From the initial phone call to the procedure itself, everything went well. My daughter is an anxious patient, but after reading reviews about Dr. McGann's experience with nervous patients, I felt better about choosing this office. During the consultation Dr. McGann patiently answered all of our questions and the wisdom teeth extractions went better than expected. The aftercare instructions were explained, and her prescriptions were sent to our pharmacy of choice and ready for pickup before we even left the office. Brandy walked my daughter to the car and made sure she was safely in her seat, which I thought was very thoughtful and compassionate. The office itself is contemporary, calm, and welcoming, with beautiful wood accents and two comfortable seating areas. There's a waiting area inside and outside. I really liked the vertical wood partitions. It gave the office a clean, Scandinavian design vibe. The building is on a corner lot with a small parking area in the back, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. There's also metered street parking directly across the street. The personal touches in the post care bag like chapstick, extra gauze and the syringe for flushing the medicine, meant so much. As a college student, she loves the new sweatshirt! She wore it inside at home today saying how comfortable it is! Wisdom teeth removal is a rite of passage for many teens and I'm so happy that my daughter had a pleasant experience. She's feeling better since the teeth have been removed. So grateful for this office. Dr. McGann's bedside manner and attentiveness are truly top-tier. We live 2.5 to 3 hours away (depending on traffic) so when I realized I had a missed call from the oral surgery office, I panicked a little thinking we had forgotten something! Wow, what a beautiful office. Why does this matter? Well, when you're about to have someone dig into your mouth and dig out your "#2," you don't want to walk into a dirty s#ithole with blood on the floor and broken mini blinds on the windows. This place, the exact opposite of that... a beautiful, sleek, and welcoming atmosphere to prep you for impending doom when extraction looms heavy. The staff is cheerful and informs you of everything that's about to happen. X-rays are processed quickly, you're escorted to billing, (you have to pay for this type of torture, you know?) and once paid up you'll be walked to the executioners chair... sorry, the extraction room. I don't know if that's even what it's called, but I'll call it that and you'll get the idea. Put my ass to sleep! When given the option, how could I say "no?" You must be a real psychopath to want to be awake for a dentist to straddle your face and rip out your tooth with a pair of rusty tongs. Jokes, I don't know how McGann did his job, I was sleeping, but I can assure you that I didn't wake up with footprints on my chest from him prying my failure of a root canal from my gums. He did great work, my recovery was virtually painless, and I thank my usual dentist, Dr Bartsch for referring me to such a reputable, kind, professional, and skilled torture artist, I mean DDS to perform extraction. Coming from a Registered Nurse with major dental anxiety, this place is top notch. I had 5 teeth extracted under IV general anesthesia 2 days ago and I'm so glad I did it here. From walking into the procedure room to coming out sans teeth, was 20 mins. Dr McGann paused for any final concerns/questions before beautifully placing my IV access. They made sure I could safely walk after waking up and went over aftercare instructions with my driver and I. By the end of the night, I could barely tell my face was swollen (Ice! Ice! baby). The aftercare instructions are incredibly easy to follow and will cover everything you're worried about forgetting. The staff were warm and knowledgeable throughout the whole process too. I recently had an extraction done by Dr. McGann of which I was incredibly impressed. Three months later he removed pieces of bone that were trying to work their way out of my gum naturally. These particular pieces were protruding into my tongue and needed to be removed. Something I didn't even know was possible of occuring he fixed with exceptional knowledge, care, and precision. I can't say enough positive things about Dr. McGann and his wonderful team at McGann Facial Design. I had to have major jaw surgery this spring and I'm so glad that I went with Dr. McGann. I needed to get all 4 wisdom teeth out. I personally chose to be asleep because I would have had extreme anxiety regardless of anything, & I didn't want this to be any harder than I thought it could possibly be. I was absolutely terrified. I'm pretty sure I was shaking a bit. I had my partner & mother to support me in the waiting room, but I did have to go in by myself. I'm pretty sure everyone could tell I was super scared, & I appreciate how the entire staff spoke gently to me. The assistant (a female, but I, unfortunately, don't remember her name) was very careful with me & told me everything she was doing, which helped me & my anxiety. When Dr. Mcgann came in, my anxiety did spike, but only because the anticipation was getting to me. I did need to get hooked up to an IV, & Dr. Mcgann did it better than any hospital I've ever been to. Only a slight pinch, & I don't even have a bruise right now. Next thing I remember is another assistant (a male) put something around my other arm, & the female assistant telling me I was going to get sleepy. That was the last thing I remember, & I was suddenly awake in a different room. I was told that the procedure would take about 30 minutes, but, according to my partner & mother, I was in there for about 15-20 minutes. I'm not sure how soon I was able to walk, but I was told that the assistant made sure I could even walk at all before sending me off. To the assistant that helped me walk: thank you for not letting me attempt a cartwheel. I don't even know how to do a cartwheel while not loopy. My appointment was at 1. It is currently 10:27PM, & I feel pretty much fine. I was able to walk around & even eat soft foods. I didn't even need stitches, & I'm not in any major, major pain. The next thing I knew the doctor was explaining to me how to go about caring for the two new holes in my mouth. Not only was the procedure pain free, it was over in no time. My husband got his wisdom teeth extracted here and it literally was a 20 min process. Crazy right!? But everything turned out great and he heed just fine. I struggle with the thought of being put to sleep for my wisdom teeth extract, and that's pretty much the main reason why I have been holding it off for so long. Since my wisdom teeth is pretty much impacted and food has been getting stuck, I knew it was time to make an appointment and get them extracted. Came in to get a quick consultation, Dr. McGann pretty much gets to the point, and that's pretty much it! One and done. On the day of the procedure I chickened out and asked to be awake. I was too terrified of being put to sleep!! I just couldn't do it. When I arrived Dr. McGann numbed me up and then about 10 min or so he started the procedure. I didn't feel anything!! And the procedure was sooo fast. Like a blink of an eye. After I was done Dr.McGann said his goodbyes and said I did great and told me I'll be going home with instructions and a bag filled with neccesties for my healing process. His assistant was very informative from the start of the procedure to the end. I really enjoyed having her calm me down before my extraction, since I was staying up. Everything was perfect. Dr.McGann gets to the point and you can tell he's very experienced in what he does! They can have as many as 15 patients in a day!! His office is so good at accomadting you. Never in my life I had oral surgery. The years of having impacted wisdom teeth hindered my everyday life. The weeks before having this surgery brought my anxiety to higher lengths from high prices in western medicine to health scares like nerve damage, not being able to breath, choking on my own saliva, sudden heart rate jumps, waking up during the procedure, sneezing and coughing while there is a drill in my mouth, or any problems related to sleep. Dr. McGann and his team changed all of that. The office is comforting with its nice views and internal environment. All of my questions were answered with the upmost relief and professionalism. All the initial paperwork including the pricing and prescription was handed to me within 5 minutes of the x-ray and check up. I was to get a negative covid test result from Kaiser before the procedure. When time came to do the extraction (4 wisdom teeth and a fully cracked tooth, go big or go home, right?) and sat in that chair I admit that there was a slight scare with that EKG. I may have heard wrong because I thought the procedure was 20-30 minutes per tooth. I peacefully passed out after being given the IV. I may have woken up after 30 minutes but only became coherent a couple minutes after. I was amazed how quick the procedure was. I was expecting this to be a half day event. The downside is not being able to eat because the anesthesia lasts for about 8 hours. It was kind of funny because the soup I ate spilled all over my shirt and shorts. I could not feel my jaw so I did not know if it was closed. The bleeding was not bad and it lasted about 4-6 hours because the gauze. Luckily the price isn't too bad because of my dental insurance. The only pain I had was from my right knee but that was from sleeping in a wrong position the night before. I was able to go for a walk, watch tv, and play video games. I sit here right now with very minimal soreness in my mouth thanks to Dr. McGann and his team, also thanks to ibuprofen! read more

My dad had his jaw surgery performed by Dr. McGann. However, after not being able to fully chew/have a stable bite post surgery he began to look for a second opinion as to whether anything could be done as Dr. McGann basically told him it was as good as it was going to get. Upon reviewing his records another surgeon was astonished to see cracked/broken hardware from the xray and stated it was surprising McGann left it as is. Spent thousands for the surgery and continued to charge him fees when coming back for follow-ups because of his inability to chew properly. So thousands down the drain and an additional surgery from someone else to fix the issue. read more

We were referred to Dr. McGann's Office by our dentist because my wife needed to have her wisdom teeth extracted. I've actually had two other family members come here as well and they had great experiences! Back to the wife... we called and scheduled our initial visit. The office itself is located next door to Sharp Memorial in the medical plaza. The parking structure was packed but we were lucky to find parking on the second level. The office itself is tastefully decorated and has a modern look to it. There are plenty of books and magazines in the waiting area. They also have light snacks available if you have the urge to partake. During our consultation Dr. McGann explained the procedure and was thorough, yet concise. He went through the risks and answered all of our questions. We definitely felt more comfortable about the extraction after talking to Dr. McGann. He wrote a prescription for meds and we scheduled the procedure for a few weeks later. There were medications that Dr. McGann prescribed pre and post procedure. My wife was quite anxious the morning of, but the extraction went well with no issues whatsoever. They were done in under 15 minutes and soon after the staff brought me back to the recovery area so I could hang out with my wife. It took about 15-20 minutes for my wife to recover and I drove us home. Prior to our departure the staff and Dr. McGann explained post procedure care and gave us the appropriate supplies to take home with us. Dr. McGann himself even called to follow up to make sure everything was going fine. One last thing about Dr. McGann and his staff. I received an envelope from them with a check from his office for over payment ($45.00). I would never have known if they kept the money. I think this speaks volumes about him and his staff. They made this process as simple and easy as possible, the consultation was may be about 15 minutes and they elaborately went through my dental plan with me all under 20 minutes. I went for my wisdom teeth removal after having the possibility of having a high risk case, Dr. McGann and his team recommended to get a scan to get a better view of my teeth. After the scan, Dr. McGann explained it was moderate risk and told me the options I had which was great and helped explained the difference of each option I had. I really liked that, it gave me face time with the Dr. McGann at really the best moments to make me feel taken care of and safe in the doctors care. I can't help but wonder if, just from a management perspective, if Dr. McGann is just a genius or if he hired a process engineer when he started up the practice so that the processes flow smoothly. The main woman who handles billing and the doctor himself made us leave despite me fasting all morning for my wisdom tooth extraction. There were multiple additional charges that weren't mentioned over the phone (after keeping us waiting an hour). The other patient in the lobby was complaining to us and the receptionist as we arrived because he had been waiting for an hour too. Disgusting customer service. They don't care about you. Wow, what a great experience! Had a virtually painless implant with bone graft on my front tooth by Dr Grant McGann. The most professional office I've ever been in & being a nurse for 40 years I've seen a lot especially being 67 years old with a fair amount of medical & surgical issues Dr McGann is the first Dr in years who used my name when we met & has the best bedside manner as well. In the past 3 visits, I've been amazed that every single member of his staff has been friendly & competent & they inform you & answer questions every step of the way Nick & Natalia in particular have been so helpful, informative, professional & friendly each time Ive had an appointment. With their well wishes, THEY SENT ME A JAMBA JUICE GIFT CARD :) Being new to San Diego, and holding off my Wisdom Teeth Extraction for far too long, I decided to go with the first oral surgeon that popped up on yelp. This practice is NUMBER ONE on yelp for a reason. I called on Thursday around 4:00pm just barely before they closed. The gal I spoke with built me a quote over the phone immediately and booked an appointment for a consultation AND procedure the following morning at 9:00am. Dr. Grant McGann wastes no time buttering you up, gets straight to the point, displays all possibilities of your procedure with honesty. My consultation took 20 minutes at most. Doc strongly suggested I remove all 4 wisdom teeth because a, b, and c. After my consultation and thorough description of what I should expect, I was moved into another room immediately after my consultation, and doc began. Three people were in the room, one to hook me up to machines and give me a warm cozy blanket. Another gentlemen to take my blood pressure, and Dr. Grant McGann to begin the process of anesthesia. This is the most thorough and efficient visit I have ever experienced in any practice. You can tell they perform many procedures throughout the day - their efficiency and quality is what makes this place stand out to me. Not to mention, doc was not pulled away once for another obligation - There was no waiting around for his attention. I was in and out within 50 minutes. A 50 minutes of my morning that consisted of x-ray consultation, followed by payment organization, to finishing with the procedure. Here I am, 12 hours later, with ZERO swelling and ZERO bleeding. This was the absolute rudest dentist I've ever been to that seems to not have time for his paying clients, he also has the roughest hands/touch and I can not forget! he has the rudest little assistant..I do not know what kind of relationship they have going on but it seemed very unprofessional how they were with each other... I could not have ran for the door faster. I would never go back here to get robbed and probably end up having more problems than wisdom teeth removal..If you need wisdom teeth removed there is plenty of nice gentle dentist all around and actually in that area. read more

Great place to have your wisdom teeth removed. Everyone was very professional and helpful. They answered every question that I had. I've been putting off removing my wisdom teeth for 2 years and I'm glad I did because I probably would have never found this place if I didn't. I decided with using only local anesthesia because I didn't want to sleep since most people said it would only take 20-30 mins. It ended taking only 10 minutes to extract all 4 of my wisdom teeth after the numbing procedure. I was very pleased with how fast and easy it was. You might feel some discomfort during the numbing procedure, but everything felt fine once it came to the actual teeth extraction. I had extremely minor swelling on one side after the procedure, but that was gone after I woke up the next morning. I was practically pain free less than 24 hours after my procedure. I was only able to drink some soup the night after the procedure, but I was able to eat solids like a chicken salad and other soft solids the next morning. Everyone that I've talked to that had their wisdom teeth removed ELSEWHERE were unable to eat for a week or so, and their procedures took 40 - 90 minutes which was why I've been putting it off for so long. I am very happy with the results and I can basically eat anything after 36 hours. As long as you follow the instructions given after the procedure, you should be fine.
