An extra star for being the cheapest room near Galena on the Saturday night we stayed there. If price is your top priority then maybe this is your place. It's a quick drive into town. The front desk staff was polite enough. The room was terrible, it smelled strongly of urine, mildew, and probably dog. There were dogs barking in nearby rooms, and the sink and shower did not drain. The beds and bedding were of poor quality. Trucks on the highway outside the room were loud and sometimes made the bed shake. In the future, unless it was once again the last room available in town, we would never stay here. read more

The place is close to everything and it's a good deal and it's very clean. I'm thankful that they take being clean seriously. Has everything we needed. Open free parking. Uhaul is right here too. They have a grill in the backyard, a laundry room, a full kitchen for the community of motel residents. Many amenities for a motel and nicer than normal motel. I would return especially bc they made the room very clean which means the most. read more

We were in a pinch when the power went off on the territory. Had a family member on oxygen and desperately needed a decent affordable place to sleep. We found this place and it's super clean and had all the amenities we needed. Bonus was the very nice man who attended us. read more

I'll be honest: I was somewhat worried. I don't have a lot of experience with roadside motels, but oftentimes they can be kinda dingy and gross, so I was a bit concerned about what I'd find here. My concerns were completely unfounded. The place was so clean; housekeeping deserves every tip they get! The owner was super nice and had sent me a text a few hours before they closed (as I was just about to pull out from my house, actually) to ensure I was going to be arrive and make arrangements for keys if it would be after 10. Luckily I made it around 9:30 so no problems. It was really comfortable, and the room I was in was surprisingly large. The beds were comfortable. They have a small fridge and microwave in the room, very helpful! There's a pool at the place, which I didn't use but it was pretty popular. It's also larger than I expected because there are some rooms along the backside of the place too, facing the yard, picnic tables, and fire pit. I better mention that the toilets were good because my significant other mentioned them several times, lol. You know how they can be low sometimes? These were slightly taller than toilets often are and that's good. The rooms have small outdoor tables and chairs as well for folks to hang out outside, which is nice on a warm summer evening. It's next door to the distillery, which I didn't visit on this trip but can't say I wouldn't on another one. And the place is about a 3 minute drive from Main Street, so really nicely situated if you don't want to be down in the thick of everyone but would like to be within easy reach. They also rent out U-Haul's so you'll see them and the drop box here. I've already recommended it to friends who have gone to Galena for their future visits, and I will definitely stay here if it's available next time I'm in Galena, and may well plan the dates to ensure I can stay here. read more

This is probably the cheapest to stay in the Galena area. The beds are ok. One big thing for me is the price was right and they allow dogs.

This retro motel checked all the boxes for our family. Clean, quiet, inviting pool, dog friendly, and excellent WiFi. We could've stayed here a week! Our room opened up to a grass lawn that was like a lovely park setting. read more

This was our first time staying here and I will be back! This place made my birthday weekend great. The staff was so friendly. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable. There is a fire pit in the back of the building. We spent the night socializing with the other guests watching the meteor shower around it. There is also a pool! Very nice old school motel which reminded of motels my family and I frequented back in the day. The front office woman was kind and helpful. Bed was comfortable and best of all, the room was clean and quiet, and a great bargain! Located close to downtown, a short drive away. My husband, our Grandson, and I stayed here recently for our visit to Galena. The motel is close to downtown Galena. The room was very clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. The price is excellent. The people who run the motel are very friendly and helpful! Our Grandson loved the large pool. The water was warm at 83 degrees. The pros: Reasonably priced for a summer stay in Galena, a huge picnic area conplete with a firepit, and small covered area to cook food for a small group. A nice outdoor pool with an actual deep end. Blaum brothers distillery is right next door. Dogs are welcome, with the pet fee at $15. Our room was recently renovated too. The cons: Walls are too thin. You cam hear your neighbot's TV, and other things.The infrastructure of the motel is in need of repair. The free coffee is flavored water, and keys have your room number on them. They're not keycards. I would return with a large group, or if bringing the dog. read more

This is one of the cleanest motels I've ever stayed in! We had a warm welcome, it was dog friendly, and they even gave us an extra sheet to cover the bed so that we wouldn't get dog hair on it. There is a good size refrigerator with the freezer, and a microwave in the room. You had to get coffee at the front desk, which, unfortunately, was not very strong and not very hot. The only other con was that the walls are thin and we could hear everything including the plumbing from the room next-door. It had a very large lawn in the back, and our pup was very happy to romp on it. If you're traveling on route 20 W., it is just before you get into the town of Galena,. Be careful, you don't pass it, because the GPS does not work in Galena,. The bathroom is small, with a standard size tub and shower with good water, pressure and lots of hot water. read more

I am usually skeptical for booking motels due to experience In the past with DIFFERENT motels. Grant Hills I would definitely stay again. The beds were on the hard said for me but my boyfriend didn't mind it.My boyfriend and I stay for two nights. It is close to town and affordable. We were greated right as we walked in to check in and she explained were everything was. It is in winter so we didn't sit out side but in the back they had a fire pit and a nice yard. Old motel, cheap rates. Room reeked if Febreeze. Seriously, 1-2 seats are enough. Towels were thin and rough. Bathroom old and needed a deep clean or remodel. The front office lady was nice. It's a motel, the name says that, so I wasn't expecting luxury. The room was comfortable, warm, and large. It's located within a 5 minute drive to the historic business district and the staff is helpful and friendly. Don't let the looks fool you. It's small, and older, but it is exceptionally clean, and comfortable. I was there in mid August, and the A/C was doing a great job of keeping the room cool. Nice size frig, and microwave are a plus. The highway noise is bothersome when setting outside, but once you close the door, it's quiet inside. The pool was refreshing, clean, and plenty big enough. The lady who runs it, is helpful, and actually appreciative of her customers. It's not a high end place, but of course you know that ahead of time. If you are wanting a safe, clean, budget friendly place to crash for a night or two, this is it. I doubt i'll be back through that area, but if I do, i'll stay there again. read more

If you want to bring your DOGS, this is the place to stay. They are dog-friendly and have a beautiful area in the back to walk them. And it's nice that you can park right in front of your room to unload/load. It was decent enough, but it's only about three stars because it still is just a motel. The downsides were the traffic noise and it was very bright in our room all night... bring ear plugs and an eye mask. Galena is a great place to take your dogs and just walk around the historic town all day. read more

A solid budget option for the Galena tourist. Requesting a room in the back will avoid the noise but you will also not be parking right in front of your door and the back parking lot gets very crowded. This place also functions as a U-Haul business so lots of their vehicles and trailers will be in both the front and the back and can make maneuvering difficult. We weren't given the most comprehensive welcome, not told about the kitchen, laundry (would've been nice to dry our beach towels after the pool!) or the vending room. Coffee at 9am is super late if you plan to make the most of your days in Galena. The towels are very tiny and water pressure non-existent, I also found the water to not be very hot one afternoon. Our room unfortunately had a very funky smell and was very hot, the window unit AC was struggling pretty badly. It maybe reached 76 in the room at the very coolest. Pros: The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Very close to town, maybe a mile out and there are taxis to run you back and forth if you prefer not to struggle with parking on the strip. The pool was very clean and great temp. Room fridge was a great help for drinks and snacks. Blum Bros Distillery is literally next door, walking distance away. read more

In a word ..horrible. checked in for the holiday events in Galena. After a long, tiring day we went to the room which smelled odd, like chemicals. While laying on the bed,I noticed small bugs crawling on the sheets. I thought they might be bedbugs but they where small ants which were all over the bed and the bathroom. I told the on duty mgr, who made light of it and offered another room. I said we are out of here, and had to drive two hrs back home. When I called the management the next day irecevied no apologies just a curt offer of refund. Avoid this fleapit! read more

I usually travel a lot and stay in different types of hotels from the simplest to the most expensive ones. This was not the worst I've ever stayed in, but the worst of them all. The heater is noisy, but it warms up nicely, however the bathroom is quite cold. The location is not good as it is across a busy highway and the noise from the cars is awful. I love Galena, but look for a place to stay and it's almost impossible to find a spot for under $100. The answer is to stay here! $76 for the night, clean room, parking right in front of your room, GAS GRILLS for your use (ok, that's not normal) swimming pool, and it's 5 minutes away from downtown Galena. The staff were very nice, (GF asked for extra pillows and an extra blanket and got 'em no problem). Great little place. We got a room with two beds overlooking the back of the motel. It was a very nice view. I noticed they had a few grills out there that would be great if you stay here during the warmer weather. Planing on going back to Galena with friends and family next year. Hmm....why so many good reviews? This place is a scary dump. Yes it's only $69 if you go during the week but it's another $16.25 for a dog. With tax and fees it cost me, my gf, and our dog $95 for one night on a Monday. Cheap, yes. But for what you get it should cost half that. Place is really bad. Pillows suck, towels too damn small, water pressure terrible, 1980 zenith tv. It looks like it hasn't been remodeled in 50+ years. Look elsewhere. read more

SUPER helpful with U-Haul! Reasonable prices, we have rented one before that was a major hassle with hidden fees. Nothing like that this time! We got it to our house to realize it didn't have a ramp so we couldn't use it. The beyond sweet lady in the office figured it all out for us and didn't make us pay for two!!
