We've been to four bath and kitchen supply stores in the last couple of weeks. The selection here is very good with products from several makers. If they don't have it in the showroom they can find it in the on screen catalogues. What made The Plumbery stand out was the level of service, and knowledge of the products, we found with Vincent. He was patient, made good recommendations, and truly listened to our requests. All the staff are friendly too. read more

First Allison (who moved to the Rocklin store mid-way through) and then Lauren were very helpful during my project of rebuilding three San Francisco apartments. They were fine on ordering parts for me. The project got more difficult when I had to find an alternative shower arm and flange when a shower wall was just a little too thick to accommodate the originally specified Kohler shower arm and Kohler shower head. Lauren was able to find a hans grohe shower arm and flange that would work. Even though I only needed the flange from the hans grohe shower arm in the end, I give Lauren 5 stars for finding it. Lastly, Lauren and Plumbing N' Things were very accommodating in handling returns of parts which I did not need anymore for the project. They certainly did not have to accept these returns, but they did what they could for me, and I appreciated their efforts. read more

This is so unfortunate. They have the opportunity to provide world-class service and they don't. They're not very warm and welcoming. You need to make an appointment to order anything. Once your order is finally ready which takes about two months they call you to tell you your order is ready and then when you go to pick it up it takes about an hour to wait for them to find all the pieces to your order to give it to you. They are completely disorganized the warehouse and the sales room don't communicate and I hold the manager completely responsible because he is disorganized in setting up that business. I ordered $5000 worth of bath hardware and frankly they couldn't care less. Never again! read more

In fact the receptionist rudely told me unless I make an appointment they won't answer any questions. What a bunch of clowns. My family has been a long-time patron of this establishment. I drove from San Francisco to look for touchless bathroom fixtures (needed 10 minutes in the store). I didn't know one needed an appointment. Whoever was guarding the door told me I could not come in without an appointment even though there was no one in the store. He was incredibly nasty and told me he "didn't like my attitude and I needed to learn to following instructions." He said something else derogatory which I will write here A horrible person who doesn't understand what service is about. Clearly, here business must be booming I will never go in there again. read more

Before I review Plumbing N' Things... just a word of caution about purchasing Phylrich products. We purchased Phylrich faucets, shower, and bath fixtures from Plumbing N' Things and over the years we've had so many parts fail after the warranty expired. These fixtures are expensive and one would think they would last. Adding insult to injury, we recently had a Phylrich part fail and couldn't use a bath sink until I replaced it. It was supposed to arrive 1 week after I ordered it. 4 1/2 weeks later I finally got the part but that was after calling several times a week for 3 weeks and being told repeatedly that the part had shipped... when in fact it hadn't. My experience with Plumbing N'Things is mixed. They carry a great assortment of products and brands. The people are friendly and provide helpful answers about the products they carry. The guy in the parts department is a super star and really helped out over the years on all the parts failures. I sense that they are understaffed because of all the persistent calling I had to do to finally get Phylrich to ship a part nearly 4 weeks after I ordered it. I even resorted to leaving a message for the store manager to call, but never heard back. read more

Came in and saw the signs asking me to sign in, but there was no sign-in sheet in site, and all staff members were busy. So I stood there (there are no chairs for customers) holding my infant daughter for 10 minutes before someone moved one of many catalogs on the counter to expose the sign in sheet and someone who had just arrived signed in ahead of me. I signed in and waited an additional 15 minutes before I finally got to tired holding a fidgeting infant and left. They do have a good selection, but when you have to wait for over 25 minutes to speak to an employee and there's no place to sit down, that's an indication that they don't seem to value their customers' time. read more

We worked with Vincent on fixture selections for a full home remodel. I was impressed with his level of detail and his patient explanation of all the considerations involved with our selections. I had not realized the level of technical considerations that needed to go into the overall picture when selecting plumbing for an entire home. It's not as simple as "I like this faucet, this shower head, this tub", there is so much that needs to be determined to insure that what you see is working properly with all the plumbing work that you don't see. I appreciate all the detailed work that Vincent completed to insure that we have a well-planned set up for all the plumbing in our home. He really worked hard to earn our business. I have a high level of confidence that the whole plumbing plan is going to go smoothly with the level of effort that he's put into this. I was surprised at how long the entire process can take. My advice is that you start the process early, give yourself at least a month prior to the date that your contractor wants the fixtures to be selected and ready to order. The crew here will work with them to insure that items you selected are ordered in a timely manner to be on hand when your builder is ready to go. read more

I don't write a lot of reviews but my experience was so different from many of the comments I read that I wanted to write one. My friend and I dropped in without an appointment after visiting the tile shop next door. Even though we didn't have an appointment, Vincent spent quite a bit of time answering questions for us. I am sure if we were ready to order he would have take our order that day. A few weeks later I called and made an appointment with Vincent. I missed the original appointment time but he was super gracious when I came in later that day with a new appointment time. He was really knowledgeable about the brands and pros and cons of different faucets. He wrote up an order including additions parts I would need that I wasn't aware of. He called to get availability of every part they didn't have in stock. The prices were the same as if I had ordered on the internet but in addition I got over two hours of consultation and the opportunity to see touch faucets. They did ask me to use hand sanitizer when I came in which I appreciate because the benefit of going in person is to feel what the faucets. read more

To start, let me point out that this company is NOT the same company called 'Plumbing N Things' from years ago. My understanding is that it was bought out and has new owners and management now. My intention in this review is to make it CLEAR (like other reviewers) that while they may still have some designer reps like the one I worked with that are reasonably competent, the overriding problem lies with current management and their so-called system/process of communications via phone and/or e-mail. My frustrating experience had a lot to do with trying to communicate efficiently with my designer representative. I would send e-mails and sometimes wait for days to get a reply and when I would call, I would get routed to a "general answering service" that is managed and controlled by a receptionist who sits at the front desk when you walk in. Over time I learned that this person acts as a kind of "shield" for the sales/designer reps so you cannot call them directly and instead get the receptionist who also makes and manages in-person appointments. I experienced her not being there a number of times and when that happens you either wait until she returns or try and get through to a sales/designer rep to get in. I literally had to leave a message to get my rep to answer my e-mails with questions by asking the receptionist to tell my rep to please answer so I could make decisions and not waste so much time. I was actually told by the receptionist once that my rep is "not so good with e-mails" which is the most reliable way to communicate in a business like this where so many different products and specs are involved. Using just verbal communications is opening the door for misunderstandings and inaccurate information since so many model numbers and other specs are involved with most everything they sell. After a month of putting up with this, I went on-line and read the reviews here on YELP and immediately found a much more reliable and efficient company just down the road that does the same thing with the same manufacturers in half the time. In addition, my new sales/design rep pointed out a number of details about the same products that I was not made aware of with 'The Plumbery' and she controls her own schedule and appointments and realizes that e-mail is the best way to communicate responding to all I send within a few hours. Just sayin . . . Bottom line, save yourself some time and frustration and in many cases $ by avoiding this place and going to the competitor down the street. read more

I drove up and saw that you needed to call a number and make an appointment. I called the number from the parking lot in front of the store. I was told that I could come in and look around, but if I wanted to buy something I would need to make an appointment next week. I was ready to buy a kitchen faucet, bathroom faucet, towel bar and another bathroom faucet for my rental. Sorry they said, it wasn't possible. Most of the time I was there I was the only customer in the store. There were three sales persons sitting in front of their computers not helping anyone. Then, a contractor came in without an appointment and they jumped to serve him. I'm older and maybe I didn't look upscale enough for them to bother. Customer service nightmare. I walked into the showroom last week just minutes after getting word from my contractor that I needed to get going on ordering my bathroom fixtures for our major home remodel (1500 sq ft, 3 bathrooms, etc). I walked the showroom for approx 15 minutes with about $4000 dollars burning a hole in my pocket...and not a soul asked if I needed assistance. Came in here on a Friday night with my partner. We came from work, in separate cars, on a Friday night at 430pm. They close at 530pm. The showroom was empty, and there was about seven sales reps doing anything from chatting, sitting on their computers, to looking out the window. A few saw us both arrive in different cars, and well, any half-switched on sales person could put two and two together to consider: Young professional couple + arriving separately from work + it's a bathroom shop on a Friday night = may be an actual lead and not just someone looking to kill some time. My guess was that they didn't want to be the one 'stuck with a customer' on a Friday night. Anyway, I digress. We walked in, were told to write our name on the page to get a sales rep. (standard affair for these types of places) then walked around for 30 minutes without any word from their staff. My partner went to ask for help and found two people joking around. When asked, the guy said 'Um ok, yeah I can get you some help' then turned to his colleague laughing and palmed us off to her. The woman reluctantly got up and was completely disinterested in helping us. When we asked for configurations and product details, she said things like "Yeah you can have whatever you want." When we asked for pricing, we got stupid responses like 'they're hundreds. Maybe 300 - 600.' When we pushed for an exact price, she reluctantly retreated to her desk but not before throwing in 'well we close soon you know?' No s**t sherlock - why do you think we came here an hour before you close? To boot, the showroom was filthy, disorganized, and completely free of any product details which means you need to rely on their sub par staff to even get a loose gauge of a price or specs. From the road, this place looked impressive, but it went downhill fast after that. We took some photos of stuff we liked then went online to buy our stuff without the hassle or woeful service. Do yourself a favor - just move on. This place isn't worth the hassle. read more

Walked into the sales floor and they were busy due to the holidays. Can't fault them but within 15 mins I was able to get help. Met with a gentleman and he was very personable and directed me to the right faucet I was looking for. He understood and was able to answer all my questions without hesitation. I came in Monday and my part arrived a few days later, Wednesday. Picked up my item at the wherehouse behind the store and met two guys in the back. They were really professional and friendly too. Plumbing and Things is the place you want to shop. Customer service was excellent and I would recommend them to family and friends. I would definitely come back for future orders. These guys are terrific. Have an older home for which we are upgrading all plumbing. This is tricky because you have to match brands, sizes, and valves. Spent 2.5 hours (!) with Joey going over every detail, researching which brands we had based on photos and trying to match up shower hardware, sink hardware, tub hardware. At the end of it we had over 20 fixtures all figured out. They also give 30% off. Ours is a rush job so without Plumbing N Things we would have missed our schedule. Customer service here is the best you could ask for. read more

I had almost forgotten what good service was until I phoned Plumbing and Things looking for a part for my kitchen sink. I had been to Home Depot (waste of time) and OSH (nice but didn't have the item). Scott said he would check and call back. The next day I heard from Allison who had the part. I told her I no longer drive but would get someone to take me there Saturday she said she would send it to me at no additional cost. This is the way service was years ago. What a find! read more

Vincent at Plumbing N' Things helped me from day one and helped me find and purchase all of my fixtures for my master bathroom. There were two things that made my experience with Vincent worthy of 5 stars. First, I somehow got the wrong valve for my shower. It got it installed and needed to get it replaced. Vincent acknowledged the error and paid to replace it. Regardless of who made the error, it was refreshing to see someone take responsibility and not blame the customer. Next, over a year after I ordered and installed my tub filler, water started to leak. I talked to Vincent about it. He personally called the manufacturer and got them to resend the replacement part. This type of customer service is above and beyond the normal retail vendor experience. I would go back to Plumbing N' Things just for their customer service. read more

So on a recent bathroom remodel we ended up getting a vanity, sink, and fixtures from Plumbing N' Things. Given a choice; I'd love to be able to get all my stuff from Home Depot because well, I'm OK with Home Depot. Unfortunately for more selection and hands on help Plumbing n' Things seemed to be the place to go. From a customer service perspective in selection they are GREAT. I've love to highlight this if they really came through on the delivery; but as they didn't, using Plumbing n' Things cost us wasted time (i.e. wasted money). This is not cool. The back office systems really have no idea when items will arrive or not. In this day and age and frankly in Silicon Valley; this kind of shoddy information systems can only be punished one way. A good plumbing store with a very good showroom and knowledgeable staff. They specialize in kitchen and bath products with a huge range of sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, and fixtures. They carry all the major lines like Grohe, Kohler, Delta, Hans Grohe, and have tons on display and demo's as well. They even have shower systems set up (the full body ones with four - eight different jets). This isn't a place where you can get your run of the mill stuff like at Home Depot or Lowes. This is strictly for the Home Improvement/upgrade person in you or contractor. Their hours are pretty limited for the working professional, as they're just 8am-530pm M-F and they close at 3pm on Saturdays. The staff is knowledgeable and pretty helpful in letting you know what you need. For example, a lot of people think that all you need for a new shower is a spout, trim and head. however did you know that you may also need to buy a thermostatic valve? additional washers and valving too? They don't hide it here, they give you the breakdown and the overall costs with no sales pitch. It really is a no pressure information session which puts everyone at ease. Appointments are recommended! And if you do go there, you have to check out the 18" diameter rainfall shower head. have one of the people there demo it for you. It's a riot! read more

Great service! Joe Morrison helped us select the appropriate fixtures for our new bathroom and we are really happy with the outcome. It was surprising how long the selection took and Joe was very patient with our never ending questions, explaining all the options and why one fixture would work better over another. He was very knowledgeable about safety bars and helped us select safety bars that were also towel bars and shower fixtures that look beautiful. First time customer at Plumbing N Things. I ordered parts online from Kohler. Had issues/problems with online order from Kohler so I went into Plumbing N Things, Dayna was very helpful. Went out of her way to contact Kohler, even though I did not order from her store. After several minutes on the phone and figuring out that Kohler had shipped wrong parts. She was able to find and match as wewll as order the correct parts that I needed. For a first time customer in her store, SHE went well Above and Beyond. I had a recent unpleasant and baffling experience at Plumbing and Things. I got there on a Thursday at 4:30 and needed help picking out a fixture. There were 2 women at desks, it was obvious I was waiting to get some help, and I finally had to ask for help. When I did, one of them, Allison, begrudgingly got up and was obviously miffed at having to help me. We got on better footing, I ordered a set of fixtures on their display, and picked them up a few days later. When I opened up the box of the main fixture I was planning to install the next day, I noticed it was not the fixture that I had ordered. It had obvious differences; had cheap plastic on it, and was not even the same size as the one I assumed I had ordered. I brought it back the next day to let Allison know, and right away she became defensive and miffed, and the first thing she said was "Well, you had a limited time frame for the fixture right?!" There was no acknowledgement to the fact that she had ordered the wrong product, whether intentionally or mistakenly, was argumentative, and addressed it like it was my problem. She also informed me that my product was a 2 week special order, so I was unable to do the install as planned. Clearly this is someone who should not be working on the sales floor helping customers. They have a good display of fixtures, but if you want friendly customer service, go somewhere else! read more

This is my first Yelp review, motivated by my overall bad and frustrating experience here. I was referred to this store by the plumber after he determined that I needed to replace the faucet. My initial impression and experiences were good - Jeanne walked me around the showrooms and provided my several options. I ended up ordering one and was told that it would be ready for pick-up in 7-10 days. After 7 days, I called the store and was shocked to find that the order had not gone through with the supplier, though my payment had been processed. I was in a time crunch, with a trip coming up, but another sales rep Allison ensured me that I could get the faucet when I got back. It was frustrating and inconvenient to have an unusable sink, but I figured these things happen. When I got back from my trip - at this point, it's been nearly over a month since I first tried to replace my faucet using this store - I called again. STILL NO FAUCET. The supplier had not even started building it. While the sales reps were apologetic, there was no excuse for the lack of communication between them and with me. Both times, I was the one that had to initiate and check up on the order. I ended up canceling the order and getting a refund. I briefly considered applying the credit on a faucet from another supplier through the store, but looking back at the added stress of waiting and wasted time, I could not and will not use their services again. I hope that in the future, the store does a better job of communicating with their customers and suppliers. It is their job to ensure that orders are processed, confirmed, and delivered to the store. Based on a photo I emailed to her of the hole in my bathroom wall, she was kind enough to do significant research including calling Phyrich several times to help me identify the exact replacement for my (ancient) Phylrich diverter valve. Once she identified the part it turns out they had it in stock and I was able to pick it up immediately. She then recommended an excellent plumbing company to help me do the repair. I can't thank her enough and would definitely return for any replacement plumbing parts I might need. read more
