Full disclosure: We did not eat here! We walked in right off the street and the place looked so dirty. It's definitely not a place I'd want to order food from. It doesn't look like the pretzels are homemade either. The staff wasn't overly friendly or welcoming inside. We were in Helen on a very cold, windy day and saw people emerging from Granny's with huge buttery soft pretzels! We had to have one! The pretzel was delicious and did not disappoint. The building is a little scary and was not very clean, there are picnic tables on the inside in the back but they may be less clean than the ones outside in the front. Customer service was okay but they did not seem happy to make our pretzel, really they were just warming it up because they are already made. read more

My family and I were exploring Helen, GA and stumbled across this eatery as my sister in law was really craving a pretzel. As soon as we entered, we couldn't help but notice the flies circling around the kitchen and the rundown state of the interior. We decided to give it a try anyways and we were served a pretzel with cold "beer cheese" that had a thick layer of cloudy multicolored liquid on top as if the hot cheese was immediately refrigerated and now it's contaminated. I stopped by Granny'a famous, not for a funnel cake, but for a salted pretzel! I saw a sign for a sated pretzel and I was one hundred percent sold. I walked into what felt like a time warp to the 70's, which was an okay thing. The inside was a little dated and maybe could use a spruce, but I did love the retro feel of this place. You could get various snacks here as well as sodas but I came for one thing and I got it, my pretzel. The pretzels are made to order which I really appreciated. It took about three minutes or so, which wasn't a bad wait. There is plenty of seating inside as well as outside so once it was ready, and since it was a nice day, I sat outside. The pretzel was great, I did not like the mustard, wasn't for me. Maybe for you, but not for me. Overall everything was great. This place was beyond disgusting. The inside was covered in dust and dirt, the floors were sticky and covered in trash. It's run down in the most unhygienic way possible. But none of that compares to the cigarettes in mouth WHILE MAKING THE FOOD! Right there, over the fryer, cigarette hanging out. As the cherry on top, there were no gloves in sight. Not to mention, while sitting outside, one of the employees stepped out to smoke directly infront of the customers sitting on their patio. Not to the side or anything. Several people were waving her smoke away. Now I'm not expecting to walk into a five star restaurant when I walk into a funnel cake place, but this was next level disgusting. The young Asian boy snapped at the older white lady for opening two bags of the premade pretzels and made a big scene. This is my go-to funnel cake spot in Helen! There are other ones but there's a reason why this one is always the busiest and usually has a line out the door. They've kept the same decor since I've first discovered this place years and years ago and it smells very oily when you first go in. They only have 2-3 people working which is why it does take a bit longer to get to the front of the line & then you have to wait a bit more for your actual order. The pretzel bites are yummy. The fried oreos are sweet & oily but good. The main attraction is the funnel cake which is so good since it's made to order. I will say that the prices are a bit steep, in my opinion. Nonetheless, I will continue to come here for the funnel cakes alone whenever I visit Helen. read more

Hmm. I was a little unsure how to rate this place. The pretzel was a good size and tasty, but everything else was not great. Inside looks very dirty and unkept. There are posters up that are a couple years old, and it very much feels like you are in a cave. There was a long line and it moved quite slowly. After we ordered we had to wait longer to get our pretzel, which I think is probably frozen and reheated. The prices are not great, but they are comparable to what's around I guess. Like most of Helen, this place has skyhigh prices. But unlike most places in Helen, this place has great service, and quality food. The Funnel Cake was made perfectly and fresh. They had glass windows where you could watch the employees make them. The Lemonade was also amazing! All of the employees were wearing face masks, social distancing was enforced, and masks were required for customers. The Iconic Granny Statue was still intact, and she had a mask on as well. Stopped by at 830 pm...right before closing. My boys each got a sugar cone with "Krazy Kolors" flavor. It is a lot like Superman if you're familiar. Both cones were $9. Overpriced but expected in a tourist area. My boys were happy so well worth it. And the service was excellent! read more

We walked in here after seeing a pretzel and funnel cake sign and it was also one of the few places open considering it was only around noon and most places were closed! The coffee is keurig pods, nothing out of this world and there's powdered cream not milk or actual creamers. Our to-go place for funnel cakes in Helen! Every time we've stopped by, it would be at this place. It's not like we get funnel cakes often either but when it's available, we want it! We got 3 orders of funnel cake, fried oreos, freshly squeezed lemonade, and coke icey. I like that the lemonade wasn't too sweet. Neither were the funnel cakes and both were perfect. Good food but the female staff member that took our order was extremely rude and not welcoming and the inside of the place was very dirty. She gave us many dirty looks and while waiting for our food she felt the need to tell us the lobby was closed, to which I said okay no problem we are going to eat outside anyways. My daughter really wanted a funnel cake so I stopped in to get one. There were 3 families in front of me and 1 girl working. They serve various snacks like pretzels, fried Oreos and ice cream along with funnel cakes. They only had chocolate and vanilla ice cream however all the other flavors were still in the display case empty. The employee had capabilities of making 4 funnel cakes at a time as she had 4 forms in the oil- but she would only make one at a time. I waited for 30 minutes and realized that it would take another 30 minutes before I would get my order. She was completely overwhelmed and the line kept getting bigger. We stopped in here for lunch on our last day in Helen ... yes, my lunch was a funnel cake ... don't judge. My kids were blown away that a funnel cake is actually made with a funnel, and that you get to watch them make it. I was impressed as well ... I won't lie. We got them all topped with powdered sugar, and washed it down with a Coke and a Sprite. Granny was staring at us from the back, judging us the whole time, but I'm sure she approved of our eating habits. Staff was very friendly, and the room was cooled by A/C, however, there was no public restroom. Get out of the 80s and clean up, place some appealing signage and fix your 2 min checkout. He then proceeded to charge me $9, and pull a bag of frozen pretzels out of a coke freezer spray some fake butter and sprinkle some rock salt on them. I was expecting something authentic but this place is old, dirty and the person running the shop doesn't care anymore.
