Opened in 1969 by Percy and Sallie Creuzot, this Frenchy's Chicken restaurant in Humble Texas is one of nine locations throughout the Houston metro area. I read about it as Beyonce's favorite chicken restaurant (original location), and someplace she tried to stop in for chicken and biscuits when visiting her hometown. Since I needed to be at the airport a little after lunch on a Monday, I asked my brother if we could stop at the nearest location, and he agreed. This location is co-situated with a gas station, in perhaps not the nicest part of town. It is set-up like a typical fast food chicken shop: you get in line to peruse the menu on top, get to the front of line and order. There weren't any specials or coupons that I could see online, so placed a simple 16 piece family order (16 pieces of mixed chicken, 3 large sides, and 8 biscuits) for $44.99. They gave us some water glasses, which we could refill at the self-serve soda machine in the front. It did take a while for the order to be ready, and was prepared to-go. It was simple enough to find a seat in one of the sit down booths and dig in. As soon as I saw the chicken, I knew it was going to be good. I focused on eating the drumsticks and thighs...moist meat, great breading, not spicy at all. It reminded me of how bad the chicken I had last at a famous place in LA. Even though this is a satellite location, far away from the original...they seem to be keeping the consistency right. I chose to get corn bread instead of biscuits, and it was good...small enough to be the right size. It would have been good with the honey butter. The sides were good, but the portions were really small, especially compared to their competitors. The cajun gravy was put on top of the good mashed potatoes. The dirty rice was OK. I thought the red beans was good, overcooked to make it mushy and had some nice sausage slices for meatiness. I just wish there was more of it....not balanced with how much chicken and bread was given. Just meant I had more chicken...ended up eating 3 of the drumsticks, 1 of the wings, and two of the thighs just by myself. Frenchy's is By far one of the best fried chicken spots around, The batter is amazing and is not to compare with other fried chicken places, the chicken has such good flavor and very juicy I would put this fried chicken over Popeyes and kfc any day, they also have tenders which are awesome very good flavor and juicy has well, tenders are good option for the kiddos. although I can not say much about the sides are not all that great they are ok. the mash potatoes and gravy is good but nothing to brag, the fries are good but nothing brag either but would prefer the fries. I have been here a few times and the chicken never fails, I have taken some of my folks from out of town here if they were in the mood for fried chicken and they were impressed. Customer service needs improvement. We let her know it was our first time here and she didn't even bother explaining the menu or giving us recommendations. At first I thought it was because we were speaking English so I started speaking Spanish and that wasn't even the issue, it's just her way of servicing. We had chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes and corn bread. The chicken was delicious and flavorful, the mashed potatoes were good, the corn bread was not dry at all. The atmosphere is not to sit and enjoy a date it's more of a get your food and take it home type of place. read more

This was a delivery option at a hotel close to the airport. I have never eaten at or from this establishment so decided Why not it has a 3 rating on Yelp! We were ordering late and had a only few options. This was the some of greasiest fried chicken I have ever had I think, and I liked it! The taste was good although very salty. My companion wanted an extra large order of the mashed potatoes with gravy bits. I am a bit of a mashed potato snob, and these were ugh boxed or otherwise not homemade. When I visited this Frenchy's Chicken recently in Atascocita, it was the first time I've been back to any Frenchy's since my school days at the University of Houston. The original Frenchy's was located between UofH and TSU. This experience was different but not disappointing . The chicken is lightly dusted with flour and heavily seasoned the way I like it. Unfortunately the Cajun pepper spices were missing. Gone is the kick that they used to serve on the chicken. I guess this is making it more palatable for broader market.. I'm glad to see that they have things other than seasoned french fries. for example collard greens and mac & cheese are now available. I do miss the spicy chicken but I think I'll get over it because this version of Frenchy's chicken is still moist but not overpowering with the crust and definitely less greasy than the original version 50 years ago read more

This place has really gone down since the last time I was there. The chicken wasn't fresh the fries were nasty. Tasted like the grease hadn't been changed in days. God is so good. I was craving some fried chicken and didn't want Popeye's or church's chicken and my husband chimes it with "There is a Frenchy's up the street!!".. I argued him down that he must be mistaken because I surely would have heard about this, but alas he was right, there is a Frenchy's chicken within a mile of my home. Rubi was wonderful at the window...quick and attentive. I ordered the boudin, large gumbo (which they quickly found & filled for me); and 10 pieces of wings. I have to say it exceeded my expectations. Everything was seasoned and flavorful. The fried wings tasted the way original recipe should taste. The boudin delicious, not too greasy or soggy at all. The food was gone in half hour once I brought it home. Hence, no pics of the boudin. haha. I don't normally give "5" star ratings.
