Wow!!! What a surprise. Outside falling down. Inside a museum. Like sleeping in a painting ! Great bed. Super shower

    Specially made french toast!

The outside is a little run down, needs the repairs. The inside is very warm and welcoming, a lot of accommodations. It's my second stay and enjoyed my stay. Their breakfast is always the best here! Lots of food and coffee and tea, you will not leave hungry.

This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast. I was very impressed by our hosts, they made us feel right at home. As soon as you walk inside you will be amazed by all the beautiful original woodwork, the beautiful high ceilings and enormous pocket doors. The host is very knowledgeable about the history of this landmark. The bedrooms are so pretty and the fireplace makes the room so cozy. Not to take away from the beauty of the house but my favorite part was the delicious breakfast.

    Beautiful room!

A wonderful bed and breakfast on a classic Mississippi river town. The exterior is being renovated but you step back into 11883 when the house was constructed. Classic furniture reflecting several eras to included hidden modern amenities in the rooms(TV/DVD player). Homemade baked goodies available around the clock. The innkeeper Michelle made rum cake, banana bread, and coffee cake for our stay. Complementary drinks to include wines and sodas along with a grand breakfast. A more than reasonable price at $120 per night. The only draw back for our room was that it face Locus street which has a-lot of traffic. If you were headed out this way you cannot ask for a better nights stay!

I had to finally call and the lady appeared. I was quickly checked in which I did appreciate. Not with the same attention I have been in the past but checked in nonetheless. I checked in on the mobile app requesting a late check out of 4pm. I should have realized someone wouldn't go to bat to help but realized my request didn't go through until the morning. I asked as soon as I went down an was told there was nothing she could do since it was too late. I don't doubt she couldn't do anything as she wasn't empowered to do it. Said someone from "sales" would be in and they could help. When I returned, it was the same woman and had to ask if she was able to get someone to help and she said she could do anything. Before that I had asked her to try for a late checkout at 1 which she said was likely the most she could do. That was granted and as disappointed in the failure of the app I was happy to have that since I had no place to go for a few hours. Unfortunately, I don't believe she tried to go above and beyond that. Prior to that, I had come down the evening before to wait for Uber Eats to no one behind the desk again. When she did come out, I asked for a a bag for the ice machine since we don't have a bucket. Was told I'd get a bucket she assured was clean. She came back and offered bowls. Bowls that you'd use for soup or ice cream. Because they don't have any ice buckets. Who is taking their ice buckets? Back to the morning of requesting a late check out, there was no one behind the counter again. Had to wait and the same person from the night before finally showed up. Understaffed? Not empowered? Doesn't care? Idk... disappointed in this stay and see lots of room for improvement.

It has that traditional old-world charm, and it's amazing to see how well the historic architecture and interior details have been preserved over the years. The building has so much character, which makes the stay feel unique compared to modern hotels. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, and the hotel also offers a large parking area behind the building, which was very convenient. Our room overlooked the river, and the view was fantastic, especially in the evening. We only stayed for one night before continuing our trip, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. There are also several restaurants within walking distance, making it easy to find different dining options. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would gladly return the next time I'm in Dubuque.

We stayed here in July 2026 and paid over $400 per night for a suite. While the suite was clean, it…read morewas definitely outdated. The major problem was the thermostat. We normally keep our room at around 68°F, but the thermostat in our suite was locked and could not be adjusted. The room was approximately 73°F and very humid, making it difficult for my wife to sleep. When I spoke with the front desk the next morning, I was told that the temperature was controlled by the hotel through a computer. Had we been informed of this at check-in, or had there been a notice in the room, we would have contacted the front desk immediately. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the issues. We purchased a robe to take home, but when we opened the package at home, we discovered that the robe was used and dirty. I contacted the hotel and eventually spoke with Allison Rosch, the Front Office Manager. It took several phone calls and emails to get any resolution. After repeatedly asking, I was offered $80 off the room. I was also told that the hotel would consider refunding the robe after receiving it back. I had to ship the robe back at my own expense--approximately $40. What was most disappointing throughout this entire experience was the lack of an apology or genuine concern for what happened. For the price we paid, the experience was simply not acceptable. Marriott Towne Suites would be a far better choice.

Train!!!! 3am train We found this on yelp that everyone was getting a kick out of this place so we decided to try it. Called ahead (from across town). The woman on the phone was very kind. Walked into the old fashioned lobby and checked right in without any hassle. Besides the front desk is a small market of choices for snacks incase you forgot something. The woman was friendly again and told us all that we needed to know. She told us about the adjoining bar that opened later that night. The two creepy life sized Native Indian dolls weren't much for conversation. Got in the rather old elevator....It made lots of noises as we ascended to our floor. Using an actual key we went into the room. The rooms decor was like stepping into my grandma house. It actually had a grandparent smell. We cracked up at the size of the "queen" bed. That is not a queen. It was clean though. Minus a couple little things the bed was clean and that's important. There was a mini fridge, a couch, a microwave and about 6 different lamps in our one room. What made me laugh the hardest was the instant coffee maker..The antique. Even had the plastic mini cups holders. Oh I was afraid of setting something on fire. You're adventurous right? Tired of the same old hotels, yea try this one for a whole new experience. Also the bar attached to the hotel has karaoke every night and the staff is very welcoming. Within walking distance of many places to eat.
