Excellent customer service! After receiving the run around at a different location I decided to have my prescription filled here. They attempted to order the contacts just to find out the contacts that were prescribed to me dont even exist! The assistant manager notified Dr.Wong who was gracious enough to have me come in as a new client for a re-fitting at NO charge. Dr. Wong and her caring staff is highly recommended. Very happy with my experience at Grand Vision Optometry. I live in Oceanside and have been needed glasses for several years now. Now that I have insurance I checked all the local optometrists that accepted my insurance EyeMed and none of the reviews appealed to me. Had a friend that recommended me here and looked them up on Yelp.. had a good vibe about the place and so I scheduled my appointment. Very great experience that I had. I went on a Saturday and the office was very nice and everyone was very, very professional and gave excellent customer service. Will recommend to all my family and friends. The staff and store are amazing. Very nice and friendly. Only problem is they mark up all there glasses by over a hundred dollars on most pairs. So I picked out regular flak jackets and they were 249,00 in store and 160.00 from Oakley. That's huge mark up. If u have the money and are dumb enough to pay the big extra cost then this is the place for u. They should have a cap. Summary: Abysmally poor service and they tried to hustle me. GVO is in violation of their agreement with VSP. (See deets below.) GVO is refusing to sell me frames unless I purchase the prescription lens from them, too. Of course, they don't hesitate in accepting my prescription procured from another optometry office, but then refuse me the same choice that is allowed via my VSP benefits that I pay for, out of my own paycheck. That refusal is a direct violation of VSP's policy. The entire GVO staff are rude and deceitful hustlers. Details: I informed sales associate Austin, that I will be taking them elsewhere for the lens prescription. He stated to me, "That is fine." I came in later to purchase my selected frames and advised sales associate Sam that I wanted to take them elsewhere to fill the prescription. He said, "Sorry, you can't use your VSP insurance benefits. We can only give you a small discount on the frame." I told him "That is "incorrect." I am knowledgeable on how my insurance benefits operate. (I dislike when companies lie to me.) I said to Sam, "I will get VSP on the line and VSP can inform you that my frame benefit will be covered while still allowing me to take them to the place of my choosing to get the presciption lenses filled." I get VSP on the line, and indeed, the VSP rep informs 'Sam' that "Yes, she can use my VSP benefits towards the frame." Sam lied to me and incorrectly assumed he could hustle me. As a result of the convo with VSP, he began to ring up the frames, per the discussion with the VSP rep. Then Adrienne, the most obnoxiously rude manager I have run across ever, barked, "I will NOT sell those frames to you unless you get them filled here." I stated, "It's part of my benefit. VSP will cover them under my insurance, and you are a contracted provider with VSP." Adrienne then yells, "I AM THE MANAGER AND I MAKE THE DECISIONS AND I WON'T SELL THEM TO YOU UNLESS YOU GET THE LENSES HERE TOO." A VSP supervisor was on the phone call with me as I had I told the previous VSP rep what was occurring. The VSP supervisor asked to talk with the store manager, and Adrienne stated, "I don't want to speak to her. I make the final decisions." I'm concluding my phone call to VSP and Adrienne demands, "Get out of my store!" I told the VSP supervisor what Adrienne said to me, to which she replied, "I will write up a formal complaint on the store." I stated, "Excuse me, Adrienne, I just wanted to let you know-" at which point Adrienne tosses her head, spins her chair around the opposite direction and speaks to me with her back facing me, "Get out!" I stated, in a very calm, direct tone, "Please don't interrupt me. I have a VSP supervisor on the line and I wanted to inform you that she is going to write a complaint up on you if you fail to meet my VSP benefits." Adrienne demands loudly, "GET OUT!" I got my son, who had been quietly witnessing this ordeal, and walked out. VSP has issued a complaint against the GVO because they have a contract with VSP to provide frames to VSP customers. The Hustle: Sam lied to me about my benefits about "VSP would send them a warning if they sold me frames, utilizing my benefits, without filling the prescription too." When hustling me didn't work, Adrienne, the store manager, refused to sell me frames, and instead, actually told me to "Get out!" of the store. I was both courteous and mindful of my tone of voice. Adrienne, the store manager, is violating VSP's policy by refusing me to utilize my VSP benefits. VSP stayed on the line with me after I left. VSP heard the manager and was in disbelief that GVO treats their clientele this way. Further, the VSP supervisor followed up with the store after I had left, and Adrienne stated, "I don't want to speak to VSP!" The VSP supervisor advised me of this manager's arrogant, obnoxious behavior, and deplorable behavior. Selection: Normally I end up with a choice of about 6 pairs, but with their limited selection, I only found two 'potentially' suitable frames. They don't offer service in frame selection. Other shops assist the customer in picking out frames, based on the prescription and the customers face. It was the opposite here, as they proffered no frame selection assistance, for both my face and lens prescription needs. They lack experience in assisting customers in making wise frame choices for both the 'face and prescription lens' needs. Result: They lost me as a frame customer, my husband as a vision exam and frames customer, and my son as a frame and lens customer! That's three lost customers, one negative Yelp review, one negative experience on 'Escondido Friends' Facebook page with 19,000 members, where I received several recommendations to other local, 'wonderful' optometry shops, and one formal complaint initiated by VSP. The moment you walk into Dr. Fu's office you are greeted by nice ladies at the front desk even if they are both with someone. Whether you get checked in an appointment or you just have a question you don't ever have to wait very long. Like most other Doctors offices you have to plan at least half of your day around them because you know you will be waiting in the lobby and the exam room for far too long. Not here. Expect to get in and out with every question answered and a fabulous set of frames! I actually look forward to seeing my eye doctor! Also its so clean and bright and stylish! read more

Not pleased with the doctor or the customer service. Made it extremely difficult for me to order contacts from someone other than them. I just wanted my prescription so I could order contacts from a less expensive online retailer, but the office made it nearly impossible. Since it is now February and I am due for another exam in July, they refused to approve an order for 6 boxes (1 month supply) of contacts. They would only approve 5. Because of this, I am ineligible for a rebate from the retailer. I suppose they are afraid I will sell them on the black market. Or perhaps on that magic day in July my eyes will cease to be benefited by that last box of contacts. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it seems like an office that wants to inconvenience me as much as possible so I have no other choice but to buy contacts from them at an inflated price. So disappointing. My husband and I used to see dr. Fu for years. Dr. Fu is smart. You can tell she knows her stuff. Not the warmest fuzziest dr. But efficient. She always runs on time. They even call if you are running late to see if you are still coming. There is a lot of turnover with the staff. Not sure what that means. The opticians have always done a good job. We moved away to Orange County 2 years ago and even drove all the way to San Marcos just to see her for our annual exam. And ordered contacts through her even though we could have gone to our local Costco or online cheaper. However, they charged us to ship the contacts to Orange County since we didn't want to drive 65 miles just to pick up contacts. That left a bad taste in my mouth. That you would nickel and dime us after we made such effort to give you business. We ended up finding a local optometrist and won't be going back. read more

Decent service from the front desk, pretty knowledgable staff. Kim, the tech that did most of my exam, is especially helpful and friendly. However, I agree with Genesis M. I felt really rushed on both occasions that I saw each of the doctors- like they had somewhere else to be. I picked this location because it is by my house. However, as a working professional working 8am-5:30/6pm, this place just doesn't work with my work schedule. They are open later-ish (7pm) on Wednesdays, but it seems appointments are always limited for appointment slots after 5pm. For me at least, I don't really want to spend my Saturday morning or afternoon at the Optometrist. I'd rather take care of it during the week. This year I checked reviews on Yelp and switched to a different provider. Each of our new glasses were $100-$150 cheaper at our new eye doctor's business. My wife and i WERE customers for several years. However, we had problems with our last order of glasses (scratches on lenses, etc...). We were in the process of getting glasses replaced due to substantive flaws and the manager stopped the order. Like any product that is NEW, we expected the glasses to be free of scratches, etc... Despite being customers who spent thousands of dollars over the years and had been loyal, we were treated very poorly by the manager. Having spent time in retail and corporate america, i have a good idea of what constitutes good customer service. I have to say "THE BEST" optometrist I have ever been to. She actually showed lots of care toward helping me with my vision. In the past my old optometrist just pushed me in and out. She explained every little detail of what was going on with my vision. She gave me options and explained the outcome. I was truly an amazing experience.
