Wow!!! What a surprise. Outside falling down. Inside a museum. Like sleeping in a painting ! Great bed. Super shower

    Specially made french toast!

The outside is a little run down, needs the repairs. The inside is very warm and welcoming, a lot of accommodations. It's my second stay and enjoyed my stay. Their breakfast is always the best here! Lots of food and coffee and tea, you will not leave hungry.

This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast. I was very impressed by our hosts, they made us feel right at home. As soon as you walk inside you will be amazed by all the beautiful original woodwork, the beautiful high ceilings and enormous pocket doors. The host is very knowledgeable about the history of this landmark. The bedrooms are so pretty and the fireplace makes the room so cozy. Not to take away from the beauty of the house but my favorite part was the delicious breakfast.

    Beautiful room!

A wonderful bed and breakfast on a classic Mississippi river town. The exterior is being renovated but you step back into 11883 when the house was constructed. Classic furniture reflecting several eras to included hidden modern amenities in the rooms(TV/DVD player). Homemade baked goodies available around the clock. The innkeeper Michelle made rum cake, banana bread, and coffee cake for our stay. Complementary drinks to include wines and sodas along with a grand breakfast. A more than reasonable price at $120 per night. The only draw back for our room was that it face Locus street which has a-lot of traffic. If you were headed out this way you cannot ask for a better nights stay!

When I first saw the listing with the excellent reviews and history of the house I felt this would be a fun place to stay. After spending the four nights my initial feeling was right on. This was the perfect place for our family to stay. Kathy greeted us when we arrived and helped us figure out where to have dinner that first night. We stayed in rooms 10 and 11. Those rooms have their own private bath and are on the second floor. It was as though we had a family apartment. The adults room had a king sized bed and the children shared a queen. Their room had a scavenger hunt within the stone walls, which they really enjoyed. After dinner the boys played table tennis and pop shots basketball. Kathy also treated them to an ice cream cone. Very sweet. There were also plenty of board games to play in the evenings. Breakfast was yummy and coffee aplenty! They do offer WiFi, but no screens, so it is easy to bond with your family and have some quality time together. This location was within walking distance to the swimming pool/park and Pendarvis (which is still closed). It is about a half an hour drive to House on the Rock, Cave of the Mounds, and Taliesin. Lots of fun side stops on the way to any of these places. Kathy is an awesome cook. We feel so fortunate to have met her, Dan, and Bobby Jo on our trip. Mineral Point is a beautiful town and I thank them for preserving and sharing such a wonderful Wisconsin landmark with us.

We loved the lush fresh flower arrangements in our room and throughout the entire inn. The common areas (breakfast area/living on main floor and the outdoor patio) are similarly beautiful, with comfortable seating and beautiful vistas. The food - from the afternoon appetizer/cheese/wine tray to the incredible breakfast - was really delicious. And I could go on. For instance, the carpeting was what you would find in a mansion. The linens and towels were luxurious. We were provided with a bottle of wine and appetizers in the evening. There was a nice variety and a more than ample amount. Breakfast in the morning was out of this world! 3 Courses!!! Entrees were expertly prepared and delicious -- and healthy! Probably our favorite was the steel-cut oats with fruit and a banana foster sauce -- YUM! Again, these portions were very generous. Our host, Matthew, was very kind and attentive. I don't think there are enough superlatives to describe our experience!

It has that traditional old-world charm, and it's amazing to see how well the historic architecture and interior details have been preserved over the years. The building has so much character, which makes the stay feel unique compared to modern hotels. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, and the hotel also offers a large parking area behind the building, which was very convenient. Our room overlooked the river, and the view was fantastic, especially in the evening. We only stayed for one night before continuing our trip, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. There are also several restaurants within walking distance, making it easy to find different dining options. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would gladly return the next time I'm in Dubuque.

We normally keep our room at around 68°F, but the thermostat in our suite was locked and could not be adjusted. The room was approximately 73°F and very humid, making it difficult for my wife to sleep. When I spoke with the front desk the next morning, I was told that the temperature was controlled by the hotel through a computer. Had we been informed of this at check-in, or had there been a notice in the room, we would have contacted the front desk immediately. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the issues. We purchased a robe to take home, but when we opened the package at home, we discovered that the robe was used and dirty. I contacted the hotel and eventually spoke with Allison Rosch, the Front Office Manager. It took several phone calls and emails to get any resolution. After repeatedly asking, I was offered $80 off the room. I was also told that the hotel would consider refunding the robe after receiving it back. I had to ship the robe back at my own expense--approximately $40. What was most disappointing throughout this entire experience was the lack of an apology or genuine concern for what happened. For the price we paid, the experience was simply not acceptable. Marriott Towne Suites would be a far better choice.
