This theater needs renovating or at least update the broken recliners. They are gross. Come on now as much as we pay this is ridiculous.

Arrived for 12 noon movie Jurassic Park Dominion. Its the opening day ! None of the Kiosks work to check in for our online purchase. There was just one person working the checkout window in front and the line was to the parking lot. The credit card and debit machine was off line so you had to have cash for all purchases and there is no ATM nearby. The concession stand had only one employee and the line was ridiculous. We had to leave theater to go to ATM at bank nearby so we could get oor popcorn and drinks. The bathrooms were nothing less than disgustingly filthy no toilet paper or soap in dispenser. It was a horrible experience kids were so upset not to get refreshments and the popcorn. How could it be so terribly managed ?? Hattiesburg is a town with college and decent population. It was inexcusable and ruined our movie day. Not to mention our show tickets cost almost $75.00 plus Concession after went out to ATM ? We missed the first 10 minutes of the movie ot was so disappointing and spent 140 dollars . read more

My go to theatre when I'm at home visiting. They have upgraded it and it is even nicer than before. The recliner seats are very comfortable and the theatres are always clean. Took my nephew to see the new Spider man. If you are ever in Hattiesburg go watch your movies here! read more

Beautiful theatre . The seats are super comfy , but the parking gets PACKED by 7. My husband and I saw Avatar 2 in 3D and we drive an 18 wheeler so needless to say when we got out at 8 it was difficult to leave but was worth it . read more

NEVER COMING BACK the reclining seats were destroyed and gross. Me and my family went to go see a UFC fight and it would not COME ON the people next to us went to go tell the SHORT HAND staff that it was not showing and they said there was nothing that they could do and that they were short on staff. Which we could all ready tell because my daughter wanted a small icy and the line was almost to the door because only one person was working. Me and my family went to go see a movie before the UFC fight and the movie did not turn on and it was a black screen and we got a refund. Also one time my daughter went on a field trip and the movie did not show then ether. Needless to say we did not get a refund for the UFC fight and we will NEVER NEVER BE COMEING BACK. The theater I was in was frankly underwhelming to say the least. I could hear a rumbling from an unknown source (AC units?) practically the entire movie. All of the sound comes from the front or the screen instead surround which honestly should be the standard for all of these things. Felt cheap in general. We LOVE The Grand!! Best theater in Hattiesburg!! Me & my sister went to see MADEA FAMILY FUNERAL tonight with our 3 boys. We ordered our tickets beforehand but we didn't specify our seats. So, when we got there our seats weren't together. So, the Manager Jermaine fixed everything! He was SOOOO SWEET, NICE, HELPFUL & PROFESSIONAL. Our family has always liked going to The Grand but after tonight We LOVE going to The Grand!! All the employees were great! These days that means ALOT!! read more

I can confidently say that this is the absolute worst movie theater in all of the world. So me and fam just tryna cop some r rated ticks bc she 17. Good movie theatre, good seating, and great folks that work there. I really like the addition of food and it now has a "bar" to order some adult beverages! My family and I have never had any issues for any movie we've come to see. I did remove one star because like some of the other reviews, it does seem as though their screens are darker. I asked via email earlier this week if the Fathom Events presentation of Hamlet would be showing in The Grand theatres on October 15th. I received no response, and saw no show times on The Grand in Hattiesburg's website. I drove to Gulfport last night from Hattiesburg to watch the special presentation of Hamlet at Cinemark in Gulfport. The theatre was full, and I felt safe there because there was a security guard in a vehicle in the parking lot. I was told by a manager at The Grand Theatre in Hattiesburg that they only have security guards on weekends, which is worrisome for me as a customer because of the shooting at their franchise this summer. Is a full time security guard for the entire week not worth the investment to them to make patrons feel safe? If the security guards were paid $15 an hour, that's two bags of popcorn's worth of profits, and a worthy investment. The Grand's bathrooms are rarely clean, and I usually have to check several stalls before I can find one fit to use. I've gotten stale popcorn there on multiple occasions. During a special presentation of Frankenstein last year, the presentation was delayed for an entire hour, and the staff awkwardly showed the first five minutes of the production with no sound, which took away from the experience for me. I wasn't given a refund when I asked for one after the production. The staff rewound the video in front of us and bumbled through a dvr-like screen projected for the theatre to see for over twenty minutes, but didn't start the production from the beginning with sound. My husband and I come here often, sometimes alone and sometimes with friends. Up until tonight I've considered this just an average theatre. Better than Turtle Creek, but still just average. Tonight my husband and I went to see the 7:15 showing of It: Chapter 2, which runs 2 hours and 49 minutes. Not quite halfway through the movie, the fire alarm lights start flashing. No sound, just blindingly bright light. We tried to stick it out, but since we were on row E all the way at the top, the lights were right in our eyes, and my husband started to get a headache. I'm surprised I didn't get a migraine. Who wants to watch a horror movie with bright lights flashing anyway? We decided to leave, and on the way out we ran into an employee who took us to talk to Joann, the manager. We explained our situation and asked if there was any way we could receive at least a partial refund. The Grand did a lot more than that for us. We received 2 free passes to replace our tickets, and 2 more for the concessions we bought. The total for our tickets was $19.63 since we are both students, and my husband paid $15 with points he had accumulated on his rewards account. They gave us back the full $19.63 on our card, as well as an extra pass to make up for my husband's lost points. They definitely handled this with grace and composure and impressed us tonight. Attended opening weekend of Star Wars: The Last Jedi here with a large group of friends and family. After months of waiting, the theater still does not have a working scanner, so even if you print your tickets from The Grand's own website, you can not use them. You are forced to go wait in line to get your tickets printed there at the theater. Halfway through the movie, the controls on the seats stopped working so all the reclining seats were stuck in whatever position they happened to be in. We had to force them halfway shut after the movie just to get out of the aisle. Is it so hard to get a working scanner so people can use Print at Home tickets that your franchise is supposed to support? read more

I have been going to this movie theater since I was a young child. I was very excited to see that there was a "Lobby Bar" now; however, the service was awful. They made it seem like it was such an inconvenience to serve wine or beer that it was almost so uncomfortable and awkward I wanted to walk away. When The Grand was new it was AMAZING - we had never had the stadium seating here before so was great and still is that you aren't blocked by the lady with big hair in front of you. Now it is 8 years old and could use some updates. Some of the seats are not as comfortable as they once were - some wear and tear here and there. When there are big crowds the bathrooms are not always kept up as they should be and not all of the stall doors have working locks. Overall it is still a very good place to go to a movie. The only thing I really have a complaint about are the lines to buy tickets, the ticket kiosks don't always work, and when you have purchased your tickets online and the kiosks are broken you still end up standing in the line that you were trying to avoid in the first place. read more

Average theatre. Being that there is only one theatre in Hattiesburg my advice get there early for any movie. Their bathrooms are not kept up, all of the toilets were filled and dirty due to what looked like plumbing issues, so none of them flushed. And only one air dryer was working which is horrible when you have a bathroom full so the floor was drenched from the sink to the door. read more

Saw the last Hunger games here. Everything was OK except for one thing. Unfortunately it's the most important, the projection. I don't know if they're saving money by turning it down or the bulb was just bad but the screen was dim throughout. At first I thought it was the setting in the film but no, daylight scenes proved just as dingy. If you want to see movies as they were intended, you probably want to avoid this theater. read more

I used to love coming to this theater and still do come from time to time, but now that it has the reclining seats they are very uncomfortable for me and my wife. The footrests don't come up high enough feels like you are always sliding down toward the foot. Makes your back hurt before the movie is over. read more

To go to this theatre, you need to show up at least 45 minutes early or you will not be able to get s eats. It is very pricey for their food and drinks, as well. Tickets cost almost ten dollars a piece. The last movie I went to watch was on January 1, 2016 and it was a 6:45 movie showing. There wasn't a ton of people there because most people were still visting for the holidays, but there was popcorn all over the floor near the concession area and the candy machines. It's disappointing to see the concession workers lounging up against the walls chatting when someone could be cleaning the floors up. read more

The new stadium style seating is nice, though not as roomy as what they have at the Turtle Creek Mall theater. The bathrooms are starting to show wear after all these years and should be next in line to get a makeover since they've added the reclining seating and have -improved the lobby?- by doing away with the deluxe snack bar to turn it into a home away from home for drunk slobbering winos. So nice to have to walk through a bunch of leering drunks as you exit the theatre. Why provide a place for those who want an adult beverage to hang out? Why not just sell the alcoholic beverages in a line, as is done with the snacks and soda, then let them buy their next one from the guy who wanders through the screening rooms during the previews offering wine and beers? With your prices...most who want a buzz before their film are still walking to the Mexican place across the parking lot for margaritas before the show. It feels less and less like a family environment at the grande these days. All that said, there are plenty of friendly staff members seen throughout the theater, so you never really feel unsafe while inside. There is very little if any sneaks going in and out of screening rooms, disrupting the movie, as happens often at Turtle Creek, which must be due to the attentive well staffed environment at the Grande. I hate that you have such a low rating these days, having read through them many of these I would say are undeserved, and I do hate lowering my own from a 5 to a 3, but it is what it is. read more

Went to purchase tickets and the clerk helping me gave me tickets for the wrong movie time, when I told him that I wanted tickets WITH THE PROPER TIME ON THEM, he became angry and had no clue how to solve the problem. The manager came over and solved the problem with no hesitation. It would be helpful if management at this theatre would hire employees that know how to tell time, I learned how to tell time in the first grade, there is a difference in a movie starting at 5:00 and a movie starting at 7:00. Also, when a person makes an honest mistake when selling a patron a ticket, then the clerk making the mistake should do the right thing and apologize to the purchaser and then correct the mistake, in this case the clerk got angry and tried to force me to take the wrong ticket with the wrong time on it. People of integrity do not behave like this. It is my belief that the management of this theatre would be better off to hire employees who can tell time, have appropriate social skills, appropriate communication skills and perhaps some anger management training would help the employee in question here. If the employee cannot handle the terribly difficult job of selling tickets to the public, then perhaps that employee could possibly be reassigned to work more suitable for him like waste management or he could be relieved of his responsibilities at the grande theatre and seek employment at the local waste management company. These companies are always seeking qualified individuals to hire, he doesn't even have to shoulder the burden of accurately telling time while he is on the job, all he has to do is load the waste in the back of the truck, get on the truck, ride the truck for a while, get off the truck when it stops again, load more waste on the truck and then repeat the process for 8 hours. This way, he doesn't have to interact with normal, high functioning people who have good intelligence. It is sad that consumers have to go to the grande theatre in Hattiesburg and deal with low functioning individuals who cannot tell time, have poor social and communication skills and speak poor english. Hopefully this email despite the sarcasm, will find its way to someone in management who will replace this poor excuse for an employee and put someone high functioning in his place. I purchased my tickets saturday afternoon 3-9-13 around 1:30pm. The employee in question was african american, tall, wearing a red shirt and had no clue what he was doing. I am grateful the manager came over and made him go do something else while the manager corrected the clerks problem. Hope no one else has to deal with this guy as he is bad for business and should be reassigned to a task more suitable for his gifts and talents...whatever those may be. read more
