I had a taste for tamales. Ordering from Granny's was easy online. I was able to preorder for pickup at lunch time. I ordered brisket and pork and beef. Also extra salsa and a tub of additional salsa for later. It was a little hard finding the location through my GPS, I passed it up. It was on the left hand side instead of the right. It was a cute place with plenty of parking and one table inside for 4. My order was ready when I got there. The tamales were a good size and super good. I ate both flavors and had enough for me and my husband for dinner too. Very filling with lots of meat. The salsa was not spicy like I like it but good enough. The extra salsa was .25 each and I will use it for tacos. It's next to the EZ Pawn in a standalone building. Definitely recommend. read more

Ohhhhh my tamale!!! So this business comes to a market in my town once a week. I'm so glad it's only once a week and for a few hours because my pants can't take anymore. Never had a bad flavor and the workers are so sweet. The one negative thing is they don't sell chips at the booth so I literally drink the salsa from the container since putting it on the tamale would divert from the deliciousness. Judge, baby judge cause the green salsa is gold! My grandmother has been deceased but she visits me while I drink that salsa only if it's to call me cochino. read more

I agree with the comments about the size (and the prices compared to the size). They are small compared to what tamales should be. They taste good, you just have to buy more. We went to the one at Old Town Spring. They don't have a place to seat inside. They have a small patio area with some chairs and tables outside. Best tamales! We were lucky to live near the Humble location for many years. I like the Jalapeno Cheese and Spinach. We moved to Florida 6 years ago. Happy to discover they ship now and have ordered a couple of times. We have also routed 2 trips through Texas to pick up tamales to bring back to Florida. Now we have our neighbors hooked, too! I understand that the cost of pretty much everything has gone up but that doesn't mean that the quality has to go down. This place use to be the go to spot in the area. It seems like since they expanded, the overall quality has gone down. The taste is still good but as the pictures show, this was the standard size for each of the dozen. Granny's Tamales usually have a booth at the farmer's market near me once a month. I've bought every batch of every vegetarian tamales they have with the spinach & cheese, bean & cheese, jalapeno & cheese, bean, and sweet corn (masa with specks of the sweet corn throughtout). They are for the most part good and not too greasy. Their best is the spinach and cheese. The jalapeno and cheese has a somewhat sour taste so I suspect they may be using pickled jalapenos. Their bean and cheese is rich but can get salty. I mostly stick with the spinach and cheese now as a result. read more

After the hurricane came through Granny's was only place open. I stopped and picked up 2 dozens tamales. The tamales were nothing but mesa, they were terrible. I appreciate them being open after the storm, but food and price were terrible. HEB has homemade tamales and they're a lot better than Granny's and only cost $10 per dozen. The Spicy Beef and Pork Tamales taste bland and were no way near spicy. The texture was too soft it fell apart once I unwrapped it. The Spinach, Cheese and Chicken Tamales were nothing to rave about and the Salsa was weak. The location is convenient and easily accessible off of 1960. A good variety of choices and I wish I could try all of them. Unfortunately, you can't order singles. I ended up getting half dozen of the spicy chicken, wasn't spicy at all and half of the spinach and cheese. All were very delicious and honestly I could've eaten a whole dozen by myself. I do wish the fillings were filled a bit more but guess everyone does their tamales differently. The tamales are handmade and made daily and definitely can see the work that was put into it. Customer service is horrible! Considering it's Christmas, the lady at the counter should of had a little more cheer! She was rude to customers and created an awkward environment. I waited in line forever because they allow preorders to go before the people waiting in line (which I understand) but they need to have multiple cashiers at the counter to get people through faster. Oh my goodness, when I tell you these Tamales are to die for. I went in there to get a half dozen of beef and pork Tamales and then I seen that they sell the chicken cheese and spinach ones.
