Our family was impressed with the caring floor staff, activities, meals, grounds, pool, and convenient location. When COVID hit, the facility did as much as they could to keep everyone safe during incredibly challenging circumstances. Unfortunately, near the end of Mom's time at Wingate, she had a sudden medical crisis that resulted in her being moved to the Memory Care side and put on hospice, just at the time a new Nursing Director named Misty Keough came on board there. Misty exhibited a very troubling ignorance about hospice, end of life care, and Alzheimer's. She was also horribly antagonistic toward our family and the hospice personnel. (Her unprofessional behavior was witnessed not just by our family and the hospice nurses, but also our private aides and members of her own floor staff.) In conversation with our family, Misty was demonstrably contemptuous of hospice care. On various occasions she referred to hospice, pro-hospice people, and the use of comfort meds on one's deathbed - as "euthanizers." Her gatekeeping behavior resulted in the truly horrible and unnecessary suffering of our mom on her deathbed. (Misty literally refused our aide's and family's requests and pleas for comfort meds on the last day of our Mom's life - until the hospice nurse forcefully confronted Misty. Misty actually threatened to kick me out of the building that day, when I reported our mom in distress.) In the days preceding Mom's death, when she could no longer swallow, the hospice nurse left specific orders to quit force-feeding her because it caused her to aspirate. Misty overruled that order and told her staff to continue - resulting in painful episodes of Mom choking and vomiting. The reason I'm not leaving a single star on this review is that to Corporate Wingate's credit, when their leaders found out about Misty's actions, they took the matter extremely seriously. The VP Chris Stack responded immediately - reassuring our family that Wingate as a company was not anti-hospice, and that the entire staff at Wingate would undergo extensive training so that this situation would never happen again. The Exec. Director Vincent Messina, to his credit, was also immediately receptive to hospice training for Misty and his staff. Last bit of advice - for families looking specifically for Memory Care - I would suggest you look at the Wingate Blackstone facility nearby instead. It's recently renovated, has two levels of memory care, and has a proper medical director/doctor on site.

From the moment she moved in, she was surrounded by warmth, friendship, and opportunity. The grounds are absolutely beautiful -- especially the peaceful wooded area in the back, where she enjoyed walking and spending quiet time in nature. Inside, the gathering spaces are inviting and thoughtfully designed, making it easy for residents to connect, relax, and feel at home. One of the things she appreciated most was how intellectually and socially engaging life at Laurelmead is. She looked forward to the regular educational talks, musical performances, movie nights, and the many activities that kept each week interesting and fulfilling. There was always something to enjoy, but never any pressure -- just a wonderful sense of community. The dining experience was another highlight. The dining room is lovely, and she genuinely enjoyed the wide variety of menu choices and the quality of the meals. Dining became a social event she looked forward to every day. Most importantly, she made deep and lasting friendships there. Laurelmead gave her not just a place to live, but a vibrant community where she felt connected, stimulated, and happy. Our family is so grateful for the caring environment and the joyful years she experienced at Laurelmead. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone considering independent living for themselves or a loved one.

The administration had promised her a new apartment in their new Terrace Early Stage Memory Care unit since February, 2021. After the open house was held in June 2021 for this new unit, we were notified in July my stepmom was not going to the new Terrace she was being offered a room in the locked Alzheimer's Unit for an additional $2,000.00. This has been done without an Alzheimer's diagnosis and if she doesn't take this room she is out. Based on my, and the rest of my family's interactions with my stepmom, it is clear she is not in need of the care that the other residents of this unit require. It appears this facility has contracted with many outside customers for this new unit and in all likelihood for more rent than my stepmom was going to pay as a current resident. She loves living at Wingate and now is forced by circumstances to leave. If you are looking for an assisted living for your loved one skip this facility.

Comfort Keepers Home Care Lincoln, RI Office…read more I cannot begin to express how profoundly grateful we are for the exceptional care Comfort Keepers has provided for my Dad. When he came to live with me in April 2025, he arrived under hospice services for his Alzheimer's diagnosis. We prepared ourselves for decline--but instead, because of the extraordinary care, compassion, and consistency of Comfort Keepers, my Dad has thrived in ways none of us could have imagined. He is happier, more engaged, and enjoying a quality of life we feared he had lost forever. In fact, he is being discharged from hospice this Friday because he no longer meets criteria. This outcome is nothing short of remarkable, and I credit it directly to the dedication and specialized support he receives every single day from Comfort Keepers. Before working with his current CNA, Bo, my Dad was cared for by Max, who provided outstanding support and helped him transition safely and comfortably into our home. That strong foundation made all the difference. When Bo joined us, the care continued seamlessly--and then elevated even further. Bo goes above and beyond in everything he does. He treats my Dad with unwavering dignity, patience, humor, and genuine respect. His presence has transformed our home, giving my Dad structure, joy, routine, and meaningful connection. We feel blessed to have him. Our gratitude extends just as deeply to Vanitie and Kathy, whose communication, guidance, and coordination ensure that nothing ever falls through the cracks. Their level of professionalism combined with their heartfelt compassion is something truly rare. Comfort Keepers' specially trained caregivers engage my Dad in intellectual, physical, and emotional activities that beautifully complement his medical care. These interactions have enriched his days, strengthened his spirit, and given our family hope during a time we thought would be defined by loss. The impact on our entire family has been immeasurable. Comfort Keepers has not only cared for my Dad--they have given him life, comfort, joy, and dignity. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone at Comfort Keepers. We are forever grateful.

The company nickels and dimes you, so my mom's bill was never 90$. It had to do with calling in 5 minutes early or leaving 5 minutes late (15 minutes charge). I guess what bothered me was when my mom died and I cancelled the service, the aforementioned manager , Holly was all business with zero sympathy, even fake sympathy. I had met her and knew she could be charming so the newly brusque attitude was hurtful. I am past their rude behavior but Holly's lack of compassion is not forgotten. That is a personal aside. My mother did not have many memory issues and complained about the extra charges. If your loved one has some memory issues or just doesn't pay attention they will take advantage.
