Bob the owner was generous with his time & explained everything to us about the cabinets and marble/granite tops. This contractor came in with a blank contract template, asking me to sign it. There had been no details of the kind of work that was to be done, and when I mentioned the lack of information, he said I could fill it out myself. He kept insisting to sign the contract and give him an immediate deposit. I obviously declined signing a blank contract, and he started to try and intimidate me which I found so ridiculous. I just told him we will find someone else. Very unprofessional, and people should know.

First they sent out an Michael, who was unfamiliar with the type of rehab I was doing but tried to take notes and ask questions. He seemed to have an overall pleasant demeanor. Due to Michael's inexperience, Robb had to come out an view the property a few days later. Robb was supposed to be the expert on the type of renovation I was doing. Robb showed up 30 minutes late for my appointment, did not call or text to inform me that he would not be on time. The meeting was good and Robb did seem to be knowledgable. I asked him about the use of subs and he said that subs do all the work for him. I asked if he would be open to working with a sub that I had already hired and he said that he would. He explained to me that the company also offers Project Management services, so that I could use them as that instead of the full General Contractor. Robb then told me to expect an estimate by Wednesday of the next week, we met on a Friday. I wrote them an email a week after failing to receive the estimate on the Wednesday it was promised and was told that the only was they would work on my project was if they were the GC and used only their subs. Obviously this was different than what I was told in the meeting but I wanted to see the price that would be quoted to me. I agreed and asked for them to send me the estimate, which I still have not received. I would be leery of hiring them due to misleading claims. The refusal to work with other contractors is also concerning. I have a family member who does similar work and he said to never work with a GC who refuses to work with subs that aren't theirs, that is a huge red flag. Everyone is allowed their preference but that typically means the person/company is shady. I also had to chase them down to get any information on the estimate, so if hired I would probably have to chase them to do the work.

We did not have a vehicle that could move the table, but since we lived in the neighborhood right around the corner they were willing to load it into the van and drop it at our apartment when they closed up at the end of the night. Truly awesome and did not make us feel like it was a hassle at all. We will look forward to shopping there again. They seem to run sales on their items regularly and the stock on the floor turns over weekly in sections. They have lots of big items, but also tons of smaller and/or cheaper novelty and fine art items and gifts.

It was a fantastic assortment of different quality kinds of wood, at very reasonable prices! I did not realize until I looked at their website that they have a $10 per year membership fee. However, for the quality of items you get at such amazing prices, it's definitely worth it to support a great non-profit.

It breaks my heart when I see people tear up old homes on some, but not all TV Reno shows. Kresson St., in Baltimore, MD 21224) sells fantastic products from "what was truly back in the day" at Extra Low Prices. Such a small staff, still running fast. I keep hearing over and over about "new trends and changes" but ~ TLD is a BEST Representation of how Old can consistently be made New again. The original contractor grouted the corners of my shower which apparently was cutting a corner. The grout cracked and started leaking into my kitchen. Grout Medic came and removed the poorly installed sanded grout and installed the correct caulk grout matching the original color and saved me thousands. Other contractors quoted over $5K to tear out my shower and reinstall the tiles, plumbing, etc. For a fraction of the price my problem was solved. We don't know time frames for ordering products but it took over a month before she got another call to schedule the install. The installers came yesterday & were very professional & did a good job. The designer was not detail oriented when it came to measurements and selection. I felt I had to handle the design myself and document my own measurements and selections. Responsiveness was sketchy at best. I had some damaged product which resulted in months of delays (not Mill Valleys fault) BUT they should have advised me to open ALL cabinet boxes and inspect thoroughly instead of only opening fronts. I was disappointed in the Candlelight product, but that's another story. If you want a company to handle all aspects of your kitchen remodel then this is NOT the place to go. You can save some money here (on cabinets) but in my experience the savings was not worth it.

About 3 years ago we remodeled our kitchen blowing out a wall for more of an open concept. We wanted a simple but very high quality look for a country stone farm house.. Mill Valley showed us white full inset shaker style cabinetry from two of its semi-custom brands. We chose one which was great but saved us $10,000 compared to the highest end line they carry. It was a very long process given everything we had to do and delays with our contractor. But they were very patient and went with us to other places to help pick everything out, even though they weren't selling us the flooring, and appliances. They were also very helpful with the counters, which they don't make either. We went to two different places and learned a lot about surfaces. Ultimately we went back to granite, and we learned you have to be picky because some granite is more beautiful and marbleized than others, and most folks get tired of moving slabs around so you can cherry pick their best stuff. I would definitely recommend Mill Valley if you want a very high end kitchen at a reasonable price.

But everything went great with Floors Etc. I got an estimate, met them at their showroom, picked my flooring and took a sample home, set up a date for install, and they showed up on time! They got the work done in a timely manner and it looks great. They were out of stock of the stair floor nosings, but got them and installed then a couple days later so no big deal. I am very happy with my choice.
