This location is in Torvehallerne.They don't have a stand-alone restaurant in this area and have two other locations in the CPH area. (Google Maps was taking me across the street from Torvehallerne) Stopped in for a snack and tried the Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie. Perfect balance of PB & Chocolate. I've tried other bars where it's too much PB. They have an abundant selection of baked goods as well coffee & the servers were friendly. read more

Located at the opposite corner of the market as Laura and operating from 10h00 daily at the same stall since 2014, three additional locations including one that offers overnight accommodations to travelers found throughout Denmark, Granny's House promises guests an experience based on honest scratch-baking and although at first appearing a bit ramshackle in terms of layout those willing to take some time to look will quickly find themselves a bit overwhelmed by no less than three dozen types of Viennoiserie, Cakes and Pastries. Staffed by just one young woman, predictably tall and blonde but fluent in English despite the fact that all signage both on-site and online is in Danish, it was after a few minutes perusal and with several questions asked that a total of six items were selected, boxed, bagged and paid for, first bites of the Museli Biscuit unfortunately finding it entirely unsweetened save for dried Fruit and too dense to be enjoyed without something to drink, the Almond 'Croissant' more like a Turnover in that the ingredients were folded into it, though really just a matter of semantics as the layers were light and flaky around a soft center lacquered in Marzipan. Unfortunately arriving a bit too late for items to be warm, though the Market setting and ovens located elsewhere made this possibility slim to begin with, it was with most of a dry Cinnamon Roll set aside that better things were tasted, the Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie softer and better stocked with Nuts than that at Sweet Valentine while the crispy Meringue with Hazelnuts and Coffee Buttercream was every bit as memorable, the best of Granny's offerings still to come by way of an all-Butter Tart filled with Rhubarb and topped in Streusel. read more

I don't always eat sweets, but when I do... I don't want them to be overly sweet. Weird? Perhaps, but sugar is never really my drugs, so I was extremely happy to find that Grannys House cake wasn't overly sweet, neither was their gløgg (which I believe won "public prize" in recent competition of "Danmarks mesterskabs i Gløgg") The price is extremely fair for Copenhagen, I really can't ask for more, or maybe I'm just used to cafes overcharging their customers, but with a slice of cake for 35kr and warm chocolate at the same price, you sort of know that this place is ok (Baresso charge 42 kr for hot chocolate and it's not even that good). Seating arrangement was somewhat proven to be a challenge since it is on the corner of Torvehallen anyway, but they put up colourful chairs and tables and if you don't mind the throng of people walking by once in a while, it should be alright. After all, you're here for the hygge and the sweets, right? read more

Yummyyyyyy!!! And just how cute can this place be?? I mean it's a tiny place but worth passing by and checking it out. Maybe you get a goody with you! It is located at the heart of Copenhagen. It is near Nørreport at the glass market just next to the metro station. There are lots of good places to eat at the glass market and this is one of the good ones for dessert! Its a bit hard to find a place to sit, especially when the weather does not allow the outdoor seating. There are only 3-4 small tables inside, but just be patient! It's worth it! At fastelavn, the Nordic carnival (I think it's around 7 weeks before Easter) they have these amazing fastelavnboller. Just don't miss it! It melts in your mouth with this heavenly cream! Yum yum! I also love the decorations of granny's house with the large colorful balls hanging from the ceiling and the different colored tables. Have a look, you won't be disappointed! read more

Granny's House occupies a corner of the Torvehallerne food hall and keeps it cute, colorful, and bright with its decor. Open earlier than the other stands, it's easy to stop by here for a morning coffee/tea and a Danish (err...I mean a wienerbrød) pastry. As I was heading out to the airport to catch my flight back to Los Angeles, I loaded up with a chocolate croissant (I know, I just can't resist), and then some more traditional pastries such as the TEBIRKE, which is covered with a blanket of poppy seed and filled with butter, sugar, and marzipan paste. Take it with some tea as how it's supposed to be. And lastly, I got a HINDBÆERSNITTER, which are Danish raspberry bars and definitely satisfies your sweet tooth! This is such a delicious place to go and have a bite of something sweet! I've been here twice, and both times I ordered a slice of cake. First time I had a slice of their chocolate cake and second time I had their blackcurrant and vanilla cake. Both were insanely good, but you only need a little bit as they are very sweet. Everything else they have in their display cases look really tasty, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet. I've always been in the mood for their cakes when I've been here. Whenever I feel like cake, this place quickly comes to mind! I do think the cakes are very sweet, but I still think they're super tasty and I'll be back again :) read more

This place has the most delicious pastries and the friendliest staff!! This was the most delicious cinnamon bun I have ever had! They also have 3 types of chocolate rum balls- we tried the hazelnut which was out of this world! Great dessert stop inside of Torvehallerne, especially on a rainy Copenhagen day! read more

Not the most exciting or tasteful eatery in Torvehallerne, but excellent service and decent selection. Pro tip: if you order elsewhere and are craving an affordable pastry or bread, this isn't a bad place. Worth paying for the seating rather than eating out in the cold and/or the rain. Baked goods: I ordered the birthday cake pastry. Though I have quite the strong sweet tooth, even this was overwhelmingly sweet where I felt immediately guilty for consuming what tasted like a cup of sugar. Can't say much about the other pastries, but I've had plenty before from many other bakeries and none have been sickeningly sweet like this. Seating: it's Torvehallerne, so brace for war. Since it's a corner shop, it has more seating than most other eateries and larger tables with more seats, which is nice for larger groups or during busy hours. read more

Very cute cafe on the pricey side, but worth visiting. I heard that this place has the best gløgg in Torvehallerne so I had to try it. I'd just had a cup from Ma Poule (35 dkk) so I was surprised when the girl behind the counter told me that their version would be 49 dkk! Well, I still wanted to try so I shelled out my hard-earned cash and waited. She handed me the gløgg in a nice glass and a plate of cookies but unfortunately I wanted it to go. I apologized for not specifying and she apologized for not asking and quickly put my order in the proper containers. Outside in the cold air, I could smell that this drink is definitely boozier than Ma Poule's. And upon further inspection, I actually found some almonds at the bottom. It was great gløgg, but at that price I will sit inside at their cafe next time and people-watch. If you want your gløgg to go then save a couple kroner and seek it elsewhere. read more

I'm coming to believe this might be my favourite place to stop in for something to eat and a coffee in Copenhagen. I always seem to be passing by at all times of day and Granny's House has a great variety of breads, delicious cakes, pastries and treats. I can highly recommend their chicken and bacon sandwich, toasted with pesto and greens inside. I can't vouch for any of the other sandwiches because I keep returning for the chicken and bacon one. I also had an incredibly delicious pastry with marzipan and apple filling. The name escapes me but I think it may have started with engel-? Medium range prices for sandwiches (55) pastry (15-30) and standard coffee prices. read more

A Danish local actually told us to visit this stand and get the Romkugler, or rum balls! She told us they're the best romkuglers in town. We're glad we listened to her advice, because the chocolate balls were absolutely delicious! It had a subtle rum aftertaste, and it's gooey consistency is almost like fudge. What's great about the rum is that it tones down the sweetness of the chocolate. The cafe is really cute as well. It's colorful and very cozy. Eat your way through the food market and then set this as your final destination for some nice dessert and coffee! read more
