I was shocked to hear that they abruptly closed their doors thus abandoning patients. I had stopped utilizing their services because of too many side effects. I understand that the Attorney General's office is involved. I was able to get my Granite State medical records from the attorney general's office but no one knows what happened to the medical records that I had to submit prior to being accepted as a patient at Granite State. That is a major HIPPA violation losing a patient's medical records. I had to wait almost a year for them to review my records before accepting me as a patient. Started out seeing Murphy when this facility was in Concord. She was great. She retired and I had a wonderful temporary provider named Ashley. She went on maternity leave and chose to be a stay at home mother. Happy to hear she is happy. Everything went south and they moved us to Merrimack. They abruptly closed in Merrimack and everybody who had a prescription to be filled on the day that they closed were SOL. No communication and no warning whatsoever. The care I received at pain care was excellen, when the providers showed up. Last November I went to my appt in Concord and the entire building was empty. I called all three offices and was unable to get through. the entire phone system went down. My provider was gone, no phone call, no referral, no notice. I remained patient and after a few months it appeared to be straightened out and I was connected to another provider. Today is Thursday, June 12th,2025. I was ghosted again. my appt was cancelled and I've been trying to reach anyone for thtee days. The phone systems are down again, I can't even leave a message! 10-12 years ago, I had a provider in the Concord location who was actually educated and helpful. The practice has steadily gone downhill ever since. Most recent provider abandoned ship... the Merrimack location is sketchy beyond belief. I feel like I'm walking into a pill mill.. not a real pain management practice. This pain practice has undergone a change in personal and location. I was with them for three years, then after the recent changes, I was told that they would reduce my pain medications (a level I have been on for 15 years) by over 30%! After trying to work with and explain my medical history and treatments ... including from Walter Reed and Wilford Hall, the female provider admitted to me "WE ARE UNDER INTENSE PRESSURE FROM THE INURANCE COMPANIES" to reduce pain medications. I was originally seeing Katherine Coolidge for years. She was great and always listened to how much pain I was going through. Katherine left and then I was sent to see Yelena. I was told by Katie that she talked to Yelena and my medication would stay the same. The first time I saw her she started to take me down from my meds. It gets better, recently the day before my appointment i get a portal message saying she is not longer seeing patients and cannot write prescriptions. I figured I would go to my appointment the next day praying it was a mix up and they had a notice on the door that because of administrative issues they were closed and you would have to call your pcp. One of my scripts was due im 3 dsys and the other like 5 I was so upset and the fear of withdrawing is not what anyone wants to experience I was on the phone trying to call any Dr that might see me because my pcp wouldn't even prescribe one of my meds. How can they do this and just leave us and not answer the phone but that's nothing new Fortunately I found a place to go but don't know if it's permanent or for the time being. It would be fantastic if somebody from their office would answer a telephone line instead of having them all go to answering machines. It would also be fantastic if they could give me an appointment that I should've had in January so I could've gotten my monthly medications that I have been missing out on since December and had to have my PCP step in and take care of me. To have my provider just disappear and not contact me to tell me that somebody else would be taking care of me is negligence. The care is horrible, especially when you find out he has opened a new business in his own name starting in January 2025. I have asked for my medical records on an answering machine because you can't talk to a person and I have emailed for them. Merrimack practice shut their doors with no notice to patients and there new Portsmouth office won't return calls. I should have seen it coming employees were quitting and saying they weren't being paid on time. The left a note on the door to call your PCP for your meds. I have been a patient with GPM (concord & merrimack NH) for about 12 years. All of a sudden I got a message three days before my appointment telling me it was cancelled and to call back to reschedule. I called MANY times, left MANY phone messages over the next 7-10 days. I also sent messages email messages via THEIR website. It was critical that I get rescheduled right away as they have provided me with opioids NON-STOP for all those years (has worked well for me and its the only thing that helps me). Out of desperation (having run out of my prescription) I called and sent more emails to the OTHER company location websites. THEY COULDNT BE BOTHERED TO CALL BACK FOR A PATIENT ON LONG-TERM OPIOIDS!~ Finally, I called NH Health & Human services! According to them, they went out of business withou t telling their patients! WOW....MEDICAL MAL PRACTICE as far as Im concerned. I was finally able to get a temp prescription from the VA (100% disabled). I ended up finding a new provider and THEN what happens? I get a call on 2 July saying to call them to set up an appointment at the same location i was previously attending. I have had VERY good experience with them up until this! ANY medical practice that does that to its patients is one you should AVOID!!! Im done with them!!! read more

If I were rating my provider, Yelena, I'd give 5 stars. The facility gets a 1 though. I had been a patient in Merrimack for about 15 years starting with Steven Toscano and a few providers in between then Yelena Courchene. Providers have been great, most staff has been helpful, friendly and quick to get me in/out. My issues have been with lack of phone coverage and not even being able to leave a message. I got the text confirmation for my appt. then the day before, another text canceled my appt. I'm sure we all got the same robo call saying to call and reschedule but we can't get to a human or leave a message. I did find a message on the portal later from Yelena to contact my pcp for my prescriptions saying she was sorry she but she left the facility and can't fill them for me. Has anyone else heard from her or info she's at a new facility? How do we get our medical records? Many places won't accept new patients from GSPC on an opiate medication plan. I'm sure I'm not the only one having a hard time finding a new place to go. This is not ok at all! read more

I will begin by saying I had been a patient at Granite State Pain Assoc. for many years. Dr. Doherty was always kind, compassionate and willing to discuss my treatment options. Unfortunately he left the practice which closed and locked their doors soon after with no warning. Pain management is a specialized area of medicine that requires additional education and training. Primary care physicians do not treat chronic pain. For a medical practice to not return phone calls and abandon their patients is unconciable. This practice is owned by Matthew Hogan, managing partner at Needham Heights Holdings. I can't find a phone number but the address is 1 Westinghouse Plaza, C315, Boston MA 02130 He's not a medical provider he's an investment professional who buys and sells businesses with no concern for patients.. Pathetic. At one time this practice was great, very busy with several providers and patient oriented. I know it's a business and is there to make money but it shouldn't come at the expense of chronically i'll patients who depend on this specialized area of medicine to live their lives. I'm giving this business a 4 because I have received quality care from Dr. Doherty but now he has left the practice and it's unclear what is going to happen going forward. Matt is there to keep prescriptions going, he's great and some of the office staff that I really like are still there and I pray they don't leave too. I really wish they would let their patients know what is going on and keep us informed. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but it's hard when you're kept in the dark. Dr. Doherty left without keeping his scheduled injection appointments which was really bad but I get the feeling he had no choice. I get injections for my leg pain and he also did nerve ablation in my low back to help keep that pain under control so without him it's unclear what my future looks like. The medication I take only goes so far and I'm not willing to take more. I really hope this practice gets their act together, gets good new good providers like Dr. Doherty was, keep Matt and the staff happy and give their patients the quality care they deserve. I'm hoping they will provide some kind of update soon, I really don't want to change where I go but if something doesn't happen soon I may need to so that my quality of life doesn't go away. read more

I had an appointment yesterday and was treated very badly. I had my medication cut by 2/3 because the provider was "punishing" me for "breaking the rules". This is how some providers treat you here. Be careful. I am filing a complaint with NH OPLC because no one will return my calls. If I could have selected a zero rating I would have. I was satisfied, not happy, but satisfied, with my care up until yesterday. But the provider crossed a line by taking away my pain medication as punishment. read more

So, I have to agree with other posters. Avoid this place like your life depends on it. My wife has been treated horrendously here. She is Permanently disabled & in constant pain from Nerve damage caused by a bad surgery. The Dr's here (yes more than one) kept swaping out her med's like they were trendy shoes... Some worked a little some didn't. I think the trick is, tell them its working & you like it if you want the med changed. Then when my wife had a series of strokes, the 1st appointment out of the hospital & they discontinued her methadone (which was working & liked by her other Dr's). The Med they changed her too was flagged as unsafe by the pharmacy & upon getting a second opinion from her Neurologist treating her stroke was told Not to take it. The pain clinics response to 2 Other Dr's & a pharmasist warning? "You do not have to use us for pain management & are welcome to seek treatment elaswhere." Now they changed Dr's AGAIN & this guy changes her meds again, but this time stopped giving her any of her existing pain meds & expected the few "break through" tablets she had to carry her for 11 days until the new meds were given. When she wound up in the hospital, admitted on a stretcher in fetal position crying and screaming in pain because 8 phone calls over 3 days with this clinic got nothing but placiated responses. She had 3 strokes not 4 months ago & everyone was worried the agony she was in would cause another, so the ER gave her pain meds & Admitted her for a whole day to get her pain and body under control. The pain clinics response... She violated her contract by going to the ER!!!! You'd be better off seeking out a native american medice man for treatment than using this poor excuse for anything medical related. read more

Now, for you nay-sayers who would like to think that I'm a drug seeking ass hat who didn't get my way. THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT MY MRI's, MY MEDICAL HISTORY, or the YEAR AND A HALF PAIN MANAGEMENT RECORDS. I suffered from a work related broken neck with stenosis at the C5-C6 area. At my CONSULT, Yelena (who is a PA not a doctor- in fact they only have 1 actual MD on staff) lied to me, implied I am a drug dealer and tried to give me medicine that I am allergic to. Boy, she's a genius! After trying different approaches to stop my arms from going numb, it turns out I was also allergic to Gabapentin. I told her what had happened and she increased my dosage. This facility treats the epidemic, not the patient. Even their only actual Dr. doesn't read your history and if he sees that you are not educated to his satisfaction, you have tattoos etc, he makes a judgement about your personal character. Further he can't remember what you and he has discussed from that last appointment and apparently it's beneath him to look. They are awful and make you feel guilty for getting injured. read more
