I reached out to see about having my daughter's baby shower here and from the first call-I knew this was the place. Chris and his staff worked with us and was so wonderful. He paid attention to detail and ensured nothing was amiss. We had to change the date of the shower nearly a week prior to the event and everything was moved with no issues. I can't say enough about Chris, his staff, the food, the décor and the level of service we received. I'm looking for a reason to host another event here. I don't even know where to start. Be prepared, this is a lengthy review. I had my bridal shower here this week- everything was PERFECT. From the amazing food, the ice cream sundae bar, the incredible staff, the uplighting, the accommodation, Chris the manager, Betty the maitre d', let me go in depth here: I met with Chris a couple of months ago to inquire about booking and he was so professional and informative. He was VERY fair when it came to pricing, the best I found in Staten Island for the service and type of hall we were getting. After calling and going to almost every venue on Staten island, I was confident in choosing the Grand Plaza, and I'm so happy I made that decision. He was able to accommodate an all female staff and kosher/halal meat per my request. They also allowed us to come the morning of the shower to set up centerpieces and our flower wall! Christine at the front desk was very helpful with any questions I had and set everything up efficiently with the contract and menu. The day of the shower, we brought a cake, cupcakes and macaroons for the dessert table. Betty and her staff set everything up with their own cupcake towers, trays and even added their own complimentary matching decor to the dessert table without me asking for it! Betty was AMAZING, she checked on me throughout the entire night and even made sure to save me ice cream from the sundae bar at the end since being the bride to be, I barely had time to grab anything! The food. Was. Incredible. The pickiest of guests were telling me how great the amazing the food was. I honestly wish I could go back just to have dinner there, I still can't stop thinking about that pesto crusted salmon! (I'm serious) The wait staff. I can honestly say I have never encountered such professionalism from a wait staff at any event I've attended. My guests were telling me all night that the venue, food, and specifically the staff, were amazing! Our dj was having technical difficulties and it cut back on our party time, but the staff was very lenient when the event went over our end time and we really appreciated this. We brought an 8 foot flower wall with a truck, and we didn't have the truck to take it home the same night, so Chris allowed us to pick it up the next day with no problem whatsoever. I will never forget how perfect my bridal shower was, and it was all thanks to the staff at the Grand Plaza. If you book your event here, you will NOT regret it! read more

I had my engagement party at the grand plaza this past weekend (May 28) and I couldn't have been more happy with the excellent service and amazing four course meal that was served. Do not listen to these reviews about Grand Plaza. I am having my wedding there in November - so a review is a little premature - but so far, the entire experience has been nothing short of wonderful. The manager Chris is such a great guy that works with you on every single detail. My fiance and I brought her mother to one of the food tastings and it was white-glove service with food after food after food. And it was delicious! The room is beautiful and they have done recent upgrades with lighting so that the entire room glows. When we booked the package, the show you all the options and make any changes that you require. I will do another review (or update this one) after my actual wedding - but up until this point, I can only give an A+ to Chris and his team at the Grand Plaza! read more

To the start of my Wedding planning and booking the Grand Plaza, Chris Cenci was wonderful. I didn't have the deposit needed to secure the date and Chris penciled me in with my word. He saved the date for me, no other place would ever do that, especially in wedding season. But I assured him my heart was set on the Grand Plaza and he worked with me. I felt like family from the start. I had so many ideas and emailed and called and visited Chris with everything and he paid close attention and made sure everything was brought to life! When I reached the Grand Plaza on my wedding day, i was in Awe. Tara my assistant and bartender waited on me all night. My guest were raving about her courteous ways, always asking them if they were ok and she kept the drinks flowing. The servers were kind and patient and the food was delicious! Worth every penny I spent. They cater one wedding at a time, so you get the whole venue to yourself. My guest kept guessing which room was next from the ceremony in one room to cocktail hr in another room and the Reception in the Grand Ballroom. On Saturday Night 3/30/19, we celebrated our Daughters Engagement at the Grand Plaza. From the day we booked (after looking at every catering hall in Staten Island) until the day of the Party, Chris & Christine were so professional and helpful and I have to say everything was PERFECT from beginning to end. The service was over the top, from the Maitre D, the Waiters, the Bartenders. All of our guests were raving about how excellent the food was, starting with the Park Salad, the Tortellini with Spinach alfredo was a big hit. We chose the hanger steak, the Chicken Fontina & the Pesto Crusted Salmon and they did not disappoint. All of our guests had a fabulous time! We had our wedding here on April 7 and it was fantastic! Everyone at the Grand Plaza was super helpful and accommodating, the food was great, and all of our guests had a fantastic time. Christine was so helpful in helping us plan every detail, and was very responsive to our needs and questions. Chris, the owner, was very nice and accommodating as well, and the bridal attendant and maitre d' ensured that everything ran smoothly the day of (seriously, I don't know what we would've done without them!). It's been a few days since I came here and I'm STILL dreaming about the pesto crusted salmon in tomato butter sauce- WOW. The service was incredible, every staff member was super attentive and quick to get whatever you needed, pleasantly too!! It's also really nice to sit in, everything is so clean and pretty (you feel like you're in a really fancy place). They've also got colored ceiling lights that can be adjusted to whatever color you like, which made the atmosphere really cool. If you're looking for the perfect hall to book your next event, look no further- this is the one!!! read more

This place is a DUMP. I attended an event last nite there and my entire family left there feeling disgusted by the filth on the utensils and the bugs in our food!! The glasses were not clean and still had lipstick stains on it from the previous person!! UNHEARD OF!! Not to mention that I saw 2 dead roaches embedded in that disgusting carpet. The staff is clueless and very unprofessional. The maitre d looks like she got her graduate degree and catering experience from a high school cafeteria.The food presentation was gross. The only thing good about the place was the bottled beer because they didn't make it. I wouldn't recommend this place to an animal. The board of health will be hearing from me next. How is a place like this still open?? There is not 1 place on Staten Island that I can truly say I had an unbelievable experience at. I'm not sure where the above reviewer went, but I don't think it was the Grand Plaza. We visited this place on our quest to find a catering hall for our wedding. First off, there is only 1 room not multiple rooms that were talked about above. You walk in, there's a tiny hall and you walk into this gigantic room with white everything, walls, ceiling, chair covers, with hideous green carpet and there are NO WINDOWS. It felt like I was in a gymnasium. They can even divide the room with what looked like a makeshift plastic type wall they move across. Um, no I'll pass. Now, let's talk about the presentation. We had an appointment and was greeted by a teenage girl with her breasts hanging out. I literally thought they were going to fall out of her shirt. Real professional. She brought us in the room for about 1 minute then walked us out. We then went in an office, where I'm assuming the banquet manager, ignored us and kept talking to his friend on the phone. She then handed us a menu and told us to look at it. I'm assuming this girl was no more then the receptionist. Then came in the car salesmen. He started going on and on about the price, how ":we won't find anything cheaper" then whipped out a calculator and started punching in numbers. Didn't explain anything, give us history on the place, he just wanted the sale. After the whole 3 minute presentation we left. I felt like I just left a really seedy car salesman. Yes, the price was the cheapest we saw, but you do get what you pay for. Needless to say, we didn't book there. This place reminds me of a sweet 16 factory, definitely not for an upscale event and lacking customer service to put it nicely.. read more

Booked our wedding in October 2020 for a 12/5/20 Reception. Chris the banquet manager notified us weeks later that because of the Covid Restrictions imposed by the city at that time, that they were unable to accommodate our wedding. (Note: at that time the city would not allow an event of more than 25 guests). Although we were still willing to cut our guest list down to 25, they cancelled the event. We married on 12/5/20 followed by a small dinner with immediate family in a private home. They have refused to refund our $3000 deposit. Insisting that we could use the amount as a future credit for a future event. We have no need for their services !!! Our other vendors were very sympathetic to what happened and fully refunded our deposits. (Florist, Limo, etc). Yet a year later they refuse to refund our $3000 deposit , for an event that THEY CANCELLED !!!! Simply Disgusting. Would not recommend doing business with an unscrupulous business such as this. read more

Clean, friendly, outstanding food, and relaxed atmosphere make this a really good place to have an event. Not sure how pricey this place is, but if your gonna have an event completely indoors, this place takes care of that perfectly. All the rooms are right near each other so there is no getting lost here, but it also feels like you're in a much larger place than it seems. The food is here is so good I wish I could this place 4.5 stars! Standard coctail hour but exceptional quality of everything, and dinner consisted of a nice sized whole roasted chicken. He is probably one of the nicest events manager that I have ever met, and downright pleasant and attentive to practically all the details. We could not have asked for more. Went to a Wedding there 9/24/16. Cocktail wasn't bad but every time the waiters brought food around by the time they got to the back tables they had one item to feed 12 of us at the table. There were three choices and I'm gluten free. So I ordered the Prime Rib I asked for medium to well done. It came out so rare and fatty that it turned me off! Before the main entree there was a pasta which I couldn't eat and before that was a salad which I had two because my niece didn't eat hers. For the entree the waiter said he will bring it back but I was just so turned off I just ate the mashed potatoes and vegetables. The pictures on the website looked so Lavish and Elegant unless there are others rooms that I didn't see. read more

I never leave reviews but I am so appreciative of all of their help for my engagement party that I HAVE to sing their praises! For us personally, they were the most affordable AND the nicest looking venue and most easy to work with- all in one! Chris Cenci is absolutely amazing to work with, such a sweetheart. He is very thorough, patient, helpful, and calming- he is a very large part of me wanting to leave this review. He readily answered all of our MANY questions lol, and he is a pleasure to work with! Everything down to the decor/theme I had in mind was able to freely be done, no issues. I bought all of my decorations to style the room ourselves and we were able to decorate in peace the night before, as well as getting help when needed. I got so many compliments on how beautiful the room looked. One side of my family are a bunch of hard to please Italians regarding food (LOL) and everyone RAVED over how amazing the food was, compared to other catering halls! My friend is a chef in NYC for government events & parties, and at the end of the night he actually wanted to meet the chef and compliment his work. Augie was everything a Maitre'd should be; calm, attentive and a leader making sure everything went smoothly for me and my fiance, as well as the guests. I had my wedding there on July 2015. I was not happy with the results at all. We made sure to pay for the best of everything even going for the dinner tasting and picking out our menu. Well the day of the wedding the Grand Plaza showed its true colors. My cake was messed up (I went to the bakery paid extra and gave photos of what I wanted it was drawn out by the bake shop and agreed it was going to be done) when the cake came it was all wrong (cant really blame the grand plaza for that but it didn't make me happy). Then there was the salads, NOT the salad I picked AND the salad they served looked and tasted like mush, like it was sitting in the dressing for hours before the wedding and there was so much dressing on it. We upgraded our package for the venetian hr., what I got was bruised mushy strawberries, my wrong wedding cake, a few ice creams and a handful of pastries. ALL on 2 tables for 110 people it looked like nothing was there I was completely embarrassed. The cocktail hour I will say was good. I spoke with the manager Chris who promised me a gift card for Arirang for messing up the salads. (which he later NEVER GAVE ME). I contacted another manager Margaret who I brought up all the other problems I had, after 3-4 months of sending her the photos of the cake, rotted strawberries etc. she mailed me a gift card. I reached out to Chris again to find out where his gift card was (for the salad mix up problems) he then told me he sent it back to crop since Margaret sent me a card for the other problems (which had nothing to do with the salad mix up he screwed that up).
