Came here because some coworkers who graduated from UMKC recommended it for its dirt cheap food and alcohol. And she was right, it is indeed dirt cheap! I had a good brunch at Brick House. I really liked the ambiance of the place. It was very busy on the Sunday morning I went. We arrived around 11a. Our large group was seated on the third floor. The service was friendly, but a little slow. A few in my party got the bottomless mimosas, but given the infrequent visits back to our table, there were some regrets about paying $14 for two mimosas. I thought the food itself was really good. I had the Brickhouse, which is just what I needed that morning. Bacon, egg, gravy, biscuit, and fried chicken. We went to Brick House for a large party of 10 for brunch. We were seated outside and the weather was nice. Our waiter was super nice and patient. He was attentive to our drinks and constantly refilled our bottomless mimosa. I got the jalapeño bloody mary and it was so yummy! It was the right amount of spice and after 2 drinks, it got me feeling great! I also got the potatoes and it was a decent portion. It was loaded with eggs, tomatoes, and cheese. I have been coming to BrickHouse for years and, while it seems that they have begun hiring more sober staff recently, the way management handles conflict caused by their staff is unbelievable. My friends and I brought my sister here for dinner before she begins chemotherapy, hoping for a positive and supportive evening. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting. Our waitress (Brooke) became increasingly rude toward the end of the visit--she ignored a water refill request, added an extra item to our bill, and reacted with hostility when we questioned the charge. After we paid, she returned to our table, yelled at us about the tip amount, which she was missing a ticket, and our tips were above 20% of the total, she cursed at us, and stormed off in tears. She also mentioned she was exhausted from working two jobs and had already worked 17 hours that day, which may explain her behavior but certainly doesn't excuse it. When we asked another staff member (Derrick) for a manager, we were told none would be available until Wednesday, this was Thursday. Instead of receiving support, we were unexpectedly asked to leave by security, without explanation. No one intervened to de-escalate the situation, which made us feel as if the inappropriate behavior from staff was being tolerated. To make matters worse, I reached out to management via email twice afterward and never received a response. What should have been a meaningful night for my sister turned into a traumatic experience. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue so no other guests have to go through something similar. read more

I came in here for a trivia night on a Tuesday. There weren't very many people dining or drinking until around the time trivia started. We easily got a table for 6 people. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. It took a little bit for my mixed drink to and for some of the groups' beers come out. Thankfully, it was still happy hour until 7, so it's $4.00 wells and $5 chips & queso. There are other food and drink specials. There are several starters which can be made vegetarian--quesadilla, nachos, probably some of the "loaded" fries as well--although they have bacon as a main ingredient. For entrees, vegetarian items include a house-made black bean veggie patty or an Impossible burger and, of course, salads. I'm not a huge fan of black bean patties (probably because they were the only veg item on most menus for a couple decades), so I got an Impossible burger. I will describe my burger as adequate. Not bad, not great, just a normal veggie burger. For my side, I got coleslaw which looked like it came out of a bag that was near or past its expiration date. The sauce was almost non-existent. My wife got tots as her side, which were extremely salty, so we didn't finish them. Nobody was overly impressed with their food. It's just "meh" bar food at best. The trivia component was fun (it's Geeks Who Drink for those who are familiar). I would probably come back here for trivia or a quick drink during happy hour, but I won't be dining here again since even the sides were greasy. I once enjoyed the salads from this place but recently a group of co-workers and myself decided to do a take out order. When my salad arrived I noticed immediately that the mixed greens were wilted. I have made numerous attempts to notify the managers but all attempts were unsuccessful. I spoke to a lady today (08/20/2025) who placed me on hold for a long period of time, then the call disconnected. I called back twice only to get an outgoing voicemail stating that they are not accepting calls and the voicemail have not been set up. We sat out back, and we loved our waitress Ashton but they seemed short staffed. We waited to be seated for about 15 min without anyone acknowledging us. It's a pretty small place and gets really packed. So If you are on a time crunch wouldn't recommend this place. But if you have a couple hours to pass then this place is totally worth it! Absolutely love this place, definitely one of my regular spots! Brick House hosts the Geeks Who Drink trivia every Tuesday night, and I'm a big fan. It starts at 7, right as happy hour ends, so I highly recommend coming a few minutes early as their happy hour is the best. They have taco Tuesdays with 4 dollar shots of Espolón, which I love since it's my go-to tequila at a great price. Unfortunately, twice I have ordered Espolón while sitting outside and they have brought me a pretty nasty well tequila. I didn't say anything but it was definitely noted. They weren't out because when I ordered from the bar on the same day, I got the real deal, but what they brought me outside was a pretty nasty well. Just a touch shady.
