terrible installation with workers dont speak english!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hole for faucet drilled off center and not over the drain like it should be, because of the clamp holding the sink in place(could have used adhesive in that area) they didnt even check the level of the top and now we have a puddle in the back!! idiots could have taken a minute or so to level it, could have used a few pennys to lift it up in back, but no, thay dont give a damn, its not their house!!!!! really is pitiful and the worst thing is the company does nothing to correct it or satisfy your complaint, once they have your money they dont care!!! a 8 year old could do better caulking!!! has to all be redone!!!! globs put on with fingers at the corners and it sticks out like a sore thumb!!! stay far away from granite planet unless u want to hire a bunch of fu-k ups!!!! read more

Granite Planet is the only place I will use for all my granite needs. I have used them at my home and at several of my rental properties. I've had them do Kitchens, bathrooms and even a bar top. All of them came out beautifully. They have a large warehouse to look at all the granite and quartz options. For smaller jobs they also have a section with remnants. From selection to measurement to install.....the timing is always quick. Sara has always been a great help to me and is always great with follow-up. I have had it with these people . They did the worst job on my countertops - I have at least 5 chips , my seams are terribly big and chipped , not to mention they dinged my $3200 refrigerator, cut my $1200 cabinet unnecessarily and scratched up my cooktop terribly . Granite Planet was my second quote but after speaking to Sara, she gave me the most important reason to stop looking. She provided excellent customer service. Something that's hard to come by these days. Terrible. If you want cracked counter tops shop at granite planet. ( Granite planet dodged my calls for weeks and refused to help) Inexperienced installer had to change drill bits 3 times while cutting our quartzite countertops for the faucet and soap dispenser; radiating cracks from both holes. They are so deep that it snags your finger nail when touching the counter tops. Owner refused to replace the cracked piece saying that it is normal and not cracked, even though you can FEEL and see the cracks. Currently having to dispute the charges because i am left with no options for help. Stay away, if you want the job done right and a company that actually cares about quality and the customer. We purchased a quartz countertop for our kitchen in a new build. We noticed some streaking on the counter. We called asking for advice as to how to clean and remove the streaks. We actually made three calls and each time we were told they would call us. We also sent two emails with pictures. With each call we were told they would call us back shortly. We are still waiting! If you're looking for excellent customer service, and to feel like "you're family" This is the place for you! I have so many wonderful things to say. My husband and I had a plumbing issue in our bathroom and we needed a custom fit piece for our vanity. We were on a time crunch, because of course when these mishaps happen it's never good timing. Our daughters graduation party was a week away. They were able to make the tight deadline work even though I know they're extremely busy. Sara was extremely pleasant to work with and so attentive to our needs and deadline we had. She made sure every detail was taken care. It's not too often you find people that care anymore. She put her heart and soul into everything. Alex and his partner who came out to our home to do the install were polite courteous, and made sure that our every need was met. They cleaned up everything and made sure everything was correctly placed. When you're in this field attention to detail is crucial and they get an A++ . Long story short if you want quality work done, run as far away from this company as you can I paid them to measure and install my granite they cracked one piece and refused to replace it just wanted to repair it and the other piece was incorrectly sized, they set it anyway and refuse to correct the problem. Installation was scheduled for 1pm - 4pm. At 4:05 I called because no one showed up nor did anyone call to explain why the missed appointment. The office personnel said they would check with the installer and get right back to me. I had to called back just before 5 and the office person said the installers were on their way - again with no call from anyone to relay this information. The installers finally showed up around 5:30. No offer from the owner for inconveniencing me. I'd stay away from Granite Planet because their management is extremely unprofessional and could care less about their customers. read more

I had my countertop installed about a month ago. Timely service with an excellent installed countertop. Unfortunately at the time of installation I didn't have a faucet and they drilled one hole. The installers stated that once I purchased the faucet they would come back and drill any additional holes that my faucet may need. I set up an appointment for them to come out. I called to confirm my appointment prior to leaving work early, with no answer. So I left my office, still trying to call to confirm, with no answer. Needless to say, they never showed up. I called the following day and spoke to someone with the promise they would call me back. It's been a week and I'm still waiting for that call. The really terrible thing is, I was extremely happy with the countertop and recommended this place to a office mate. Unfortunately, he has decided to go with another company based on this experience I'm currently going through. Additionally, I'm in the middle of a complete house Reno and with having still to do three bathrooms, I won't put myself in the same situation with the same company. They lost my business and I will not recommend this company..... sad and poor follow up customer service! read more

Excellent experience- we had a large basement project completed yesterday that came out beautifully. The installers were very professional and meticulous with the installation. 7 pieces of granite were put together, which took 4 hours. Their attention to detail and pride in their work is obvious. Seams are done well and the flush mount sink looks great. Great experience overall for a very reasonable price. I am very particular about quality and service and I would definitely recommend Granite Planet. We will be using them again for future projects!! read more

If I could give this company no stars I would. The selection process went alright but after installation there were some problems with the installation and the sealing of the counter. A hazy film remained on the counter and we called right away. Took a couple weeks for them to come out and we were told there is nothing they can do about it. And the large gap that remains under the counter between it and the sink can not be fixed either. They offered NO solutions. I am still researching how to get rid of the film and it looks like I am going to have to try various methods to strip the sealant and then see if one should have been applied in the first place for I have been told not all stone countertops require one and is probably the reason for the film. Stay away is my advise. read more

The owner finally called after 2 days and we scheduled the appointment for 4pm that day. It's 2 days later, he never showed nor called. I agree with RUN AWAY from these guys, they are as rude and unprofessional as you can get. Not sure how these guys stay in business, but I've gotten better customer service on a $20 return at Walmart than with these bozos. As with most of the other poor reviews of this company, we found them to be unprofessional, rude, and arrogant. We spent 6 hours over two days picking slabs. After being tagged in our name, we were told to call for counter-top measure and then install after when our cabinets were in. After about 4 weeks we called and scheduled. The day before the install, when were heard nothing from them, we called and were told summarily that the owner had sold our slabs to someone else, even though they fully admitted they were sold to us. No accommodation, or even a verbal apology was offered. Astoundingly, when I asked for at least a verbal apology, the "manager", Aaron (hey Aaron, do you have 'an other brother Darryl??), told us we were now "problem customers" and were not welcome in their store and were now "on our own". Further calls were disconnected upon answering. So, we were left hanging with no slab (and so no functional kitchen). We ended up going to Home Depot because we needed our kitchen back for a family visit, but ended up getting a much better grade (and appearance) of granite for moderately less $ (10%), as well as a perfect and drama-free install...polite, prompt, and professional (and I will admit to being very pleasantly surprised at this, though I think suspect experience may vary from store to store). Anyway, in the end we consider ourselves lucky to have dodged the proverbial bullet in that I firmly believe we would have received equally unprofessional installation with equal unresponsiveness from this crowd as many others have reported in their reviews. Stay away from Granite Planet in Livonia. The lack of customer service and support is insane. Granite planet installed $3200 in quartzite countertops into my home last may. After several blemishes and dull spots were noticed after installation it took almost a year to get them out to address the issue. I was told by the owner that his employees did not apply the sealer properly. After a 10 month game of phone tag he sent guys out to re polish the tops. When they left they applied a product that they referred to as a sealer and told me to leave it on over night. I took a photo of the can that the employee used and contacted the manufacturer the next day after I could not get the haze and dull gray appearance off my tops. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PRODUCT SAID, DO NOT LEAVE ON FOR LONGER THAN 5 MINUTES. My counters are now dull, hazy, dirty looking, and it has been 5 days, over 20 attempts to contact the owner with no return calls. I told the office staff I have found reviews online regarding the poor communication with the company.. the response was "well those people are crazy" very rude, they are uneducated in the product that they applied and now it will not come off, with no contact from the owner. Stay away.. any advice ? read more

Buyer beware!! Not only are they unprofessional but the work quality is very bad. I ordered three large kitchen countertops, the first installation they said there would be 1 seam, they showed up the day of installation with 3 seams in the material. I sent the countertops back, picked out others that they could install with only 1 seam. They made ALL my cuts wrong, the cooktop was too small, and the holes for the soap dispensers were also too small. Lastly on my island they sold me a piece that had a dull spot/ looked like it was etched. I complained at installation - as when i picked out the slab it was dirty they assured me that it would be cleaned up and would have no imperfections but it did and I did not see them till they were installed. They told me the sealant would smooth it out. This was a lie, my kitchen contractor, and two other reputable natural stone fabricators indicated that it was not honed or polished well and this should have been done prior to installation. I complained they did not get back to me for two weeks, and then shuffled me from owner Mari to the manager Aaron who was none responsive. I told them I was having someone else hone and polish the stone and charging them - so they are refusing to pay the $600 extra dollars it costs me to fix their issue. I will definately be taking them to court. Do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else these people are not reputable, honest, nor do they do good work. read more

I am extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service and professionalism that I received. I chose a piece of granite for a vanity counter top. Prior to leaving GP, I set up an appt. for the measuring and the installation. I was told the estimate would be available the day after the measurement and it would be sent to me. That didn't happen. I had to contact GP to request the estimate. The following day I went to GP to pay for the vanity counter top only to be told the piece of granite that I had chosen about 2 weeks prior had been sold. Yes, I said sold! They had a very poor response. No apology. No customer service. I sat and waited for the owner to tell him what was going on. He never showed up. I asked them to have him call me. It's been a week and nothing. I emailed them letting them know I had not heard anything for a week. I checked my email this morning and nothing!!!!! I am appalled by the sheer lack of customer service. Apparently they don't need my business, or my money. Consider doing business with a reputable company that will appreciate your business and give you the level of customer service you deserve. Read all of the reviews. There are more people unhappy with Granite Planet that will not do business with them. read more

We couldn't any happier. They came out as promised and installed as promised. We made an appointment after talking to the owner. We had 2 friends refer 2 other Livonia granite places. Both were higher in price and services. One didn't seem too interested in our business, the other wanted to charge an import tax. What? Granite Planet had to shim all 3 counter tops, grind 2 side wall tiles and the wall (an old house). One of the other companies wouldn't even consider grinding the tile to make a fit. How could they possibly fit the counter top? Anyway, we're glad we went with Granite Planet they were over 25% less than the other 2 guys. read more

The final cost was about 30 percent higher than the quote. They left a dusty mess and the range and sink and garbage disposal was not hooked up. The refrigerator also was not working. All were working before they started the Granite. They showed up an hour and 45 minutes after they said they would. Installer was very nasty rude man. Sloppy job. read more

Unlike the other reviewers, I had a positive experience with Granite Planet. The individual sent to do the measurements called to say he would be late, but he still arrived well within the two hour window period. He spent a significant amount of time taking measurements, unlike some other contractors. The installers arrived right on time and took great care not to damage a tiled wall directly above the backsplash. From the time we put in the order to installation, the whole project took less than a week, and ended up being the lowest bid. read more

Granite Planet loaded my granite on the wrong truck and it went to the opposite side of town so they were several hours late. Most importantly the installers bent the metal bar holding the dishwasher in place and the door would no longer close. I set up an appointment with Granite Planet so they could inspect the problem. My contractor waited during the 4 hour appointment window and called before and after when they did not show. They would not return his calls. I had to hire him to fix it for another $170. Granite Planet owner would not call me back and I forwarded him my proofs. He had his 1 week employee call me and after several discussions she stated Jim Stein advised that 'they aren't responsible for dishwashers'. Their handling was very disrespectful. read more

I went to granite planet, worked with the owner for our bathroom project (counter, backsplash, door threshold and shelves) gave them the approximate measurements (final measurements given by our contractor) but told them we wanted a threshold at 3/4 in.. However, the disappointing part(s) are, after the granite was cut: not able to use the threshold, I'm now being told cannot do 3/4 in. otherwise the granite will crack not sure why they didn't tell me that the day I was there. The back splash cut doesn't flow with the grains in the main counter. Plus, the sink was cut in the wrong spot that once the backsplash is on it will not allow me to use the sink stopper as intended, I have to do a work around. I do love the granite I chose. read more

This has been the worst contractor we have worked with. We ordered a huge counter top for our kitchen and even though the price was good the service is terrible. They were to be at our house between 9-10 am on a monday, finally at noon we called to see what was up. We were told they would be there within the hour, finally we called again at 4:30 pm and was told they could not make it. We demanded they come out that night and do the job. the crew didn't show up until 7:30 pm and of course the installers tried to hurry through the job. The seem in our counter looks horrible and the craftsman ship is awful as well. My 5 year old niece could put down a better caulk line. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY read more
