The Tahoe Rim Trail runs right through here.

I really enjoyed my shoulder season solo stay at Granlibakken. I booked my room with a discounter online and the stay was reasonably priced and well worth the money. (Please note that breakfast is only included when you book direct,) After reading other reviews, I was a little worried that my room might be in disrepair or dirty, but it was not. The heat worked and it was clean. I had a king room on a lower floor at the very back of the property. For me that was awesome. What I gave up in having to drive for an evening dip in the hot tub, I gained in having the forest and a walking trail right out of my door. The back buildings are also by the treetop ropes course. I took advantage of the location and enjoyed several meals at Tahoe House and a nice fall afternoon at the beach. I will definitely stay again.

This resort is breathtakingly beautiful throughout all seasons. We love driving up to the lake for these special "holiday" meals. This was our 3rd time dining here. The staff is always welcoming, friendly and professional. They are quickly becoming like family to us. The Mother's Day brunch was held in the large room again. Having brunch again in the larger room made it easier to move around and gave each table more space. The tables were beautifully decorated and had a centerpiece of wildflowers. This brunch had a user friendly layout which allowed for patrons to navigate seamlessly between food stations. The selection of foods was fantastic! They were elevated to the highest of standards and expectations. The foods were unique, flavorful, and there were vegan/vegetarian options. We delighted in the Roast Chateaubriand. It was melt in your mouth good! We saw several dishes that were "fan favorites" from past brunches such as the deviled eggs with black truffle. There was a wide selection of desserts and pastries that were delicious, unique, and flavorful. It would have been nice to have a slice of traditional cake to choose from like chocolate or carrot but that is nitpicking. I also have to give a shout out to the mix/blend of Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice that was one of the options at the mimosa station. This was AMAZING at the Easter brunch and we were so happy to see it back for Mother's Day. It is definitely the most DELICIOUS and I hope it stays around for future brunches as I know I will.

No ac. And a broken chair in the room. Thank goodness we saw it before an elderly sat in it I think this property would be better if they had a better staff

We didn't stay here just came here for the sledding. I would give it 3.5 if I could... but hear me out.. There's only one sled hill, I wish there could be at least three, ranging from beginner to advanced. After a few times down your gonna want to go for longer and faster! Also they charge $35 a person for one super tiny saucer sled. You can't even put your feet inside sitting criss cross bc it's not big enough for that. Not even my 13 year old could, so you gotta lift your lefts up the entire way down. But they do not allow ppl to bring their own sleds at all. They could put a magic carpet or conveyer belt to take ppl up? You have to walk up the hill every time and many of the smaller children got tired and their poor parents would have to carry them up the hill each and every time. So although it's fun and I'm glad I did it for the experience I think the $105 I paid for my family of three, was a tad steep for what you get. when you can easily go sledding for free anywhere in Tahoe during the winter.

The booking process was easy, the staff was friendly and responsive, and all of the follow-up emails and confirmations made everything feel well organized. The location was also fantastic and made it easy to get around during the event. There were only a couple of minor downsides. The biggest one was the lack of air conditioning in the main living area. There was a portable A/C unit in the bedroom, which helped while sleeping, but it was fairly loud. During the day, the living room stayed quite warm until the evening cooled things off. I ended up leaving the windows and patio door open most of the time for airflow. I also couldn't quite figure out how to properly lock or secure the patio door when it was closed. It may have just been user error, but some simple instructions would have been helpful. One other note, while not really the property's fault. They recommended a shuttle service from the Reno airport. Booking online was easy enough ($95 from RNO), but after receiving my confirmation email I tried calling, texting, and even reaching out via WhatsApp several times with a couple of questions and never received a response. Thankfully, the shuttle did show up (about 10 minutes late), and everything worked out. Other than those few things, I really enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay here again. Having a full kitchen was a nice bonus, and next time I'd probably arrange for a grocery delivery instead of eating out for every meal. It would save a fair bit of money, especially if you're staying for a conference or event.

The 1960's Olympics museum is a must. I had no idea this was here and it's been not only a fun history lesson but neat to be so close to the elements, buildings, photos, stories and land where the first western USA Olympics took place. What a great experience. Gondola patrons lovely. Lift just to left of the slopes much busier and end of day skiers can be a bit nasty. Over all good experience anyway. $0.00 to park and right next to the Olympic village. You're just steps away from the lifts.

Sure it's a smaller resort than the mega resorts of Heavenly and Palisades, but what it may lack in size and fancy amenities for a lot of people, it sure makes up for with its views! If you love incredible views of Lake Tahoe (I mean who doesn't?!), then you will love Homewood. On some of the runs, it feels like you can ski or ride all the way down the mountain and right into the lake! I would purchase a season pass here in a heartbeat if it weren't for the fact that our family's cabin is in South Lake Tahoe, and in snowier winter months Hwy 89 is often closed by Emerald Bay, which means that you have to drive the long way (counter-clockwise) to get from south shore to Homewood. This can take up to 1.5 hours (each way) depending on road conditions versus the roughly 35 minutes it would take to get there if you could take the route around Emerald Bay. In any case, my husband and I loved the 2 days of snowboarding we got in a couple of weeks ago with our friends visiting from Hawaii. One day was bluebird and the next was white out conditions and snowing. Both days were EPIC! Friendly employees, less crowds than the bigger resorts, and just an all around great local vibe! We can't wait to go back...thank you Homewood!

We tried once a long while ago in Crested Butte but there was no snow, but today in Tahoe, I was rewarded with so much snow! Yippee! I skied here all weekend and really enjoyed that this was the first place I have ever XC skied! I will remember this forever. On the first day, I just rented some classic skis and went out there to figure it out. It wasn't too bad until I was trying to reach the lodge after 2.5 hours of skiing and could not figure out how to stop lol. I decided then that I needed a lesson. But, I still had a lot of fun and got to ski at least 5K or maybe more. On day 2, I came for a group classic ski lesson with Riley and no one else signed up, so I got the instructor all to myself, sweet! Riley was an awesome instructor, he taught me how to herringbone up steep hills, taught me how to stop with the pizza method but also gave good instruction on form so I knew to really pivot my ankles to get good grip of the snow to stop. The trick is bend your knees and make sure you bring your knees closer as you make the pizza with your skis. He taught me really well and gave me a lot of confidence to come down hills and this lesson was very helpful for today especially when I came back to the lodge and was able to ski down with ease and no falling like on day one. The staff here are so friendly and helpful! Jill was amazing and hope to see her again. Cathy who checked me in was just very sweet and we connected on the DMV area. Bernie was also super nice when I came back on day one and asked me how'd it went, and of course, Riley was the star, pushing me and teaching me to be a better XC skier! Mathias was also sweet collecting all my equipment and making sure I had everything when I left on day 2. I had lunch here on day 2 in the lodge and it was vegetarian chili wirh cornbread muffin and it was delicious and just what I needed to power thru an additional 2.5 hours of skiing. I also met a XC racer today and he told me about XC 10Ks and 20Ks and said next weekend, they are racing to fundraise for Tahoe Search and Rescue, and these are the guys out there trying to find those that were caught in the avalanche. My next thing is probably learning to better XC ski and then ultimately, to do one of these XC races to help with fundraising, looks like a lot fun, great for endurance and staying in shape and for a great cause! Thanks Bob for the amazing conversation! Because of this experience here but also because I knew XC would be more my speed, Im now totally devoted to this vs downhill and ready to invest in skis, boots and poles, which I never really cared to with downhill. XC is a lot of endurance and reminds me a bit of running and hiking so this is really up my alley. I also like the core strength thats needed when pushing yourself along when you have some momentum. Also, to note, XC skiing has way less people, so its super peaceful and meditative and so much cheaper than downhill skiing. This is definitely the ski sport I am devoting the rest of my life to! No more suicide downhill skiing for me! Ill definitely be back here again for next season's XC skiing and really looking forward to coming back! May also do some MTBing here if I cant wait until next winter!

We dropped in on a Saturday at about 10:30am, got our trail passes, and rented snow shoes from them ($27 per adult I believe). Most of the time we didn't see anyone else around. There were some across county skiers and dogs that would pass us on occasion, but it was mostly a beautiful and quiet hike (except for the snow shoes crunching on the snow). This is a great place to have a causal and affordable little adventure.

We booked two morning sessions with Pro Powder Guides for our 13-year-old daughter, who had never skied before. Our expectation was simple--safe introduction, basic control, and hopefully a positive experience. What happened instead was a complete transformation. David's coaching was precise, calm, and incredibly effective. The real differentiator was the CALM-TALK™ helmet communication system--live, in-motion coaching that eliminated confusion and accelerated learning in a way we've never seen. And here's the part that matters: The video proves it. By the end of the second morning, she was: Linking clean parallel turns Confidently using her poles Skiing intermediate terrain with control and flow No exaggeration. No marketing spin. You can literally see the progression. As parents, that level of outcome--delivered efficiently, safely, and with total professionalism--is exactly what you hope for, but rarely get. Why this stands apart: Real, visible results in minimal time Technology-enhanced coaching (CALM-TALK™) that actually works Clear, composed instruction tailored to the individual A premium, private experience focused on outcomes--not just time on snow Bottom line: If you want your child to not just try skiing--but truly learn it, confidently and correctly--Pro Powder Guides is in a different league. I stayed here from June 2-7, immediately following the closure of the winter season. Consequently,…read morethere was a significant amount of updating and construction occurring, with many amenities closed. I acknowledge that my experience would likely differ during the winter season. During my stay, the low number of guests meant I did not need to make reservations at restaurants or wait anywhere, which was a positive aspect despite the overall quietness. I am rating this place 3 stars for the following reasons: Pros: -Convenient location for transit to Tahoe City or Truckee, with free and direct routes. -Excellent sales at clothing shops due to clearance of winter inventory. Outstanding customer service; the team was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. -Very affordable pricing; I paid approximately $170 per night for a one-bedroom studio. -Rooms were equipped with a fridge and microwave. -Several food options in the village, although availability varied by day. -The sauna was excellent. Cons: -The gym was subpar, with free weights only up to 40 lbs and both the stationary bike and treadmill out of service. The only notable equipment was the cable machine and elliptical. -The hot tub was closed. -The tram was closed. -Several restaurants were closed for renovation. -Rideshare services to Tahoe City or Truckee were expensive, costing around $30+ each way. Overall, the emptiness during this period was a highlight. However, the timing of my stay coincided with the off-season, during which the facility undertook extensive renovations. This undoubtedly influenced my experience.
