My mother spent her last days at grandmother's house. They made her smile everyday! Miriam and her girl's are the best!

At the suggestion of a very dear friend, we visited Lighthouse of Care in Arlington TX. I knew…read morewhat to look for as I worked with many of the largest assisted living providers for the past 30 years. I had seen many things I did not want to see ever again. I met the staff and talked to a few of the residents. The staff was very friendly and attentive to every residents needs. You could tell, they cared. The Director went over every detail of the contract explaining exactly what we could expect and how every aspect from the different levels of care to the daily schedules. I asked many questions from what the cost would be when mom could no longer feed herself, walk or require full time assistance. This was fully explained and the increase in cost was very in line. Having lost mom over a year and a half ago now, I still keep in touch with the Director as she became a part of our family and I know in my heart, my mother was in the very best place we could have chosen for her. Thank you Lighthouse of Care for making mom's last years more than we could have ever expected. Doug Ingle

Becky and her staff at Lighthouse of Care treated her like family. She was respected and cared for, and we were completely confident that she was in good hands at all times. We know beyond a doubt that because of them, we had much more quality time with her and that when we weren't there, she felt secure, safe, and loved. We will always be grateful to Lighthouse of Care and would recommend them to anyone.

ELDER NEGLECT!!!! First off, I understand the state of the…read moreworld, but it is no excuse for how my grandmother has been living. Elmcroft has a high turnover of employees, and it's been that way for years. They've confused medications before on what she should take when to not giving them to her. The same with food. Sometimes she'll be brought food, sometimes it'll be hours, and it's like she's forgotten. It was different when family (my mom and aunt mostly) were able to visit daily. Now, my grandmother is in hospice so after a negative COVID test, my aunt was able to visit first. What she found infuriated me! She had a pad for urine on her wheelchair. Underneath this pad was feces that she had just been sitting on top of. It was never cleaned. My aunt cleaned it when she got there. The feces had been touched and was along the handles of the wheelchair as well. So my grandmother had been putting her hands on her feces then of course doing other regular daily things like that eating and drinking. My grandmother has dementia and is also hard of hearing so she didn't alert us of this happening when we had our video chats with her on WhatsApp. She also didn't mention it when my mom or aunt called her on the phone. Along this this, her toilet seat moves back and forth. My grandmother is a high fall risk. As she will move herself to and from the wheelchair to bed or the toilet, having a wobbly seat just screams falling. She's in a two bedroom and pays $3,085 without medication. Can you explain to me what kind of care is being given for this amount of money???!!! Photos are from video my aunt took.

When my father passed away, someone sat with my mother all night and the following day. And "Cindy" who a previous poster mentioned, was an excellent employee, and she really knew the residents. She could be forthright, but never rude, and I worked with her extensively regarding the care for my parents. We miss her; however, the present staff has been wonderful caring for my mother. They seem to be doing their best dealing with their residents, families, and the Covid issues.
