Romkugle med lime crumble, hindbær-chokolade moussekage, kaffe og gløgg

I don't always eat sweets, but when I do... I don't want them to be overly sweet. Weird? Perhaps, but sugar is never really my drugs, so I was extremely happy to find that Grannys House cake wasn't overly sweet, neither was their gløgg (which I believe won "public prize" in recent competition of "Danmarks mesterskabs i Gløgg") The price is extremely fair for Copenhagen, I really can't ask for more, or maybe I'm just used to cafes overcharging their customers, but with a slice of cake for 35kr and warm chocolate at the same price, you sort of know that this place is ok (Baresso charge 42 kr for hot chocolate and it's not even that good). Seating arrangement was somewhat proven to be a challenge since it is on the corner of Torvehallen anyway, but they put up colourful chairs and tables and if you don't mind the throng of people walking by once in a while, it should be alright. After all, you're here for the hygge and the sweets, right?

Yummyyyyyy!!! And just how cute can this place be?? I mean it's a tiny place but worth passing by and checking it out. Maybe you get a goody with you! It is located at the heart of Copenhagen. It is near Nørreport at the glass market just next to the metro station. There are lots of good places to eat at the glass market and this is one of the good ones for dessert! Its a bit hard to find a place to sit, especially when the weather does not allow the outdoor seating. There are only 3-4 small tables inside, but just be patient! It's worth it! At fastelavn, the Nordic carnival (I think it's around 7 weeks before Easter) they have these amazing fastelavnboller. Just don't miss it! It melts in your mouth with this heavenly cream! Yum yum! I also love the decorations of granny's house with the large colorful balls hanging from the ceiling and the different colored tables. Have a look, you won't be disappointed!

Granny's House occupies a corner of the Torvehallerne food hall and keeps it cute, colorful, and bright with its decor. Open earlier than the other stands, it's easy to stop by here for a morning coffee/tea and a Danish (err...I mean a wienerbrød) pastry. As I was heading out to the airport to catch my flight back to Los Angeles, I loaded up with a chocolate croissant (I know, I just can't resist), and then some more traditional pastries such as the TEBIRKE, which is covered with a blanket of poppy seed and filled with butter, sugar, and marzipan paste. Take it with some tea as how it's supposed to be. And lastly, I got a HINDBÆERSNITTER, which are Danish raspberry bars and definitely satisfies your sweet tooth! Above all, tasty treats and friendly service!

Our favorite. In a town of fabulous bakeries this is the best of the best. Add in excellent customer service and they won us over!

At the Torvehallern market, we stumbled accross this coffee bar. Although I didn't try the coffee…read morebecause I don't usually drink coffee, everyone seemed to appreciate and it smelled divine. And I did try something, a tiramisu muffin. And man was it good, I loved it ! Plus it was pretty cheap which is cool in Copenhagen haha.

It's not a fantastic place or anything, but it's not bad either…read more First of all, there was only 1 person working there, and that just wasn't enough considering that the place can get busy depending on what time you're there. It's located inside Arnold Busck which is a definite plus because well... books! But that also means that sometimes it gets a little noisy, especially when the door to the street is opened up. The prices are too high for the quality in my opinion. A hot chocolate was almost as much as a hot chocolate in Baresso, and whilst it at first sip was heavenly, the whipped cream-taste quickly faded away and then it was just so... ordinary. Tasted like something I could've made at home. Now, this all might sound really negative so you might be wondering "Natacha, why 3 stars then?" Well, I'll tell you. They get an extra star purely because of their DELICIOUS brownies. I'm serious, they basically melt on your tongue and the taste, oh the taste! Don't go in here expecting a lot. From my experience, don't actually order anything. Just buy a brownie. Buy a brownie and enjoy a little piece of heaven.

Now that I'm situated in Denmark, you know what I miss about the US? Not thaaaat many things (read:…read moreplease stop talking to me about Donald Trump and/or the upcoming election), but one thing I do really miss is that laid-back chatting with people you encounter in your every day life. Without the feeling you're uncomfortably stroking someone's holy personal bubble/wasting their time... Call it superficial, but it makes me smile and is just another positive experience in my day. Sometimes that's all it takes if you're having a bad day. I have to say that the service here gave me that feeling. The lady working there--I guess the owner, Rikki, judging by someone's photo--was very sweet and accommodating, was checking up on us to make sure we were OK/liked our food, and just generally made me feel very welcome and happy to be there. For me, this really makes the difference when there are plenty of great cafes to choose from in Copenhagen. (Also, I would definitely want to feel this way about someone who was going to be helping me cleanse my body using juice.) So, not necessarily the place to grab a super fast coffee and zip off, as there was only one person at work, but I really appreciate the local feel, emphasis on fresh food, and very importantly the availability of lactose-free milk options! Shout out here to the alternative milks, homemade on-site. If you're not on friendly terms with lactose, like me, you've got plenty of options here. I tried cashew and sesame milk, both great and very mild tasting alternative milks. They are also unsweetened--love that. Drinks can be sweetened if that's your thing, though. I would love to try their coconut milk at some point. And finally: thanks for having real matcha! Definitely worth a return trip in my book.

I found this place thanks to Yelp…read more I took my small Yelp team (4ppl) to give it to try. I'm writing a review on behalf whole team. Place was surprisingly smaller than I tought. Anyway, nice simple design with some nice small details. We went there about 10. We ordered breakfast. All together we tried to order every single item from the breakfast (brunch) menu. Basically all items were very tasty and original. I loved the Matcha bowl (Matcha is a special green tea powder and here it was mixed with puréed avocado, banana, cashew milk and vanilla). Really unique. I'm always on the hunt for something unique and I found it in here. Added value in my perspective! So I recommend that you should definitely try that. I would like to mention also the healthy apple cake, which is not really apple cake at all, but it tasted excellent and I'm happy they didn't use too much sweetener. For a drink, we all ordered a flat white coffee. It was perfectly done and they add little art on the top. 4 coffees, 4 perfect hearts. It show a confident barista hand. Speaking about service- all servers were all very friendly, efficient and they perfectly knew their product. That's the key of success. My wish for them is to have this business on some very busy street, so they will always have the place full. Thx for reading this and have a nice Yelpy day.
