Granite Nissan -- Misleading, Dishonest, and Financially Harmful Experience I am writing this review to warn others after an incredibly misleading and financially damaging experience at Granite Nissan. I purchased a car from them and realized within hours that I had been misled. I went in for a vehicle with good gas mileage, but the salesperson talked me into a floor model and refused to let me test drive the exact car I was buying. Instead, he had me drive a "similar" model, demonstrating features like co-pilot assist and 3D camera views. Based on that test drive, I agreed to purchase. The car I received was nothing like what I was shown. It rode stiff, was uncomfortable, and lacked the features they demonstrated. I called the dealership immediately after putting only 90 miles on it, and what followed was weeks of excuses, delays, and broken promises. I was told repeatedly that a manager would contact me--no one did. When I finally went in person, I was told the "first step" to making things right was to register the car. Trusting them, I followed their instructions. Once I registered it, their "solution" was to offer me $26,000 for a car they had just financed at $43,000--a $17,000 loss on a vehicle I had owned for only days. To make matters worse: * I asked to leave the car with them so it wouldn't gain miles while we waited for a resolution--they refused. * They took over two weeks to send registration paperwork, forcing me to continue driving it for work. The mileage increased only because they wouldn't take the car back. * Nissan Corporate later told me the deal could have been unwound under 100 miles--exactly where I was when I first tried returning it. On November 13th, after they told me my car was "only worth $26,000," I received a call saying the deal couldn't be unwound because there were now "too many miles"--miles they caused by refusing to take the car back. I was promised a follow-up call the next day (November 14th). It is now November 15th, and, just like every other promise they've made, no one called. This dealership sold me one car, delivered another, and then tried to force me into a massive financial loss for their mistake. I have never felt so deceived as a consumer. Stay far away. I had my key fob battery die and had to call the dealership to figure out how to start my Murano. The service representative quickly walked me through the easy process and suggested that I come to the dealership for a new battery . I was only a mile away, drove in, the same service representative immediately took my fob, replaced my battery for FREE and I was back to finishing up my errands in minutes? I can't say enough good things about how I was treated! I have had no problems with my 2018 Murano and will be back to Granite Nissan for service and sales! The only reason for the second star was the sales department. They made the car buying experience easy and painless. Service department is horrible. They lost record of 3 free oil changes I was promised while signing the papers. After 5k miles on the new Titan XD pickup, I had a parking sensor error. I took the pickup in to have it fixed (under warranty). First, they didn't have the part. Second, they would not cover it under warranty due to some gravel broke the sensor. Cost for the part is $650 without labor. I bought a pickup. Apparently Nissan pickups are not meant to drive on gravel. read more

I'm very disappointed in the service I received at this dealership (and also with the manufacturer) regarding warranty issues. I bought my car elsewhere so I don't know anything about that side of the business with the exception of dealing with the GM, who wasn't much help either. The most concerning part to me as a new Nissan owner is the way both the dealership and the manufacturer are handling the warranty issues. According to the dealership, "we know that the manufacturer will just send it back to us and won't cover so we won't bother sending it in." According to the manufacturer, "the dealership gets to decide what to cover and what not to cover. You can get a second opinion, but you'll have to drive 400 miles to Denver and then your car will be out of warranty and then we can review the situation." In addition to the above finger pointing so that nobody is to blame and nothing gets done, the Rapid City service department itself gave me the run around. I finally contacted the GM and she just pawned me back to the service manager, who thinks nothing of taking nearly a week to get back to you. I even had a safety issue that the front desk guy witnessed, but still said they couldn't fix it. Why? Because they don't know how to fix their own cars? The entire experience left me feeling like these people do not know what they are doing, and are not to be trusted. We were on holidays for two weeks in the area and I had a few problems with our Hyundai Entourage. I had a code reader with me and had done some research. They ordered in the parts and we were given a rental car complimentary because of the amount of work we needed done. There was no surprises, and everything was done right the first time. This is the worst car dealership as they do not stand behind there word and they are super rude. I had bought a 2017 Nissan there and had loads of trouble with my so about 6-7 months down the road contacted the manager and he made me a deal stating he would cover my overage miles on my Nissan. And now my lease is coming up on the end of my lease and the Manager now Angie and she was very rude and would not cover anything at all and stated that having a written email from the former manger means nothing and its not a contract. Then moved up to the Owner and he was even more rude as he even hung up super unprofessional as the bill is not even that expensive just the fact of how rude they are. So I wrote a good review about them earlier. Great customer service and everything etc. The reason I am changing this is that they charged my card an extra $1,000. We agreed on a $2,000 down payment. So a couple weeks after I buy the car they charge me an extra $1,000. The Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. So I am out $1,000 until the weekend is over. A salesman got me out of my car which had no issues and was not old. It was a 2020 Hyundai Elantra limited. And sold me a 2020 Nissan Altima SR for $30k. However after purchasing the Altima, I noticed the sunroof seal being broke as well as being rushed into buying it before they couldn't trap me. I contacted him (not saying names) about trading it back for my Elantra at which he joked about saying I could then later saying he was joking. Mind you before this process, I was waiting over 2 weeks to even have a car designated for me to "purchase". I would love to trade it back for my Elantra however they think it's a joke. Don't recommend this dealership to any first time buyers and someone who isn't wanting to be played. Once I'm done with this finance, I will no longer be doing any sort of business with them. I had asked him prior to doing any sort of paperwork that I wanted my payments not to rise much more than the $419/month that I was already paying. He continued to tell me that on a bigger, newer, car that it wouldn't rise much. LIE! My payment raised to $501/month and I had 6 people in the financial office surrounding me to have me purchase the vehicle in less than 3 hours. I needed time to think and decide, that wasn't the case for them. I walked out and came back later that week to which the payment didn't reduce. I will say I like my Elantra more than this Altima that I'm currently stuck with. Sucks to have to pay so much more for a car I don't enjoy as much. I don't thank you Granite Nissan. read more

My husband and I went there and the person helping us seemed very nice and knowledgeable, steering us away from cars he claimed would be trouble. However, once we found a car we liked he said it was new in the lot and he would call us after it got checked out and keep us updated. He had both of our phone numbers and email addresses. Neither of us ever got a call from him about the car we were interested in and it was ultimately sold to someone else so we went and got a car elsewhere.
