Her service was five star! bar: I took advantage of their Old Fashioned Friday Happy Hour offering and thought the drink was just fine. Drinks took some time to arrive. appetizers: We started with the Deviled Bacon and Eggs ($9 as of 08/2025) and the Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta ($15 as of 08/2025). For the deviled eggs, the menu description includes candied bacon, which you can see in the photo were thumbnail-sized. More on Grand Street bacon to follow. For the tomatoes, one slice was the heel of a tomato and another was only half a slice? entrees: Switching to mains, I had the Seared Scallops and Shrimp, which is two medium-sized scallops and three shrimp over beans, rice, and corn ($33 as of 08/2025). Did not feel this was good value for the money. My wife ordered a burger, but initially received what appeared to be maybe the Grand Street Stack. Her Grand Street Stack arrived a few minutes after everyone else already had their entrees. Once we figured out she did not receive a burger, she had another long-ish wait while the kitchen made her a burger. Management politely removed the burger from our check. Perhaps of note, the menu describes the bacon as Double Thick Bacon; however, it appeared as regular bacon to us. details: Although the address is Renner Boulevard, the entrance does not face Renner. Beautiful restaurant with a large parking garage nearby. The staff was super friendly on a Friday night. It was pretty busy and seemed a bit understaffed though. Our food and checks took a very long time to get to us. We started with the bread service. Wasn't anything special, just pretty. My friend ordered the Chicken Piccata and it was very dry and hard to even cut through with a knife. I ordered the special 16oz ribeye and it was cooked right but there was no flavor. There was a very large group of us gathered for a corporate event. The restaurant is located in the busy highly developed Lenexa shopping district. Plenty of parking around the area including a garage. We were seated in a private room. The acoustics were very good, although our group can be quite loud once the Jordan wines and mixed drinks start flowing. We all shared a variety of appetizers including a tuna tartare (someone made the comment of getting fish over 1500 miles from an ocean). Of course, I know they ship the seafood fresh and frozen overnight quite frequently which is why I chose to order the cornmeal crusted trout. It was delicous topped with avocado and crab over easterling potatoes. Our service was very good for a group of over 15. I didn't have to pay the bill which made it even better. read more

This was my first time at the Lenexa location and it had a great ambiance with the industrial ceilings and contemporary decoration interior decoration. We came in on a Wednesday around 5pm for an early birthday dinner. The bar are was full and the dining area started filling up throughout the dinner. As soon as we sat down, our waitress was attentive and kind to explain the menu and daily specials. The highlight of the dinner for me was the in house honey mustard! We really enjoyed the grand burger and were satisfied with the prices for most of the menu items. I think this is a great spot to meet up for lunch with friends or happy hour! read more

The croutons were good but there were only about three of them and the salad was so salty I couldn't finish it. The chicken was overcooked. The crème brûlée was good. If I could give zero stars, I would. We live in Lenexa and come to Grand Street once a month as a minimum but this spot has gone down hill the past few times. Today we had an incredibly disappointing experience here. The salad came with cold, undercooked chicken -- which is not only unappetizing but a serious health risk. The Alfredo pasta was also served cold, as if it had been sitting out far too long. And to top it all off, the side of fruit had a stink bug in it. Absolutely disgusting. We brought everything to the managers attention, and all we received was $11 off the bill -- not even close to a reasonable response considering the multiple issues, especially the bug in the food. No real apology. No sense of urgency or accountability. Completely unacceptable on every level. We will NEVER be back. Eat here at your own risk. read more

It's been awhile since we've been into Grand Street, but my husband and I stopped in for an impromptu lunch date. It's a nice location. Open, airy, "grand" feeling. Great spot for a date or casual get together. The host today and our server were welcoming and professional. We started with the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare stack itself was good (and the most important part), but my husband and I both agreed the pool of soy(?) sauce it was in was too much. Would've been a better drizzle or even side dip. I also personally wasn't a fan of the sesame chips. I ordered the Bill's Chicken Salad which is always good imo. My husband ordered the GS Stack. He was under the impression it would be a sandwich, but as the name implies, it was sliced sirloin mushrooms and onions stacked on bread. It was still tasty though. He also got the pastrami and vegetable soup which he didn't care for. Also to note, it's not a coffee joint obviously, but my vanilla latte was great. read more

I seem to forget to leave reviews for the places I go to the most. I have been a semi-regular here for a couple years now, usually sitting at the bar. The two primary bartenders here are absolutely phenomenal with guests. The restaurant also features an extensive cocktail program, including some lesser known classics like a Sidecar. (They substitute the primary spirit but you can have it made the traditional way.) They have some fantastic appetizers, such as bread service, and pimento cheese dip with chips drizzled with hot sauce. Their filet mignon is perfect. I do occasionally get an overcooked steak, but they always correct it. They also feature some amazing specials, usually featuring a fresh catch. I have had the best scallops dish here. The only downside to these specials is that they are typically featured once never to be seen again, but that is because they stay on top of changing things up. The one funny but unfortunate thing is that in the construction of the building, there is a giant support beam right in the middle of the bartop blocking what would otherwise be prime bar spots. They still allow seating there but it's not a great spot to dine. In any case, this place is awesome and folks should check it out. read more

First time ordering and eating from here. We ordered takeout on Monday afternoon around 2pm. The woman over the phone was very nice and thorough. We get nervous when getting takeout from nicer restaurants, because usually it's not that great. This place blew our socks off. We kept saying, "wow!" Everything was warm, and the texture and constancy it would be if you were dining in. The mushroom egg rolls were honestly one of the best things we've ever eaten. They were crispy, flavorful, and honestly just perfect! Loved the sauces they came with. Short rib tacos delicious. Generous amount of meat and salsa. Salmon filet was really good and great quality. Husband said pastrami sandwich was amazing. I also ordered a side of whipped potatoes that were surprising incredible! They were a much thinner texture, but were so creamy and buttery. The seasonal cheesecake, I believe it's some type of cherry or strawberry?, was a perfect way to top off the meal. It's a thinner, creamier texture cheesecake. There was a size difference in the pieces, but whatever. I probably say that since I gave my husband the smaller piece ha! Highly recommend for takeout!! I was here for a work dinner, meeting a new vendor who hosted. We waited longer than normal to order, waiting for others to arrive and she was NOT overly bugging about starting the eating process. I didn't have a cocktail but the rest of the table did and enjoyed them all. For appetizers, we got deviled eggs, salmon artichoke dip, and ahi. I devoured the eggs. Tasted like a little horseradish in them and they were goooood. Ahi was also good. I'm from Cali so the locals I was with said "their ahi is good. Well for KC that is haha" and it was actually good, regardless of location. Didn't dig the salmon dip. The texture and taste weren't there for me. But I'll add that since I was pregnant, my love of cooked salmon is gone. For dinner, I got the filet and my counterpart got the braised rib (we shared) and then each added a scallop. We had been teetering between all those and this got us to taste them all. The braised rib was wayyyy good. Def better than the filet. BUT THE SCALLOPPPPPPSSS mmmmmmmmmm. They were SOOOOOO good. We both agreed that if they have scallops on the menu, that should be what we ordered. If it isn't, the braise rib is the best choice. We also went for dessert... we got the brownie and the bar. i was in town for a couple weeks, and a friend of mine suggested this place; it was directly across the street from my hotel, and as there was a high indicator that day drinking would likely occur, i agreed to meet her. we were seated immediately, and given waters and menus. our server, johnny, was extremely attentive and wasn't even upset when my friend told him how cute he was. and this was even before we ordered a bottle of wine. stay with me here, four other people joined us, so it wasn't like two people were sloshing through the bottle by themselves. we do not need to mention the second bottle we ordered at this time... my gosh, the sandwiches are HUGE. my niece ordered a turkey sandwich. warning - do not order this sandwich unless you have a really big appetite, are pregnant, or just like eating. i really dislike turkey, but i had to admire the presentation. there was also a salad with grilled chicken, and something with noodles, i wasn't sure. i didn't listen to what everyone ordered, as i was having a quiet conversation with my lovely pinot grigio. i ordered prime rib tacos - very yummy, and our waiter had the chef whip up an extra hot sauce for me. sadly, it was not very spicy, but i did appreciate the the chef putting forth the extra effort to supply me with a mouth burn. the portions were large and served at the correct temperature, drinks were filled. some smart ass ordered a dessert that looked quite beautiful. but since i do not like desserts, i just took an epic picture of it instead. you're welcome. there are private rooms available, there is a bar area downstairs from the main dining area. customer flow is unimpeded, waiters and waitresses navigate their stations very smoothly. everyone in this restaurant was professional and polite. and even as i write this, i can't believe i said that. all my past reviews have had a high level of snark and derision. have i gone soft? has grand street cafe actually made me happy? *here's my follow up, even though this hasn't posted yet. i came back here three more times in my two week stay - one of the waitresses recognized me from earlier, and greeted me. i wasn't sure if she actually remembered me, or if it was true that we all look alike. as i didn't know her well enough to make her feel uncomfortable at that self made racist remark, i just laughed to myself, which probably alarmed her more then said unspoken comment. read more

The service was great at this restaurant. We'd never been here before but decided to try a new place for an evening out. The atmosphere was light hearted and enjoyable with an upscale atmosphere and nice decor. We were promptly seated in a nice spot near the bar. It was d comfortable spot but was quite warm due to the sunlight. The food was prepared in a way that showed the chefs value their craft. However, I should mention that the steak and the ranch on our salads seemed much saltier than we would have expected. The oversalting was the only negative thing I could mention about the quality of our food. read more

I have been a patron of Grand Street for many years. The food and cocktails have always exceeded my expectations. I am fortunate to live close by so I may go often. My family participated in the Mother's Day Brunch today. The service and food were wonderful as usual. I would normally leave a 5 star review if it wasn't for an unpleasant experience receiving the tab. I looked down and saw an automatic gratuity included in our total. Even though I have gone often, it had been a while since my last visit. I was not aware of this practice. If I had known I would not have patronized the business. I am generous tipper. As a matter of fact after calculating the total, I would have paid $10.00 more for a tip than what was automatically added. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I am sure many people feel the same way. It is tacky to automatically add a gratuity for small parties. It is expected to have gratuity added for larger parties. There were three of us. The message this sends, is that, our employee's want to be paid more but I expect the customer to pay my employee's wage. If you want your employees to get paid more, then increase the prices and increase your hourly wage. I am not responsible for your employee's wages. Unfortunately I do not feel comfortable returning until this policy no longer exists. I am so disappointed in Grand Street practicing this tacky policy. read more

My go to spot!! This place has such a wonderful atmosphere and is so special to go to. The food is always amazing and well worth the price. Every meal I have I think to myself I could never make this at home and would strongly recommend the Capellini with chicken as this has quickly become my favorite pasta.
