Dr. Mika Fu was superb at handling all my eye problems and will be my go to optometrist from now until forever or definitely as long as I live in San Marcos! Long story short I needed some prescription glasses because I have one bad eye and couldn't pass my driver's license eye test exam. My friend recommended Grand Vision Optometry because of their convenient location, which is in a shopping center. I made an appointment for a weekday afternoon and come the day of my appt I had my eye examined by the doc right away. She thoroughly examined my eye and educated me on my eye condition, telling me what I could do to strengthen my vision. I also got stylish frames on my face giving me awesome vision and super hero abilities. Suffice it to say I ACED my DMV vision test the second time around and have my license renewed. Love coming here! The girls at the front are some of the best front office staff around!! They all go above and beyond for every customer. Dr Fu is very thorough, listens to her patients, and never rushes through her time with you. I found GVO through my insurance. From the time I made my appointment to the time I picked up my frames today, I have nothing but great things to say about the staff! I went through the list of recommended offices and I took it upon myself to go on Yelp to see reviews. GVO not only had excellent reviews, but they had it great pictures. Granted, I should not base my first appointment on pictures alone...But I was quite impressed with how the office was decorated. On the day of my appointment, I walked in and I felt very zen. There was not a lot of commotion going on and the lighting and the coloring of the room put me at ease. I filled out the necessary paperwork and did the pre eye exam with Adrienne. And then I met Dr. Fu. She was very patient with me and understanding. I had trouble telling which lense/vision test was the best for me. She took her time to show me all of the lenses again which made me feel confident that I was not being rushed. After my exam I met Mandy, who was the biggest helper to me. She was such a doll about helping me pick out frames. I really relied on her to tell me if a pair looked good on me or not lol Afer we sorted through the Yes, the Maybe, and then No piles, she help me pick out these beautiful frames. Then we went down to business about what lenses I would need. I never felt pressured, I never felt like I was being up sold on anything and I never felt like I did not understand. It was a very pleasant experience. I ended up ordering a new frames with my new prescription lens along with new prescription lenses to replace the ones in my old pair. The bottom line was not as expensive as I thought it would. This morning, I went into the office to pick up my new frame and I would meet at the door by Austin who is very nice and courteous. He showed me my new frame and gave me a sincere compliment when I put them on. Worst place ever!!!!! If you need to see a dr don't even waste your time with these people. The lady in the front is sooo rude. Has no respect for customers what so ever. I personally had a bad experience, my friend went there and said the same exact things. The doctor won't even come out and talk to you. They don't care at all. I'm very disappointed. DO NOT GO here. Very unprofessional and combative staff and optometrist. I've been going here for years and like the other reviews were satisfied. That's because I bought my contacts and eyeglasses from them at highly marked up prices. The one time I go to buy my contacts elsewhere the Dr. and staff flipped on a switch. The Dr. writes the contact prescriptions without enough detail or description for other outside providers to fill them. When I requested the prescription be cleared up and more detailed for another low cost retailer to fill them, the receptionist refused and hung up on me. After calling again and requesting to speak to the Dr. she refused. Then the retailer called to speak with the Dr. to clear up the prescription and the receptionist claiming to be the Dr. cursed at her and hung up the phone. As patients we have rights, this Dr. and her staff are clearly unprofessional and do not respect the patient, unless you buy thier marked up designer frames, then they love you. Went in to get an updated prescription and new glasses, since it had been almost 2 years since my last check up. Had an appointment ready to go within a couple weeks(evening time). I'm glad they are able to accommodate appointments after 5 PM on weekdays. Came in and had my appointment, a new prescription and had chosen a new pair of glasses all under an hour! Yesterday, I came in to get fitted for glasses. As a professional performer, my schedule fluctuates weekly and I needed replacement glasses pronto. I was assured by employee David that I would be taken care of in a timely manner even though the store was busy when I came in. I left after 1 hour of detailed advice about my frames as they fit on my skeleton. David was efficient, personable, and most of all knowledgeable about the way glasses fit a face, and how to accommodate my price range and time frame. He went above and beyond to make sure my glasses were finished by store close that same day so I wouldn't have to drive home "blind". I came in for an exam and new glasses and ended up more than impressed! This was the first place I'd been to where my insurance covered the exam and that left me more than excited. I was intimidated by the higher price of some of the frames I liked but ended up going for it and the total price was one of the lowest I'd paid in the last few years. I ordered glasses nearly 6 weeks ago & Haven't Gotten a Consistently Straight Answer about my glasses after multiple calls. I too like some of the others had an issue with Adrienne. I had never met her or seen her, but had a bad experience over the phone with her BUT I know from working with Dr's that they like to know what goes on in the office. My husband expressed my concerns to another front desk girl who works there when he was in and the Dr. called me and apologized. I accepted that apology and seen her again today and the experience was wonderful. Dr's like to be able to right something that is wrong and I believe they should get the opportunity. I had some reservations going to a new optometrist, I found this business on the internet and you just never know what you're going to get. I was surprised by the look of the place, it had a high end feel to it. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and taken to begin my exam. That scored a point for me because I'm usually very busy and don't like to wait at Dr's offices. The young man who assisted me in the initial vision screening seemed smart and energetic. Next I was taken for my exam with Dr. Fu. She was warm and worked quickly to figure out my exact prescription. Next I went out to select some new glasses. Dr. Fu handed me off to Adrian who specializes in finding a good look for clients. I'm a guy that doesn't usually spend too much time worrying about the look so I appreciated the assistance. She immediately chose a pair Jhane Barnes. I was sceptical that she'd chosen the correct pair so I tried on 3 other pairs. All 3 pairs I chose were mediocre for my face. Adrian had chosen the right pair within 30 seconds of meeting me, she's just got a great eye for style. Fantastic customer service. A friendly male staff member greeted me upon arrival. I explained the repair needed on my sunglasses and he quickly took them in the back for repair and assured me that they would be done in just a few minutes. This office has a beautiful selection of high end sunglasses and eyeglasses. Just a few minutes and my sunglasses were repaired and free of charge. I walked in with no appointment to see if they could help me with my glasses. One nose pad had broken off at the stem after they had fallen out of my purse onto the dirt in front of my house. They had been rained on and neglected in the mud for a few weeks until I found them. These wonderful people took them in the back, replaced both nose pads, and polished the lenses up so they looked like new. I honestly wasn't sure if they would be wearable ever again. I took my daughter here to get her very first pair of glasses. My kid hates going to any kind of medical appt...she was nervous about the eye exam and getting drops in her eyes, etc...Dr. Fu and Adrienne were so great with her ! They were really patient and caring. They took their time and explained everything they were going to do before they did it to ease her anxiety. I really feel they went above and beyond to make her experience less fearful for her. She walked away from that appt with a HUGE smile on her face. I have a very bad experience with Grand Vision Optometry. My review is strictly with the process of ordering prescription eye glasses. I would like to be clear that this review is NOT about the Doctors or the medical staff. I went in with my prescription from my own optometrist and wanted to order a new pair of glasses from this place because of all the raving reviews. I ordered it on August 14, 2020 and today is September 23, 2020. I still do not have it. I called on week 5 to check on it and the office staff said it should be coming within a week.
