New management is doing a great job. The conditions of fairways and bunkers are like a private club. The staff is friendly. The tees could use some help. They are trying. The greens are pretty good. 06/21/2025 - I don't even know where to begin. Let me start by reminding everyone this course charges $90 for a round. 1:27 tee time greeted by approximately 16 other golfers on the first tee. Starter clearly has no idea what is going on as it was confirmed they let out 12 extra people to start the day. Of course this resulted in everybody's tee time being delayed by 35 minutes. I am currently 5 hours into my round and on hole 14. Absolutely no shame or regret shown by any of the employees here and when I asked for a discount they looked at me like I had 8 heads. Will not be coming back and will advise everyone who even thinks of playing this course not too. STOP THE GREED! read more

Course is in decent shape. Fairways aren't bad, but the greens are like putting on fairways. Slowest greens around and they keep them long probably because it gets so much play they'd die out if they properly cut them. All courses here are overpriced but this one isn't too bad. read more

Played on Sunday. Clubhouse/Bathrooms/Snack Bar was very clean. Great start. Tee time was slightly behind (always expected). Beverage cart was available. So is great until you get out there. It's understandable to have spotty fairways due to lack of rain. Inexcusable to not have the greens and aprons (are there even aprons on this course? goes from fairway to rough aprons to green.) cut. My back lawn is manicured better than these greens. Obviously, the owner isn't a golfer and is a businessperson as there are more cameras on the facility than people cutting grass. This course is the worst course I have ever been to. Weed growth like that in the bunkers lasts way longer than a few months; you can't simply blame Covid 19. I felt robbed as it came out to $57 per person. I should have gotten a refund... there's sand in the tee box and barely any grass left. The course itself was well kept and fun to play. The pace of play would have been fine if the group in front of me wasn't fooling around. I am all for having fun while playing a game, but they were trying to hit the balls as if they were playing baseball, they were chucking balls at each other while driving and never picked them up, making finding my own ball afterwards more difficult, and I even ended up getting hit in the arm with a ball. I genuinely like playing at this course, hence the 4 stars, but I wish they had someone around to keep up the pace of play and making sure people are respecting the rules of golf. read more

Although I play most local courses in Brooklyn & Staten Island, I hadn't played LaTourette GC in about 4 years prior to having played it this past weekend. I was quickly reminded why. While the course conditions were fine, it amazes me that a course that makes so much money packing tee times in hasn't found the resources to pave their cart paths in forever. The cart paths resemble bombed out roads in war torn portions of the Middle East. Actually, that's an insult to the streets of the Middle East as they are clearly in better condition. Also, I take issue with no course Ambassador driving around on a weekend morning checking on the pace of play, especially while I sit there and watch the group of 'frat bros' ahead of me toss golf club after golf club down the fairway after each poor shot, carrying themselves like the animals they were. I cannot believe this was my first time playing Latourette being a native Staten Islander. I must admit being a NJ golf course player my expectations for Latourette werent very high however I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to get a great deal with my friend who is a member of a lical golf club. $20 with a cart. Normal cost is approximately $50 The course has a great layout not incredibly long nor difficult. It is by all means a fair course, a handful of greens are guarded by slopes or sand. The greens were in excellent condition although I was not putting all that well. The course has a small pro shop and cafe. The driving range is large but you have to hit off mats. There is a nice putting and chipping green to warm up on. If there is one downside the carts are in pretty bad shape and the waits on some holes can be frustrating I will definitely play there again if invited. read more

The pro shop is a little rough around the edges and the club rentals aren't great but the course was enjoyable and in good shape for the most part. Wow, Im surprised Im first here, since I think Latourette is probably the best municipal GC in NYC. I played here in May 2010, so the good conditions might have been due to the early season. Anyway... LaTourette is not a very long course, but it has some nice hills and enjoyable terrain. I found the fairways to be very good condition. And the greens, especially considering this is an NYC public course, were smooth without any problematic patches. Its actually a pretty nice looking course, and the club house has everything you'd expect to find in a nice suburban public course. The price, especially for locals duh, is pretty hard to beat. Ok, now some downsides sort of. One - you have to drive to get to this course, (no subway access) in which case you may wonder why you shouldn't just get out of the city to somewhere nicer and less crowded. Two - Because of the nice conditions and enjoyable challenge, this course seems to get pretty crowded. You WILL get paired up if you're a twosome, and in general play will be pretty slow. Expect 5 hour rounds or more. Finally, and I cant stress this enough, if you are a beginner golfer, DO NOT START HERE. Not because its too hard but because the crowds will make it unpleasant for you and everyone else. You can expect 6 to 10 people watching you at the first tee, and the rest of the play is already slow enough. You wont enjoy it here with people breathing down your neck. If you want cheap public golf, and a drive under 35 mins, than LaTourette is the best quality course NYC has to offer. Expect crowds and slow play, but if your game for that, this is as good as it gets in the 5 boroughs. read more

As one of three public courses on staten island this is the best equip course by a long shot. the staff has a mix of experienced older gentlemen who know what they are doing and young millennials wherever you see have a phone in hand and start most sentences with "um". They have no signs for hours on the range or the café about operation but if they put some kind of indication about it that will be slightly helpful. As the only range on the island right now there is nothing to compare it to anymore. No wait depending on the weather and hours plus a great way to warm up before a round. While playing a round a friendly reminder the course also shares space a park and some holes are close to vehicular traffic. A cautious reminder that your ball might hit someone or something even if you hit a fade shot or pull it. There are ZERO rangers on the course to control the traffic and also ZERO cart service offering snacks and refreshments so make sure to pack away drinks and snacks if you get hungry (I always do regardless) The pro shop has a small selection of equipment ranging from 4 different types of balls and 2 different types of gloves for rright handed golfers. Sorry lefties if you need a glove ASAP Dick's sporting goods is your closest bet. I highly recommend to sign up for the players club for discounted round rates and free 2 buckets of ball for the range PER DAY. For forty bucks a month for 8 months if you go to the range at least 4 times and 2 rounds per month the club pays for itself ( La Tourette and South Shore Golf are the only courses on the island you get player cub rates) Overall on any kind of condition the course is playable with a hint of toughness that can make good golf happen. read more

Just terrible. I used to play La Tourette when I called Staten Island home. Back in the late 90s it cost about $35 with a cart. At that price, it was fine. Fairly interesting layout (the front nine at least) and in good enough shape for the price. I went back and played this past weekend for mostly nostalgia. When I heard about the price tag I figured they put in some improvements. Boy was I wrong. Back in the day, if you played in Spring, the course was in decent shape since the local hackers who drive their carts where they want and dont fix ball marks didnt have a chance to completely ruin the course yet. Not anymore. Its like they gave up. The course is in terrible condition. For almost $80 per player (including one from Staten Island) you would think they had some money for upkeep. This has to be the most poorly managed course I have ever played. The greens are horrendous. Like they have never been treated. Multi-colored and obviously diseased. One green was so damaged it shouldn't have been open. And it was obviously damaged by an employee as you can see the cut outs for when they change the pins in about 100 spots in circular lines. They switched front and back here this year and the back nine is actually the more interesting nine now. The tee boxes are mostly terrible. The sand traps are full of water. With the record rainfall we had last week this course's drainage just couldnt handle it and everywhere is soaked, not just low-lying areas. Elevated fairways were soaked. You would think there would be a cart path only rule to protect the course, or at least a 90 degree rule. Nope. We didnt see one ranger all day. Fairways were even overgrown to the point where middle of the fairway felt like short rough. There were player-made cart paths around almost every green (where players are NOT supposed to drive). There were no signs for "NO CARTS" that are normally 70 yards away from greens so every player basically drives right up to the green completely ruining the course. The sad part about LaTourette is that with proper management and some money for improvements, this could be a very good course. Improve the drainage, maintain the course better, add in some more traps. SOMETHING. Pretend to care about it. read more

Played here on a Saturday, 10:45 tee time. Not crowded but as with many NY muni courses, if you get stuck behind a group of hackers, or people that don't know how to keep pace of play, you're looking at a slow day. Sure enough we got stuck behind one and the round took almost 5:30 hours. But that's what you get. The starter told us that the earlier you get here, the quicker the pace of play. The course was actually nicer than i expected. The greens are slow but fairly consistent and at times interesting; the fairways are wide open but has nice slopes and elevation changes; tee boxes are in good shape and fairly even and well kept; i was surprised at some really nice, scenic holes on this course. Overall, the course isn't hard - not that many trees come in to play, and there are hardly any fairway bunkers (in fact i don't remember a single fairway bunker), and trouble near the greens are minimal so basically you shoot at the flag every time. It's a course you want to play on a nice day where you can swing hard off the tee and pepper the flag with your shorter clubs and you're don't mind the slow greens. It's also walkable but i recommend a pull cart. The course has a nice range with it's own little pitch area (near 1st hole), and there's a putting green near the clubhouse/18th. The range seems to have gotten new mats, which was a plus. Clubhouse and Food/Bar is well kept, with some outdoor eating overlooking the putting green. Parking lot can use some work (it's dirt and rocks and not outlined) and the road crossing to the 1st tee/10th tee requires some attention/alertness from traffic when crossing it. The course is bit out of the way, but at the same time, that allows for less people playing it - you basically need a car to get here as there's no mass transit access from the city. Overall, it's a nice course for what you pay you'll be happy with it if you can overlook the slow pace of play. I'm looking to play some other NYC courses and i'll update some comparisons later on. read more

The weekday rates are fantastic if you are a member of the players club. However the pace of play is not up to par. This is not the course to play a quick 9 or 18 holes. I'd have to say one of my favorite driving ranges compared to the South shore where one feels boxed in. The course is difficult and hilly but it really adds to the challenge. Probably one of the worst places I've had the chance of playing golf at. Staff was somewhat friendly, except for the person at the front desk that was booking our tee times. Incredibly rude and seemed like he was rushing us for some reason while we were trying to figure things out. The course itself is in horrible condition at a horrible location. An absurd amount of cars that are literally behind the tee box. There are people running and biking around the field because it is literally in the middle of a hiking trail. The course does not seemed to be managed well at all either, a lot of water in the sand traps and a lot of patches just all over the greens. And I can't understand how the etiquette passes around here. Golf is a respectful game for respectful people, not a bunch of hooligans just trying to hit the ball as hard as they can! I think overall, just the location and poor management of the grass is where this field's weakest points are. Looking forward to never coming back here ever again. read more

I love the course. However the people that work there including most all the staff are extremely unfriendly. In fact, they all seem like they would rather be ANYWHERE but at the golf course. Good conditions, great range... the staff has to go though. Why would you be unfriendly on a golf course? The driving range: Nice open area, but the mats are very, very worn and many are missing tees. I found it difficult hitting off the mats with bends and many wrinkles in them. The practice bunker looks like the course pro and his staff have forgotten that it is there because there is about two months worth of grass growing in it and the sand is lumped into knee-high mounds. And forget about the long-chipping area because it's a wreck! Thumbs down on the driving range for practice (especially when there's another driving range in Staten Island) but it's convenient if you want to warm up before you play. I will not return to this driving range. PS-there is a nice putting green and short chipping area near the clubhouse across the street from the range. The course: Terrain is nice and it is pretty but the greens have some rough areas. There is no doubt your round will be at least 5 hours. The only time I saw a marshall was at the first tee. I've tried to get in early morning rounds and I actually had to contend with people who walked onto the course from the street and were practicing on a few holes or walking their dogs on the course! Instruction: There is plenty of instruction here given by the course pro. There are plenty of deals to be had if you can deal with the pro's personality (he seems miserable every waking moment of the day - even when I've seen him outside of instruction). read more

My dad has been coming to this golf course for over 30+years. He has loved playing here from the start of his love for the game. He moved to Florida over 10 years ago and every Spring and Summer he visits us he goes back to his golf course. This year he is here with me since Memorial Day and he has been 3 times a week at the range. The lovely lady after seeing him come in the past few weeks suggested he join the monthly package that gives him 2 baskets a day for the month. He came home so excited that he could join and cancel when he goes back home that I told him please join on me. He signed up Friday got his 2 baskets Friday and played 1 free game and 1 coffee he got from signing up yesterday and to see the smile on his face when he came in from the 18th hole was priceless! I gave him for Father's Day Gift Card to play 4 games and coffee money. Daddy is at the range right now before we have Father's Day Dinner. He is enjoying his day doing what makes him so happy at LaTourette Golf Course a place that has always been special to him! The golf course is perfectly maintained. The staff is awesome and welcoming. You can enjoy your game you are not rushed. These are all Daddy's words about his time here when I ask him how was his time at LaTourette? He meets up with a lot of the same players from all these years and loves seeing them again! Thank you LaTourette for making my Dad's memories so special! read more

The players club is great and most of the staff are friendly and nice (minus one in particular). The course is usually in decent shape with a fun and moderately easy layout but stay away on weekends as it can get crowded. The grill room is nice and the practice area is a plus but you will not get a flat putt as it is all sloped some parts so bad the ball is not going to stay on the green. Overall it is a nice neighborhood municipal course but I fear it is only going to get more crowded. read more

Terrible management! Over the past 3 years, they've allowed The Players Club to destroy all quality play. Unless you have 7 hrs. to play 18 holes and the patience of a saint- do NOT book here. Greed has gotten the better of this club. They extended what should have been a promotional membership way too long. Tee times are ridiculously close together and even the range demands waiting in line for balls and spots. They're trying to function well over capacity and failing. The crowds themselves are inconsiderate of the fact that it's a public course (and not a gambling venue) and Rangers are often nowhere to be found. Front desk is unorganized and signing in and trying to get a cart has become a painful process- you're literally stressed out before you even start the 1st hole. No loyalty to long-time players at this club who are now choosing to play elsewhere... as should you. read more

It's a very decent course compared to other public courses in the NYC area. I found the conditions to be quite good: fairways and greens were all plush and the rough was reasonable too. I'll definitely play here again. Some specific comments on the course: 1- I like a course to have a driving range for warming up, which this course has, but the turf mats that you hit from are horrible. It was probably time to replace them years ago. Seriously. But other than that the range is fine. I recommend you cherry pick one of the few mats that are ok. 2- the putting and chipping green are so-so. Half of it has a really steep slope which makes it impossible to stop a ball anywhere near the holes, and there's nothing like that out on the course itself. The other half of the practice green is decent, but kinda small and needs more sunlight to be supple. 3- the tee boxes were pretty good and mostly level. A few were maybe a little parched, but otherwise ok and just need some TLC to be perfect. 4- the course plays very fair and most fairways are generous without severe undulations. Average golfers shouldn't have big problems, but some drives require a little precision otherwise your route to the green is blocked by trees. 5- can't comment on the bunkers as I was fortunate enough to avoid those. 6- pace of play wasn't too bad at 4.5hrs. Overall the value for the cost is average for NYC. Maybe slightly better. It's expensive to play at lots of places and I didn't feel ripped off here. I played this course this morning and just wanted to comment on a few things. This year they switched the front and back 9 and it definately speeds up the round. I played a 3:45 round with a foursome of friends. They course is in good shape and the greens are well kept. This is the third time I played here this year and everytime they have changed the tee boxes and pin placement making it a different challenge every time. I heard there was new management and so far they are doing a great job with changing things up. A very respectable and convenient course on Staten Island. read more
