I came here last year for eye exam and been trying to get a new glasses ever since. The problem is they don't have many frame selections to choose from. I stopped by at least once a month in the past 6 months and still couldn't find one. I found one but not the color I wanted, I had to pay $20 for shipping and waited for 2-3 weeks. Tried it again and didn't like it. It was too loose and big for my face. After 6 months, I still didn't have glasses. Very disappointed and I won't come back to this place again. read more

Ok... I don't have eye insurance and I've needed new contacts for quite sometime. I called late on Friday to schedule an appointment for Saturday since I work long hours during the week. It seemed like they didn't have an opening... but, I was put on hold and she came back and said they could get me in at 1pm. I was shopping in the area and stopped in before noon to go ahead and fill out my paperwork. They actually called the 12pm person to see where they were (since when I turned in the paperwork it was after 12) They were going to put me in their slot if they were late. This center is great... because while waiting for 1pm... I went to Verizon and paid my phone bill, Marshalls an bought some tennis shoes then back to Grand Vision for my eye appointment. The optometrist was nice and realized that I hesitated on a few things because I don't currently have vision insurance and I was primarily JUST there to get new contacts. She did advise me that I could use some reading glasses... and try some special contacts. DAYUM it stinx to get old! She did show me the pictures of my eyes and showed explained them to me which was nice. My previous eye doctor would take the pics but, never showed them or explained them to me and I've gone to him for quite a few years. So without insurance my eye exam was $210.00. Which was in the range they quoted me. 180-240. She has me testing a pair of contacts and wants me to come back next week. read more

I have to say I am extremely impressed at how this office handled my husbands situation. They called right away and found a remedy for my husbands glasses. We were actually able to pickup his new glasses same day and they gave us a refund on a portion of the cost because of the mix ups. Dr. Iris (yes she has the perfect name for an optometrist) and all of her staff were fabulous. They were friendly from the moment I walked in. I felt listened to by each person I spoke with and felt they all genuinely enjoyed the work they were doing. I really love this office! Everyone working here is pleasant and makes you feel welcomed. I've worked with Jesska both times I've had appointments here and she's got a great personality and demeanor! She makes picking frames super easy (even though it's really hard to pick as they've got a great selection), and really helped me work with my budget. I was looking to get new prescription lenses in one of my favorite frameless sunglasses, and I happened to be at the Grand Plaza Mall off Las Posas Rd. in San Marcos and spotted the Grand Vision Optometry Office there - so I checked out some very good reviews on them and decided to see if they'd be able to make up new lenses for me. I was very happy to find out they could accommodate me, and very pleased with their service. The lady who helped me out was very knowledgeable and helpful. And they have lots of very good looking quality eyeglasses to choose from too if you're in the market for new frames. I ordered2 pairs of glasses me two weeks ago and one pair came in. No call or text or email letting me know. I had to call. The second pair was not in and they said they would check. I had to call again. I was supposed to get a callback yesterday. They said they called. Funny no message was left. I call again today and it won't be in until next week sometime. Everyone here is always super welcoming and accommodating. I love going here because of that! I always have a great experience here from phone calls, to eye exams, picking out glasses, and even getting glasses adjusted. They have a great selection of glasses. For anyone who doesn't know what they're doing, or is inexperienced with optometrists, stay away. Finally got a job with my own insurance! They're very nice, and prompt. They will take care of you. Then you'll suddenly find out that everything they did was a charge. Oh... That's not cheap. 2nd time going alone. I specifically state, I only want what's covered under my insurance. Fool me once! They ask a question about my contacts. They say try this one on. I get to the front...60$ charge. But I just said.... Seriously....? 3rd time, had warranty to fix my lenses from scratches. Get new lenses back in 40 minutes. Get home, realise both lenses are scratched. Right side right in front of the pupil. Drives me nuts. I keep thinking about these experiences and it bugs me. I just went to Grand Vision Optics for the first time since moving to San Marcos and I can honestly say I don't have a single negative thing to say. I have been going to an optometrist since I was 9 (I am 23) and learned more in the hour I was there than I ever have at any other optometrist. I want to be best friends with the staff. That probably sounds weird, but you know what, they were all so awesome that I don't even care about your judgment face. Sirena was the cutest assistant and without effort we talked through all the eye tests. Dr. Wong was super bubbly and friendly. I've always wondered how the farm eye test works (where the farm in the distance keeps going in and out of focus). She gladly explained it shoots light into your eye and based on how that light bends back, it gives an estimation of your prescription. Science for the win! David and Jesseka at the front desk kept the good times rolling. We talked about twists on ugly sweater competitions and balancing the sometimes uncontrollable need to never.stop.doing. with potatoing because R&R matters too. It was just fun. Welllllllllllll this place BLEW MY MIND, I'm a pretty picky person and right away the customer service blew me away and just right when you enter they greet you, even if they are busy (been there 3xs already) the waiting room is nicely stocked with numerous choices of glasses, brands and a comfortable wait area. There on it when it comes to your appointment time. The Dr is super super sweet. Makes people like me who ask a million questions comfortable than ever due to her asking to make sure there wasn't anything else she can help me with or any concerns. Honestly I'm new to the glasses world and Dr. Fu made my visit better than I could anticipate and couldn't have been complete with out the help of LORELEI who was the most patient everrrr with my picky self picking glasses. Which I'm in love with and she made sure I was.. Their selection never fails and consistently are up to date with the latest fashion. Again we were greeted and seen by Victoria, she truly tries to help to pick what frames best suit your style and face. She was very very patient with me and my mother. Amazing... That's all I have to say about the friendliness and helpfulness of the employees who work here. My preliminary testing was fast, and I was then seen quickly for my eye exam. Time for a Vision Exam...Since I've been wearing glasses since I was 2yrs old, I think I can claim to be knowledgeable about an Annual Vision Exam So I always look for helpful, easy to talk to staff over the phone and YES they were that! Now the Visit.... Super nice staff! It's always nice to be greeted by a happy smiling person and Jesseka did just that! Then time for eye photos, vision reading and peripheral screening (all are important) Mimi walked me through all three of those in a matter of minutes. She was polite, cheerful and I'm glad I got the photos of my eyes as she suggested. Then every year a new set of photos and you can compare how your eyes are doing. Then time for my exam with Dr. Iris Wong, so very nice, helpful and knowledgeable! I always come in for a double exam....glasses and contacts. It's nice to find Dr.'s who really understand how to get the proper prescription for contacts as I'm farsighted and in the past it's always been a challenge. They really do go the "extra" mile to get-it-right! AND I always learn something about my vision when I visit...Once done it's time for looking at frames and getting something comfortable and stylish...and Leana was there to help me with that. She was so patient and willing to look for what I wanted. I like lower rimless frames and she offered a variety of styles and colors as well as what they were made of. My lenses are kinda thick, so the lighter the better when it comes to frames. It really makes it easy to look when you feel the person is there to help you "find" the one that works for "you". I stopped by Grand Vision Optometry a few years ago for a pair of sunglasses with a loose screw. They fixed my sunglasses free of charge and I hadn't even purchased them there. I said if I ever needed glasses I'd be back and that day came. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the store was clean and organized. I LOVE this place. I had been looking all over for a new Optometrist and was so happy I found Grand Vision Optometry. My husband and I both went in for eye exams yesterday and had such a wonderful experience. On 02/01/16 I had an annual test and was due for new glasses. prescription had changed and had to move into a progressive lens. I typically asked for the clearest and lightest lens as my eyes are sensitive. All equates to higher cost. Expected. I requested an Oakley frame and all the top quality stuff. (no glare, trivex, everything. After receiving my cost. after insurance discounts. I was looking at just shy of $600.00. I asked why so high. The answer was. That is what your insurance company allows. I asked for a breakdown. Well this is how they handled my cost. They inflated the cost of the frames to a point where my insurance discount is negated. the cost of all the lens items were also inflated. So i went to a second person for a cost estimate in Vista. With Zero help from my insurance. The cost was $520.00. and she said she would work further if she can. So today I went to a third person. This company takes my insurance. After Insurance discounts and all the same lens materials and coatings. $334.00. IF I was to pay out of pocket ( no insurance help) at Grand Vision. We are looking at $900.00. Are you kidding me. Please people. review your estimates and ask questions. When asked about the inflation and the reason why so high. That's when the customer service person got upset. Nothing I can do Sir. That's our pricing. (73% markup) I understand business. But 73%. IS excessive. I was also told that In Oakley's contract. You are not allowed to inflate the price past the MSRP. Please also notice. Every bad review is not followed up by Dr Fu. Only the positive ones. read more

Im not much of a fan in the guys with labcoats. They make me feel somewhat uncomfortable. but i guess we need them...sometimes. My insurance sent me here, I dont really like white coat guys poking at me much less my eys .i guess it was a little obvious that I was nervous, and the doctor was really cool with me. She explained everyt hing tom me with diagrams and told me step by step what he was doing. She made me feel comfortable enough that I didnt freak out AND....i even got some nifty glasses out of it. The doctor made my experience awesome, and the staff was really cool also and I didnt wait very long. Im coming back...but only when I need too. read more
