I ordered2 pairs of glasses me two weeks ago and one pair came in. No call or text or email letting me know. I had to call. The second pair was not in and they said they would check. I had to call again. I was supposed to get a callback yesterday. They said they called. Funny no message was left. I call again today and it won't be in until next week sometime. Everyone here is always super welcoming and accommodating. I love going here because of that! I always have a great experience here from phone calls, to eye exams, picking out glasses, and even getting glasses adjusted. They have a great selection of glasses. For anyone who doesn't know what they're doing, or is inexperienced with optometrists, stay away. Finally got a job with my own insurance! They're very nice, and prompt. They will take care of you. Then you'll suddenly find out that everything they did was a charge. Oh... That's not cheap. 2nd time going alone. I specifically state, I only want what's covered under my insurance. Fool me once! They ask a question about my contacts. They say try this one on. I get to the front...60$ charge. But I just said.... Seriously....? 3rd time, had warranty to fix my lenses from scratches. Get new lenses back in 40 minutes. Get home, realise both lenses are scratched. Right side right in front of the pupil. Drives me nuts. I keep thinking about these experiences and it bugs me. I want to be best friends with the staff. That probably sounds weird, but you know what, they were all so awesome that I don't even care about your judgment face. Sirena was the cutest assistant and without effort we talked through all the eye tests. Dr. Wong was super bubbly and friendly. I've always wondered how the farm eye test works (where the farm in the distance keeps going in and out of focus). She gladly explained it shoots light into your eye and based on how that light bends back, it gives an estimation of your prescription. Science for the win! David and Jesseka at the front desk kept the good times rolling. We talked about twists on ugly sweater competitions and balancing the sometimes uncontrollable need to never.stop.doing. with potatoing because R&R matters too. It was just fun. Welllllllllllll this place BLEW MY MIND, I'm a pretty picky person and right away the customer service blew me away and just right when you enter they greet you, even if they are busy (been there 3xs already) the waiting room is nicely stocked with numerous choices of glasses, brands and a comfortable wait area. There on it when it comes to your appointment time. The Dr is super super sweet. Makes people like me who ask a million questions comfortable than ever due to her asking to make sure there wasn't anything else she can help me with or any concerns. Time for a Vision Exam...Since I've been wearing glasses since I was 2yrs old, I think I can claim to be knowledgeable about an Annual Vision Exam So I always look for helpful, easy to talk to staff over the phone and YES they were that! Now the Visit.... Super nice staff! It's always nice to be greeted by a happy smiling person and Jesseka did just that! Then time for eye photos, vision reading and peripheral screening (all are important) Mimi walked me through all three of those in a matter of minutes. She was polite, cheerful and I'm glad I got the photos of my eyes as she suggested. Then every year a new set of photos and you can compare how your eyes are doing. Then time for my exam with Dr. Iris Wong, so very nice, helpful and knowledgeable! I always come in for a double exam....glasses and contacts. It's nice to find Dr.'s who really understand how to get the proper prescription for contacts as I'm farsighted and in the past it's always been a challenge. They really do go the "extra" mile to get-it-right! AND I always learn something about my vision when I visit...Once done it's time for looking at frames and getting something comfortable and stylish...and Leana was there to help me with that. She was so patient and willing to look for what I wanted. I like lower rimless frames and she offered a variety of styles and colors as well as what they were made of. My lenses are kinda thick, so the lighter the better when it comes to frames. It really makes it easy to look when you feel the person is there to help you "find" the one that works for "you". On 02/01/16 I had an annual test and was due for new glasses. prescription had changed and had to move into a progressive lens. I typically asked for the clearest and lightest lens as my eyes are sensitive. All equates to higher cost. Expected. I requested an Oakley frame and all the top quality stuff. (no glare, trivex, everything. After receiving my cost. after insurance discounts. I was looking at just shy of $600.00. I asked why so high. The answer was. That is what your insurance company allows. I asked for a breakdown. Well this is how they handled my cost. They inflated the cost of the frames to a point where my insurance discount is negated. the cost of all the lens items were also inflated. So i went to a second person for a cost estimate in Vista. With Zero help from my insurance. The cost was $520.00. and she said she would work further if she can. So today I went to a third person. This company takes my insurance. After Insurance discounts and all the same lens materials and coatings. $334.00. IF I was to pay out of pocket ( no insurance help) at Grand Vision. We are looking at $900.00. Are you kidding me. Please people. review your estimates and ask questions. When asked about the inflation and the reason why so high. That's when the customer service person got upset. Nothing I can do Sir. That's our pricing. (73% markup) I understand business. But 73%. IS excessive. I was also told that In Oakley's contract. You are not allowed to inflate the price past the MSRP. Please also notice. Im not much of a fan in the guys with labcoats. They make me feel somewhat uncomfortable. but i guess we need them...sometimes. My insurance sent me here, I dont really like white coat guys poking at me much less my eys .i guess it was a little obvious that I was nervous, and the doctor was really cool with me. Dr. Mika Fu was superb at handling all my eye problems and will be my go to optometrist from now until forever or definitely as long as I live in San Marcos! Long story short I needed some prescription glasses because I have one bad eye and couldn't pass my driver's license eye test exam. My friend recommended Grand Vision Optometry because of their convenient location, which is in a shopping center. I made an appointment for a weekday afternoon and come the day of my appt I had my eye examined by the doc right away. She thoroughly examined my eye and educated me on my eye condition, telling me what I could do to strengthen my vision. I also got stylish frames on my face giving me awesome vision and super hero abilities. Suffice it to say I ACED my DMV vision test the second time around and have my license renewed. I found GVO through my insurance. From the time I made my appointment to the time I picked up my frames today, I have nothing but great things to say about the staff! I went through the list of recommended offices and I took it upon myself to go on Yelp to see reviews. GVO not only had excellent reviews, but they had it great pictures. Granted, I should not base my first appointment on pictures alone...But I was quite impressed with how the office was decorated. On the day of my appointment, I walked in and I felt very zen. There was not a lot of commotion going on and the lighting and the coloring of the room put me at ease. I filled out the necessary paperwork and did the pre eye exam with Adrienne. And then I met Dr. Fu. She was very patient with me and understanding. I had trouble telling which lense/vision test was the best for me. She took her time to show me all of the lenses again which made me feel confident that I was not being rushed. After my exam I met Mandy, who was the biggest helper to me. She was such a doll about helping me pick out frames. I really relied on her to tell me if a pair looked good on me or not lol Afer we sorted through the Yes, the Maybe, and then No piles, she help me pick out these beautiful frames. Then we went down to business about what lenses I would need. I never felt pressured, I never felt like I was being up sold on anything and I never felt like I did not understand. It was a very pleasant experience. I ended up ordering a new frames with my new prescription lens along with new prescription lenses to replace the ones in my old pair. The bottom line was not as expensive as I thought it would. This morning, I went into the office to pick up my new frame and I would meet at the door by Austin who is very nice and courteous. He showed me my new frame and gave me a sincere compliment when I put them on.
