This is the best chocolate shop, in my opinion, on Long Island. My absolute favorite Bon Bons confection is the Figaro, which is a hazelnut paste combined with milk and dark chocolate in a delicious little square. Their caramels and other truffles and coffee-combined chocolates are also noteworthy. The shop is a rotating seasonal collection of candy and chocolate, gifts and cute home accessories, perfect for browsing, especially when you would like to both gift someone and sample some yummy chocolate yourself! Employees are consistently helpful and prompt. Their gift wrap also changes for the seasons. I just picked up a nice selection of delectable chocolate gifts for Hanukkah and pop in often when in town. Five stars all the way, always!! read more

This is a cute store on Main Street in Huntington Village Long Island but it's not even close (in chocolate terms) to Godiva or Lindt so don't get excited. The dark chocolate was just average and the service is horrible. They basically ignored us but we entertained ourselves with the Valentine's Day merchandise. I have been shopping at Bon Bons for 25 years plus. Their products are always delicious and displayed beautifully! I was there today purchasing candy and gifts for Thanksgiving! I spent $190 and the they wanted to charge me to wrap two small boxes of candy in the Bon Bons bag with tissue. They told me they now charge for wrapping! I am sorry but when you spend that kind of money on chocolates they should be willing to wrap two items free of charge! I was really turned off by this. I understood the cost of running a business is expensive but to charge when someone is already spending a lot of money is ridiculous. read more

I keep thinking about my last trip here. I used to love coming in because not only are the food products good, I've always loved their decorations. However, the last time I was here I was very turned off from ever coming here again. As I was checking out, the staff member helping me was very rude and patronizing to one of the other employees working behind the counter. She was nice to my face, and then when she spoke to her employee (here I'm assuming it was a manager/employee situation because of the questions being asked and the tasks being handed out) she was rude and her tone was awful. I wish I would've said something at the time, but it was an extremely awkward situation! I couldn't believe how she was treating her employee in front of the entire store. I have been in the employee's shoes before, and if I had been spoken to that way, I would've been very upset. It definitely seemed like the she was trying to teach her employee a lesson by embarrassing her in front of everyone who was there, and I just think that is wrong. No one deserves to be spoken to that way. I won't be coming back, and it's because Bon Bons doesn't seem to treat their employees with any sort of respect or basic decency. read more

I shop at this delicious shop often. My granddaughter happens to be a huge fan of anything "milk chocolate"! But in particular, every St Patrick's Day I buy my totally Irish neighbor six shamrock lollipops. They are always kind enough to wrap them in cellophane with green streaming ribbons, much to my delight, and more important, to the delight of my neighbor. I went to get gifts for the holidays. The chocolate selection is great!! They wrapped my box of chocolates really pretty. I also picked up a box of sugar free chocolates for myself. Their Chocolates are made FRESH right there on site, and they are creamy and delicious. Not only are their full range of Confections flavorful, but there are even other items on location that you can also give as gifts -- some of which are specially focused on that Holiday coming up. Although there can often be a small crowd of Chocoholics (Myself included) waiting to be served, you will see how quickly and politely that they will serve you . . . and the elation filled smell of chocolate that permeates the store certainly makes any wait very tolerable. My wife drove from Bay Shore to their store in Huntington Village to get 3 gifts for Fathers Day. None of the items purchased was on sale and there was a prominent clearly marked sign saying complimentary gift bag over a certain amount of money which she had spent. When my wife asked for the 3rd gift bag for the 3rd person, she was rudely told you can pay for it. In fact after spending $75 on chocolate she told her she actually was doing her a favor by giving her the 2nd gift bag as it's only one per customer. She also told her Value Drugs doesn't give gift bags at all! Not sure what the clerk meant by this. I didn't think Bon Bon Chocolatier was in competition with Value Drugs. What this clerk obviously does not realize is the value of a customer. By handling this matter differently, she could have created a customer for life but instead, we will never patronize this place again. And think about it. For the price of a small plastic bag, you lost a customer who will tell other potential customers to go elsewhere. Very foolish. To the owner, we suggest you train your people better. Was actually having a hard time finding the little chocolate bottles filled with liqueurs for a holiday gift. I called Bon Bon and sure enough they have them. While I was waiting to be rung up I noticed a HUGE selection of yummy looking chocolates in really interesting flavors so I HAD t o get some treats for myself. I got vanilla bean white chocolate truffles, they were just dreamy melt in your mouth delicious with a really nice vanilla flavor and some dark sea salt caramels that were fantastic the perfect salty sweet balance. ***UPDATE*** I wanted to respond after Bonbons responded to my first review. I spent $26 in total at your store. Yes, I purchased a couple of on-sale chocolate pops. But I also purchased an actual Christmas gift, which wasn't chocolate, and was over $10 - as well as some chocolate NOT from the sale section - and that is what I wanted to have wrapped. Regardless of your policy, the way the woman treated me at your store was unacceptable. I never would have left a review (nor would I be updating this review), if I received a genuine apology, rather than a deceitful comment stating, inaccurately, how much money I spent at your store. I just returned from Bonbons after having a very negative experience. I was buying a gift for someone, so I went to the register and asked the woman who was ringing me up whether they had gift wrapping (she had been putting my things in a large plastic Bonbons bag. She said no, but that I could buy a gift bag. While she continues ringing me up, my mom notices that they had a whole bunch of nice tissue paper, so she says, "can you put the things in a box with the tissue paper?" The woman looks at me and says shortly, "well is that what you want because you just told me you didn't a second ago," so I say yes. My mom and I are kind of looking at each other wondering at this woman's attitude when she makes *another* rude comment about how it's not gift wrapping and all she's gonna do is put some tissue paper in the same plastic bag. Now I NEVER confront people when I think they're being a little rude, but her attitude was just unbelievable, so as she handed me my receipt I told her she was being kind of rude. Instead of apologizing, she starts arguing with me saying she isn't being rude and that she'll put the tissue paper in the bag. I said no and just left the store. I should have just demanded my money back. I can't say I'm surprised to see that someone left a very similar review to mine last year, and I wonder if it was the same woman. I am giving one star because of the horrible service, as well as the fact that the cost of their chocolate was extremely high. I always liked this store, but the people who work there act they are doing you a favor walking in, I hate to point out anyone but the women with the long dark hair who has worked there for years. When you get a box of chocolates from this shop, you will be forever ruined from eating Russell Stover or other pre-packaged candy. The flavors are so much more intense, and the chocolate is very high quality! I love that you can customize your assortment so people only get what they like. Some of my favorites are the raspberry gels (they are like jelly rings but 100x better), coconut clusters, and apricots. They also have fun kids toys for stocking stuffers or to fill an Easter basket, although this stuff is quite pricey. I often go there for unique and beautiful hostess gifts, and I have also ordered chocolate favors here for various parties and their customer service was excellent. I am shocked by the poor ratings and bad reviews on here. This is Huntington's oldest family run chocolate shoppe . I think they started in the early 1980s in a very small location- and grew and grew . I have never encountered an unkind employee here, ever. Not once. Yes, hand-crafted chocolates are expensive; but lets just say that the median income of Huntington (village area, excluding Lloyd and Cold $pring Harbours) is $120,000.00 a year. People in the area eat dinner out multiple times a week, drink to excess ($18.00 craft mixed drinks that are gone in 5 sips) and send their kids off to expensive Burgerology with a crisp $100.00 bill in their pocket ! Let's not forget the Starbucks fraps that they buy for their kids in the mornings. Nice; a $6.00 milkshake for breakfast ! I see nothing less that Teslas, BMWs, Bentleys, Porches, and other expensive cars parked everywhere 24/7. So you're complaining about a pound of chocolate costing $36.00 ? read more

I like this Huntington chocolate/ confection shop that has a wide variety of chocolates from truffles to candies. In the back you can catch a glimpse of how it's all done and even see one of their large chocolate creations. At present time, they have a great exhibit of the Montauk lighthouse made of chocolate. Prices can be steep but the quality is really good. Recommended to visit but, bring your kids and your wallet can be drained. read more

$36.00 for a pound of chocolate covered raisins? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! I don't mind paying for quality, but it better be worth it. I'll pay $125 for a great steak for two or perfectly cooked lobsters at market price, etc. But, this place is a joke. The most expensive chocolatiers in NYC aren't even close to that price per pound. But, let's get away from the ridiculously overpriced chocolates and talk about the quality. At first glance, the chocolate has a very pale color. Milk chocolate should be richer and darker than theirs. Then, I took a bite. Where is the taste of milk chocolate? All I tasted was sugar. There was no smoothness to the chocolate because it's very weak. The raisins are decent size, but there is absolutely nothing to the taste. When you eat quality chocolate, you want it to taste so good that you can't stop yourself from finishing the entire box at once. Well, I took one bite, then another just to be fair and...I threw the rest out (I bought 1/4lb at $9, which is $36/lb.) If you want really great handmade chocolates from a local candy shop, try Emile's in Oceanside, NY. No, I don't work there or get anything from this little plug. I just HATE throwing money away for less than average things. At Emile's they make each piece by hand. The chocolate covered raisins have mild chocolate on the outside and raisins covered in dark chocolate. They are amazing. Now, getting back to the price. I know, it's a rich area, but that doesn't mean you have to rip people off. Like I said, the most expensive chocolate shops in NYC (they have lots of money, too!) are not charging $36/lb for chocolate covered raisins or other chocolates. I've been around the world and tried chocolates from Switzerland, Belgium, around the US, so I know where to find great chocolates. One thing I know... you won't find any at Bon Bons... Sorry! This is my favorite chocolate shop. The chocolate itself is high quality, and the various fillings are top quality to match. Their chocolates are made on-site, in a professional kitchen and mini-factory. The prices are lower than what you would probably expect for high-end chocolate, but you will definitely spend quite a bit of money here, because everything is so appealing and because this isn't average quality chocolate, it is superb quality. Regarding the service, I don't understand the negative comments by some of the other reviewers. The employees here are extremely patient and helpful, and have only ever been pleasant towards me. They are human though, and the store can get extremely busy. The employees work hard and no doubt feel a bit stressed trying to please everyone. I often have given gifts of chocolates from Bon-Bons to loved ones. Recently it was for Mother's Day. My mom was thrilled to receive a box of chocolates from Bon-Bons. They listened to my account of my Mom's favorite type of chocolates and they even included - not typed- but a hand written card! My mom was so impressed that she called me right away when she received it and she sent a text with a picture of the chocolates. 1st review - to customers - Very cute store, I do enjoy their chocolate, and have cute & unique gift merchandise. Some things, especially their seasonal items, are a bit over priced which is why I don't stop in often 2nd review - to manager / owner - You need a better ticket system during valentines day / easter / holiday. EVERY TIME, I literally mean every damn holiday I go in their, HALF of your customers leave angry because they don't see/understand your ticket system. I see the sign on both your doors, but possibly make it larger, not an 8x11 piece of paper. Use LARGE font so the women of Huntington with their large sunglasses on can read, or the elderly who want to buy some bunnies for their grandchildren. I basically witnessed a fight happen over easter bunnies...and I remember the same issue when I visited around Valentines day & Christmas. Either hire someone to LITERALLY HAND OUT TICKETS. Great location- nestled in a cute village with tons of restaurants and shops 2. Not only is Bon Bons a chocolatier, but it is also a gift shop where you could buy trinkets, books, etc. 3. There is a large window in which you could actually see the production. Almost like a krispy creme store but with chocolate., 6. Great customer service Dislikes: 1. Very pricey!!!! I had recently visited this chocolate store for the first time on Monday. I posted a review that was removed because it was too brief. So I'll try and explain why I would take the time to create a yelp account just to post this. The women taking my order knew it was a gift for two people and it was my first time there. She wasn't friendly at all but I guess people are allowed bad days. I asked if I could do two small boxes with a few chocolates in each. I was told I had to buy 8 chocolates in order to have a box. I only wanted 4 but I said she could put any others in if that's what I had to do for the box. She then put the other four in a bag. I asked if I could just pay the difference it would costs for the four chocolates and buy the box. And she said no. I understand the policy but if I'm willing to pay, why wouldn't you just be kind and charge me for the box. She was so rude that I just left. I went next door into Kilwins and was shocked how kind the owner and girl working at the counter was. They gave me an extra box and asked if I would like to try anything being it was my first time there. That's how customers should be treated. read more

Wow, one of my favorite places has gone completely downhill. A relative (review below) had them send us chocolates- one of my wifes favorites. Unfortunately they sent us the wrong order, which included many things she is allergic to. We had to throw it out. Appeals to the owner just get a worse attitude then from the staff. Based on these horrible reviews on the site, it is even more shocking to me that the owner (a) has not responded, and (b) has made no effort to make this right. When your long-term (30+ years!!!) clients abandon you as their go to place, it won't be long before complete failure occurs. Have been buying from them for sometime now. Service had gone down greatly. Mary Ann is down right nasty. Has a attitude from moment you walk in. Purchased a few things from them and they forgot to place in bag. Called when I got home they said sure come in and pick up what we left out. Went in the next day they go to back to get the missing candy and give me something different than I purchased. Asked for what I ordered they said this is it I said no its not. They said where is your receipt. I said home they said well how do we know you bought it? I answered I called you yesterday and you were putting in the back of the store and you had it. As the candy is good they are often time out of certain candies. The service is horrendous. The chocolates are great, and the store is very cute. But the person who assisted me was kinda rude. I was purchasing some chocolates to give as a gift for two different people, and some chocolates for me, so I explained 3 times, nicely, and she gave me some looks - kinda felt like she didn't like me for some reason. End of story, she gave me one wrapped, and the other one together with my chocolates, and I asked for another bag, and she looked like she just wanted me to get off the store (not to say how I felt with the look she gave to me). And then she just got a bag and and the paper and put inside the bag. Very unprofessional. It doesn't matter who is buying at your shop. Once you put yourself out there to work and deal with people as your clients, you should be nice to EVERYONE. This is my favorite store in Huntington and I'm in there at least a few times a month. Not only is the handmade french chocolate exquisite, but their decorative items are gorgeous and they decorate for each season so beautifully. all the kids in my life like to go there with me. The highlight has to be their Fall displays/products. Candied, chocolate dipped and caramel apples are to DIE for and the store is decked out to the nines. read more
