My family and I visited this restaurant after my doctors appointment a couple of weeks ago, we are not from the area we actually live in Gadsden so it was our first time trying this restaurant. Let me just start out with this the food was absolutely delicious. I don't have much of an appetite these days and I. An honestly say I finished almost all of my food and ate until I was stuffed and that isn't something that happens very often. Each member of my family was happy with their food and was already planning out what they would order when we come back after my next appointment . I just opened a Farm Stand in our home town and while we were sitting and eating I spotted a mixer that was sitting off to the side with some other supplies. If you know anything about industrial mixers they are far from cheap I had been looking at a few in the $500 range so I thought I would just check. I asked the guy upfront if he could ask the owner if it was for sale and if so how much he was asking. The owner came and spoke to us and I quickly realized that the mixer he had was way more expensive than the ones I had been looking at and I told him I was sorry that I couldn't even give him a fair price after looking up the kind he had . He looked at us and gave me a price that was astonishing to say the least , but I still didn't have that much at the moment. He told me to give him what I could and then pay him later when I had it for the rest. This is a man who has never met me he had no reason to help me besides just being kind. When you hear this man talk about helping others and community he means it, it's not just talk to make him sound good. I left his restaurant that day with a mixer that was several thousands of dollars. So I say all of that to say this Alabaster and surrounding areas yall are truly blessed to have a business that not only has amazing food but has amazing people who truly care about others, and from personal experience I can tell you they don't have to have known you for years to treat you like family. I thought it'd be fun to see the costumes and vendors and the menu won me over, so I stopped by to grab a meal for me and my husband to share. The truck itself is large and impressively decorated/designed and really delivers on the sort of Valkyrie / Maiden of War fantasy. Food is made to order so they do tell customers about how long to expect to wait. I was fortune to arrive early in the event and only had one or two orders ahead of me. My fresh food was still out less than 15 minutes after I ordered it. Service was friendly, professional, and eager to answer questions. I ordered their simplest burger, The Primordial Axe (one patty, semi standard toppings like pickles, onion, lettuce tomato), a half order of their Locked and Loaded fries (bacon, ranch, jalapeños, cheese and grilled chicken), and I couldn't resist one of their limited time dessert specials, the Scarlet Orchard Bread Pudding, which was cinnamon bread with pumpkin custard, with apples, cranberries, and whipped cream on top. It was definitely a feast for the two of us! The burger was my least favorite thing. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't super flavorful, and I thought a little too much fat hadn't rendered out of mine, which left it chewy in parts. The loaded fries were solid. Crinkle fries are my least favorite cut of fry, but these were cooked nicely and salted and seasoned well. The half serving was still absolutely huge and the toppings were layered well and were quite flavorful. Generous, well-cooked bacon, and nice fresh jalapeños too. The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly, was flavorful and juicy, and a pleasant surprise honestly - I don't usually love grilled chicken in loaded fries. Speaks to the quality of the meat and skill of the cook! The best thing to me was the dessert, though. One detractor - the cranberries were very bitter lol. But other than that, the spiced apples were a nice balance of crisp and tender as well as sweet and sour. The bread was soft but not soggy and perfectly sweet. It was a super generous portion that made two dessert servings for each of us. Overall, I am glad I made the visit to try this truck and would recommend giving it a try.

I love how she offers a different menu than what most of the other trucks offer. She even offers a salad option for those that want a lighter fare. Today's review is Rusty's BBQ located at 7484 Parkway Drive in Leeds, Alabama. They are a family…read morerun business and have won several awards over the years since opening in 2009. Rusty's is hands down the best BBQ in Alabama, I drive over 50 miles at least three times a month or more to eat here. They offer up pork sandwiches, plates, ribs, brisket, cheeseburgers, a vegetarian BBQ, chicken, sausage, world famous collards, homemade pies and more along with a variety of sides. I don't eat vegetables so I double down on the fries, I cover them with their sweet BBQ sauce, which I also love on the meat. The serving size at first glance looks a little small but don't be fooled, it will fill you up along with the generous helping of whatever side you order. The last time Julie was with me she ordered the ribs with okra and mac & cheese, both were enough to feed a family of four. The ribs were fall off of the bone and cooked to perfection, not burned like some rib places around the area. As for me, like I said, I always order the pulled pork plate with double fries, sweet BBQ sauce all over both. I have tried the spicy BBQ sauce and at first taste it was a little hot for my taste buds, but over time I kept dipping my fries in it and once I got used to it, it was pretty good, I would not put it directly on the meat or fries. I also tried the house sauce, it was just a sauce, kinda like if you didn't want your BBQ plain, best I can describe it is like drinking water instead of anything with taste, it's something to wet your throat. They offer a white sauce but I did not try it. The sweet tea is also very good. The service is good as well, someone came out and checked on me as I was eating, they play the blues on the radio but not too loud, the decor is local with lots of hometown football and area sports decor. The only thing I did not see that makes a great BBQ joint a legendary BBQ joint is a picture of Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, all of the legendary BBQ joints in Alabama have a picture of the Bear. Rusty's offers ample indoor and outdoor dining and plenty of parking with handicap parking available. Now to the only negative, when I order I always emphasize that I want NO pickles on my plate, I can't stand pickles or pickle juice. Several times they have put pickles on my plate, it's just a couple of small pickles and I remove them but it's the fact that I point it out plainly when ordering and they still get it wrong. I don't let little things like that slide when reviewing restaurants. If you are a local and eat here alot be sure to put your phone number in when paying to earn points for your reward, it's only 5% off, but every little bit counts. Overall Rusty's hits a home run when it comes to BBQ in the state of Alabama, it's worth the drive. 5/5
