Granny's is so good. Customer service was great. Took about 15 minutes to get my food and everything was fresh and good. I wish I could've went straight home to enjoy but you know food is good when you can enjoy it cold/warm. I got the one piece catfish with grits and Cajun ranch okra for $12. The okra? Best okra besides Munchie's that I've had here so far. I wish they gave more. I might get double next time. The grits were pretty good. The Parmesan I asked for always adds a nice touch. The catfish could've been fried harder to my liking but it was seasoned well. I'll definitely be back sooner than later!

I have been wanting to try this Food Truck ever since Dad saw it on Food Network but timing had just never worked out until recently. I arrived a little early and was pleasantly surprised they were ready to start serving. Staff was very courteous and made recommendations about popular items when I said I had never tried it before. I chose the Catfish with a double order of grits loaded with sausage for my sides. My only regret was not getting a 2nd piece of fish. It was so good! As is the serving size was plenty filling. Absolutely will be making an effort to get again soon! Hopefully they will send one of the trucks to the east side of Birmingham to make it easier to stop by on the regular.

Granny's is ALWAYS good! I have never had anything bad from here. My favorite is usually a shrimp bowl or a sausage bowl, but the fried fish is good too.

I had heard really great reviews about this food stand, and since I was on that side of town, I decided to try it. The employees were really friendly and had great customer service skills. I ordered the large shrimp and grits bowl, which was ok, not the best but ok. If I decide to go back, I will definitely try other items on the menu

I've waited years to try them. They did not disappoint. The fish was seasoned to perfection and the grits were creamy and delicious.

Wing Plate. Barely any lemon pepper on the wings. Fries below average. Okra Average.

Good but not great like I expected it to be. I can get better grits at Shug's in Bessemer. I can get better fish at Shrimp Co. in Hueytown. I will not return. Like a college basketball player, 1 and DONE!

This place has been on my list for a while. I'd forgotten about it and then it came up on my Newsfeed as a 'Food Network presents...' That definitely inspired me. The venue: Just like the advertisements says, they're near Birmingham Daiquiri; you can't miss them. Parking is a little questionable. I really only notice street parking available but it's a food truck so... there's that. The food: I ordered the combination bowl with grits, shrimp and sausage. Y'all these folks hands are so blessed! The meats and seasonings were prefect. But, THE GRITS were the star of the bowl. I'm not even a cheese grits girl (I'm sugar and butter - judge me later) but this bowl was something special! I'll definitely go back to try more from the menu. The chicken and fish looked good. The line: When I went (around 7 on a Friday evening) the line was not crazy at all. There were about 5-6 ppl ahead of me. But the line moved really fast and orders are ready quickly. I'm naturally impatient. This was a breeze. The people: I wanted to meet the matriarch of this business. She was there! I was star struck... She and the staff were very kind. It was a great experience!

I've visited this food truck multiple times. Normally, I get the shrimp and grits or the fried chicken. I've had the fried fish below as well. I've always liked any of the food I've gotten from here. Sometimes, the grits are a tad bit greasy, but it doesn't affect the flavor of the food! This food truck is normally parked right outside of Birmingham Daiquiri and they are usually opened really late. I wish they would pop up around the city more like some of the other food trucks, but at least I know where to find them since they generally park at the same place. I'd definitely recommend their food!

I was craving catfish and Granny's satisfied that craving. I was soooooo glad we decided on this location for dinner.

First time in Alabama, drove through Birmingham for a quick bite to eat. Granny's Fish N Grits definitely hit the spot. Fried shrimp, grits and okra. #GoodEats

Here's a menu!! The fried lobster is bomb!!!! Consistency is ALWAYS key!

This may be a little bias because I have been eating off this truck for the VERY BEGINNING! They can do NO wrong!! I got the Combo bowl which featured Shrimp, Bacon, & those FAMOUS cheese grits!!! Fiancé got the chicken plate that had 4 whole wings seasoned to perfection, 2 slices of bread, & those FAMOUS cheese grits!! We are never disappointed! The fiancé only has to add hot sauce & he loves that Texas Pete she has! I am also partial to the Fried Lobster which I didn't get this time, but your taste buds will love you for it!!!

I can't believe simple fish and shrimp n grits were this delicious!!! It's worth a trip to Birmingham every weekend!!! The line was long, but so worth the wait!!! If you haven't tried them, you are missing out; I don't care what part of the world you're in or if you've had shrimp and grits before...you haven't had Granny's!!

It's kind of hard to tell what all the food options are, so I had to ask what some stuff was. I managed to get a meat and 2 instead of a meat and 5! There were quite a few veggie options that looked amazingly delicious! I do not recommend coming here hungry or hangry. Ok, sooo I love meat loaf so naturally that's what I got. I also got collards and cornbread dressing & yes they had cranberry sauce. Everything was good tasting. The meatloaf was a little sweet to my taste so I probably wouldn't order it again. The veggies were not over seasoned or overcooked. I will definitely comeback here bc there is still just so much I wanna try. The staff is nice and took care of the crowd. I even witnessed them give a person in need food, as they were about to dig in the restaurant's garbage can outside for scraps. Made me count my blessings.. all of them! There is street parking only. I didn't have any issues parking on a Sunday afternoon. The inside of this restaurant is not big but I was comfortable dining in.

A la cart is available as well. They have ice tea or lemonade drinks in a cup that they also serve you. Lemonade was good. There's a very small counter to pay after you order. Fry chicken is tasty with perfect crisp. Collard greens were seasoned well and perfect texture. Yams (my favorite) was perfect - flavorful, not too sweet and firm but not hard. Both of us thought the Black eyed peas looked really good but taste bland. I would have preferred it without the Okra. I didn't see that when I ordered. One in our group commented the meat loaf was good. The dressing was really good too - well seasoned and tasty. After paying there's a dining area for self seating. It serves the purpose to sit and eat but definitely could use sprucing up along with the restrooms. Please seriously consider! It would make the experience much more pleasant to enjoy their delicious food. I took off two stars for that reason and yes it's that unpleasant as the tables/chairs are also too clustered together. The chairs don't fit around the table properly. Overall good southern food at a reasonable price and recommended. Skip dining in if you don't have too. Just my two cents.

Parking is primarily street parking in the area, but there is also a public parking deck nearby. I'm unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it's worth knowing if you're visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.

We ordered the hot chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw, and both were packed with flavor. The slaw was light, crisp, and not overloaded with mayo, with just a slight peppery kick that made it incredibly tasty. The hot chicken sandwich itself wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, but it was finger-licking good -- juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying down to the last crumb. We truly enjoyed every bite. The ambience with its bright green, purple and white colors added to the experience. The restaurant was lively and full of people, which is always a good sign. I also caught glimpses of other patrons' dishes, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked just as delicious as what we ordered. Service was friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Staff members seemed genuinely happy to be there and kept things moving smoothly. The location is right in the heart of downtown Bhama, so parking is metered street parking, but the prices were reasonable and worth it for the quality and uniqueness of the food. Overall, this spot delivered on food, atmosphere, and service. Big thumbs up from me -- I'll definitely be back!

The day we were there the bartender was waiting on the whole place himself with just someone helping him run food and clear tables.
