    Grilled cheese

Hippo Burgers' "Grilled Cheese" A Tragedy in Three Bites.... you've ever wondered what it might feel like to bite into disappointment wearing a sesame seed hat, look no further than the grilled cheese at Hippo Burgers. This masterpiece arrives on an inside-out burger bun, as if the kitchen suddenly remembered mid-order that bread exists but decided to improvise for the thrill of it. Bold. Confusing. A little chaotic. Then there's the cheese: two flimsy, unenthusiastic slices of Walmart cheese that look like they escaped from a lunchbox in 2009 and never emotionally recovered. Not a hint of creaminess. Not a melt, not a stretch, not even a polite attempt to soften. Just stiff, existential dairy squares contemplating the meaning of life on your bun, clinging to the bun like they didn't actually want to be part of this experience either. And yet... redemption glimmers. The Cajun fries were the true hero of the meal. Crispy, seasoned, and downright delightful. Honestly, I should've just stuck with the fries. They were the only part of the order that didn't seem confused about their purpose in life. The sweet tea, however, tasted like it had been sitting out for a day or two, gathering wisdom and possibly a faint hint of carbonation. A philosophical beverage, but not in a good way. The whole sandwich vibes like it was assembled by someone who whispered, "You'll live" and walked away. Overall, 10 out of 10 for comedic value, and the fries, 2 out of 10 for... literally anything else. If you're craving grilled cheese, maybe try a different universe.

-#12 siracha burger was seasoned well - chili cheese fries weren't my cup of tea but may be yours. -The decorations at the restaurant were a little outdated for my liking. - The place was clean and empty when we arrived. -The location was a little sketchy for my liking so I'll try the one on atascosita next time. -lunch crowd started coming in one by one at 3pm -price was $35 for two combos -the burger was huge.

Same good taste, but smaller store. Store has been reduced to half the size. Not sure why...but another business is on the other half of wall from its original store. Can't complain, this is the Original location, can't get no better than where it started regardless.

Burgers are huge! There are quite a few combinations you can get here. They definitely have some of their own specialty concoctions too! Service was quick and easy. Walked right up to the counter and ordered! Not a lot of people were in there so there were plenty of booths and tables to sit in. Burgers were well seasoned. Panties are hand formed. Fries were okay. I went with my family and everyone got their own burgers and had rave reviews about them!

Think Larry David: Prettyyyy...prettyyyy....pretty good. The menu is the perfect size - just enough variety for whatever you're feeling like. Every side we tried was hot and solid. The burgers were all the picture-perfect version of "decent." The people running the place were pleasant. The setup inside is sparse and honestly depressing, but no one is here looking for it to look cute. Won't drive a distance to get here. Haven't craved it since we came here. But if you're in the area, it's not a bad spot.

Just ok- meat breaks in half while trying to eat burger & slides out- cheapest cheese used, don't even think it was real cheese. Garlic fries were frozen fries with minced garlic from the jar- spooned on top. Chocolate mint shake was the only thing half way decent!

A craving ready to be crushed, right? Wrong. Stepping inside, I was greeted by the warm, inviting ambiance of...one other customer. The cook, on the other hand, radiated the enthusiasm of someone serving jury duty. A curt "Can I help you?" barely escaped his lips--no eye contact, no smile, not even a hint of chili-scented charm. After an intense study of the menu, I played it safe with the Walker Street Combo: two hot dogs decked out with chili, onions, and mustard, plus fries. A pink lemonade rounded out my hopeful order. I briefly considered tater tots but quickly decided against prolonging my awkward interaction with Mr. Sunshine behind the counter. The food arrived, and my optimism peaked--until I bit into the fries. Cold, flavorless, and about as exciting as eating salted cardboard. The hot dogs? Tragically bland. The chili seemed to have skipped the spice rack entirely, while the mustard and onions worked overtime trying to save the day. They didn't. Even my pink lemonade decided to phone it in--barely sweetened and wholly uninspiring. As someone who's had fond memories of JCI in the past, this visit felt like betrayal in a bun. I left wishing I'd just pulled into a gas station for a roller dog instead. James, my friend, we need to talk.

The gentlemen told me 15 minutes I said that's ok because I had to be to work at 5PM. He said it will be ready in 10 minutes I ordered two burgers and one order of fries. When I arrived I seen one car sitting at the pumps but I didn't think they were waiting on food because nothing was cooking. At 4:48pm I went to the counter and there was a lady who said she been waiting over 30 minutes for her food. I asked was my food ready he started hollering I told you 15 to 20 minutes. I said no you didn't but I can't wait any longer I have to go to work and I would like a refund. He started saying I'm ruining his business by lying and I'm telling him you told me 10 minutes just please give me a refund. The lady standing there said I don't want my food because I don't like the way your talking to her. Then he tells me he has to call someone to send my refund and I told him I'm not leaving until I get something in writing. He is steady yelling and I'm telling to please just give me a refund so I can go. I say this to say you are very rude and disrespectful and I will NEVER patronize your business. Learn how to be respectful and how to talk to people and you may have more business. Last but not least if you eat from there stand there and watch how he makes your food. When I seen the two balls of ground beef just sitting there while making other food was appalling that meat should have been kept in the refrigerator until he was ready to use. Watch who and where you eat from. Please don't let my bad experience be yours try them for yourself but definitely watch while your food is being made.

Steak night advertisement is why I came on a Wednesday from it's Instagram page. From the entrance there's nothing like this place. Outside inside, wood built bar, 2 stories, gravel rocks parking and grass entrance. Has the feel of a local crawfish spot but good hole in the wall joint, with good food good prices drinks and vibes. Everyone here either greeted with a smile or greeted with a hi. That's right, leave your worries home, and any bitterness you have on your chest, cause this isn't the place for it. No kiddos here or young folks either. Closes 2am every night. Seems like a more club on the weekend, I can only imagine with alot of open flooring space and a DJ nightly. Grown Grown here. This place... I should of been coming a long time ago. This place is Underrated. Forget your chain bars these days, this is where it's at. Bathrooms, and tables and service everywhere. Behind a Shipley's donut along side the feeder road. You'll miss this place if you blink. Sat up top for the views, FIRST TIME. Fans are near seating so you're not hot. Food is ordered downstairs but they bring it to you wherever. But drinks can be ordered any area in here. MULTIPLE BARS INSIDE A BAR. Steak was tender. But wanted Medium well, it was more like Medium, but turned out better than I normally thought. Seasoned, butter and savory hands down, and potatoes was well done, and fully loaded. Drinks were stiff here as well. I can only imagine a Fri-Sun night... more crowded, probably standing at times for a seat. Parking lot is first come first serve, very limited. And of course parking near Shipley Donuts when they're closed, in case full, just another secondary. I would really recommend this place if you like enjoying outdoor eating and music with a crowd. This is a real bar, no questions. Must try on your bucket list.
