I bought the truck out of my home state and wasn't told that the transfer and taxes were not handled. I had nothing but issues since I was not due to be back in my home state for a number of months. The dealership could have handled the transfer, because they're the dealership but as a person they require me to be in the state or have a Vin verification done by law enforcement, such a hassle and all kinds of complications. The Department of Motor Vehicles said that the way they handled it was completely unprofessional and and being a dealership they should have known better and they should have known how to handle the situation. Let me start with a shout out to Undre Holt! Walking into the dealership we we're suppose to meet another salesman, and he greeted us right away. He talked to us and asked all the right questions while walking over to the other building. while visiting we found out the car we made an apt to view had been sold the day before. I was an unhappy customer at this point. He quickly turned the situation to fresh starts. He went through the inventory to see if there was anything that checked our boxes. Not finding any, he visited with his manager and we were able to look at a fresh trade no in inventory yet. From there the deal was amazing. We will definitely go back for another car! Our daughter was able to learn about the process and be part of it. I will say I'm a hard person to deal with. I have certain expectations and hate the nagle. Horrible dealership. Maintenance department is incompetent and totally without customer service. Dropped our Sierra off with them on Thursday afternoon for a scheduled Friday appointment. Returned on Monday to pick it up only to find they hadn't even STARTED on the repair, originally estimated to take about four hours. No phone call or other notification regarding the delay. This is the second such incident we've had with this dealership, so not an isolated occurrence. Perhaps they just couldn't be bothered to work on our 15 year old truck. On the bright side, we had the truck repaired elsewhere at half the cost. read more

Basic tire rotation (Dually) is too much to handle and their excuse is "the tires don't need to be rotated because they're all the same". I purchased a new vehicle from Granite Buick GMC last year. I purchased the extended warranties on the components I felt most important. Recently, I had a crack in my windshield. I called to find out where I needed to go to have it repaired. They sent me to Carstar in Rapid City. Carstar was great, loved the service! However, I took a half day off of work to get my windshield fixed. Granite Buick GMC told Carstar the wrong windshield that my vehicle has. In turn, I had to wait longer at Carstar for the correct windshield to get delivered and replaced. Thank God the company Carstar gets their windshields from had one in stock. The point of it is Granite should have looked closer and given Carstar the correct information from the start. How difficult is it to look in your computer for the correct windshield? I'm pretty sure they get calls about replacement parts all the time, how difficult is it? It's ridiculous that you can't get reliable customer service anymore. Safe to say, I will never purchase another vehicle from Granite. Carstar on the other hand was great! read more

Would not go there again was out of town figured Gm Dealer would be safe bet. They tried to over charge me for parts buy hundreds of dollars. I will say it was nice they let me go buy my own part but then they overcharged me hr labor and added a $30 shop supply fee. I would have been better off going to independent repair shop but I thought I was going the safe way being 1000miles from home. read more

GMC Granite has a fabulous service department as I said in my last review. I still give their service department 4 stars. However I am leaving another review because their sales people are horrible at getting back to you. We have gone there two times and had an appointment, and the person we were supposed to meet wasn't there and everybody else was busy so didn't get taken care of like at other car dealerships. Another sales person said they would help and pass on the info to the person that was supposed to be there, but we never received an estimate on how much we could get for our truck. It also seems the sales people come and go very quickly so somebody that was there one day doesn't work there the next. read more

They are Awesome! These guys were so helpful and honest. I had bought a GMC truck from a dealer in Sioux Falls and I had nothing but problems from the minute I drove off the lot. I took it to McKie GMC to have them fix the problems and do a full inspection. They went over everything and gave me an accurate report. They fixed as much as they could and made it safe for me to drive back to CA. I would have had them do all of the repairs but some of the parts would have taken 3-4 days to get in and I needed to get back to CA. Their fees for the repairs were very reasonable and they completed the work in record time. What I appreciated was their willingness to do things right. What surprised and impressed me the most was their business ethics. They never once said a negative thing about the Vern Eide GMC dealer I bought the truck from. Most people would have especially with all of the problems it had. I am very thankful to McKie GMC and the outstanding staff that helped me and kept me safe. I want to give a special "Thank You" to Byron the service advisor, Jack an honest (non pushy) sales associate and Wes the service manager.Those three guys went above and beyond for me. I also liked the sales manager and business manager at this dealership. They were straight forward guys who were reasonable and easy to talk to. I watched them work with customers and they both made the additional effort it takes to be a #1 dealership. Everyone there was great and very thoughtful. Mr. McKie should be proud of them. They are the exception to the rule (especially when it comes to car dealers). I have already decided to buy my next car from them. Buying a car/truck is almost as painful as going to the dentist.  My experience with sale consultant Justin Carlin at Granite Automotive in Rapid City was the best buying experience in all the times I have purchased a vehicle. As this time was different as I did not have my husband who passed away earlier in the year to make sure we were making an appropriate purchase.  I never felt pleasured or rushed on marking a rather expensive decision Justin was patient and went out of his way to make sure all my questions and requests were answered and handled in a timely and courtesy manner.  I never felt I was just passed over to the sales manager or the financial officer Jason Stillens.  Justin did follow ups with me to make sure I was completed pleased with my decision to purchase at Granite Automotive and was updating me to when the truck would be ready and the additional items I requested to be done and detailed on my return as I was out of state for two months and they secured the truck until my return.  I can completed recommend Granite Automotive and Justin Carlin when you are looking to purchase a vehicle.  I am very critical on customer service and financial matters as I was an Operations Manger for mortgage companies most of my career.  In ending buying a vehicle can be a very stressful procedure but, I was treated with the upmost respect I truly would whole heartily recommend considering using Granite Automotive and especially Justin Carlin for your next vehicle purchase. read more

Have been trying to get to a place to view your current inventory but not totally succeeding!

I really don't like commenting about a business because it is just one person's opinion. We were on an extended RV trip towing our Pontiac G6 and encountered a fault light on the dash. The traction service and the service ESC lights would come on intermittently. We looked up a GMC dealer in Rapid City ( our next stop ) we sent a service request via their web site. The request was submitted on Saturday 16 June 2013. We received an email back from Paul Willis stating that we would be contacted by the GMC dealer. We never got a response from them. We called them on Monday afternoon 18 June 2013. Requested an appointment after being told that they had no idea who Paul Willis was. The lady on the phone said she made an appointment for us at 9am 19 June 2013. She also told me that if I had to leave the car that they would rent me a car. I drove our car to the service department at Granite Buick and Gmc Dealer. I was greeted and advised that I did not have an appointment and asked what phone number did I call. The service mgr. (Wes's) called the same number that I had called and sure enough it was ther service scheduler. I did receive a call back from Mr Paul Willis but he hung up when I answered the phone. The service mgr told the tech to work me in, which they did. I was then told it would take about an hour to diagnose the problem. I later was told that they had found the area where the problem was located but the engine was too hot to work on and that the service could take a long time to complete. I then went back to the service tech. to rent a car (one the lady said they had) to find out that they did not have a car. The service tech. was very helpful in calling several places and finding me a car. The car was repaired by three o'clock in the afternoon. The only thing that I can say about this dealership they have at least one good mechanic in their shop the car runs good. Would I go there again or recommend any one else, absolutely NOT. Jimmy R. For months I've been having problems with my 2010 Buick Enclave randomly not starting. I took my car to Dakota Battery, who specializes in vehicle electrical and batteries, they tested everything in my car and they found nothing wrong. They are positive it is some sort of programming issue. They recommended I go to a dealership. I went in to Granite and made my appointment. At that time I felt I was receiving good service. The day I dropped off my car for my appointment I received a call a few hours later saying my battery was bad and that I should get a new one. I stressed that there was something more wrong with my car & have been having this issue for quite a while now. I had already replaced the battery a year prior and it didn't fix my issue. I've had 3 places test my current battery & Granite is the only place that says my battery is bad. I felt like the guy was disregarding my problem completely. He told me that I probably purchased a bad battery. He then gave me a quote for $1,900 to get brand new tires (because I had a nail in one of the tires), new back brakes & rotors, a transmission flush, an alignment, and of course a new battery. At this point I felt that they didn't even care what my problem was and their main purpose was to screw over a woman. Not only was my real issue not solved, but I had gotten my car checked elsewhere for FREE and they care about my issue. I'm out $85 and my car still isn't fixed. I took it back to Dakota Battery to double check my battery and again they said there is nothing wrong with my battery. Again they looked over my car a 2nd time for FREE! I feel if my battery was truly bad they would be trying to sell me a new battery as well. Overall, I'm clearly disappointed in the lack of customer service that I received. No one at Granite cares about my issue and their main concern was to sell me $1,900 worth of car maintenance that I don't need at this moment. I need to be able to rely on my car, I have 3 kids to get to their activities and a job to be at. I feel at this moment there is no one that can help me. It's my understanding that dealerships are the only places that have the special equipment to check the computer programming in my vehicle and be able to actually fix it. read more

Trust! None for Granite GMC in South Dakota. While traveling across the US I took our new 2015 Yukon in for its first service which included an oil change and tire rotation. With a 7:30 appointment I was their first customer that morning, so far so good. Nope. An hour later I was told my vehicle was done and all service completed. I walk out to my vehicle and checked the tires only to find that no tire rotation had been performed ( I know this because the week before I had a screw in the right rear tire which I marked on the rim so I would know which wheel to watch as I was towing a 22' travel trailer about 8,000 miles). The service advisor Mr. Veskrna assured me the service had been done until I confronted him with my information and showed him the black mark on the aluminum rim. He returned the mechanic Mr. Evans who relented that he had NOT performed the required service. They did offer to then do the rotation however, once you lie to me I don't trust you so I declined since they would only have Mr. Evans correct what he hadn't done to start with. Later that day it occurred to me to check that the oil had actually been changed. I was then one state away in Wyoming. The oil had been changed except the incorrect oil filter had been installed. I talked with another mechanic who advised that the filter would probably work OK but, change the oil sooner and make sure the correct size filter is then used. Maybe I'm wrong but, I believe you should be able to receive the services you are paying for and trust the shop staff. For the folks living in the Rapid City area take your GM vehicle to another Certified Service GM dealer in the area. For the General Manager or owner of Rapid GMC please meet with your staff and talk about honesty. This was not an innocent mistake or mere oversight, you doggone well know if you pulled off four wheels and moved them around and re-torque the lug nuts. read more

I've used Granite (formerly McKee) for years for oil changes and warranty work. Seemed good at the time until 2012 when my warranty ended. I brought my G8 to them since 2010 for warranty and oil changes. They fixed most everything. I brought my car in for a last round of repairs before the warranty ended and i deployed. One of the items was my airbag light. This was the third time i've brought my car in for the airbag light. The light always came back on. Of course it came back on and then i deployed. When i returned i got a recall notice from GM to get the light fixed. So i brought it to Granite to get fixed. They said no they couldn't because the light was on. I asked then what was fixed the other three times i brought my car in under warranty to get fixed and they replied "it was three different problems on the same system" i guess it could be i'm not a G8 mechanic but i do know you can reset a computer and fix it temporarily. I'm sure that's what they did. They wanted me to pay to get the airbag fixed and then they would do the recall. No thanks, i took it to Rapid Chevy and they fixed it in an afternoon with no fuss. ts been 3 months and the light has not come back on. Either there incompetent or crooks neither i would like working on my car. read more

I recently purchased a late model used vehicle from Granite that was not on their lot, one that they found at a different dealership that met the specs I was looking for. I was told that it was located in the Salt Lake City area, so we negotiated and eventually made a deal. It arrived, we finalized the paperwork and I left on vacation, leaving the vehicle at home as we flew. When I arrived home, I noticed the oil change sticker was from a Minnesota dealership, so I confronted the sales associate who confirmed that it, in fact, had come from Minnesota, not Utah like I negotiated for. I argued that I wasn't given the opportunity to negotiate a deal on a vehicle from Minnesota, which has much different climate and road conditions than Utah. They only offered to try to find a different one for me, after I had already put over $5000 in accessories, license, sales tax, etc into this one. I finally got a wash and wax job, nothing else, and had to get real snotty with them before they offered that. And it was sprinkling when I backed it out of the bay, so that went out the window, to.. Bottom line, they seemed to think it was just fine to have misrepresented the vehicle. read more
