Chowder in the front (meh). Burgers and fries in the back (yummy).

My husband's burger looked amazing but my meal was very meh. I got the chowder. It was very brothy and thin instead of creamy. The bread tasted stale and was very over-buttered. I was unimpressed by my meal Grangers but am giving 4 stars. The waterfront seating is sweet, the service was great, and the decor is stylish.

The offending article...more packet noodle soup than laksa.

Writing scathing reviews is never my intention. When looking for an establishment to nourish me, I am happy to pay handsomely for sumptuous cuisine. Arriving at the venue, the waiting staff were busy, yet friendly, helpful and accommodating. My wife and I were seated promptly and given time to peruse the menu. We ordered a light lunch. Calamari, skins and pork laksa. I'm a big fan of laksa. I eat it at all restaurants that list it in their menu. What I got was packet noodle laksa. With minuscule pork chunks thrown in and five udon noodles. There was an overpowering taste of coriander as if to mask the fact that this laksa was missing vital laksa ingredients. There was no coconut cream, no chilli, no lime juice. I paid $18 dollars for a packet noodle soup! The prawn on top of the laksa wasn't even fresh. Hard to imagine but it was worse than the packet noodle soup. My wife had the calamari. It was the best of our dishes. I enjoyed the calamari...probably because my laksa was so damned disappointing. The potato skins...were interesting, but I'd never get them again. Gordon Ramsay would have had a tantrum if he was served this crap. This establishment was supposed to kick off our 8 year wedding anniversary holiday to Waiheke. Hopefully I just got there on an off day. But I won't be wasting any more dollars on Grangers. Thoroughly disappointed.

I somehow lost a couple of hours after I stepped in Grangers. We just popped in for a late-afternoon beer, and ended up sharing some squid from the excellent tapas menu, and then some fries, and then we justed wanted to try one more on-tap craft beer... You get the picture. This is such an easy place to settle in to, with a total indoor-outdoor vibe and a fresh sea breeze, and in case you over-indulge, they have this cute little row of white Grangers bicycles outside that you can take for a head-clearing spin around the bay. To top it off, they also have a good-looking kids menu and the staff are absolutely accommodating to families.

Breakfast with side of black pudding and sausage.

To be honest, I will give this place zero star if I can. Really disappointing service and lousy food. The female waitress is really rude

We have dropped in for after hours dessert on one other occasion as applejack. And while that experience was good, it's pretty hard to mess up dessert. This review is based on a full breakfast. We walked and engaged with staff who let us free roam a table. We chose outside on the patio. Good mix of large and small tables. Excellent flow and decor. Howick was packed and our usual cafes looked far to busy for my ideal. So it was nice to have a scattering of other patrons, and the space between tables felt really good. We tried to order a latte bowl, only to be told they come in mugs, OK fine.... No big deal.... But imagine my surprise when a tiny dinky half tumbler glass came out. Half foam! I pointed out I ordered a mug.... To which a sheepish "this is how latte is served here" was uttered by or server. I rolled my eyes and sighed and sipped the foamy latte. I ordered a Bacon and eggs on toast, convincing my fellow breakfast seeker to get the big breakfast so I could pick at his mushrooms and hash. We both asked for grain toast. Once again surprised with the result this time he had grain and my plate had white... I sent my plate back. By the time I was able to start my partner had wolfed down two thirds of his breakfast. And my bacon was half cold, and sunny side up eggs over cooked. None of these faux pas were acknowledged upon settling the bill... Which also seemed pricy, especially given the rather blasé service. I won't be rushing back anytime soon which is a shame given the ample parking and eye catching location

For an ad hoc dinner choice it is casual but has a great wine list and good food. The Wednesday steak night is great. A beer in the deck in the weekend is also a great way to break up a weekend walk. The only downside is that it is a little cold in the winter as the heating is not good and smokers leave the door open. It looks cosy but needs more heat. Overall it's the best place in mission bay.

The entrance is tucked away on Tamaki Drive so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. While a few menu changes have happened over the course of my visits, they've kept to their roots and just continued to improve on an already great menu. I'm a big lover of their Attic tasting plate- if you're a first timer this is a great way to get a bit of everything at a fraction of the price. I enjoy places that cater for drinks and nibbles as well as a full dinner meal, and The Attic executes both of these quite well. There's plenty of seating available, from outdoor tables and stools to warm fireside couches- so no matter the occasion, weather or appetite, there's something at The Attic for everyone.
