Neil Wu of Grand Tile and Cabinet did an incredible job designing and ordering the kitchen and laundry room cabinetry for our home remodel. Figuring out cabinetry in a home remodel can be an overwhelming task, but Neil guided us through the process every step of the way until we arrived at a design that was both stylish and functional. Neil has an excellent sense of aesthetics and recommended excellent features for the semi-custom cabinetry and kitchen island so the final results looked very custom. The glass doors, open shelves, wine rack, rotating "kidney" shelf, interior drawers, and peg board drawer organizer were all very attractive, functional and maximized storage. Neil also provided excellent advice on the sourcing of the quartzite countertops and flooring for the remodel. When the cabinets arrived early, Neil even arranged for storage until the contractors were ready to install them. The cabinets were high quality for the price (great value) and the company immediately sent replacements for any items that were damaged. Highly recommended! read more

This review is from almost 2 years ago. I thought it posted but didn't. So here you go. The look of our cabinets look nice, however, for the money we spent I wish we had done custom. Neil is a great sales man. However, when it came to a mistake on measurements with our microwave box, instead of owning his mistake, he tried to blame it on me. We have a 24inch new microwave. Our existing is 17inch. Now where would we have agreed to 12inch. Regardless we paid the extra to get this kitchen done.The cabinets hit each other. For the glass cabinets the clips were not provided. Do to our time constraints we went with this company, but even with that there was a delay. If you're going to pay this much, you might as well go custom. read more

Remodeled our home a couple years ago and decided to install cabinets from here, mostly because of the "lifetime guarantee" that the owner of the store advertised. I wish we hadn't chosen them. The paints started to chip, and the panels on some of them warped. We reached out to have them replaced given the lifetime guarantee and was told the warping was a result of water, the sink is nowhere near it, so there is no water source where the warping occurred. They did send replacements for 2 doors, however each time they sent the wrong dimensions even though I gave them the correct measurements. After the 3rd time of sending doors that don't fit, I gave up trying from the sheer incompetence and frustration. read more

As soon as they had the deposit in hand everything went completely down hill. What followed was an incredibly frustrating experience, riddled with poor communication, delays, missing pieces, and a total disregard for the customer experience. Here are the lowlights of our experience: 1. We told Neil from the start our firm max budget, which he said he could make happen. Yet he came back with a much higher estimate anyways. We then made compromises to our design, stripping out some of the pieces and downsizing to get the cost down, yet it didn't matter in terms of the estimate (things weren't adding up). He knew from the start our max budget and tried to squeeze more out of us. 2. When we came in to meet Neil to finalize the plan and give him the deposit he never showed up at the scheduled time. Instead his partner took our check, and wasn't able to answer any of our final questions about the plan. 3. Neil promised us the order for the cabinets would be placed the day that we brought in the deposit. Yet a week later, when we checked in, he asked us to confirm the color we wanted. We asked if that meant he never submitted the order and he ignored our question. We then asked the manufacturer and they wouldn't answer. We asked Neil again and he ignored our emails and calls. 4. The latest date Neil promised us that the cabinets would arrive was not hit. The estimates kept going up and up. When we asked him why and what could be done he would just forward us obscure emails from the manufacturer. 5. At one point Neil added a random person, with a personal email address, to our email thread, that we had never heard of and he never introduced. Shortly after this unknown person started to ask for the other half of their payment. I had to remind them that the deal was to submit final payment when the cabinets arrived. I still don't know who this person was. 6. Because of the ever increasing delays we asked if we could be notified when the cabinets were shipped, so that we could notify our contractor and be ready to be out of the house. At first Neil and the manufacturer said no, but then Neil agreed we would be notified. Guess what...no one notified us when they shipped. We were only contacted when they arrived. 7. Neil promised us that he would be on site when the cabinets arrived so that he would personally inspect them. He never showed up nor did he notify us as such. 8. When the cabinets arrived our contractor immediately noticed that Neil did not order enough filler to cover the plans Neil had created (only a third of the amount needed was ordered). We informed Neil and he said he would order more, and to wait 1 to 1.5 weeks. We explained every extra day costs us money as we have to stay in a rental, to which he expressed zero sympathy. 9. Neil agreed to rush the filler. Instead it still took 1.5 weeks (the maximum of the "standard" estimate). 10. Neil surprised us with an invoice for the filler. Mind you, this is the filler that he neglected to include that was necessary to complete the spec he drew. And he never once said anything about wanting to charge us for what is his own mistake. It was insulting to first hear about this charge when an invoice was sent to my email. 11. At no point in time did Neil take ownership for the delays, mistakes, and incredibly poor communication. He never apologized for anything. He never proactively communicated with us except when he wanted money. He constantly deflected responsibility and used phrases like "I assure you" to promise delivery dates that ended up not being fulfilled. The amount of stress we incurred during this experience is incredible. read more

We ordered beautiful cabinets from Grand Tile. Neil also helped us with the countertop order. We had several revisions to the design and he was happy to modify as requested before the orders were placed. We also decided to hire a cabinet installer and countertop installer through Grand Tile so the process would be smoother. The countertop fabrication and installation was very good. Our kitchen turned out beautiful despite the cabinet installation delays. Some of the scheduling issues were valid due to installer's situation. However, other missed schedules from the installer could have been avoided and it was hard for me or Neil to track the installer down to confirm that he would show up. Our visits to the showroom were memorable for all the right reasons: we felt like Neil was very knowledgeable, direct, no high-pressure sales tactics, and helpful. He was terrific about follow-up, and sending us home with product samples and catalogs to help us in the decision-making process, and his onsite visit to our home for measurements was timely, respectful, and again - full of his hilarious wit. The quote was even quite fair, all things considered (covid-era supply / labor shortages). I have been working with Neil on a kitchen remodel project. Neil has been extremely helpful and is very easy to work with. I highly recommend him. He has so far helped us with contractor referrals. We have not placed an order with Neil yet as we are still finalizing on a contractor. I wish I had found him when I was ordering my bathroom vanities too. The only recommendation I have is that you have a kitchen design with exact measurements ready. Although Neil was willing and visited my home, the measurements were not taken properly. This is the reason I am still waiting to confirm a contractor and designer before I order the cabinets. First, we have checked out many different cabinet providers, and Neil from Grand Tile was probably the only one that was consistent with communicating with us. We've had other business straight up ignore us even after we followed up with them. Second, we absolutely appreciate the quality of the cabinets that we paid for, not cheap, not overpriced, but quality at a fair price...easily saved significant money from other bougie cabinet places (namely from SF). I just had an awesome experience with Neil at Grand Tile. After getting quotes from SEVEN cabinet & countertop stores, I came to the realization that there are two camps of cabinets (good quality & cheaper not-so-good-quality) and that the prices within the two camps are pretty similar. Neil's cabinets are at a very competitive price within the good-quality camp. The cabinets are beautiful and feel very well made. I decided to go with Neil among similar options because it was clear how committed he was to producing an awesome product. Whereas most stores took my architect's drawings and gave me estimates just as I asked, Neil took the drawings, peppered me with questions, and gave me a lot of advice and options to consider. We sat down at his computer and I could see my kitchen evolve in front of me as we optimized every drawer and door, while staying creatively price-conscious along the way. Neil went above and beyond by meeting me at my home during the remodel to communicate directly with my general contractor. Grand Tile did a great job on the initial sale of the Chinese Cherry Blossom marble we bought for our kitchen. When I come back to the store, after a few years, Neil was able to match the tile and sale us some replacement stock, with no problem. We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and have found Neil and Alan extremely helpful. First, it was nice that they actually came to our house to do the measurements themselves. I have friends who said that they had to do the measurements all by themselves and weren't sure if they were taking the correct ones. So this part of the uncertainty was removed. They also not only respond right away to our needs, they have also been very patient with all the changes that we have made during the process, and boy have we made so many changes. Neil has also been especially helpful in helping us price our slabs, backsplash and flooring as well as coming with us to the showrooms. We hired Neil to make our kitchen cabinets last summer and it was such a pleasure to work with him. We learned about this company thru Yelp. For the first time we went there just to check out the place, we've already loved Neil after we briefly spoke to him. Although the company didn't carry the products I was looking for, Neil introduced the Waypoint cabinet brand to me and compared it to the other mainstream brands. He was very honest and I didn't feel he was a pushy salesman, so my husband and I decided to hire him for our kitchen cabinets. Throughout the 2 months process, Neil made the whole thing very easy: he replied messages promptly (even on Sunday, Sorry Neil), he listened to my ideas, he made professional and respectful suggestions, he followed through the whole job in person. In addition, he also recommended companies to us for discounted titles, sinks and counter top! As far as the quality of the cabinets, they are sturdy, american made, at affordable prices and are shipped in 8 weeks. Note that if you are looking for those fancy cabinets on HGTV, you won't find it from this brand (it doesn't carry royal blue or cute mint color); but I have to say that Waypoint brand provides you timeless choices and I'm happy with my two-tone cabinets which are both elegant and practical. Anyone who wants to replace or even reFACE their cabinets must make a trip to Grand Tile. You might be shocked to find you can afford new cabinets on your budget. I started out with a plan to reface my kitchen thinking that was all I could afford, until one contractor told me it was cheaper to replace than reface. Aside from an IKEA kitchen I thought that was impossible. But it never hurts to get a quote. So I drove around town visiting the different showrooms, and "kicked a few tires", and decided I wanted Kraftmaid cabinets. The people at Granite Expo told me Kraftmaid was more expensive and that I should consider the cheaper line, but if I was going to replace with new, it better be good enough to last decades. A friend also recently remodeled with Kraftmaid and loved them. So the people at Kraftmaid.com sent me the names of the local dealers in my area including Grand Tile. After visiting them all, it was obvious Grand Tile was going to give me the best service and price. Even the Diamond Certified dealer gave me poor service. (somewhat friendly but slow to return emails and just didn't seem all that interested in my business.) Grand Tile had a less than impressive showroom which left me a little doubtful at first, but I quickly found that they more than made up for it in the AMAZING service, price and quality of cabinets that I ordered. If I could I'd give them more than 5 stars. (note: they are moving to a new location so hopefully they will have a better showroom.) Luckily, I had pored over the Kraftmaid catalog and website, and seen enough Kraftmaid cabinets at the big box stores that I knew which cabinet combinations I wanted. Because I went in with a good idea of what I wanted for my kitchen, Sharon, the owner/ designer at Grand Tile, was able to get on her Kraftmaid software, and with a few clicks, drags and drops, generate a sketch of my new kitchen. Along with that came a surprisingly low quote. Other places took over a week to get back to me with the same thing. The only other dealer who whipped up a rendition just as quickly was a young computer-savvy recent college grad at Sincere Hardware in Oakland Chinatown. While he was friendly he was just a hired hand with nothing more on his agenda than to crank out a quote and a few pretty pictures for me. At Grand Tile, I was working directly with the owner who could answer all my questions and was keen on making me a happy customer. (She also sells a few other cabinet lines). I got the sense right away that she was very experienced in the industry and knew the kitchen design business well. Best of all Sharon was able to work with my budget. After signing on with her, she was on top of my kitchen project every step of the way. She knew my kitchen dimensions inside and out, and on occasion has even called me while she was out driving because she had suddenly thought of a better solution for my kitchen's unique challenges. I also ended up using the contractor that Sharon recommended as well (Arthur To) who turned out to be another great find. He was also able to work with my budget, did an awesome job and got it all done in less than a month. I consider myself quite picky and very detail-oriented, and I was extremely satisfied with Arthur and his assistant. Occasionally I saw minor details that I wanted fixed, and he was polite and professional and always got it done right away. He's been in the business for decades and takes great pride in his craft. Sharon herself regularly checked in with me over the phone and at my home during the remodel. After the cabinets were installed we found two or three slight defects in the cabinets. Sharon came right out and had those parts ordered and replaced right away for free. You know you have found a great vendor when they continue to give great service after you've received the goods. Definitely true here! When we save up enough for a bathroom redo, we'll be giving Sharon a call. read more
