wouldn't let us into reservation claiming they couldn't find my name so my friend had to drive from Los Angeles to check us in at 8pm at night! Then they gave us the worst room. Everything in the room appeared rundown. It was a handicap room for me and my two teen boys with the smallest main bathroom with the floor that was coming up. The whole room Didn't feel clean. I couldn't sleep here. The rooms had a smell even with windows open. We came home a night early. The manager was rude and made the stay so unpleasant I didn't even want to deal with him to get our room changed. I wouldn't stay here again. I will stick with Marbrisa when I return. read more

We are new to the HGVC, and this was our first booking. I am extremely disappointed in this place. First, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Now for the bad news. On our last day, we noticed bugs in our kitchen. When I turned on the lights they all scattered. I managed to kill one and took a photo. I then noticed spider webs and spiders in corners of kitchen. I brought this up to front desk and they accommodated with food vouchers and said they would put points back on my time share. Again on the last night stay, this time it was in the evening, we noticed rodent droppings in our bed and "skid" marks on the sheets. I don't sleep naked, nor does my wife, so I know it wasn't us. I again told front desk and they switched us rooms. I'm writing this review on our last night, we will see if they contact us. read more

The building was beautiful. Literally 2 minute walk from Legoland. Came to mention a few people Ryan, Janet, Evan, Tom and Joy who really stood out to my mother in law. I've stayed in the Hilton side of the property and for first time I tried Grand Pacific Palisades side. I always enjoyed the pools, splash pad, activity room, arcade, playground, fire pits, mini basketball court, bbq area and lobby at the property. I enjoy the parking and easy walk to Legoland. What makes Grand Pacific Palisades stand out is the huge rooms! I booked a 2 bedroom - 2 bath condo. This resort has all the amenities of 4-5 star hotel but it fails to perfect or focus on the details. The hotel overall is on the nicer end. It's in a prime location for those visiting Legoland, Carlsbad beaches, flower fields/outlets or all the above. I stayed in a 2-BR suite and it was well stocked with plates, cups, silverware, and all other kitchen essentials. The beds were made and the surfaces seemed clean. However, I could tell the room was kind of falling apart. For example, every door handle has some issue where you can only successfully open the door by either turning up or down... The hard floors were also lifting in certain areas which is not a big deal but still an eyesore. I will say though that the furniture was in great shape. Every shower also came stocked with 12oz bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I assumed there would be housekeeping every day but it's actually on Tuesdays and Thursdays only so just FYI to those staying the weekend. I'm sure you can request it if needed though. They offer a ton of amenities like free parking (included in resort fee), two pools, activity room for kids, playground, splash pass for young kids. All these look nice in pics but we're a bit dingy in real life. The playground was definitely showing signs of wear/tear and fading. The splash pad had a bunch of debris from leaves which was odd because the hanging trees had no leaves on them. There was also a bandaid in the middle of the splash pad which was really gross. We checked out the activity center which was really just a TV room with books. I think there are scheduled activities for kids but we didn't partake. The redeeming qualities at this resort include: breathtaking views of the flower fields and the ocean (if you are in a coastal room), close proximity to outlets, walking distance to Legoland and Karl Strauss. These are the reasons we will definitely be coming back!! Oh btw If you are hoping for early check in or late check out, don't count on it. My guess is they are understaffed. What a great place this was. My sis and family was staying at one of their 2 bedrooms. Very very spacious inside, with living room and a nice fully functional kitchen which they used for cooking! The property is gorgeous. There is a very long track for walking overlooking the field where they used to grow flowers (didn't see any this time) and the ocean. There are many sections for pools - lanes, adults, family etc the family pool is a lot of fun for the kiddos - lots of water play fun! We spend every morning here and kids loved it.They also have a very cute playground right outside the pool on the grass. Clean bathrooms close to the pool and table tennis and some other games. Lots to be busy with! The brewery right outside the hotel is a gem of a location - great place for lunch or dinner (gets busy at dinner time). Food is spectacular, had a lot of amazing meals and tried most things on the menu and they are all very good and great portions! The resort is expensive but if ur sharing a 2 bedroom with another couple then totally worth it! Book in advance as they get sold out fast since it's super close to LegoLand. They have a bar in the lobby that serves a limited menu of food also. The staff are great, the location is great, and the amenities are good. They have a wonderful activity center where we got to paint canvases and birdhouses, they have ice cream socials and games, and other fun things to do. Stayed here for 4 nights to take my daughter to Legoland. Overall, I found the stay comfortable but there are some issues. PROS: - the room was very spacious. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. - location is fantastic. The hotel is situated right against the flower fields. You can get a great view of it just walking around the resort grounds. Legoland is a short walk - however the pedestrian crossing to Legoland is only open closer to park hours. Don't expect to be able to walk to the Legoland hotels at 7am for breakfast. - friendly staff. Check in was a breeze and they even accommodated early check in around 1:00 pm - lots of activities for kids. There's a playground and a pretty nice splash pad and pool CONS - elevator was broken for a majority of our stay. This made bringing up my daughter's stroller a real chore. - room was not in the best condition. There was a broken door knob in one of our bedrooms. The floorboards were sticking up a bit. Things weren't fully clean and pristine. - noise. Our room was next to the stairwell. We could hear people walking up and down the stairs all night. We could also hear kids running in the room above ours. - curtains did not block out all the light. It made getting my daughter down for a nap difficult. read more

Rating: I recently stayed at the Grand Pacific Palisades after a decade, choosing it again for its proximity to Legoland. Unfortunately, this stay was far from the pleasant experience I remembered. We reserved two rooms to accommodate family visiting from out of town and were told over the phone that check-in was at 5 PM, with the possibility of getting our rooms by 4-ish--important because we had dinner reservations and four young children, including two under the age of 2. Upon arrival, we encountered a chaotic scene: cars were lined up with no staff present to direct traffic or assist with luggage. A car blocked the front entrance for over 30 minutes, preventing any movement in the line. There was a kiosk for an attendant but remained empty. Not a great start, but we remained patient. When we tried to check in at 4:00 PM, we were informed that our rooms were not ready, contrary to what we were told. One room wasn't available until 5:15 PM, and the other wasn't ready until 6:01 PM (1 HOUR AFTER the 5:00pm Check-in) --making us late for dinner with our out-of-state guests. One of the two rooms we reserved was room 381 on the 3rd floor--DO NOT STAY IN THIS ROOM. The AC condensers above caused the room to vibrate so much that it was impossible to get any sleep. When we called maintenance, the staff admitted they wouldn't have their own family stay in such a room. Despite multiple complaints, no alternative room was offered until I had to escalate the issue with the Hotel General Manager, who finally gave us 50% off one night for room 381 AFTER WE CHECKED OUT. To top it off, on the morning of our departure, the elevators went out, and we were given a $100 breakfast credit--not as compensation for the room issues, but because of the elevator malfunction. While the overall experience was disappointing, I do want to acknowledge the staff who provided excellent service during our stay. I'm always willing to tip for great service, and I made sure to tip the bar and breakfast staff well. Aaron at the bar was particularly great, and the Cassara staff were extremely helpful. One night, I even tipped a staff member on the Cassara side $50 because he went out of his way to find bottles water for me. The Cassara and the Grand Pacific Palisades are run by Hilton but two different entities. Very odd set up but they Cassara folks are the only ones that really tried to help remedy a frustrating experience. In summary, this stay was a major disappointment, marred by poor service, lack of organization, and uncomfortable accommodations. The compensation offered did little to make up for the significant inconvenience and discomfort we endured, but the efforts of a few dedicated Cassara staff members did not go unnoticed. Our second time staying here, this place is the ideal getaway for us from Northern California, away from the busy city, close enough to beach and enough on site activities for the kids All Thanks to RYAN the activities director- a rare bright personality and asset to the resort. The kids love the activities- please do not get rid of them. We also did Yoga as a family - the instructor was great and again props to Ryan for coordinating it. The rooms are condo style so there's a full kitchen, room is separate from the living room and nice size balconies. The pool is great, they also have a park for kids, arcade room, activity center where you can play pool , rent board games etc. the lobby has a bar and they also serve Starbucks coffee and food. We tried their breakfast .. it was ok but it was overpriced esp for what you get. Next time I'll just get a bagel or pastry instead of the entrees you can order. Stayed here with two preteen boys. They loved the family pool! They liked a few of the daily activities too. The room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I don't sleep well - 5-6 hours a night. I slept 9 hours and 52 minutes, with ten minutes "awake" according to my watch. It was amazing! The kitchen has everything you need too! If you are going to Legoland, the walking map on Google is wrong! You literally cross the street, walk along the fence, and there's an opening in the fence. You then cross the Legoland parking lot and you are at the gate! I want to stay here again, but without kids this time. Haha. I really don't know what happened to this place. Staff is great and I understand the hotel is going under constructions but you can't be doing it right in the balcony. I want to be able to open my window. I don't want my kids to maybe accidentally run into a ladder or step into paint in the morning. The assistant general manager Len Regan did apologize for the first day and gave us some coupons but I didn't think it was going to be for the duration of the entire stay where I would feel trapped inside my room and not being able to open the curtains. That's a bit ridiculous and I can't recommend staying at this hotel until the construction is over, this is a serious lack of customer consideration. read more

I was unsure if this resort was going to be even two stars since the reviews I've read were 50/50 but this place was actually really great. There were some construction going on around the resort with pretty big repairs being done, but it didn't bother me. The beautiful lobby had a nice view of the ocean. It's across the street from Legoland although it doesn't seem very walkable to the park. Parking is underground and secure. The two bedroom suite was very spacious and clean. Our bathroom didn't have a shower curtain which was weird but nothing I couldn't fix with just putting towels on the floor. My family loved the room and all the space. My daughter loved the toddler playground. There's a small arcade and activity room with billiards and the availability to rent sports equipment. We didn't get a chance to use the kids pool but I think we are definitely going to come back for that! Already looking to book our next stay here. read more

Full kitchen with everything you need to make dinner or breakfast. Only one thing we had an issue was that the tv in the room had a remote that did not work took me 3 hours to get a new one and when I tried to use it. It was the wrong one he brought me one for the DVD player . We just have up and the tv in the living room was not lowering the volume so the kids ended up watching a movie on the phone. So faking a sleep was a problem. But it was good other than that. read more

The interior of the room was very clean, modern and spacious. Kitchen was very well equipped. Bathroom had a shower and bathtub but only 1 toilet. Too bad as the better use of space for a 4 person condo would have been 2 toilets. The exterior of the condos do show their age, same with the water play structure and kids pool. We could hear the pool noise as well as upstairs footsteps. The adult pool looks newer in line with the Cassara hotel sharing the same property. We vacationed here to take our kids to Legoland. There is no other resort with the perfect proximity to the amusement park, Premium Outlets, Flower Fields and Costco. The Olympic size pool was kept heated, never crowded and situated to enjoy the beautiful coastal views. My son swam laps at night to keep up with his training. Although we didn't use it, the family pool was spacious and had several interactive toys for the little ones. Picnic areas with grills were more than enough. There's also a small arcade, gym, activity center and laundry facilities. They maintain a pretty good activity calendar. The kids enjoyed the ones they joined. We stayed in large, modern two bedroom condo suite with a balcony overlooking the Flower Fields and views of the ocean in the distance. Every morning was spent there sitting under the morning sun, with my coffee admiring the rows and rows of colorful flowers. The pictures and descriptions on the website are not exaggerated. Karl Strauss restaurant is onsite and was always busy when we went. Good food, nice service. We preferred to pick up our order and take it back to our room. More restaurants, shopping and the beach are a short drive away. We also enjoyed just walking the surrounding areas of the resort, especially around sunset. The staff were all courteous and eager to help. Parking was never a problem. We found out during our stay that the Grand Pacific Palisades is part of the Hilton portfolio. Long story short, we became happy HGVC owners of -- surprise! -- a two bedroom condo suite overlooking the Flower Fields with lovely ocean views. :) read more

We stayed here for a week in a 2-bedroom deluxe suite as Hilton Grand Vacations members. Our suite was perfect. It was clean, spacious, and comfortable. It was close to the fantastic playground and family pool and splash area. Our toddler loved the playground, pool, and splash area! We were also close to laundry facilities, which was convenient. The view of the ocean from the back of the resort was nice. The restaurant on site was great. Since we were traveling with a two-year old, having a spacious suite and full kitchen was great. It was nice that the hotel provided a Pack-n-Play to use as a crib, as well as a high chair. It was very convenient that we could walk across the street to Legoland. We took advantage of that convenience and ended up going to Legoland two days during our stay. I liked that the hotel was quiet and we didn't hear the noise of the amusement park during the day from our suite. The resort was in a convenient location, but still felt serene. We would definitely stay here again. We can't wait until the next opportunity to make it to Carlsbad and stay there. read more

That said, the walls and floors are thin, so tough luck if you have loud neighbors. Unsafe pool area. People are slipping constantly even when walking. They have a signs acknowledging that the floors are slippery when wet yet they take no efforts to add more texture to the floor to prevent slipping. My husband slipped and hit his head very hard while simply walking. The staff do NOT communicate with each other. We had so many other issues with this place including a broken sofa bed, leaking ceiling, locked out of our room then sent into someone else's room. Unacceptable. We chose the two bedroom unit, and it was like an apartment. Everything was clean, except for the floor, as my baby got smudged feet and knees immediately upon crawling. The beds were very comfortable, and the location was great for our needs. It was only 30 minutes to Sea World and we were able to walk to a separate entrance for Legoland across the street. The pool was heated, which was great with the chillier-than-expected weather we experienced, and my daughter had so much fun with the kids splash pad. The water slide was the perfect size for her to play on her own. We've taken her to other hotels with bigger slides, and we have to go with her over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. While I love spending time with my daughter, this is not my idea of a relaxing time (although climbing up those steps helps with my legs, etc. Lol). The on-site restaurant was a life saver for quick dinners and lunches, since we could walk right up and pick up our food. I do wish that check-in was earlier, and I DEFINITELY wish check-out was later (10am is quite early...), but we had a really nice time and wouldn't hesitate to return. The hotel also lets you check out beach equipment to take to the ocean and has a handful of kids activities like birdhouse paining and ice cream sundae making, We missed all of that, unfortunately, but next time! read more

My friends and I just stayed at this wonderful resort. The resort was full but a little understaffed at the bar. But Connor Nolan stepped up and was such a great bartender/server. He can handle anything that comes his way! He is great under pressure and always serves with a smile. I hope to see him again next year. read more

Wow this place is great!! Beautiful pools well taken care of grounds. Flower fields are in bloom and the ocean view room we are in is incredible. Truly a great experience staying here. We will definitely be back for another staycation. This is the perfect location in Carlsbad :) read more
